Front Porch is a cute coffee shop in the OBX with multiple locations! They just opened up a drive through location in Kitty Hawk and had their soft opening today. They have many seasonal choices of lattes and other drinks and small bites to eat. The new location in Kitty Hawk has ample seating and the drive through makes it super convenient. I love this little coffee house! There are several Front Porch throughout the outer Banks. I contacted this one (kill devil hills, MP 6) to provide coffee for a senior event for our church (Church of the Outer Banks). Maria was so easy to work with and so accommodating! It was a relatively last minute arrangement, but she handled it with grace. The coffee was perfect, the carafes very nice for the event. And the cost was better than some other coffee shops on the island. I also love to go in from time to time to get coffee. I use their app and love their little reward system. A great place indeed! Maybe we picked a bad time (a Thursday afternoon) to pop in for a cup of coffee. The baristas seemed less than thrilled for customers. Their drip coffee is self serve and was cold and very weak. When we mentioned that it wasn't very hot, there was no offer to make us a fresh pot. Instead, they suggested an americano. Fine, that's ok, but also twice the price of a basic cup of coffee and also tasted like a basic cup of coffee. We weren't impressed. read more

We finally found a coffee spot in OBX that is worthy. Although we are staying in Avon, we made the drive to KDH and found this cute place. It is an artsy kind of cafe and they have snacks as well a full coffee menu. I had my usual latte and it was quite good. Although they only have to go cups (a pet peeve of mine) the drink was good. Flavor was smooth and the milk was well textured. The only slight ding might be that it was a little on the cool side even for a latte which is not usually the case for most coffee shops. Anyway, the drink was quite enjoyable! Overall, they have seating and good music playing. They sell merch and also sell a wide variety of beens which they roast. Overall, I was pleased to find this spot and would recommend. read more

Great coffee and friendly service at this location! Stopped in for an afternoon brew and was not disappointed. They have plenty of coffee roasts and several specialty drink options as well as flavorings to create your own drinks and an assortment of baked goods. They have a food menu as well but we didn't try anything to eat this time. I asked for a cappuccino with coconut milk and sugar free English toffee syrup and it was delicious! Ordered two iced Matcha lattes. One with vanilla, one with lavender. Got two with lavender. My receipt was taped to a cup with another persons name on it. The matcha tasted watered down and the lavender is very chemically tasting. read more

This place, much like so many places here, is very unassuming on the outside, but when you walk in, your sensations are inundated with the choices! We walked in on a late Sunday afternoon for a quick pick-me-up and got the Heath Bar drink: the drink it was divine and refreshing (and lovingly sweet if you dig that sort of thing because I'm no coffee purist here, sorry), as was their spinach and cheese croissant that they kindly warmed up for me. Yay a coffee shop at the beach that opens at 6 am even on Sundays! I know it's early and a Sunday, but I was so happy to find this cafe while visiting the beach. As I'm writing this review, I realized that I went to the Nags Head location not this location in Kill Devil Hills. I'm assuming they are similar. If not, my bad. Well at Front Porch Cafe I ordered a matcha latte and chocolate croissant. They heated up the croissant for me, but it cooled off quickly surprisingly. When I went to eat it there wasn't much chocolate and it had hardened. It still tasted good and paired well with the matcha latte. They do not add sugar to the matcha unless requested. I asked for no sugar and it tasted great. Lovely strong matcha flavor. If you like sweet matcha, I recommend adding sugar to it. Overall good experience and I recommend this business to others! read more

They have plenty of inside seating and some outside seating as well. They have a selection of little gifts as well as whole coffee beans that you can grind yourself. I got the iced caramel macchiato, and my husband got a frozen blended iced caramel coffee. Maurices are friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and the coffee was delicious and smooth. Will definitely come back. Way better than the chain coffee shops. Clean with plenty of seating. read more

Perfect coffee/cafe in manteo. The spot was huge and cool so you had a place to relax in the air conditioning on a hot summer day or sit outside on the dog friendly porch. Smelled amazing but I just got an iced tea they had a ton of different flavors of hot and iced tea as well as flavored syrups for your coffee and what looked to be delicious iced lemonades. Great local coffee shop with a lot of beverage options and fresh bagels and pastries. I was visiting from out of town and really needed to find a place with some good coffee. So glad I found this place! I came multiple times. There is no indoor or outdoor seating, they only do pick-up or delivery. They follow COVID-19 health and safety guidelines very carefully. All employees are wearing masks and customers must wear a mask to enter the building and be served. Signs are posted inside and outside to remind people to wear a mask and stay six feet apart. There are also signs inside to remind people to stand apart while they're in line. read more

Sustainably sourced coffee and locally roasted! This is my go-to spot to get coffee in the OBX area. Their original store is the Kill Devil Hills location, but there are two other awesome locations in the area as well (I recommend the Manteo location). My usual order is just black coffee by the cup (the blend varies), but I've also tried their Depth Charge--which is the ultimate way to wake up. Pairing coffee with a pastry is the way to go. This was my first time venturing into Front Porch Cafe. I have passed by many times, but never looked them up on yelp to checkout reviews. I had around 45 min to kill, so what better way than a coffee shop. Front Porch is located at mile marker 6 in a small strip on the Sound side. The strip is small and signage decent. The lot is shared with several other businesses including Chips Wine & Beer, so at peak times I can see an issue. However on a weekday morning no problem at all. The lot and walks were clear of debris. The place is darn cute inside with kinda a Tiki theme going on. A bakery case is up front and coffee menu on a chalk board behind the counter. They offer Kill Devil Coffee and lots of variety of tea. The shop also has a lot of hand crafted items. The space is divided up into two rooms. Major renovations will begin next week and last through the second week of February. The cafe will close during this time. They have already began painting. The restrooms are located in the back. I found everything in working order and clean. I ordered a white chocolate mocha and snagged the last ham and cheese croissant in the case. They kindly warmed it up for me. The two women staff were meh, kind of surprised me because with regulars they were super friendly. The coffee was tasty and the croissant yum. I would return and look look forward to the new space. What I hope would change is the attitude of staff with new customers. read more
