Do not come here if you're looking for communication and honesty. I purchased a car and when I came in to pick up up, the car wasn't even on the lot. The troubling part is that I called three times to make sure I could come in to get the car. I was told my salesman (Marvin Jean) was not in yet, should be in later, but it shouldn't be a problem that he wasn't there. In reality, the team didn't really care or bother to check. When I got in, around 11am, Marvin was there, and said he "came in early" for me. which was bullshit, because he would've told me the car wasn't on the lot before I spent money for an Uber. To make matters worse, my wife had taken the day off so we could take a drive, go to our favorite spot and indulge on some good food. Reservations were ruined, had a cancellation fee on that. Car arrived at 6pm. Marvin asked my wife what he could do to make the situation forgivable and she told him to take care of the Documentation Fee. He said by his honor and word that he would take care of it out of his own pocket if we reviewed him on Yelp, Google, Cars.com, DealerRater, etc. and sent a letter. The lease buyout was a nightmare due to lack of communication among staff departments regarding the status of my car. The car key was lost yet an employee still told me to pick the car up. An extra $2000 worth of repairs were attempted to be added to my loan due to lack of communication. Every time I interacted with a sales rep when emphasizing that I was on a budget, they would try to up-sell me at every opportunity. Horrible Service-They Broke My Car-Beware! I used to take my car in for regular service only to my Honda dealer when I lived out of state and they were fantastic, so I assumed the same when I moved to Boston. Boy was I wrong! My car (which was working great) was in for scheduled maintenance which included tire rotation and oil change. They told me I needed $2000 in repairs which I knew wasn't true because the things they said I needed done had already been done and I had a record of them. So I declined the extra work. When I got my car back, my TPMS sensor was broken (not broken prior), the oil pan was was so loosely hand-tightened it was leaking oil, and the dipstick was jammed in and now won't come out (estimate $600-800 to take apart the engine to retrieve broken pieces). They deny all of this and refuse to be accountable but no one else has touched my car. Do not go here unless you want your vehicle back in worse condition than when you brought it in. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I decided to do business with this dealership. While the transaction with the sales person went fairly smoothly (or so I thought until issues began to arise, and I was the one to discover them and had to remedy them with numerous unreturned calls, msgs, trips to the dealership....), staff and management seem incompetent, unknowledgeable about many aspects of their business, and they attempt to pass the blame for their mistakes/oversights on others (the finance company, another staff member, myself) rather than take responsibility for their error(s). When I had to return to the dealership yet again (4th time, I believe) yesterday to deal with an ongoing issue and brought up a SEPARATE ongoing issue, management actually asked me, with an attitude, how HE was supposed to know that what should have previously been done was not actually done. I tried to explain that it was my understanding that part of his job was knowing/ensuring that employees are doing what they're supposed to be doing, but he didn't seem to get it. In short, the whole place is unprofessional, incompetent and should be avoided if possible. I know I won't be returning my Honda here when the lease is up. And, lastly, as I sat in the manager's office for about 40 minutes, almost 2 months after signing the lease contract, and signed a NEW contract because "Honda Financial must have lost" the 1st one Herb Chambers sent, my 10-year-old daughter sat in the waiting area and got an EARFUL as a nearby employee, talking on a phone, was dropping "the n-word and f-word" all over the place. These people are scammers, the listed price on the 2012 Honda Civic I financed from them was $11,000 my loan from the bank was 13% so roughly $14,000 total. The "best" they could do with my $1,000 down was $250 a month for 6 years, let's do the math. 250*12=3000 x 6 = 18,000 - 14,000 = 4,000... Why is the dealership pocketing $4000 on a car that is eight years old? Miles on the vehicle is 28,000, yes it's a Honda but it's NOT new. Let's see. Things started off great, then they got ugly, then I bought a car, so.... intrigued? Keep reading. A salesman named Arthur Lauzier assisted me the instant I walked through the door, so we were off to a great start. Seemed like a genuinely nice guy, though I'll concede that he might just be a very convincing salesman that doesn't give a crap about me. I'm fine either way. Arthur was very helpful in answering my questions about the Honda CR-V and we had a great test-drive. However, I was very disappointed with the price he quoted me and, in as nice a way as I could, I let him know that. When it seemed he wasn't gonna budge on the number he quoted me, I confessed that I hate the haggle; the negotiation; the parry and joust.... so my plan was a simple one because I had only two rules: 1 - I am 100% honest in my dealings and I expect 100% honesty from the salesman. 2 - I still had four other dealerships to visit and my final decision would be made the next day (Sunday). Whoever gave me the best price wins. Simple. Well, Arthur said that Sunday was his day off, but I assured him that if the price he quoted me was the absolute best that he could do and nobody could beat him, he'd get the sale. Arthur said that any dealership will try to undercut his quote by a hundred or two hundred dollars to which I replied, "Unless another dealership was willing to cut at least a thousand off the price, I wouldn't bite." Arthur closed by saying, "Just make sure I'm the last call you make before you make a decision." Well, all four subsequent dealerships beat his offer by over a thousand; one by over two thousand... but to be honest, none of the CR-V quotes met with my satisfaction as I still felt they could come down considerably and still retain a decent commission. So.... I decided to switch gears (no pun intended) and ask about the Honda Civics they had. Here's where things started getting dicey. A salesman named Saurav Sherchan approached me on Sunday. Now, I'm not sure if it was just me or the fact that I name-dropped Arthur when he started to help me, but it was painfully clear that he wasn't too happy with having to speak with me. Perhaps Saurav was just having a bad day, though he DID offer me a chance to test drive a Honda Civic. I think he was just looking for a reason to get outside TBQH. When we returned to the lot and went inside, I did minimal "haggling" for a good price on the Civic and in the end, I agreed to purchase a "Lunar Silver" 2017 Honda Civic EX. Saurav ushered me over to their Sales and Leasing Consultant, Samuel Desroches who basically spent the next half hour having me sign my life away, trying to sell me on a bunch of extras that I didn't really want, though in the end, I'll concede that he DID sell me on the benefits of having an extended warranty as well as the interior/exterior Simoniz treatment. I was given assurances from Saurav that all of the paperwork would be in the glove compartment, that my car would be ready to pick up at 4:00pm on Tuesday the 12th, and he also gave me the number of someone I could contact to get car insurance in the interim. However, while I spent my Monday getting insurance for my new car, Herb Chambers spent their Monday firing Saurav Sherchan! Reason unknown, of course, but that presented the dealership with a bit of a problem because - surprise, surprise - Saurav hadn't quite wrapped on the work he was supposed to do to get my car ready by the time he got fired, so a guy named Victor Olivares was seemingly thrown into the mix like a 3rd String Quarterback, along with Arthur Lauzier to, I guess, wrap up the loose ends. So, I get on the phone with Victor and he starts snapping at ME for not picking up my phone earlier that day. I told him my wife had my phone for most of the day and it was only when he persisted in attacking me for not responding that I reminded HIM that I didn't cause any of the pandemonium that they were presently battling and, had they held their wad for a day before firing Saurav, maybe they wouldn't BE in this predicament. When I spoke with Victor in-person, he again gave me some guff for not being available to take his calls and said it'd be about another two hours before I could get my car. I asked if my being there talking to him was adding to that timeline to which he said, "Yes." He told me the sooner we can stop talking, the sooner he can get back to trying to get my car ready. Thankfully, when I returned two hours later, Victor said that our car was ready. He went over a few of the features inside the car before bringing us back inside for some last-minute paperwork. Looking back on the experience, I'd say it was mostly a good one. Sure, we hit a few speed bumps along the way, but it was a collaborative effort and this team got the job done when it counted. read more

The move to this location from Brighton put this place in shambles. Not that it was the best place to go to in the first place. Customer care and service severely dropped. I've been in here for 90 minutes waiting for an oil change and counting. As others have said, the place seems very unorganized and has shown no signs of improvement. 8/29/20 Mr. Chambers While I realize this email may never get to your desk I wanted to address it to you personally because your name is over the door and it is reflexive of you. Let me begin by saying myself, my wife and my family have purchased and leased many Honda vehicles from your Burlington store. Recently I have begun to search to replace my 2012 pilot with a 2020. I contacted your Burlington store and spoke to joe Santo who told me that the Black on black pilot which was my #1 choice was only avail at your Westborough and Boston stores and that I would have to contact one of them. I reached out to and had a very long email trail with Benson Tang who gave me some preliminary figures on a leftover 2020 elite trim pilot. The figures were "attractive enough" to get me to fight Boston traffic on a Friday (8/28/20 3pm) after work to visit your Boston location. When I arrived Mr. Tang was not available, and I was handed off to another gentleman and a very nice young lady who got the process started. I waited for the vehicle to be brought to me and as soon as I opened up the vehicle it was filthy with dog hair soda stains and crumbs. I asked the salesperson if he brought out the correct vehicle and he assured me he did, and this was a demo that the "gm" was driving on top of the condition of the interior (I took several pics) the vehicle had 2,450 miles on it!! Now let me say I arrived without an appointment and I have young kids and a dog, so I get it cars get dirty, so my problem is not so much with the condition of car the problem is how I was treated. #1 in none of my email conversations with Benson (and they are all saved) was the fact that this was a "used dealer demo" with 2,450 miles #2 when the salesperson that showed me the car saw my displeasure in its condition they were very matter of fact #3 after viewing the car the salesperson that was helping me I assume went to speak to Benson, or the floor manager about the vehicle and my displeasure, well I followed behind him and heard the entire conversation and the manager told the salesperson basically he manager said to salesperson "that is why we discounted so much" referring to the fact that it was a dealer demo with 2450 miles on it. We proceeded to walk back to the sales office where the salesperson explained the "generous" discount was reflexive of a thirteen cent a mile discount plus one rebate, they did their best to convince me that this was a bargain but I explained that I was not happy because Benson NEVER disclosed that this vehicle was used with 2450 miles on it. #4 bait and switch After walking out I literally got one half block when my phone rang and a second salesperson called me a young lady with a slight accent and she begged me to reconsider and said that if I would please pay $500.00 more they would get me a "brand new" black pilot. I told her I was not interested, and I felt that had they been honest upfront and disclosed the fact that the price and vehicle I was looking to buy was used with 2450 miles on it I would have made a purchase that day. Let me conclude by saying that I had every intension of buying a vehicle this week before months end and your dealership and the way I have been treated in the past was the #1 reason you were my go-to car dealer. But while this situation is meaningless to your business it was a huge setback I my plans to locate a vehicle for my family this month. I can't do it justice in conveying how deeply disappointed in the whole experience at your Boston store. Not at any time did I hear "I am sorry" no apologies nothing. While I have never considered really considered other Honda dealers after yesterday's treatment I feel that it what I will have to do. I spoke to Phylisha via email about the car i wanted and I stopped by Saturday after we couldn't reach an agreement at Boch Honda in Norwood. I already knew what i wanted so it was just a matter of sealing the deal. Parking sucks. it's smack dab in boston. Not a big honda dealership either but it's whatever to me. Word of advice for Herb Chambers, buy out those meter spots so customers can park there without having to worry about feeding the meter. Esp for those that are doing business with you. I had to run out multiple times to feed the meter, AND i was buying a car from honda so it was more unnecessary money out of my pocket, just to avoid a ticket. Such a hassle. Waiting sucks. We got there at 1pm, and basically sat around waiting for about 3 hrs doing nothing, just waiting to talk to the financial department. After a while, you become impatient. and hungry. Phylisha wasn't able to assist us, so Donald helped us instead. Andrew later helped us finish our paperwork before we met with Laselles in finance. Each of them were super nice. Andrew was absolutely helpful, honest, and just all around friendly. We were skeptical about not seeing the car until we were to pick it up, (because of what happened at Boch Honda) but Andrew reassured us that the car would be in top condition and if it wasn't then we would get a full refund. Herb Chambers Honda Boston is by far the worst company I've ever done business with. I bought a new car from them in 2016. In 2018 the a/c stopped working and they tried to charge me to fix it. Later that year Honda had a recall on the a/c condenser and they were forced to fix it for free - but then they claimed the air compressor is now broken and needs replacing and that I would need to pay. I refused and my a/c still works fine. The a/c should not break on a 2 year old car and you shouldn't be charging the customer to fix it when clearly you sold a defective part. I get email, regular mail, phone calls and texts regularly trying to buy the car back from me. I've asked them to delete my personal information several times and they don't respond. Today it was "Jay" texting me to try to buy my car again. I text back asking to delete my personal information and he stops responding. They pretend to care and ask if you "need anything" and you tell them what you need and they don't respond. This company won't stop at any length to screw you. I was in the market to lease a new car, so I recently visited the Herb Chambers Honda location in Boston. I specifically went to this location based on the fact that there is supposed to be VIP concierge services/special pricing offered through my employer. I made an appointment, and was greeted by their internet sales manager, who then assigned me to a brand-new salesman. He was very nice, but to no fault of his own inexperienced. When we sat down to discuss pricing, sales manager Jose joined the conversation. His first offer was an outrageous price quote that ended up being a significantly higher down payment and $150 more per month than what the car was worth. After FOUR hours, we finally had negotiated a deal, only to find out we were not discussing the same car. He took it upon himself to make the deal on the only car they had in their inventory, which was gray, rather than the blue that I told him I wanted from the very beginning. Bait and switch much? After another hour of waiting, he finally agreed to locate the blue one I wanted at another dealership. At this point, after so much frustration and aggravation, I was feeling wary and uneasy and wanted to take a day to think about it. He left me his card and told me to call him once I made my decision. After thinking about it I returned 2 hours later to move forward with the deal we had previously agreed upon. I was very rudely told that the offer was no longer valid on the blue car, and if I wanted that price, I HAD to take the gray one. The same color that was secretly pushed on me in our earlier conversations. Not once before I left earlier, was I told that any portion of the deal expired at my leaving. I left under the impression, as told and promised by Jose that I could think about it for a day and would be able to have the same deal on the car in the color I wanted. When I told them I was not interested in the gray car. I was then pressured with the notion this was a today only deal and it was this car or nothing. I said no thank you and walked out. Being that I was supposed to receive VIP treatment at this dealership, I can only imagine what kind of service they offer to an un-referred customer. This experience was a total waste of my time and I will never again step foot in an Herb Chambers dealership, nor would i recommend them to anyone else. After complaining to the VIP service, I received a call from their GM, Joel apologizing for what had happened. He mentioned that he was there that evening and was aware of what was happening but did not intervene at the time. He recognized that it was wrong and should never have happened. He offered to honor the deal, however, I would be crazy to do business with them after being treated this way. Prior to visiting Herb Chambers Honda in Boston, I had been a 13 year customer of Herb Chambers since buying my first car at Herb Chambers in Seekonk (MA) in 2005. I recently moved about two hours north of Boston, but my loyalty to Herb Chambers was such that when I found the car I wanted on their website at the Boston location, I decided I would come down to Boston. Before driving down, I called to make sure the car was still available. They assured me that it was. "So I can drive down and buy it this afternoon?" I asked. "Just to let you know, I am two hours away," I added. "Yes! Come on down!" they replied. So I drive TWO HOURS down to Herb Chambers in Boston, only to be informed that while, yes, I could "buy" the car that day, I would not be able to actually DRIVE it away that day because it is "stored in Charlestown and we can't get it today." I was floored - didn't they think it would be nice to mention this "pertinent fact" to someone who is driving two hours each way to buy a car? (I literally was going to write them a check for the new car on the spot if they had had it for me). I had made it very clear that I was driving all that way to buy a car that day. It is a four hour time commitment for me to get down there and back; there was no way I was making the trip twice, especially for people so inconsiderate as to not warn me. I don't think I've ever been so angry at a business. This was probably the most inconsiderate and self-centered thing I've ever seen, as a consumer. They were literally willing to say anything to get me through the door, with absolutely no regard for my time. Nice job guys. You managed to destroy a 13 year business relationship. Purchased a new 2013 Civic Si from Herb Chambers in Boston a few weeks ago. I picked up the car at night and the next morning, I discovered what appeared to be damage where two pieces of the dash meet. 2 days later I stopped in, unannounced, and presented the problem to a girl at the service desk. Her response? "Oh I don't deal with new cars, this is the service area." Um, okay...she brings someone else out to look at it, he determines that a part needs to be ordered. Ok, order it, I'll be back in a week. Fast toward to today, show up at my scheduled time, am told to expect longer than the original 1.5 hour wait, it's backed up. Whatever, I'll read my book. 2 hours goes by and the service rep comes over and tells me that they originally ordered a part for a different model civic but managed to find the correct piece. And it will now take another 2 hours to replace it!! Or not, I'm leaving. Tells me to keep the part in the trunk and they'll replace it when I make an appointment. I take myself, and the part over to Honda Cars of Boston to see if they can help. Service manager comes out, looks at it and determines nothing is wrong, it's just left over protective tape that Herb Chambers never removed!! Here I was thinking that they had damaged it, but problem solved, I'm happy. I get home and look at the part they ordered...it's the wrong part! Not only is it the wrong part, they've managed to damage it too. An installation tab on the back is broken off and a piece is chipped on the front. I just want to share a bad experience at your dealership. I took an Uber from Tewksbury to this branch to see a Honda CRV that they have listed on their website, just to discover that it was nothing like advertised. The sales rep Felix advised me that your sales team used stock photos that were misleading as the car was nothing like the pictures: Cigarette burns on the seats, cigarette smokes, dents on the bumper etc.. So I decided to seek an alternative and decided on Toyota RAV4, I made the $3,000 deposit via Amex Card and I left to meet a client of mine in Lowell MA. I explained to Felix that I need to pick up the car the following day and left him my plates and insurance contacts details along with a credit application. The following day I called Felix twice and texted him to make sure that everything was a go and that I will be at the dealership at 1 PM. I arrived at 1:10 PM and was told that I should wait for 30 Mins, then wait for another 1 Hr because the "cue" was long. 2.45 Hours later, I sit in front of your business manager that told me he won't be able to register my car so I can drive away with it. When I told him that the RMV was still opened for another 2 hours at least, he got another manager to tell me the same thing and with a straight face, this kid "manager" tells me that waiting for 3 Hrs to sit down with a business manager was not bad at all! This is not the experience I was expecting from your dealership, I was disappointed in the minute I walked into this dealership. Misleading advertisement, untrained salespeople and business managers that rather see business walk out the door than do the right thing. I walked into Village Honda yesterday afternoon and got my car this morning, that is how business needs to be. I wrote this email to give you genuine feedback in order to address these deficiencies. Customer service goes beyond offering free coffee, water or ice cream, it is about people doing what is right and not laying to their customers to make a sale. I am still waiting for my $3,000 deposit refund, I was told it was all set yesterday but I am still waiting. I will never recommend this dealership to anyone, very poor follow up and mis-leading sales tactics. Simply a nightmare. read more

We took our car to Herb Chambers in Dorchester for service. Our Customer Service representative was Sean DaSilva. It was one of our best experiences we ever had at the dealership. He was polite, explained exactly what service we needed and how long it would take. He was right on point! I hope to deal with him every time we go there. I sold my Honda Accord Hybrid 2015 back to Herb Chambers because that is where I bought it. They did a real bate and switch: on phone Jose said we would get between 13 and 16K, then when we drove out there they had all sorts of reasons why their first offer was 9.5K, with a lot of bullshit about why they couldn't possibly sell it for more than 13K. We worked them up to 11.8K, and after signing off they were done... I had to ASK for some sort of receipt! And they never gave me or told me I needed to take the license plates (I assumed the dealership does that). AND still no check in the mail 9 days later. The car is for sale at 16K, by the way. I'm sure other Honda dealers are more professional and helpful... do not deal with this dealership if you can help it. read more

I have been a repair service customer for over 15 years and have purchased 1 car from HC. I will never take my car back to the HC service department. Over the years, I have owned 5 Honda Accords. Each time I went car shopping HC (despite being a regular customer of the service dept) was higher than everyone else. HC always offered to match - I don't like to play games. I bought a used car from the same HC on a President's day sale. Another bad experience. When I decided which car to buy - I attempted to negotiate the price. I was told in no uncertain terms that there is no negotiation for used cars. As the salesperson was preparing the paperwork - I checked the HC website. To my astonishment, the price of this particular car (based on vin #) was reduced $500 during the time we had met with the salesperson. The salesperson was unaware of the price change and the purchase document had the original price. I had to show him the web page and then he had to bring out the manager before the price was corrected. My biggest gripe is with the service department. I take very good care of my car. I always get my car serviced at the suggested intervals. 1. A number of times (more than 5) after a visit to HC Service - as I drove off - I noticed that the tire pressure light was on. Each time, I had to turn around, and wait for up to an hour before they could check it out. 100% of the time, it was an oversight by the service department. It's either careless or sloppy - you decide. I have to say to myself - if they can't do something this simple, what else did they forget. In fact, the service manager, Susan told me that clearing the tight pressure light can be complicated and that she researched on the website and created a "how to" for the mechanics. It makes me wonder - how experienced are the staff mechanics if the service manager has to tell them how to turn off a warning light. 2. The last time I had my annual service, the service person told me that my brakes showed significant wear and that I would need to replace my brakes sometime in the next 6 to 12 months. Recently (a year later), I had my car serviced by a highly reputable and highly recommended independent. When I asked about my breaks, he told me that they are in excellent condition and show little wear. 3. The new Morrissy Blvd facility is very inconvenient and it takes hours for them to do even the smallest task - i.e. annual inspection or oil change. 4. My independent mechanic is far more knowledgeable than HC staff. He uses only Honda parts, is fully trained, and costs significantly less than HC Honda. read more

Some of the worst customer service I have ever received. I recently bought a new vehicle from Herb Chambers Honda Boston, and the entire process was an unorganized mess. We were told we would definitely get the best interest rate that we're offering "as long as your score isn't 600." That was a flat out lie, and our sales rep knew it. They reported my credit score being significantly lower than it actually was, and received no explanation as to why. But the real kicker was our sales rep literally forgetting to order extra parts with the car. I picked it up as soon as I could, even if some of the additions weren't ready. Our sales rep said they do not have a timeline for when the parts will be in, and that the order was "pending." A few weeks pass, and our sales rep still had no update. I call Honda's corporate customer service number to discuss the issue, they said the parts department will definitely have an ETA if the order had been placed. I called the parts department, and they said they had no parts order under my name. I told my sales rep, and he scrambles to take care of the issue. The parts arrive within 3 days, because he forgot to put the order in. I really don't like to second guess how people go about their job, but saying the order was "pending" from the beginning made no sense. It's 2024, we have the ability to track shipments. And clearly the keys were able to be there from day one, but they weren't because of this dealerships incompetence. I then made an appointment to get the parts installed. I show up at the time of my appointment, and was told they have no available technicians. What's the point of the appointment then? They said to bring it back the next day, as early as possible so someone could get to it, as if they hadn't already wasted enough of my time. And bringing it early wasn't even an appointment, they seemed unwillingly to schedule one. Their whole attitude in there is terrible, they questioned if I had an appointment before a word came out of my mouth. I will definitely not be going here for services that aren't covered under warranty. Really wished I looked into parkway Honda, but didn't really think the service could be this bad. read more

Bought a 2013 Audi Q5 in late 2017 with 45,000 miles on it. The salesman pitched me the extended 5-year warranty at the time i was signing the paperwork for around $3500 and being a first-time car buyer with no mechanical skills i went for it. Realized this week it was in fact a 5-year warranty that covers the car only till 60,000 miles. Which given that the average American drives 13,500 miles per year, essentially means it was little more than a 1-year warranty. And so my recent breakdown was not covered, which pissed me off. So i called the dealership today to complain about this sleazy salesman ship and their finance's guy's response was "sorry it is here in the contract in black and white". To which i responded.. "yes and its my fault i missed that. But if i was buying from some sleazy no-name dealership, i probably would have checked all details.. but i wasnt. I was buying from Herb Chambers. And let's be honest.. if I were a sales man selling a 5-year warranty to a customer, would it not be fairly sleazy to not note that it would likely only last a year given the 60,000 mile cap? Yes, it would be a step away from fraud in my view. And maybe this is the shit that used car dealerships did back 5-10 years ago.. but we now live in the day of the internet baby... and i will make you guys pay for this shitty experience." read more

I showed up at 10:05 for my 10:15 appointment for a simple annual inspection. It was 10:22 before I was finally acknowledged and told that it would be a two hour wait for my car. The reason that Sean Dasilva (?) provided was that it was the end of the month and everyone was getting their annual inspection. I countered with, "that's why I made an appointment." He replied, "I'm just being straightforward with you." It's my turn to be straightforward. Avoid this place like the plague. Two staff members are currently sitting across from me, scrolling on Tik Tok or some social media, while those inside are aimlessly milling about. If you can go somewhere, ANYWHERE else, do so. read more
