TLDR: New specialty store in Manhasset that also happens to have a restaurant in the back. Only have been to brunch but an awesome addition to the Manhasset and Great Neck area. Unsure of what to eat, H&O came across the Yelp feed. With the limited reviews, we were unsure what to think but the pictures of the interior looked beautiful. So we went and so glad that we did. The front of the shop is a specialty store. It's very chic inside, kind of what you'd expect from a shop in Manhattan but this is Manhasset. The tables are in the back, we had made a reservation beforehand. There's grab-n-go upfront with an assortment of sandwiches, pastries, etc. I give them props because curated a menu that's Greek-centric yet brunchy enough to be interesting is difficult. We opted for the Fava Dip, a Greek Bowl, a Grilled Cheese and a Kefte Sliders. The Fava Dip was served cold with this toasty slices of bread that were insane. Just the right amount of herbed seasoning and brushed with olive oil. The Greek Bowl was basically a Greek salad with cubed tuna sashimi with a soy sauce vinaigrette. It's not a combination that you'd expect to find but it makes perfect sense.The acidity in the soy compliments the funk of the feta quite nicely. The Grilled Cheese was probably one of the cleaner tasting versions I've had. I personally prefer my grilled cheese full fat and plenty greasy but I enjoyed this one. It was served with a roasted pepper and baby arugula salad, which helped cut through the cheesiness and the truffle spread. The Kefte Sliders were interesting. It was probably the most interesting sandwich on the menu to me. The meat mixture is clearly Mediterranean, the tyrokafteri (spicy cheese) is obviously Greek but the sumac onions had a bit of a Middle Eastern twist. I appreciate the tart taste of the onions with the cheesy red meat. The fries it was served with were these crispy potato round pillows. We got a chance to chat with Julia who's the chef and she was a very pleasant host. She also walked us through the different ingredients and where everything is procured. If you're into that kind of thing, it makes you appreciate all the subtle flavors that make each dish stand out. If you've been to Greece, you'll understand when you taste simple things like the bread or the tomatoes. She also offered us dessert as well. A chocolate baklava bite and a Turkish-style filo pastry. Both were equally delicious. All in all, I loved everything I had. Ironically, after looking through the menus on the website - I feel the Lunch/Dinner probably have stronger offerings. So if I enjoyed brunch, I have a strong feeling I'll love dinner. Looking forward to trying more. I know they're light on reviews but go give it a try. Firstly, one main thing I notice when I try a new place is their aesthetic. This place is a very cute combo of a winery, cheese deli, coffee shop/cafe. They have really cute light installments and wall paints which makes it a cute place to catch up with a friend or even go on a first date. Walking in, there were a lot of people coming in and going, but not enough that you would feel claustrophobic. I came in for brunch and the food I tried was really good, I stuck with more of the vegetarian options this time around but everything was delicious. The food looked appetizing and tasted good as well. I had the hazelnut pancakes, falafel sliders, grilled cheese, and the bougatsa. Every single dish tasted delicious. The bread in the grilled cheese was herby, the hazelnut spread was warm and runny, and the bougatsa was nicely warm and covered in cinnamon and powdered sugar -NOM! Good place for a classy-casual dine in experience. It has a market place up front with restaurant style seating in the back and at the entrance. Staff was courteous and friendly. We visited the place for a late afternoon brunch on a Saturday, was quite busy with all tables occupied - seemed understaffed/slow to service with one server bussing close to 10 tables. Solid place to go for a bite! The atmosphere is light and airy, and the front is open to the street. There's a grocery up front and tables in the back. When my friends got there, there was no staff so we had no idea what to do, so after waiting ten minutes, we had to go to the back and ask if we should seat ourselves, which was weird. We got the beet salad and the shakshuka, and I got the almond milk latte. The salad was hearty and had two delicious felafels in it. The shakshuka was good too, just small. My latte was fine, nothing special! My friends got the iced coffees and said they were too bitter. So overall, some ups and downs in a casual, cute neighborhood spot. read more

Heavenly food! Both food and the service exceeded our expectations, which was tough to do on a busy Valentine's evening at a restaurant. I absolutely love this place! Excellent calamari, falafel, and pita with tzatziki sauce. I do miss their falafel sliders, which they used to serve for lunch with a side of potatoes (I usually switched it up for cucumbers). We ate here the other night and it was phenomenal. We started with the dip trio and halloumi appetizers followed by the mushroom risotto and mini pita. Everything was delicious. I had a spicy mango margarita that I would order again in a minute. At the end of the meal they brought out little spoons of Greek yogurt with grapes and it was amazing. The best vegan spinach pie I have ever had. I was with my mom and she got the regular spinach pie and she claimed the vegan one was much tastier. So thrilled that this business has vegan options. We were running out of gas on the LIE and looking for some hot tea when we chanced upon a culinary oasis called Herb&Olive packed with artisanal Greek cuisine to stay or go. Eileen said it was the best spanakopita she ever tasted. We were delightfully served by Stella, Zoya and George the owner who urged me to try their ambrosial fruit based vinegar. I was glad he did. We came away with excellent olive oil, homemade pastry, organic tahini and some lovely vinegar. They have an intriguing menu for lunch and dinner. Can't wait to go back. Have been here a few times, for dinner and most recently for brunch. I love this place because it's got cozy seating in the back of the store, and an actual greek market in the front of the store. While the grocery in the front is expensive, it's to be expected due to the fact that they're specialty items that are imported. I came pre covid and during covid and LOVED the covid precautions they took by opening the store front garage style to ensure there was ample air circulation!! While the dinner service was absolutely fantastic, my friend and I tried a bunch of different items, their brunch was even more impressive!! My sister and I tried the shakshouka, waffle with this amazing hazelnut cream and chocolate, and my personal fave, the kids mac and cheese lol! I dream of this mac and cheese on a daily basis, they used spiral pasta and this amazing concoction of cheeses and just the right amount of crunch from the bread crumbs on top, this is the stuff dreams are made of!!!!!! The waffle was also hands down one of the best waffles I've had, so fluffy and delish and the hazelnut cream was just mind blowing!!! This is such a beautiful space, it's really a pleasure to relax here on a slow afternoon. Food is surprisingly good, we got the shrimp pasta, mushroom risotto, and a salad, everything was great. And the cocktails were super refreshing, perfect for these dog days of summer. Herb&Olive is a cool mix between a mini market and restaurant. Everything looks so nice the minute you walk in. There aren't a lot of tables for the restaurant portion, but it's still very spacious and comfortable. Service was great throughout the entire meal. I came here with friends for a Sunday brunch and everything was delicious. To start, we had the Dip Trio and it came with pita. All the dips were fresh and flavorful and the pita was so fluffy. Next, we got the octopus which came with the Fava spread. Flavors were there, but I personally preferred if the octopus was a little more charred. Anytime I see Veggie Crisps, I must order it. These did not disappoint; they were crispy and paired so well with the tzatziki. For entrees, we also had the pork mini pita and the shrimp pasta. The mini pita was not so mini; it was actually a decent size. It tasted really good and the flavors were all there. The meat was also tender and soft. It was very tasty, the tomato sauce was seasoned well, the poached egg wasn't runny like I like it but I understand they have to cook the egg through to avoid problems. I've been wanting to try this place as it keeps popping up on suggested places that I would like. The suggestions were spot on! We came here around lunch time so it was packed. I didn't realize this place was like half restaurant and half Greek store. We found a table to sit right away even though it was busy, so that was great. When you walk in there is a small Greek store where they sell things over the counter or you can pack to go as well. Everything looked delicious, so now I wish I would have taken a picture so that my description could be more clear. The food was pretty good and the portion sizes were very good. We got the pita sampler and I love beets so of course I asked to have a double portion of the beet hummus, it was delicious! We also got the Bifteki and the mushroom risotto. Everything was amazing and didn't take too long to come out. The service was great too! I visited for lunch with some friends on a Friday afternoon. The service was particularly slow for it being a weekday. We opted for tzatziki with pita as an appetizer; it was very good and tasted fresh! I also got a caramel latte which was decent. There weren't that many options apart from sandwiches and salads. I decided on the chicken sandwich as my entree which came with Haloumi, cucumbers, spinach, and olive paste. The sandwich was pretty underwhelming - it didn't have much flavor and the olive paste overpowered the rest of the sandwich. I'm not a huge fan of olives but I figured since it was a paste it wouldn't be as strong. If you don't like olives I would def avoid it. The french fries were delicious though! The aesthetic and ambiance of the restaurant is nice so I would give it another try, likely for dinner as the menu has more variety. read more

It's always a pleasure discovering a new Mediterranean restaurant. While recently in Manhasset, Long Island we chanced upon just that in Herb & Olive, a chic and classy establishment which is both bright and modern but at the same time welcoming and warm. Our first lunch was by chance. We were having some auto repairs done nearby and we discovered Herb & Olive on Plandome Road. The place was bustling at lunch but we still found a nice high top table. We viewed the patrons and their selections before making our choice; Falafel Sliders and a very well crafted Prosciutto sandwich. Service was a little slow given the crowd but we settled in and realized this place has a classy vibe and charm. We would have had wine, but decided on some Flat White cafes. We wanted to return and did so last week to sample their Winter Menu. Again crowded mostly with Ladies who Lunch and startup business types. My wife ordered the Beef Kokinisto ( a delicious type of Boeuf Bourgignon). I tried the marinated pork dish on a skewer--Konstosouvli which was amazing and fits the old adage "melts in your mouth." It was accompanied by an wonderful Tomato Chutney. Really interesting. The owner/patron Julia will graciously walk you though any questions. Beyond dining, Herb & Olive also offers a nice and varied adjoining Greek Market. Herb & Olive is a bit pricy but well worth the experience, and return. read more

My family went there for the first time yesterday for my birthday. Service was slow and cordial. We ordered "Dip Trio" to start, it was ok. I ordered the "Norsk Parchment Roasted Cod", it was tasteless and overcooked, the cauliflower and broccoli that came with the dish, were drizzled with a little glazed balsamic vinegar, very plain. The other two dishes my family ordered were "Shredded Lamb" and "Pulled Pork", both dishes were underwhelming and tasted like they came out of a microwave. I appreciate the gesture at the end when the waitress brought over 3 pieces of Baklava with a candle for my birthday.
