Our waiter Max was amazing. Max was very personable and provided us with excellent service. The restaurant was moderately busy, we were seated right away. The restaurant looks exactly the way it did when I moved away over 20 years ago. We started with a delicious basket of croissants. They did not disappoint. My daughter and I both had the Bbq Chicken Salad, our friend had the house salad and Tomato Basil pasta. We all shared the Chicken Florentine Flatbread. All of our items were cooked to perfection. Nicely finished tables and bar area. Large menu with something for everyone. Started with the kicked up shrimp. A good version of bang bang shrimp but I could have done with a little more spice. Had the grilled tuna steak sandwich. Asked for it with the ginger teriyaki sauce but not sure that happened. Bartender brought me their spicy honey sauce which was delicious. We love Rucker Johns. We often sit st the bar, chat up the regulars (always a friendly bunch) and order food to go. The service is always fast and friendly too. The menu is huge and the food is delicious comfort food - probably not a great place to go if you are dieting though! The atmosphere is welcoming and warm, has an "old school" feel to it that reminds me of my old hometown. Highly recommend trying them out. read more

This is a very good place to eat!!!! Lots of parking!! We were at this place once they opened up at 11am so no issues getting a seat. Greeted by a friendly hostess!! We had our pup with us so we ate outside in the patio. We had the croissant rolls with honey butter, THEY ARE TO DIE FOR, highly recommend them as a an appetizer!!! I'm still drooling! We enjoyed the islander chicken dish with grilled veggies, chicken Alfredo flat bread pizza, Carolina burger with fries. Everything was very yummy, hot and fresh!!! Service was good!! This place has some really great food! Their salads are the best I have had to date...the homemade ranch i could drink! The nachos great...shrimp beur blanc is my go too...I get 2 meals out of it. We were new in town and we got great service. The kitchen manager (James ) came out to make sure everything was good to go just because He overheard that the steak was not cooked with enough seasoning. He did make it right. Had lunch with some friends. We were told it would be fifteen minutes but in less than two minutes we were seated. Our waitress, Clarissa was friendly and attentive. I had the chicken salad croissant. $10.99 This is my regular dish I always get. It came with a side and I picked the coleslaw. My sandwich was tasty but I was disappointed in the coleslaw. it was very wet and vinegary. My friends had the chicken salad and the Texas burger with bread. Both enjoyed their meals. Short wait time and friendly staff. It was very busy and we were seated near the door so there were a lot of distractions and no ambiance. We almost felt like we were in the way. Hey Honestly, it is not a bad place, We went on a Day when Nachos were half price but it reminds me of that lace I went 30 years ago, sort of frozen in time look, Food was decent, the sevice was good but was it stellare no, but it would be a great place to do large groups and family get togethers. A really nice place. Since I am a "senior" i found the restaurant design really nice. It was very clean. The service was outstanding. The servers were attentive and they took care of extra requests dutifully like extra lemon and horseradish for our Prime Rib. The dinner salad stood out, it was fresh crisp and covered with nice toppings.The Prime Rib was very good and the au jus added to its flavor. The baked potato had many accoutrements. Here is the one negative. The server forgot my shrimp and brought them later. I wish she would've forgotten them completely. They were hot, that is the positive. The shrimp were slightly greasy and were way saltier than a salt pretzel from the mall. If you want a no fuss prime rib in the area this will more than do just stay away from the fried shrimp. read more

Three of us had lunch recently. It was our first visit. We were out shopping and came upon the place, so we decided to try it out. It's very large inside and it looked dated. We had excellent service by our young waitress. I'm sorry that I don't recall her name. I ordered the Little Italian Flatbread, which had roasted red peppers, Italian sausage, mozzarella and a marinara sauce. For a flatbread, it was quite tasty. It could have used more sausage, as the pieces were pretty small. The other two items that were ordered were the Texas burger, no bun and fully loaded with all sorts of goodies; and the seared tuna salad with a raspberry dressing. Our first trip to RJ's, overall not a great experience, but the food was good. Our server was either having a bad day or overwhelmed... "Samm" was not only not pleasant, but not great at serving. We were part of a large party, but another server handled the second table and did a great job with them! Our server however never gave us silverware, barely checked on us (we had to flag her down multiple times), and just all around wasn't nice. Now I understand we all have off days, but even without the pleasantries, she could've handle our table much better. On to the food, the sirloin sandwich was good perfectly and the mahi sandwich was excellent... the fries were phenomenal. Will be back again, but hopefully we have a different server. read more

First time comers- Lovely initial greet! Atmosphere was great, other servers checked on us! My sister said the house salad was worth more than the selling price. It came with a buttered honey croissant that was to die for! I personally LOVED my cheeseburger, the fries were unexpectedly delicious! The chicken served with pineapple sauce? EXCELLENT taste! I am blown away at this place and our lovely waitress Brielle. She is so welcoming and helpful! Request for her and you won't be disappointed. The picture doesn't do the food justice. I came back here with my family and they have pretty much stayed the same in terms of service and deliciousness. We ordered some potato skins to share to start our meal and they were a bit better than I remember them being. We came on a busy Wednesday night and the food took close to an hour to come out, but they were really busy so we weren't crazy upset. I could see some people getting upset though. I think my mother-in-law was about to kill someone if our food didn't arrive when it did. I ordered the Ultimate Club Sandwich and it was good. I think it would have been better if they used better quality bread though. It seemed like regular run of the mill sandwich bread. I think using a nicer bread would have really made the sandwich better. As a side I got the smashed sweet potatoes and they were pretty good. My father-in-law ordered the Texas Burger which comes without a bun, but it looked real good. I probably will try that next time we come here. The little buttered croissants are still crack and it is hard to just have one. My wife ordered the Island Chicken which I had some of and I liked the salsa that went with it. It was pretty tasty, but I didn't think it was a generous portion. Rucker Johns continues to cook tasty meals, but falls short of being great due to serving sizes being short of generous and prices that seem a tad bit off. Still with that said, if someone wants to come here, it is good food. read more

Rucker John's had excellent service by Nicole. My review of the food is that it is acceptable. My Ruben was well made however, the meat was not on there evenly so it was not an even sandwich to eat. Each bite was different in the amount of meat and cheese that was tasted. The club was made with great care and was quite tasty. My wife had no complaints over the salmon salad and everything seemed to be prepared as expected. My main issue is the spicy beans. The beans were overcooked and the only thing that you could taste was spice and heat. It had no character or personality and was rather boring. One of the main things to knock down my review from five stars to four stars was the fried mushrooms. The fried mushrooms were very tasty however, they were quite greasy. I was so looking forward to my ribeye steak sandwich. It was tasteless and, gray and didn't taste fresh. It almost didn't taste like steak. I ended up taking 1/2 home, but threw it out.
