I had some of the best shrimp and grits at Henry's recently, Kat at the bar was so kind and really made the experience rememberable!

I ordered the kids shrimp meal with a salad and a French onion soup. The shrimp were absolutely delicious! The salad was also good, but I don't like the way they make the cucumber dill anymore. The French onion soup was not as I remembered it. I would go to the French restaurants in town for better French onion soup. All in all, shrimp was so worth it!

Great place! Beautifully furnished and a decent menu. The service has been outstanding in the last two visit. The ambiance, quiet with some background music. They could use a nice jazzy track playing. The menu is somewhat mixed. They could have more pasta dishes. What we got tonight though was all delicious. It was the second time we went here and we weren't disappointed.

UPDATE: Four of us had dinner last night (14 November 2023). Dan, the general manager, invited my husband and me to try this place again to make up for my disappointment of crab cakes I had on my first visit. I ordered the salmon Florentine risotto special of the evening which included tomatoes, spinach and onions. The salmon was so tender and light, definitely not overcooked. The risotto didn't have a heavy cream sauce, which I appreciated. And just enough parmesan cheese to not overwhelm the salmon. My husband had the Hank's Mom's meatloaf, along with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts with bacon. He loved it all. The meatloaf, three slices, came with a side of gravy. My friends meals were very good also (Henry's amazing noodles; and a salad with blackened shrimp). Dan really stepped up to the plate to make up for our first visit. Thank you Dan! Even the Chef came out and asked how we liked our meals. Everything was great. Our waitress was Nancy who provided great service. This place is casual yet comfortable. We were told this has been open for 25 years. On our next visit, I want to try the shrimp and grits or the parmesan-crusted chicken or the grilled flank steak or.....

    Unsweetened iced tea

I had the opportunity to have lunch at Henry's this afternoon. It was highly recommended by my coworkers. They mentioned Henry's salmon was the best, unfortunately I don't care for seafood. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea, not easy to get in the south. So I was pleasantly surprised to get it! Since I was beyond hungry, I opted not to get a salad, but to try their BLT and a side of fries. The wheat bread was super tasty and so was the applewood bacon! There was just the right amount of mayo to make it yummy, but not slippery. Here's why the 4 instead of 5 stars. The waitress, Jacqueline, was so sweet, she said, "you said you were hungry, so I gave you extra fries!" Unfortunately, the fries were terrible. I even tried them in catsup. Did not help at all. They were cold, tasteless and stale tasting.

The food was FANTASTIC! Make sure you order the CORNBREAD! Off the charts! The service was exceptional - GREAT customer service! The ambience is inviting and newly renovated - their historic bar is amazing and the overall personal touches are BEAUTIFUL! A++++

Hanger steak (definitely not medium well cooked)
    Caroline T.

Henry's was recommended by a few locals, but sadly it missed the mark. As Henry's was nearby, opted to do take out with their herb grilled salmon and hanger steak. The salmon was smaller than a regular fork and a pretty slim cut. The hanger steak was supposed to be medium well, but the center was completely undercooked and inedible with how badly it smelled. Hopefully this was a fluke, or maybe take out orders aren't their strong point? Either way, I'll probably skip the next time I'm visiting. The staff were friendly and eager to recommend dishes, and it took less than an hour to be ready for pick up.

What a fantastic evening at Dram Yard…read more We were a little concerned we might miss our 5:30 reservation after getting delayed by a seven-car accident on the bridge, but we arrived just a couple of minutes late and it wasn't an issue at all. From the moment we arrived, the experience was relaxed, welcoming, and exactly what we needed. We chose to sit in the beautiful courtyard, and with temperatures in the 70s, sunshine overhead, and a gentle breeze, it couldn't have been a more perfect setting. The outdoor gazebo bar creates a wonderful atmosphere for enjoying a cocktail before dinner, and if the weather isn't cooperating, the indoor dining space is equally inviting. A special thank you to Sarah, whose service was outstanding. She was cheerful, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. The restaurant wasn't crowded, which made for a peaceful and unhurried dining experience. For drinks, I ordered the Ghost Town, while my wife enjoyed the Venus Flytrap. Both were beautifully prepared and easy to see why they're among the restaurant's popular cocktails. The food was equally impressive. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara, and it was exceptional. The kitchen even accommodated my request for extra freshly cracked black pepper, which took an already excellent dish to another level. My wife ordered the Little Gem Salad with shrimp, and it was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We also shared the Tuna Tartare Tostada, which was outstanding--beautiful presentation, fresh tuna, and a great balance of textures and flavors. Adding to the experience was a bottle of Albariño that paired wonderfully with the meal. What stands out most about Dram Yard is its atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can settle in, slow down, enjoy a handcrafted cocktail, and forget about the stresses of the day. Whether you're looking for a date night, an evening with friends, or simply a quiet place to relax, Dram Yard delivers. Excellent service, creative cocktails, outstanding food, and one of the most relaxing outdoor dining spaces in Wilmington. We'll definitely be back.

This was the 3rd time we've been here. The first two times we did not make it to the table because…read moreof the service. They generally do not care about the customer at all. The star of the show is definitely the food. The chef is super proud of his food, and he should be. The only reason I'm giving this a 4 on food instead of a 5 is because there was no iced tea (in the summer in the carolinas - not really forgivable) the water was nasty and the biscuits on my Benedict were towards the burnt side on the bottom. Honestly, everything otherwise was amazing. What was really great: The restaurant itself is AMAZING! It's like being transported to a Parisian cafe. I love that when you walk in, you immediately see the fully in view kitchen. I'm assuming a chef owns the restaurant and designed the layout. The patio is quaint and delightful and surprisingly private for a downtown sidewalk restaurant. The eggs on my Eggs Benedict could not have been more perfect. I'm not a fried potato person; however, the pan fried potatoes here are mostly whole and they are out of this world. They were exceedingly crispy on the outside and completely soft on the inside. My son ordered the dutch baby. It was delicious. The accompanied fruit was perfect and truly ripe. I feel like they would have to toss a lot of fruit to get the ones that were truly that perfect. What did not work: The water - it was about 85 degrees out and humid. There is nothing here refreshing. Water is served European style meaning no ice and out of the tap. Warm tap water on a hot day in South Carolina is just nasty. It's ironic that while Europeans visiting the US for the World Cup are posting social media reels raving about ice in drinks in the United States, meanwhile The Dram Yard is insisting on pulling all of the worst parts of eating out in Europe into their restaurant. I truly dislike restaurants that serve canned and bottled beverages. It screams, "nickel and dime". If you bought your cans of soda at Costco and charged $4.00 for a can, I'd have to drink 9 cans before you're losing money. There is literally no reason to limit beverages other than driving higher profits. I hate price gouging. At the very least get a fountain and serve iced tea. SERVICE - the service staff simply makes you feel like they're doing you a favor by being open. Don't expect anything after that. When we arrived, the restaurant was at about 25% capacity with 2 food servers, who also double as the hostess. After waiting 10 minutes to be seated (yes...even at 25% capacity), service truly went downhill from there. It wasn't that the staff was rude. They were just not present and extremely slow. It honestly seemed like they were doing everything they could to not be seen. We needed salt, a refill of the water carafe and our check. That was it. The staff would come to our part of the dining room but then not even glance around or come by to see if we needed anything. I'm giving them a 2 because they were exceedingly slow and not present. When we did chase them down, I felt rude asking for help. The chef delivered our food. He was very proud and should be. However, here's the rub. The chef needs to learn that being in the restaurant business is not only about creating great food. It also requires front of house service and an overall dining experience that people are happy with. Right now, I'm walking away feeling: 1. great food and great atmosphere 2. terrible service 3. nickle and dimed me on drinks 4. doesn't have the sense to serve iced tea in the Caronlinas So - as much as I loved the food - there are too many restaurants in Wilmington that are good enough to overcome 2, 3 and 4 above. The Dram could be fixed so easily: 1. hire servers who want to be there and smile a little 2. put ice in your water 3. serve iced tea - at least in the summer months 4. get a soda fountain - it's 2026 Unfortunately, we won't be back because there are simply other options that, at the very least, hit 1, 2 and 3 with good food.

It's sort of Italian and sort of steak and sort of a little bit of everything. Really clean, strait forward , reasonable menu, nice ambience. It feels kind of high end but the pricing is definitely mid range. I selected the tomato basil soup as my appetizer. It came with a nice toasted crustini. It was a really good soup. It tasted fresh. It had a lot of body to it like, maybe they did the tomatoes here in the house from fresh. It was definitely tomato. The basil was kind in the background, but it was a true red sauce. It was almost tomato paste or tomato sauce flavor. I would've not complained if they given it to me over a bit of penne.. It had a really nice flavor on it not too sweet not too acidic really a very good soup. It came out in a footed coffee cup so you're getting about one cup of soup. The main course was the broiled seafood platter. It was anchored by a large piece of mahi-mahi, that was amazingly well prepared, firm and tasty. To the side of that was a wonderful crabcake, one of the best I've had anywhere and definitely the best in the Carolinas. It did not have too much breading and it had a wonderful texture with lots of good crab flavor. Drizzled across all of this were scallops and shrimp. The shrimp were a little overcooked if you asked me. The scallops were sweet and perfect and everything you would want them to be. The side that comes with this is their crab fries which essentially our beer battered french fries dusted with old bay seasoning. If you've ever had the crab fries at the Philadelphia, ballpark, this is the way they do it. For dessert, I ordered the lemon cello mascarpone cake. It comes drizzled with raspberry sauce. I had visions of lemon curd, and what I got was really good and really lemonade and good cake. But it's not a very big slice. I know about the weight staff. I don't know if they're all good, but mine was exceptional and lovely to talk with. The place was very busy. It had a nice vibe to it, it could've been in South Beach or Miami or Los Angeles, not that it was over over the top just that it was very clean and nice and well done. This is a professional restaurant not some amateur attempt. I recommend it.

We started off with the Pork belly banh mi sliders appetizer, which were an excellent choice. I loved the crunchy bits of the sweet and salty pork belly. For entrees we had the handhelds Bacon jam B.L.T. and Vegan burger. The Bacon jam B.L.T. was great. The vegan burger was okay - I didn't like the flavor as much and the big raw onion slice. Both entrees came with a choice of a side - we chose fries and sweet potato tots. Fries were good. Sweet potato tots were not bad but not as crispy compared to Mess Hall's tator tots. Also had the pesto flatbread with balsamic glaze, which was good. The flatbread was more on the softer side. It sure made for a tasty leftover snack. Service was okay. Highchairs are available.
