I have always loved this place. My husband is a big foodie and loved it, brought a very dear friend from Mexico City, she loved it. Food, drinks and staff have always been solid and consistently great but my evening tonight topped it all. After my friend left, I ordered food to go and a drink, went to the bathroom. The bartender was so fast.. but noticed I was alone so she kinda hid my drink until I got back. Then a little later I got sad because of a recent loss of a loved one. I had an absolute blows of a time trying Hercules yesterday! This is a nice restaurant which would be perfect for a meal out with friends. There's yummy food and drinks and the service is also great! For food we tried: * queso fundido - this was delicious and came with chips, we ended up adding chorizo to this and it was a great decision! * enchiladas - I got these with chicken with half green sauce and red sauce. This also came with rice and beans and was yummy. Overall my only qualm is that I wish the chicken was more juicy as it was quite dry * churros - we got these for dessert and these were delicious. We absolutely enjoyed these thoroughly as they were filled with a custard like sauce and also came with a chocolate dipping sauce. The churro came piping hot so we really loved it! We decided we wanted Mexican food, so I was poking around yelp when I came across this restaurant. The menu looked great, and then I went to their website and saw that this was named after a pet chihuahua, who honesty looks grumpy in the logo, so I was sold. I'm down for a place that named their restaurant after a dog. I appreciated that the chip basket wasn't huge - therefore we didn't over eat before our meal came. I ordered iced tea, and unfortunately, it was from the fountain, not fresh brewed, so I asked for a soda instead. This is one of the reasons I docked them 1 star. Salsa was decent, but the chips were a mix of stale and not stale. I am not sure how that happened, but I think they could improve their chips greatly - especially if they are mixing older ones with newer ones. I prefer light crispy thin chips and these were thicker. Food was really good - I had a fish taco and a shrimp taco with rice. My partner had shrimp fajitas. The fajita portion was incredibly generous and my tacos were great. If I came back, I would hold the sauce, because I don't like creamy sauce slathered on my tacos. The rice was the highlight of the meal - it was perfection. The interior of this place is fresh, modern and clean - not something you get very often in a sit-down Mexican restaurant, so I was a huge fan. Came here for dinner on Sunday. We sat outside since the weather was nice. Service was friendly, just a tad slow, which wasn't a big deal as we're not in a hurry. It's good that they had trimmed down their menu significantly to 2 pages, under new management. We're always overwhelmed by their menu "book" before. They had a pretty good selection of local draught craft beer. I tried a sip of my husband's Orange You Delicious, which had a nice citrus aroma. I usually didn't care for beer, but this one was pretty easy to drink without the usual strong beer taste, despite its higher alcohol percentage. It was indeed delicious as its name suggested. The complimentary chips and salsa were tasty, and the salsa had quite a bit of a kick. All 3 of us had Tacos De La Casa with different choices for the 2 tacos. I had shrimp and fish tacos. The dish was presented beautifully on a flat square plate. The ingredients were fresh and very flavorful. Just a bit messy to eat. I liked that both the fish and the shrimps were grilled instead of deep-fried. I also had a small piece of my daughter's quesabirria taco with the birria consommé. It was crispy and delish. This is one of my fav places for date nights and girls night out. The drinks are always so good and the food always hits. I noticed the menu changed up a bit recently due to the new management but it seems to be for the best. But I am happy to see the same staff! My favorite dishes are the tacos, asada plate, chile relleno, chips and guacamole and the shrimp dishes. I recently tried a new dish which was garlic butter shrimp and it was amazing, I can't wait to order it again. The food here is actually really good Mexican food, although for some reason, Hercules made me think we would be eating Mediterranean. My chip table buddy and I easily put away the entire container of chips by ourselves. They were thick cut chips. And the staff was nice enough to offer me a big container to take the rest of the salsa home. It's completely fair to judge a Mexican restaurant on the chips and salsa alone since I would come back somewhere just for that. They exceeded expectations on that end here. I was reluctant to try this place because of word on the street but was pleasantly surprised by the service and the ambiance. Nice, clean and spacious. Food was good. Really enjoyed the Mexican chopped salad. The sweet corn tamales were also delicious. The margaritas are really weak. Not impressed with falls or it alcohol content. 9/8/24 Zach and I stopped by Hercules for dinner since they have outdoor seating and pretty good reviews. Zach dropped me off to get a table since the parking wasn't easy to locate at the time. I went in to ask if we could get a seat outside since we had Coco, but no one was at the front. There was a couple that was waiting there also and told me that they had been waiting for 10 minutes to be seated. I asked the bar tender if he could get us seated, but he said that the host would be with us in about 1 minute. The host was finally available after a few minutes, to which he seated the previous couple and then Zach and I outside. He even apologize for making us wait; all he said was "just sit whereever". No menus/water/utensils/plates were provided so I went inside to grab menus and tell the host we would like water and two place settings. Here's what we got: - chips and salsa (to share) - chicken enchiladas (his) - quesabirria tacos (mine) The three stars is mainly for the food because everything tasted great. The chips were solid and not flimsy and the salsa tasted fresh. Zach said he enjoyed his enchiladas, but it could have used more spice. I thought my tacos were gonna be soft shell, but I liked the texture of the hard shell taco and that it kept the taco filling neatly tucked inside. The outside has an amazing ambiance and fresh air, we appreciate that they are dog friendly here. I ordered the verde tamal and omg I am still thinking about it. I wasn't very hungry that day so I just wanted something small and man, I cannot wait to go back and share this with everyone. I loved the sauce and the masa was very light. Thinking about it now is making my stomach growl. Classy and comforting is how I would best describe the food and ambiance. I hate giving bad reviews but, our experience was truly unworthy of any stars. We walked in, no greeting. We walked over to 2 open seats at the bar, which still had the dishes from previous customer. It took the bartender a good 5 mins to acknowledge us and let us know he'd come bk to clear and wipe off the bar. We waited a total of 20 minutes to have the bar wiped down and cleared and then an extra 10 to get our drink order taken. It was a Thursday so they had specials. We ordered food. Ceviche was small and dry, not worth it. We had the $1 oysters, they were fresh. Beer was like $5 something inexpensive. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting, I will spare you the details. We were there for a good 2 hours enjoying our drinks and oysters. I visited the bathroom a second time about 1 hr in between, it was still unusable. I came out of the bathroom to notify staff of the issue and the tall, handsome manager/owner curbed me when he saw me coming. I then ran into a busboy and notified him of the issues, he was polite and thanked me for notifying them. It took about 10-15 min for the bathroom to be semi addressed and only after I commented that I'd be leaving a review. I do not recommend this place nor plan on coming back. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by this place. They have a parking lot directly behind the restaurant which made it really easy. Super cool decor - with lots of attention to detail. I made a reservation, but they weren't super busy so probably ok for walk-in's. Service was fine; the waiter was almost too attentive and didn't let us chill. They had a good beer list with variety and some speciality cocktails. Loved my spicy margarita that had some zing (but not hot) and watermelon juice. Excellent vegan choices - but NO RICE. Nope, they use chicken stock. Guys, just stop this. You don't need chicken stock to make excellent tasting rice! Guacamole was super good. They have since changed it to Hercules Cantina, and now they have a mascot which looks suspiciously like the old Taco Bell chihuahua, only this one is dressed as a luchador wrestler. Do not mention to him anything about Taco Bell or you may lose fingers or toes, he looks like he actually might be a chihuahua wrestler. Don't do it. Just enjoy the food. Everything on the menu is delicious, I like to come during the happy hours and get street tacos with the house margarita. The patio is super cute, my favorite area being the couches. This review is for vegetarians. The ambience is fantastic. The service is fantastic. The drinks are fantastic. Vegetarian options are very few. The reason for 3 star is: - The rice has chicken broth, and is not vegetarian. - The veggie fajita was totally bland. They did a lot of effort and produced a not so good fajita. Instead of zucchini etc, they can simply use bell peppers, onions and some standard fajita seasoning you can in the store, and it'll come out way way better. Not enough salt and no seasoning in vegetables which are not fully grilled but served perfectly does not make a veggie fajita. Also having sour cream and guacamole with the veggie fajita will help. - The veggie tacos are very small and bite sized. It feels expensive. I'd love to make this restaurant a regular hangout place if they just add a few basic veggie options. It doesn't won't take them that much effort to spruce up their veggie menu. They might get a whole new segment of customers if they did that. read more

Decided to try Taco Tuesday happy hour. Brought two other couples along and we had a blast. The margaritas were typical of happy hour - small and light, but flavorful. Everyone loved the tacos. We stuck to the happy hour menu and at 14 tacos between us. ;-) We did stray for dessert and got the fried ice cream with plantains. That didn't disappoint. We recently dined here this past week and thought the food was pretty good! I had the fish tacos and my hubby got the beef fajita. Both dishes were perfectly seasoned and prepared well, but what I really enjoyed was my cadillac margarita because they made it without a ton of sour mix. The bartender knows how to make a great margarita. I had two! Oh and their complimentary chips and salsa were excellent! The service was great too! The location is easy with a back area parking lot. The ambience was comfortable, pretty spacious restaurant with outdoor seating as well! The only two things that I didn't like is that Taco Tuesday deals ends at 6pm which isn't really Taco Tuesday because who eats earlier than 6pm. And the menu is sort of small in options for me and a little pricey. Other than that, I still recommend to give it a try. I will definitely go back and try some other dishes. read more

I went in for lunch one day and they unfortunately did not have what I originally wanted to order, but the Mole enchiladas are simply amazing. I'm a big mole snob and this mole did not disappoint. The shrimp cocktail was thick and hearty and they didn't skimp on the ingredients. It was loaded with yummy goodness; flavorful sauce that didn't taste watered down. Have had a couple of good experiences here so when family was in town, we suggested Hercules for dinner. We were a party of eight. $5 draft cerveza is a deal. $5 margaritas were not great. Tacos received were good but the two fajita plates were awful. Probably the worst I've had. The vegetables were steamed, not grilled. Our plates came out look warm. Service was mostly absent. Waited 15 minutes or more for our dessert order of Churros. Tip, which I'm sure was twenty percent, was "already included" as well as a BS 4% living wage fee. Also asked for another $5 marg. Never got it, but made it on the bill. Not a big deal to have this removed, but it's lame to not be charged accurately. This will remain a good place to get a deal on a drink but I won't be back for the food. Really disappointing. read more
