This has become our mid-week go-to spot for dinner and a few drinks. Weekends are crazy busy, but pretty easy to get a seat at the bar earlier in the week, and we just luv the place. Menu is pretty simple, but everything we've had, which is just about everything by now, is absolutely dynamite. Favorites (in order): Tomahawk Pork Chop, Broasted Chicken, Broiled Haddock, and then most likely the Tenderloin Sandwich. Nice bar and restaurant. All of us (party of 6) had their Haddock broiled, batted and fried, baked. All the food was delicious from what the others told me except for my battered and fried Haddock. The fish was way over cooked to the point all the outside of every piece was burnt and hard. I was only able to get to eat maybe half of each piece. Their green beans were hard and chewy and the other side their garlic mashed potatoes had this distinct flavor of old potatoes. Very much a waste of $25. As a group we all had a complaint or two with each item. The only thing that pulled this meal out of the dumpster were their drinks. My opinion is that I'll not be returning unless dragged there by a team of draft horses. read more

Old Main Street USA tavern style restaurant. Just minutes from Fort Wayne. We enjoyed breaded pork tenderloin and double smash burger plus split sides of coleslaw and fries. The Village Inn was rocking at 6:00pm on a Friday night when we arrived! It must be the place to be in Roanoke on the weekend! We weren't there for the full bar or the music but for the butter fish and the prime rib. Our party of four was seated after about 15 minutes and even though the place was very busy our server did an excellent job and was helpful and upbeat. The prime rib was delicious and rare as I ordered. My buddy had the same and the women ordered the grilled and broiled halibut. The fish was perfectly prepared and the house salad was crisp and fresh! The baked potatoes were hot and fluffy! No complaints from our four top. The bill came to $180.00 with tip but well worth it for a nice out on the town! read more

The chefs are great, best tenderloin sandwich ever. The bartender on Tuesday could use some better personality. Maybe instead of discussing what a bad sinus infection she has and her problems be positive and happy instead. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. We decided to leave after waiting 45 minutes (in part because of an emergency) and the server still charged us for two soft drinks, apologizing for the inconvenience. The Roanoke Village Inn was highly recommended by someone at the Two-EE's Winery, and we were very pleased with our decision to dine here. We started with a glass of wine and an appetizer of fried green beans. And when I initially had trouble deciding between a glass of Riesling and Moscato, the waitress was happy to make a recommendation. For our entrees, I ordered the Deep Fried Haddock dinner with Lyonnaise Potatoes and Green Beans and my husband ordered the broiled haddock, which was covered in a delightful butter sauce. When I was a child growing up in Roanoke the Village Inn was a bar ignored. As I stayed in the area the place grew in popularity. It is one of my favorite places to go. No one knows me anymore but the service is extra ordinary. So friendly to everyone. The food is good. That is not necessarily why I go there. It is very nostalgic for me. Only complaint is that we came in on a Friday evening and the only available seating was at the bar. Not a problem, but there were 3 employees using a main room table to wrap silverware. This place looks like a dive from the outside but it is elegant on the inside especially upstairs. I had the breasted chicken which is really fried chicken. It was very good. I also had the coleslaw and fried mushrooms as a side. Coleslaw was too sweet but the mushrooms were plentiful and good. They had some Indiana beers on tap. Wife ordered a chicken breast sandwich and buffalo chips. Sandwich was ok and the chips did not taste like buffalo sauce. Sister in law got the port tenderloin and it looked epic. A regular stop for me, was surprised that I hadn't already reviewed this place. Roanoke has a variety of restaurants and bars, and this presents itself as just another Bar-n-Grill because I'm from Roanoke. BUT- The food here is TOP NOTCH, the drinks are amazing, the old town decor and setting is very quaint. They have seasonal special drinks that often are not well marketed, but will really spice up a night. Ask about them! Personal Favorite food is the Broiled Chicken Breasts. Sides are awsome, but I always order the sautéed mushrooms as a side. You don't get a few mushrooms, you get a CEREAL BOWL full of the best grilled mushrooms. My cardiologist wishes I would pick a different side, so I don't tell him. As for the Service- OUTSTANDING. Very attentive, VERY knowledgeable about their menu, VERY conscientious about keeping your drinks filled. THEY READ MINDS HERE! If i could rate 0 i would. We had reservations at 7:15p we got there and we weren't even acknowledged until 30 mins after we sat down. idc about "busy" we had reservations for a reason. We then had to wait 20 more mins to even order our food. We waited 1.5 hrs for our food and when we got it half of our food was ice cold, dry. We had a party of 10 and their menu says gratuity 20% for parties over 12 - which we weren't but still got charged for it. i paid almost $60 for a $30 meal. We had a great experience with friends in our neighborhood when we went to this restaurant. The service was outstanding (Ashley), and the food was very very good. Everyone had something different you can't go wrong with any of the selections. Can't wait to go back and visit them again. It is the perfect place for a nice night out. Went to go try this talked about hidden gem. Walking in it a A divey kind of place. Has booths along side of wall, couple tables and bar. We were instantly sat down a booth and waited on right away for a drinks. As we sat there it got busier and busier but the waitress was very attentive even though she was very busy. We started out with the fried mushrooms. Honestly, I've never seen mushrooms fried like this. They were fried by the slice and were quite large and they were really good. And then I ordered the tenderloin sandwich and my husband ordered the burger. That tenderloin sandwich was absolutely huge! Literally it could be two sandwiches! It was SO good!!!! The burger was also very delicious. The burger is sized just perfect. I believe there is a family room but the door was locked when we did try to return a couple days later with kids. Must of came when not open. Lol, yes I wanted another tenderloin sandwich. This place may be outside of the Fort a little bit but it's worth taking the detoured trip for the food. read more

Arrived at our table at 6pm. Had already got a drink from the bar while waiting for a table. Our party of 4 were waited on fairly quick, but it went downhill from there. Took close to an hour to get our salads. Had to flag the waitress down for another drink. By the time our food got there it was after 730, two of the four entrées were incorrect, and had to be sent back. The two that arrived correctly we're done eating before we got the two incorrect ones. The food was good, but the service really suffered. They did comp two of our meals. But in all, it was not a good experience. Another waitress that we assumed was maybe a manager pretty much through our waitress under the bus, and was sarcastic to us when we commented on how long it was taking to get our food. very unprofessional of her! read more

Gotta love this gem located in Roanoke, Indiana! The entire place has been remodeled beautifully with an industrial vibe. It's also unique as the entire downstairs is 21+, but if you're bringing the kiddos, you can eat upstairs in the "family room" (don't worry - there's still a bar up there too!). The bar is awesome, stiff drinks & I'm always very impressed with their beer selection. If you would like to start with an appetizer, you should definitely order the fried green beans - so good! On Fridays & Saturdays, they have prime rib as their special, which I highly recommend! There are two different cuts - king (16oz) or queen (12oz). Pro-Tip: all steaks on the menu can be custom cut, which is super awesome to choose just the right size. Each entree comes with two sides. I recommend the sautéed mushrooms & collard greens as my go to sides! The staff is great, with a lot of employees being family members of the owners. I'm a firm believer that when the owners & family of the owners are present, the service is always exceptional. My theory holds true for this place as well. So Fort Wayne - make the trip to Roanoke to visit the RVI - you won't be disappointed! read more

We have no idea if the food was good. I am not able to sit at a high table since I have a bad hip and knee. We needed a table and only 2 of us. The bartender suggested sitting outside since all of the tables able to seat more than 2 were reserved. We go outside on the patio and find a regular table. It was able to sit more than two. When the waitress came over to as after about 10 minutes sitting at the table, we were asked if there were more coming. My husband replied no just two of us. The waitress then stated the table was reserved. No sign on the table at all to Indicate it was reserved. It fast became clear unless we wanted to sit at a high table we were not welcome. We did not even try to explain I was not able to sit at one of the other tables. So we left. The waitress did not care we were leaving. I would not try going there nor recommend the place to anyone. I have never been treated that way ever! I've been in customer service for over 40 years and would never treat customers this way. We were just two people so no big deal right? If you keep treating people this way it will become a big deal. It might be a good idea to ask if your customer has a reason why they cannot do something in particular. read more

RVI is a favorite of ours. Quality food and even sometimes when the restaurant is busy the atmosphere is enjoyable, the service exceptional and the food worth the wait. Been coming to the Village Inn over 30 years. For me, they have the best tenderloin in Indiana, and I've had my share all over. Really nice inside. Excellent professional service. Plenty of cold craft beers on tap, as well as generous cocktails. Fish is also very good. They have a very good Slaw Burger called "The Big Yonk." We generally hit the Village Inn only 3 or so times a year. It seems the deep fried fish goes down hill a little each visit. It was over cooked & hard to even chew, not the quality I want to pay $14 for...3 scrawny pieces of fish & 2 so-so sides. The slaw used to be so creamy, it nearly had any dressing. The potatoes had as many chunky cut onions as potato slices & both were limp, greasy & barely grilled, my fault because I normally would request well done. read more

Last night was our first time to the Village Inn. We went with some friends who recommended it. The wait staff was very friendly. I ordered the fried haddock. It was delicious and HUGE portions!!! The buffalo fries tasted more like cajun fries but either way they were really good! The bread that was brought to the table was some of the best I'd ever had. My husband tried to order the lobster bisque but they didn't have it. Bummer. So he ordered the soup of the day which was vegetable beef. About 10 min later our waitress came back & told my husband she had told him the wrong soup & that it was black bean instead.
