Called Subaru @ 1-800-782-2789 and they confirmed my vehicle is still under warranty. Another problem is the service writer told me I could not leave my vehicle at the service center of the dealership that is checked in for repair, I typically leave a vehicle where the service is being done because it needs servicing. read more

Air conditioner went out on 2017 Forrester (17,775 miles) while en route to Maryland and I stopped by here on an early Friday afternoon for help. Service department had 40% more business that day than usual busy schedule. Service tech RT (great guy) and manager CE were exceptional! They worked us into schedule. AC part was defective (they've seen quite a few) and under warranty. Done in a couple of hours. AC feels great in 87 degree heat! Nice people! I'd come back here again!! Oh ... almost went to another dealership closer to our hotel. Didn't because of Yelp review. Later found out that while they say they are Subaru, they're not licensed Subaru. I live in Virginia and had been eyeing used Subaru's for my next car for a couple of months with my Dad's help. We got in contact with Debbie Colt from Herb Gordon and told her we were interested in a car. Debbie came in the next day (on her day off even lol) to meet with my Dad and I. She was nothing but knowledgable, polite, and attentive. Car buying is my worse nightmare and not a fun process as we all know but I felt at ease with Debbie guiding us through it. And most notably, just after our last service, we noted a nail through the tire. Lack of customer services!! The only gentleman I appreciated his manner was the one his table was right next to the side door. Our contact person (I used contact person because in term of sale person because he didnt qualify). We drove about 30 miles away, stoped by because we really interested to see the car (willing to buy). In the beginning, our contact person seemed to be very helpful. However, only not even 10 mins later after a quick conversation, his attitude changed. It didnt matter we were looking at used or brand new cars, but the way this guy treated us was ridiculous. Therefore, after a brief conversation with him. Not even one question, we got a proper answer. I told my husband let's shop somewhere else coz wasting time!!! I bought a new 2010 Suburu here in 2009 and have had all my service work done under warranty. I'm out of warranty now and will go anyplace else BUT this service center. The people are nasty, they don't honor their coupons (or try to get out from honoring them), and don't do service work well at all. On top of it, I just called to get recall notice work done - called four times before I got connected to service, then they disconnected me twice. I never did get a live person. Have to wait a MONTH (using their on-line scheduling) to get this recall defect fixed. I hope my car doesn't burn up in the meantime! I love Suburu cars generally, but I won't buy another one based on my experience here and would NEVER use Herb Gordon again for anything other than the recall repair, which they have to do for free. read more

I bought my 2011 Subaru at Fitzmall in Bethesda and got a good deal on it, so I figured I would also have all the work done to it by them, that was a MISTAKE!! Although their front staff are very pleasant as is the Service Manager, the quality of work (excluding servicing) was just horrible. Every time I took the care in to have work done to it, I would get it back with another part of the car damaged, I brought this to their attention and it STILL happened. The last straw was when they ordered in touch up paint for my car (the mechanic had scratched the inside when doing some work to it) and they gave me pain for a Blue car when mine is Graphite Grey!!!! I called Subaru up directly and complained, so they made arrangements for Herb Gordon to contact me to have my car taken in there. The service manager and parts director Mike was great. he arranged a loaner Outback for me whilst mine was being worked on before I even got to their shop, it was gassed up and waiting for me when I got to their service center. I was also dealing with Ken who was very polite and ensured all the work done to my care was done correctly. I have constant communications with Ken with updates on the progress of my car and of what was actually being done to my car. It turns out that a Service Bulletin that Subaru put out and that I had Fitzmall do, was NOT DONE AT ALL when they stated they had done it.... Needless to say I had Herb Gordon do that work for me as well as check on the all the work that had already been done to ensure it was done correctly. When I got my 2011 Outback from them, they had cleaned my front seats and all the work had been done without any other issues, they even walked around the car with me to ensure I was happy with the work they had done. I will now being having them do all the work to my Subaru as I got the service and quality of work I had expected from the start. Horrible Horrible Dealership. I had the displeasure of getting Charles Bulow as my salesman. He spent the entire time bragging about how he's worked here for 12 years and that this dealership has a policy of being straight with the customer. Was not willing to let me test drive a manual because I said I don't usually drive it. Spent about an hour talking about how they don't negotiate on price and saying that his price was the best even though it was at least 2 grand overpriced (I know because I got a way better deal somewhere else). At the end after wasting my time, he didn't even wanna give me his price statements just to compare with other dealers because he "Didn't wanna do other people's jobs for them." Absolute piece of trash employee, should be fired immediately. I don't know if he represents Herb Gordon as a whole, but they sure lost a customer because I actually bought the car from somewhere else all because of Charles Bulow. While everyone here has a good attitude and seem to give good customer service on the surface, YOU MUST CHECK THEIR WORK! I'll be brief with my past three experiences in order from most recent to oldest (over the past 6 months). 1. November '15: Went in for an oil change and tire rotation. I marked my tires. They did not rotate them and LIED TO MY FACE even when repeatedly asked. 2. July '15: Went in for an oil change. It took 2.5 hours even though I had an appointment. Come to find out after driving home with my 3K milage car that the belt squeaks, that the reason the service took so long is that the "master tech" who worked on my car forgot to put the filter on after changing the oil...it spewed everywhere, and instead of telling me what happened they tried to drive the car around Automobile Circle trying to burn the oil off so I wouldn't notice. They didn't even have spare belts so I had to take one from a loaner vehicle with more mileage than my car. 3. April '15: Purchased Car. My deposit to order the car was not credited at the closing desk, even though I had asked. I had to call them the next day after running all the numbers on my own to get my money back. Again, everyone here is very nice, but don't trust them with a hand shake -- yes, it's unfortunate. For your own peace of mind and quite frankly your safety, PLEASE CHECK THEIR WORK. Don't just accept the checklist they give you...it means nothing. I did receive a thorough apology form the GM, but apologies don't bring back business and trust...three strikes guys. I purchased my Crosstrek in January 2017 and keep it maintained with visits to Herb Gordon. With each regular visit I become more impressed with the dealership. This time I went in a couple hundred miles ahead of my 30k checkup -- without an appointment -- and received a friendly welcome from Claudia. Their waiting area is clean and comfortable (the Dunkin Donuts make it even sweeter!). They found that a recall had just been issued and took care of that repair as well. My car comes out clean and well loved. And I guess that's "what makes a Subaru a Subaru!" I will definitely be back when my lease is done, and I'm looking at the Forester! At first I really enjoyed this dealership. Vitaliy Khlebnikob provided excellent service representation to my car (once he understood that I know a lot about cars) and only recommended truly needed service instead of trying to get as much money out of me as possible. However, the past two appointments I had with the Service Department left me very unsatisfied. At the first, the Service Rep recommended urgent serivce at a cost of $1500 and that I absoultely needed to have this work done immediately. Mind you, I had a 97 subaru imprezza, worth about $600 at the time. Why? would I spend more than twice the cost of my car instead of just purchasing a new car. I declined the service and successfully drove my car for another 6 months. The second time, as a conveinence I requested they place a bolt in my rear suspension system that had sheared. The cost for one bolt? $60. I spent $5 instead and took 5 minutes at home to do it myself. I only asked since they were doing my oil change and it would have been very simple for them to do this. I recently bought a new car, not from this dealership because I recieved no help from the sales department there, and needed a subaru specific part. The dealership I bought my car from informed me that they would pay the cost and had sorted everything out with Herb Gordon. Well not only was it not sorted, but Herb Gordon blamed me, and then hung up on me when I said this was unacceptable service and treatment of a former patron. I do not recommend you go here, especially if you don't know anything about cars, because you will be robbed. Also, people who own and work on Subarus are a special type of person. You will know what I mean if you are that person. This dealership includes none of those people. read more

Took my wife's Subbie to this place to get an oil change and a 100K inspection. I waited in the lobby because they didn't offer me a shuttle (I'm not sure if they have that service or not). A couple hours later I get the results from my 27 point inspection. Two pages of problems with estimates on labor time and cost totaling $4585. I just drove this car across the country without an issue. Now you're telling me it's falling to effin' pieces?? Now check this out. I took my car to White Flint Auto Repair for a second opinion. They told me it was a good thing I wanted that second opinion. The things that were listed as "wrong" were always going to be wrong, even by the time of my next oil change after dropping $4585 on it. There is no impending doom on the car; it is not falling to pieces. No the Trans fluid isn't dirty enough to warrant a $246 flush. No the rear bushings aren't torn and I don't need to spend $680 to fix it. The list goes on. Grand total spent on the second opinion: $31.58 (they rotated the front tires). Hmmm. $4585 or $31.58. Don't need to be good at math to see the $4550 difference! With the money we saved we're buying material for picket signs and hiring a team of rebels to march in front of this establishment. Wonderful! Painless! Friendly! --- All the things that I totally did not expect once I bit the bullet and decided to buy a 2012 Outback. Let me just say, before going into the dealership, I was ready to spend the day going back and forth negotiating prices, haggling, and developing an ulcer... seriously, I had planned on calling in sick to work the next day because I was sure I that I would be exhausted and worn ragged by the time I had finally made a deal. To my surprise and relief, the process of buying a new car was incredibly easy and hassle free. Walking into the dealership I knew which model I wanted to buy and what price range I wanted to stay within. Lakshman, who was tremendous through the entire process, laid out all of my options and explained to me in full detail the differences between the different Outback models. There was no haggling, no negotiating and none of the ol' "let me run the numbers by my boss". Nope, he was straightforward, informative and very attentive to my needs and concerns. I also want to mention that the financing process was also a breeze. In my mind I was certain that I would fall in between a certain range when it came to the interest rate, by Bryan was able to get me hooked up with something lower than I would have ever imagined. Very, very cool. Again, when it came to the actual financing and additional options, there was no pressure to purchase anything excessive and no feeling that they were there to make a mega profit off of my purchase. As silly as it sounds, the whole experience was very surreal to me and as excited as I was to finally be getting an Outback, I could hardly express my happiness as I was in mild shock that I was buying a car without having to pop a Xanax or stop by the liquor store on the way home -- of course I'm exaggerating here, but you get the picture. Just got my new car yesterday. 1st of all, I was supposed to go to another dealership that shall remain nameless because i am not certain of their intentions. I called Herb Gordon Subaru when I saw that they had a blue yaris. I was gonna go with a chevy from another dealership, but just before it was time for me to go there, I gave Herb Gordon a call. I was connected to GEORGE. George was very kind on the phone and didn't seem too aggressive which I liked. I informed George that I was already qualified for a vehicle at that other dealership. George did a credit check and informed me that there were NO bank inquiries on my record, so therefore, the other dealership didn't approve me for ANYTHING!!!! At this point I was just going to buy a pair of rollerskates, but George reassured me that they weren't liars at this dealership and they have a practice of no-haggle pricing. ITS TRUE!!! George called me back with a REAL approval and offered the same price for the vehicle that was online. When I arrived everyone was SO nice and helpful. George was seriously such a sweetheart. He is very good at his job. I was very comfortable and got the vehicle that I have been dreaming about for almost 2 years. They also have excellent insurance options and on top of that, the Subaru dealership has a hookup with some insurance company that will be cheaper than my initial purchase. Subaru really takes care of their customers. Also the financing officer was EXCELLENT. He didn't rush, he explained everything carefully, and he handled the heat from my Jamaican father. These folks are absolutely amazing. I've never been to any mechanic or dealership, nor even any place that serves customers that treats their customers so well. We went here back in the winter for a 30k mile tuneup, and they saved us money. Then, after we went to a different dealership because it was close to one of our offices (Farrish, in Fairfax, VA) to fix a problem and get an oil change, the other dealership lied to us about what we needed and refused to change our oil. When we took the car back in to Herb Gordon because the job seemed to have been botched at Farrish, the amazing folks at Herb Gordon fixed our glitch for free and apologized for our trouble that they didn't cause, and that we wouldn't have had if we had been to Herb Gordon in the first place. I never want to deal with anyone but these amazing people again when dealing with car stuff. Thank you so much. To illustrate the difference between these two dealerships, let me point to their receipts. Farrish has a fairly standard itemized receipt, and a cashier comes to find you when their work is done. At Herb Gordon, they explained the work they did beforehand and then afterwards. Then when you get the itemized receipt, on the receipt they have the names and pictures of the people who worked on your vehicle printed, in case something were to come up afterwards so you'd know who did the work. I can't say enough about how amazing they are. Also, after many experiences at restaurants, stores, and other businesses I said I'd yelp about for years, this is the first time I'm taking the trouble to yelp. Thanks again guys! He's was very informative and tried his best to address my situation with my car. They didn't even trip on all the aftermarket add-ons that are on the vehicle. Unfortunately they weren't able to find the problem with my car and that's the only reason why I'm deducting one star. Other than that the service advisor, automotive technician are top notch!!! I was invited to the back of the garage, from the service floor to the roof everything in there was well maintained and organized. Although my review is later than what I intended on, I didn't forget - I finally have some real time to share my experience. On 6/8/19, I brought forester in for service. Vitaliy was my service consultant for this visit. I was very happy to work with him again. My visit was initially for my broken driver's seat (once side would not raise up and down), and for the oil change. Turned out my car needed several additional maintenance services that I did not anticipate. As usual Vitaliy kept me informed with what the technician had found that needed to be remedied. All other repairs were adding up (this included tires too), but I was ready and able to handle it, plus I knew it had been awhile since any of the items had been done. But the driver's seat car repair was out of my budget. Vitaliy is very knowledgeable, he did what he normally does, which is to work with his customers. With the exception of the seat issue, he discussed looking into the other maintenance cost for any available discounts. So, I left my car at the shop and was given a 2019 Outback loaner car - sweeeet!! Over that weekend I pondered over the seat cost. Long story short, I decided to call Subaru of America. I spoke with a representative and explained my seat situation, provided the details as she asked. I have to say they responded quick and efficiently. To my surprise they contacted the Herb Gordon Service center (and me), and Vitaliy was informed by Subaru of America that they would be assisting me with the cost of my seat repair. I picked up my car a week later - I enjoyed the loaner Outback. My car was ready on a Thursday, but I wasn't able to make it there due to work and other scheduled obligations. No problem, Friday was fine. I really appreciate that there was no fuss about the extra day I needed. Overall, I have been taking my car to the Herb Gordon Service Center, since I purchased it in 2011. So far, and I do hope this continues, I have received great service from the team. I also give many thanks to Subaru of America for handling my driver seat issue. They showed that they do value their customers. I'm definitely a satisfied Subaru car owner and customer. I was at looking at Subaru at Dulles Subaru through True Car web site listing. Although their sales person Mike Kucher was courteous, their negotiation tactics is old school, not up front and very deceiving and take also high marks to make a honest customer looks bad. So I walked after they tagged on unwanted and unneeded inspection fee to the amount to $2500 after presenting the final cost and makes me wonder how many more $$ and skin they wanted from this skinny cat. In addition, I have repeatedly told them I will pay the full cost up front and instead they made us wait and wait and wait for them to present the financing details. I just throw my key in the air and walked out and never look back. My fiancee had went to a BMW dealer that morning and looked at an X1. We almost went with it cause I like the ride but finally decided against it because of the ground clearance of the car. We had a solid quote with fees and price included and its only a few hundred more than that Subaru (which isn't the top of the line trim) and we were treated with honesty and no games. That was Herb Gordon BMW. So I started looking at Herb Gordon's Subaru and Jeep site. A few weeks after, from them we spotted a Subaru with all the bells and whistles and a better trim of the same car model. I made an appointment, test drove it and with the same efficiency as they BMW branch they gave me the exact price and fees and they are willing to meet me half way the price that I am willing to pay an skipped the unnecessary fees and have the remaining warranty of the car. I put down the down payment and in two days picked up a car with a personal check and financing wasn't even came up once. Whole process was fast, smooth and painless and the sales person was professional, nice and accommodating. So in a little less than 2.5 hours spent in two days, the transaction was done from test drive to out the door and I am enjoying the top of the line trim of that car model. That's priceless! In the first part of this year I went looking to buy a new car. I visited three Subaru dealers (for Outbacks and Foresters) and one Kia dealer (for Sedonas). This dealer is one of these four. Since I have no ulterior motive and don't want to give the appearance of having one, I am not name the other dealers in this review. I ended up buying an Outback from Herb Gordon (Mile One) Subaru. I was pleased with my salesperson here. And while I was able to get an offer a few hundred dollars less for an Outback elsewhere, Herb Gordon offered $500 more for my trade-in. The sales price I obtained here was using TrueCar. I would only give 4 stars for my subsequent interactions with the Service Department, but I consider that a pretty high score for a dealer service department. read more

My wife just drove home her new Forester, while Herb Gordon couldn't keep it from getting rained on, they did make the purchase process as painless as possible. This is our second Herb Gordon Subaru, lost the first one (two years old) in the Ellicott City flood. I had the flooded car towed to Herb Gordon before I know the car would be totaled. The service department took the trouble to start drying out the car, even knowing it would probably be totaled. Their concern for our well being and their assistance in getting everything out of the car was outstanding. I called Charles this afternoon and told him what we wanted, he emailed back a price, which beat other offers I'd seen. Decided to drive on down and look at the car. It was just what my wife wanted. We haven't completed the insurance claim yet (paperwork in process but won't finalize for a few days). Charles said no problem. Did all the paperwork while they prepped the car, then turned us over to the Finance Manager Diago (sorry if the name isn't spelled correctly), to complete the sale. I came in from out of town & experienced a problem with my radio on my 2018 Outback- it wouldn't turn off when I turned the car off. I was concerned about my battery dying, but it was almost 5:00 pm on a Friday & I had come for a family dinner at 6:00 pm and didn't know what to do. I called & asked for service to explain my predicament. I was transferred to a wonderful tech named Kenneth who walked me through a DYI option (disconnecting the positive cable - like a "reboot") to get the radio to go off. I went in for a service tuneup for my subaru impreza STI at 10:30am on a friday. I met with Vitaliy. He helped guide me through the process for an oil change, tire rotation, and power steering flush in a smooth, seamless experience. In under 2 hours from dropping off my car, Vitaliy gave me a call back. Customer service was great. My salesman (Charles) provided his cell phone number in addition to his regular line in case I had any questions. I didn't have to wait around for anything, and they offered me something to drink while I was there. The process was quick and easy and they were very knowledgeable, including Matt they're finance guy. They're upgrading to a bigger facility soon, so keep an eye out for that. Also after my purchase, they took care of the title/registration paperwork and said they'd mail me my new tags etc. once they received them in the mail so I don't have to come back up there to get them. I live in Arlington, VA but I've had a good experience up at Herb Gordon that'd I'd consider going up there for my servicing too. They really made me feel welcome. read more
