I definitely recommend making reservations in advance to eat here. Cork N' Cleaver is a busy restaurant. They are busy for a reason, because their food is wonderful. The prices were very fair for the quality. Most restaurants of this caliber to charge more. My wife and I both got the filet and they were both cooked perfectly. The sides were also great and flavorful. We both got the salad bar and certainly recommend it. It's a very high quality salad bar. We got the lemon cake for dessert and that was also a wonderful decision. Cork N' Cleaver is a fancy restaurant that is perfect for any date night or celebration. Easy 5 stars.

One of wife's favs, stopped in for dinner during the week. Usually a good experience but a bit rough this time. Had mushrooms for appetizer, wife had prime rib and I had almond crusted walleye. First off, wife's drink sent back with instructions to help. Then, steak came, no steak knife. Had to go and get one. Walleye was not very good. Vegetables overcooked and fish was flavorless. Sent it back. Enjoyed the salad bar. Waitress was disappointing. Two tables in station but hard to find her and fake Barbie smile was insincere. Manager did stop by about the walleye and removed charge from check, which was appreciated. Total check was $89 with walleye removed.

This is my go-to restaurant for a special occasion! The food quality and service are always good! You get what you pay for, literally at this place. The salad bar is the best one I have ever had in my life. Would always return for another fancy dinner!

Cork N' Clever is the place in Fort Wayne for a good steak. During my most recent visit, I found parking in the main lot challenging as always, yet the bar at 7 pm on a Summer Saturday was surprisingly not busy. Maybe everyone was away at the lakes or choosing to sit at tables in the restaurant. Both bartenders behind the bar were fun to chat with and so positive while making drinks. Cork N' Clever has an extensive wine list, but I opted for a French 75. If you haven't been here before, you'll probably be surprised when they hand you the menu - it's engraved on a heavy clever. Another unique and fun aspect of this restaurant is the salad bar. There are cold bowl plates for your salad along with items to add like caviar and jelly beans. I'm still not sure where to put the jelly beans on my salad, so I wish there was a separate small bowl you could put your jelly beans in. For dinner I had a 7 oz. filet and Brussel sprouts. They were probably some of the tiniest Brussel sprouts I've seen, but the favor was good. The steak was cooked perfectly, but the presentation of the entree was a little lacking. I took leftovers to go and was given a Styrofoam box. I know this is pretty normal in the Midwest, but it's not the most environmentally friendly.

Brick walls with arches, open kitchen, fantastic salad bar! Service comes along the level of the pricing. My friend had the walleye he said this about it, it's got all kinds of textures and flavors with potatoes, brussel sprouts, and peppers. It's wonderful! We ordered off menu and got crab cakes dinner. I don't think I've ever had a baked crab cake before. It was a very interesting flavor. Definitely fresh crab and very good. Both dinners came with a salad bar and we added a $20 unlimited salad bar. It was more than we could eat for sure. The salad bar was everything I love about a salad bar. So fresh. We will definitely be back.

Good, not great... First time at Cork n' Clever, which is supposed to be considered a "Fort Wayne Original"... While, it was okay, it certainly wasn't worth $185. The restaurant is dated and had an 80s throwback vibe (80s elevator music literally playing in the background), but was clean and well kept. The service was good and prompt. As for the food, nothing to write home about... The crab cakes were okay, but nowhere close to the crab cakes at Ruth's Chris (and definitely not worth $18 for two puny crab cakes). The best part was the salad bar, which was awesome... It was very fresh and had many options. Our steaks were cooked very good to order (medium rare), but they were not seasoned well, if at all. We've never had to salt a steak at a steakhouse, but our steaks were bland and required it - Pretty disappointed with that. By and large, Cork n' Cleaver was alright... Not as good as Don Hall's Gas House and the food is grossly overpriced.

Still outstanding!! Excellent service! Warm and welcoming facility. Best salad bar in Fort Wayne! Bar service is consistently satisfying!! Any entree you get will be designed, presented and cooked to perfection!

I've heard about this place from my fiancé and others. They're not kidding about the menu being served on a cleaver. That's gnarly. First time here! Enjoyed the bacon wrapped artichoke hearts, coffee pepper crusted ribeye w/ blue cheese butter and teriyaki filet mignon w/ garlic butter. Also...if you have room in yo belly, order the mud pie. It really is a nice treat to share for 2-4 people. Our waitress Amy was so kind and candid. Highly recommend bringing people out of town here or treat yoself. Life is too short, enjoy! Overall, the ambiance is cozy yet romantic. We sat next to the fireplace which was a nice touch. Background music is soothing too.

The menu is printed on a metal/wood meat cleaver. So unique!

Had an exceptional dinner here recently while in town for a funeral. Our table was a group of 10, and Katie was our server. She was definitely on top of her game! We started with a couple of bottles of Malbec, along with a shrimp platter (various marinades, around 20-25 shrimp). So tasty! When it came to entrees, most of the table chose steaks of various sorts (filet, ribeye, etc), and there were some amazing options. I chose the Black & Bleu salmon. I was a little concerned it would be "too saucy" but it wasn't. The bleu cheese was grilled atop the salmon fillet, and the flavor was more like a marinade than a sauce. It was truly amazing, and maybe one of my favorite salmon dishes I've ever had. The salad bar was great - several types of lettuces to choose from, along with what seemed like an unlimited range of toppings. The restaurant was very full, and I know the family I was with had made reservations a week or so in advance, so keep that in mind.

The restaurant only holds about 50 dinners and the tables are uncomfortably small & close together. It's also located in a neighborhood that might make some people take caution. On the flip side...The Oyster Bar offers 130 years of history in a uniquely older facility that features fresh high quality seafood along with outstanding service. You decide what you value and how you want to spend your dinning dollars. The Oyster Bar is located south of downtown area on Calhoun Street. The vintage building is well signed, lighted and offers an easy-in-easy-out side parking lot. The restaurant only holds about 50 dinners with a limited number of tables and a small bar. I would suggest that you call and make a reservation as The Oyster Bar is a fairly popular place to dine. Inside the building has retained the historic look. The foyer is very small...just like walking into an old house. They feature lots of dark hardwoods and a vintage looking bar. The tables are located very close together as you would expect in a small area. I think the tables are smaller in size as it was difficult to accommodate all the dishes, menus, glasses and cell phones. The white table linens and attractive "sea going" decor help set the experience. The staff on this night was very friendly, professional and helpful. They made us feel welcomed quickly. The waitress was great about removing dishes, refills and stopping to check on us. It's easier when all your tables are close together. Overall the food was excellent. Fresh seafood in Fort Wayne isn't common place. The food creations were delicious & creative without being all that unique. You will find a fairly broad menu to meet most dinner's choices. Here is a run down on the items we ordered: -Calm Chowder: very creamy without being overly rich to taste; moderately thick in consistency with a mild clam flavor; several larger pieces of clam meat; very good taste -Oysters on the half shell: beautiful presentation; oysters were fresh taste; no salty or "sea" tastes/smells; a small dab of sweet cocktail sauce and ground horseradish were nice add; oysters were outstanding!! -Fried Hushpuppies: no corn meal breading here. The outside was lightly fried and slightly oily to taste. The inside was slightly sweet, soft and moist. The chipotle aioli sauce has a very mild southwestern flavor that accented the sweet breading. -Crab Cakes: two fairly large cakes packed with real crab meat; gently fried; the fresh seafood flavors come through nicely; another very good dish! -Seafood Au Gratin: plenty of chunks of scallops and crab buried in a delicious lobster cream sauce and layer of mozzarella cheese. The sauce was creamy and mild without being rich. The seafood pieces retained their original flavor. The cheese topping was nice and gooey which held the seafood & sauce together nicely. Delicious dish!! -Diver Scallops: large and plump scallops cooked perfectly; very tender and moist without a "fishy" taste - nicely done!! I very much enjoyed the dinning experience. I love restaurants that retain and feature an older buildings character. I appreciate high levels of service and outstandingly delicious food. Especially when it comes to fresh seafood!!

The flavor is bold and the cheese is thick and what a cheese pull! My mouth just watered at this! We also had a pretzel bread. It came with delicious, sweet cinnamon butter. We loved it! For our main, we ordered the steak medallions and mushroom risotto. People...... The steak was cooked PERFECTLY! It was so easy to cut, and it melted on your mouth. The seasoning was delicious! The mushroom risotto was the perfect consistency--creamy and scrumptious goodness. This dish is PHENOMENAL!!! To finish, we had a warm, moist, and delicious carrot cake with cream cheese icing, caramel drizzle, and topped with walnuts. There is cinnamon ice cream on the side. However, Big Eyed Fish is pretty good fish in its own right, local...and flavored like the taste I remember from the past. We visited the Big Eyed Fish location on Well's street. They have an express shop located on Huegenard Road and another dine in location at Leo Crossing. This location has been in service since 2003. It has a nice diner feel with super friendly service. You can find parking on the street or in the lot behind the store. The inside is rather large and works well for parties up to about 8 diners. There is a small bar and TV's if that is your thing. They also have a big and varied menu including breakfast items. Here is a run down of the food items: -Fried Fish: the white fish fillet is thin and fried with a thin breading. The fish is moist and tender. It will flake apart with a fork or by hand. The breading has a slight amount of seasoning and isn't very oily to taste. It has a taste similar to the Fish & Stroh style if you are familiar with that. The fillets are not very filling. For an extra $3...I went with the all you can eat option. Delicious fish! -Tarter Sauce: I love tarter sauce. In fact I might order fish to go with my tarter sauce - lol. This mayo based sauce is reasonably thick, somewhat sweet and has a hint of pickle flavoring. It's creamy and makes a perfect complement to the fried fish flavor. -Baked Beans: this side really surprised me. The bean is small and contained hamburger pieces. The sauce had a slight BBQ flavor but not enough to classify it as a BBQ baked bean dish. The meat flavor was a nice add to the smooth tomato spiced sauce. Delicious!! -Cole Slaw: I kind of use KFC as the standard for Cole Slaw. This is very similar. The slaw pieces are cut very small with only one kind of slaw. Seemingly no additives - just slaw. The sauce is mayo based, a bit more sweet along with a hint of vinegar. I loved this side too! -Hush Puppies: these balls are pretty small in diameter. The inside is very modista and sweet with that southern style corn bread taste. The outside is thicker, a bit oily to taste and has a mild corn bread taste/texture. These are probably some of the best hush puppies I've had in my southern raised life.

Hubby had the not-your-ordinary wedge salad as a starter (pictured). Bacon, tomato, bleu cheese crumbles, hard boiled egg, and a creamy balsamic dressing. Very tasty! Me, always a sucker for good French onion soup (pictured), which I always order with no bread or croutons. Broth has authentic rich flavor with just the right amount of simmered onions. The only thing that might have made it even better would have been the use of Gruyere (or Swiss, instead of what seemed to be mozzarella) for the cheesy melt topping the delicious soup. Our chosen entrees tonight were the cashew crusted Mahi Mahi (pictured) served with orzo and fresh green beans, and the seared tuna (pictured) served on an umami blend of Napa cabbage and broccoli lightly dressed in sesame ginger, just-right heat, and peanuts. It can be found across the parking lot from Buffalo Wild Wings. There is always plenty of parking near the door. The restaurant is large with an inviting & modernly decorated bar and dinning area. The team here is very friendly and professional. They never disappoint. Making reservations on line is easy. I would definitely recommend reservations! On this night we were seated in the indoor-outdoor dining area. This area is more open, well lit and less intimate than the man dinning area. There were two large groups (12 and eight) seated in this area - nice for larger gatherings. You have a nice view of the lit outdoor fire place. BC has a very large menu. There is something for everyone. Overall BC is rather pricey but not as expensive as some. We started with our favorite corn bread appetizer. It's a simple 2-3 person dish. The bread is more like a southern cake than a traditional corn bread. The inside is soft, sweet and moist. The whipped butter is fluffy, smooth and makes a delicious accent to the corn bread. My wife ordered the southwest grilled chicken salad. She said the chicken was perfectly grilled and moist. The lettuce and fixings were very fresh. The dressing was very light and had a hidden cayenne pepper kick. The salad seemed to grow as you got to the bottom of the bowl - lol. My house salad was also very fresh. Plenty of side items to accent the lettuce. The buttermilk ranch dressing is somewhat unique. It has a smooth and light buttermilk texture without a strong buttermilk flavor. There are hints of ranch dressing flavors. Nicely done! I ordered the BC meatloaf. This was a mountain of deliciously blended types of meats, onions, peppers & spices. You could pick up the short rib, brisket, bacon and ground chuck flavors. The collection was moist, nicely spiced & seasoned and delicious! There was plenty of fresh and perfectly steamed broccoli - nice crisp. The Mac & cheese side was done to perfection! Nicely cooked noodles along with a very smooth & creamy white cheese sauce. It was so delicious that I had to scrap the sauce from the bottom of the dish. Overall, Black Canyon is an outstanding place to dine. You always feel special whether it's a special occasion or just dinner out. Time in and time out...food & service are outstanding!!
