My favorite place to go on Friday or Saturday Night. I love Henry's!! Great place to just get a drink or eat. Friday nights they have Prime Rib that is cooked perfectly and a great horseradish sauce to go with it. Saturday they LITERALLY have the best fried fish I have ever had! They have a seafood bar that has some awesome Tiger Prawns, and their cocktails are reasonable and strong! :) If you are looking for a quite place.....this is NOT it! I have had a lot of people tell me to head to henrys so tonight was the night. Environment: this was a very laid back and interesting environment. It was a lot darker than I like and I really was a strain on my eyes. The only light source were ferry sim lights on the ceiling and a small single lit candle on the tables. The tables were also fairly small. Other than that it seemed laid back and welcoming. Service : wasn't anything out of the ordinary. It was very much an average experience. She messed up a few times but nothing big enough to dock her points for it. The food did come out a little slow but it was ok because we had the fresh bar too. Food: pretty good but I would def suggest for seafood xhoices! For the whole table we got a lot of food so.... Prepare. Started with the fresh bar which is only availibke on fridays. For the table we got oysters, scallops, and shrimp. They were all very good and I would recommend them all!! Then we ordered our food which I got the chicken sand which was not anything spectacular. Day one of our road trip to San Diego... stop 2. We're stopping through Fort Wayne even though it's a bit out of the way to visit my friend Phil and his wife. Phil and I have the "we go way back routine" every time we get together. There's the 50/50 mix of "remember when...." and then moving on to new shenanigans. We did the "remember when..." at his house and then headed out to Henry's for the new shenanigans. Good times! This is the second time I've been to Henry's... and the second time I've fallen in love with the place. Henry's has your classic bar menu, which surprises me since it's what a classic dive is. We've got the Artichoke Dip, the Fried Mushroom Caps, and what's the soup of the day? Italian Wedding Soup. Love it! Drinks are well poured, service is consistent, and your meal comes with warm bread and crackers... classic! Tip: Make a night of it and head over to Columbia Street as well. Joined some colleagues for dinner here on one of their recommendations. It's located in a part of downtown I have always liked. Parking wasn't a problem, despite it being a Friday night. The decor is really nice, and I especially love the bar. The booths seem small, but actually provide plenty of space for those of us who have a few extra inches. The service was spectacular. Our server had our drinks in no time and made sure we were always taken care of. For an appetizer, we ordered the boom-boom shrimp. They were tasty and crunchy, and a good portion size. For my meal I had the sword fish with rice and clam chowder. Honestly, I don't expect amazing seafood in this part of the country. I'm not a hater, it's just that we are pretty far from an ocean, and yes I understand that in this day and age we can fly to the moon, but still. Anyhow the swordfish was delicious! It was cooked perfectly, tasty, and a very generous portion size. My colleagues ordered the fried fish and the filet, both of which were also pleasing. The fish was a huge portion and tasty. My only negative comment is about the desserts. I understand that baking fresh desserts is not easy and definitely took that into account. We ordered a pistachio cheesecake and a strawberrry cheesecake. Both were a bit dry and a tad lacking on the taste scale. Henry's is my favorite Fort Wayne bar. Sit in the booths on the bar side (left if you come through the front door) if you want more intimate conversation - the right side with the open tables, especially in the back, can get pretty loud when it's crowded, though that's part of the charm. For food, you can't beat the Henry's burger. The meat is divine and the fries are crispy and perfectly seasoned. For drinks, I recommend asking about some of their great high-end yet affordable gin for gin and tonics. This is Fort Wayne's theatre bar so if you go around 10 or later on a Friday or Saturday, it will probably be packed with actors (who usually all know each other) but regardless, I always love the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. And their outdoor patio is great in the summer! read more

Snuggle up in a booth for intimate conversation, or meet up with a group and chill on the patio (weather permitting). The atmosphere is very laid back, which I love. It is dark with rich wood booths and a solid bar. You can also find local artwork hanging on the walls. The staff is always great and the menu offers lots of options. Everything is very well priced and a great bang for your buck! A few of my favorites include the mozzarella dip and the reuben sandwich, but it is hard to go wrong! They have beer choice, draft and bottled, and if you prefer liquor they provide strong, cheap drinks. If you are looking for a hangout spot in the area, stop in to Henry's! read more

Wow. We've been away from here way to long. Henry's is such a great neighborhood bar. The service is excellent, the food is tasty and approachable. My husband had The Burger and it was memorable and a prefect medium Rare. I enjoyed the Thai Carrot with peanut soup. So delicious and at a laid back speed. read more

Pretty nice place to hang; disappointed last time as they burnt our medium well burger black and the server said we needed to ask for a lower temperature (so that it wouldn't be burnt?......) They did recook it, but we go all the time and NEVER have we gotten a black medium well burger; didn't like how we were blamed for something that shouldn't have been a big deal. read more

Well, I grew up in Ft. Wayne and used to hang out here as a young adult. It was always a trendy, fun place to go on weekend nights - probably still is. BUT, I've been back to FW visiting twice in the past year, and I have to say that as a place for a good drink and dinner, skip it. The drinks are watery and not made well, and dinner courses are served all at once. Want an appetizer to eat BEFORE your dinner? Don't order your meal until you after you get the appetizer. Was looking forward to a quality evening out on this trip and was sorely disappointed. Really surprising as FW used to pride itself on the quality of its restaurants. Probably wouldn't return.... didn't get our order in for 20 mins then after waiting an hour we FINALLY got our food. The food and the atmosphere was the only good thing. Went to Henry's around 4 ish in Saturday. Had some beers and appetizers- cocoanut shrimp-VERY good And I had chicken livers which were excellent- a honey mustard dip that was included. Would be great if you could get a white cream country gravy as a sub on them. Good either way. Hubby and I also had the raw bar. A crab cake that was pretty good, scallops, a dozen really large shrimp and oysters on the half shell. All excellent. We will be back. Love the decor in Henry's and the music. I just don't get it. I've been here between 10 and 20 times, and every time I wonder why people love it. If you know the wait staff (usually I go with regulars), it's not terrible. But if it's your first time here, expect service to be slow and less than friendly. The menu is uninspired bar food: sandwiches and fried everything. I'm all for classic bar food, but it should be done well. This is just mediocre. It's not bad food--it's just not worth what they ask for it. This is incredible to me, since it's owned by the same guy who owns Bourbon Street Hideaway, some of the best food in town! The worst part of a trip to Henry's is the service--consistently horribly slow and bordering on hostile. I dug this place. They've got a hole-in-the-wall atmosphere (which I love) but with decent beers and good bar food (we had fries and mozzarella sticks). The waitress was very on top of things - always there when you needed her. We only stuck around for some beers and bar food, but I was happy they were open late enough for us to hang out after most of the other places around downtown close. Based on the reviews and pics, I'd certainly consider returning to get some more elaborate food stuffs! read more

I must be in the minority with my opinion of Henry's. Seems like everyone else I know raves on and on about this place. I just don't get it. Service is extremely slow - every single time, even when it's nearly dead. When it isn't dead, it is packed to the gills and LOUD. Usually semi-rude and indifferent servers. The only good server that I've ever had at Henry's is a friend of mine who doesn't work there anymore. The last time my husband and I were there, I ordered an artichoke pasta dish and he ordered "loaded" nachos. My pasta dish had so many artichokes (or capers or something, I really don't know why it was so bitter and nasty-tasting) in it, it was barely edible, and his nachos were dry and burnt to a crisp. We decided to just suffer through because we had already been there for an eternity due to the aforementioned service. The times we were there before weren't too awful, but that last trip just cemented why I won't go there anymore. We've been back a few more times, and I've decided I'm less than impressed with the food. Their fries are definitely the soggy, limp variety and I mainly head there when I'm in the mood for a burger and fries type thing so I'm invariably disappointed with that. I'm usually here for the drinks not so much for the food, but I dined in for the first time and it was pretty good. I went on a Friday night when they had their seafood special. I got the oysters and my date got the tiger prawns. There weren't a lot of sauce choices (at least I didn't see it) so we were just given lemons and cocktail sauce. I prefer to eat my oysters with soy sauce and wasabi. Oysters - 6 for 8$ Shrimp - 6 for 8$ The drinks here are strong and cheap ! We also got the boom boom shrimp (app for 9.99$) and it was soooooooo good. Definitely recommended. The shrimp was succulent , big, and so translucent. Perfect cook on the shrimp. read more

Had the baked red snapper fish for dinner. I think it set under the lights too long, it was the toughest driest piece of fish I've ever had in my life. This is usually a great restaurant, the atmosphere alone is worth coming. And the raw seafood bar on Friday is why I go. But they were out of scallops, so I had the shrimp cocktail..the hot sauce is fantastic...and ordered the snapper. I don't complain, and that is my fault. The fish should not have been served to me, I knew that as soon as I saw it. When you can't cut fish with a fork, there is a problem. But I didn't say anything, and I should have. Having said all this, I will say go and order the Steak Diane. It is wonderful, but I didn't want that much food. Next time I will order the Steak Diane and take home the rest. read more

Hostess was friendly, we love the atmosphere. Cocktails are good, French fries are good, but everything else we had was sub-par. The spinach and artichoke dip was very watery. The little slices of pita bread that came with it were good, though. The Caesar salad had wilted pieces of lettuce. The steak tasted burnt on the outside but was somehow undercooked on the inside (which was a little concerning for me since I got medium-rare and the steak I received was very much "still mooing"). The grills have obviously not been cleaned in awhile. I asked for the sautéed mushrooms and onions on top of the steaks, and the vegetables were sautéed for maybe 30 seconds before going on the plate, they were mostly completely raw. Service was okay, not particularly friendly. I'm so disappointed, I recall Henry's being a delicious and awesome Fort Wayne staple, but it's definitely lost some of its luster. Girlfriend and I went here for a quick drink, and it was just perfect (for what it is). Perfectly summed up as "the set of Cheers." Suggested for anyone looking for a relaxing and fun dinner or drink. We just sat the bar, drank a beer, and watched people. The bartenders were very friendly and older (guessing 35-45 yrs), which suited the place well. They knew lots of the regulars, and didn't just stick to "their zones." They moved and served each others customers, and had long involved conversations with the regulars. Didn't have any food, but it seemed like the regulars were eating, so that is always a good sign. This is one of my go to places when I want good food. Sandwiches are always well done and dinners are consistently good. Steak, ribs, chicken wings, fish, pastas, big salads and veggie sandwich offer something for everyone. The daily specials are always interesting combinations. I'm about a 3.2 to a 3.7. I liked the feel, I'm sure I'll go back sooner than later, and Patrick the bar tender was great. It wasn't that busy on this particular Saturday around 10:30. I ate at the bar. I kept it simple with the char grilled chicken. It was pretty dry. I guess I should've listened to the suggestions. "Best burger in town," is what I was told, just wanted something lighter so late. I was told the spinach artichoke dip was good, but I didn't want all the bread. My wine was mediocre. My Ketel One is always delicious. I was told the fish fry is always good, but I'm not a huge fried fan, except once in awhile. The bar is gorgeous and it's always fun to meet new people. Patrick is an excellent bartender and great to talk to. Took my family during the day for lunch when my great aunt was in the hospital next door and service at our table was terrible. Classic downtown Fort Wayne bar serving the best burger in the city. Period. Strong drinks, ok beer selection and a solid menu. Prices reasonable considering the quality of food. Henry's is a favorite of mine. I love the neighborhood bar vibes I get when I walk in. On Tuesday's they have $2.75 craft beer. Their pistachio cheesecake is amazing! They also have a great burger and large juicy wings. Another favorite of mine is the black bean nachos, which have just the right amount of spice. I have been to Henry's a few times and every time it gets a little more endearing to me. I really want to try and get downtown more and Henry's is the perfect place to relax, have a drink and enjoy some good food. The latest time we went was on a Saturday night with 3 other couples. It took a while waiting for a table large enough to accommodate all of us but we new it might, so that wasn't a big deal. It's really much more suited for foursomes. The food is good, not spectacular. But there are some spectacular items. Some of the great dishes I've enjoyed are the black bean nachos and spinach and artichoke dip. The burger is supposed to be the "Best in Fort Wayne" according to some but I beg to differ. Granted while it is a solid burger, I would rather have a Red Robin burger anyday! The building is old (Great character and atmosphere) so the layout can be tricky for newcomers. Just ask someone where the bathrooms are. The mens and womens restrooms are on the opposite sides of the building! read more
