Dos Burros is a much needed gem in the area! I feel like a solid Mexican restaurant has been lacking in Saratoga, so I'm so happy to have tried Dos Burros, and loved it! The Pastor tacos were my favorite of the night. But really, there was nothing that we had that wasn't amazing. The salsa trio was a stand out-- all three salsas were so different from one another, and complemented the meal perfectly. The guacamole was also amazing. The absolute best part of the meal was the cocktail I ordered. It might have been the best cocktail I've ever had. I wish I remembered the name of it, but I'll be back soon to show them the picture and confirm the name, plus have them make me one again!! I know it was one of their margarita options. I honestly think Dos Burros has some of the best drinks around-- worth coming here for that alone. Our server was phenomenal. She had great recommendations and was checking in on us the perfect amount to not be annoying but also make sure we had everything we needed. The space itself is gorgeous and cozy. 4 stars, with one star taken off for a big oopsie. The ambiance cannot be beat- this restaurant is chic and beautiful. It is both intimate and fun. We went with friends who had been before and it was our first time. The service was wonderful with a couple notes. The appetizers came but the entrees were ready only 5 minutes later. We would've loved more time between the two courses. The salsa trio was delicious- each fresh and flavorful. The guacamole was delicious as well. The chips cannot be beat- fresh, thin and flavorful with grated cotija cheese and seasoning on top. For drinks my husband got the el Lizzy and I got the DB margarita. We both thought they were ok, not spectacular but good. They were really really strong, which is not our preference, but I know we're in the minority on that one. Our friend got what I think was a Cadillac margarita with a Grand Marnier float. For entrees, I got the chile verde and my husband got the steak fajitas. My entree was delicious and the rice was the best rice I've ever had at a restaurant- such good flavor. I really enjoyed the chile verde and had enough to take home some leftovers. (Regarding those leftovers, I am editing to add that I found a huge bay leaf and stem in them the next day which is a big uh oh- choking hazard/against culinary training standards etc). My husband thought the steak was ok but that it lacked seasoning. He asked for salt and thought that helped a lot. He also said adding the salsas to his fajitas helped with the flavor. The churros dessert was really fantastic- so delicious with three sauces- chocolate, caramel, and raspberry. There were 6-7 pieces and they were delicious and the perfect ending to a delicious meal. I give the food one star and the place another. The guacamole was mediocre-- not enough salt or fresh veggies. The DB margarita had a good salted rim, but otherwise lacked any real flavor. Everything took way too long to arrive. It seems like a nice place for a bland date with bland people and bland food. The chicken fajitas were actually good, but one small sliced chicken breast with four small flour tortillas just didn't speak to me. Busy for a Wednesday night pre Mountain Winery concert, but a perfect spot to catch a bite. We scored bar seats and watched many delicious looking cocktails being made. Tried the trio of salsas with fresh chips, the carnita sliders which were as good as all the reviews had said and some yummy chicken tacos that were loaded with chicken. What an incredible dining experience at Dos Burros in Saratoga! From the moment we sat at the bar, we were welcomed with exceptional service and enjoyed every minute of our evening. I've visited Dos Burros twice in the last month and this is officially my new favorite spot in the greater South Bay area. I came with my boyfriend for date night where we sat at the bar and ordered entrees, and also came with a friend and ordered several small things to share, and I honestly loved everything both times! Drinks: I'm a tequila / mezcal + tart tropical fruit person so all the house cocktails "speak to me" lol. I've tried the M&M (mango marg with mezcal), Now You See Me Now You Don't (paloma), Pinché Picante (spicy peach marg), and the No Llaves Guey (passion fruit). The No Llaves Guey is my personal favorite because I love anything passion fruit and coconut, but it's large and a pretty dense or thick drink that's maybe not for everyone. I was pleasantly surprised by the Pinché Picante--peach is not normally my go-to but it wasn't overpowering and I enjoyed the spicy kick. My boyfriend and I particularly enjoyed the bartending staff when we sat at the bar; they made a few recommendations and custom drinks for my boyfriend and were clearly very knowledgeable / creative! Food: Truly loved everything -- different bold flavors for each dish and good serving sizes for both apps and entrees. Some highlights for me were the house chips (thin, hot & fresh), house made tortillas (with my chili verde), carnitas sliders and the hazelnut flan. Service / Ambiance: The restaurant feels sleek and trendy but also warm & inviting, and also upscale yet casual to fit a weekend date night or weekday "happy hour". As mentioned above, really loved the bar staff, and the dining room service was good. My only two minor critiques are that the dishes are physically large so it's like Tetris to get multiple shareables or outgoing shareables + incoming entrees to fit on the table, and I felt like our dining room waiter was getting a little impatient for us to order when we kept chatting. All the staff we interacted with, from the hostess, our waitress were phenomenal. They were all welcoming and attentive. I'm typically not a fan of pico de gallo salsa but this is probably the only restaurant I'll eat it from especially with the chips. The ambience was great and had a welcoming vibe. Came to Dos Burros for Valentine's Day dinner. Street parking was quite crowded so we parked in the lot down the hill, which was fairly easy. The restaurant has good ambiance and we got our seats at the corner of the bar. The bartender/server was super friendly and helped us order food, and recommend some delicious dishes. The chips and guac had to be ordered but super thin and crispy chips and creamy guac. Also can get a refill on chips but we didn't want to fill up. The drinks and food were all quite delicious. We got the Chili Colorado and enchiladas, as well as some smaller dishes, and everything was delicious. Service was great. Water was always filled and plates taken away promptly so that there was enough space. They even got us a couple strawberries for Valentine's Day. -1 star because the dessert brownie was not impressive / a bit dry and it was a bit crowded to eat at the bar (tables seem better). The patio isn't open yet but the bar and dining room were bustling on a Sat. We made a reservation a week in advance and the latest we could get was 530pm. You'll need a credit card for the reservation and no shows / cancellations are subject to $30 per person charge. On to the food... Tuna poke tostaditos: excellent and the best thing we had. Three mini tostados but you can order a fourth if you're sharing. The chili ponzu kicked it up a notch but was well balanced with the guac and cream. I would eat this every time I go. Mexican shaved corn: very good. A larger than expected portion in a bowl. The aged cotija cheese mixed with the tajin chili seasoning is a great pairing with the roasted corn. Chicken tinga taquitos: ok-ish. A little dry and a bit boring. Wouldn't order again. Enchilada del pobre: very good. We added grilled shrimp. Three mini enchiladas covered with tons of goodness. Lots of interesting cocktails, both traditional Mexican and those from "north of the border". Only silly complaint: shouldn't the donky cake dessert be called burro cake instead? From the hostess to our bartender/waiter, Octavio, the folks working there were warm and genuinely friendly. We chose to sit at the bar as we like the banter, but beware, it's right by the entrance, and it can be chilly. There is one inset booth in the bar area, which I think is THE spot if you prefer the bar action and comfort minus the chill. As for cocktails, I particularly loved their Pinche Picante(5/5). It's a twist on a spicy marg, packing balanced sweetness from the peach and some serious heat from the fire tincture once it goes down. They garnish it with a super fresh lime (you can smell it) and some sort of Tajin-coated, candied fruit. I also tried the No Llaves Guey, but it was more on the sour side. At $14 a pop, you might think you hit a jackpot, but since the cups are filled with a ton of ice, it's actually reasonable. My recommendation is to ask for lite or no ice. For food, we had: -Guac & Chips(4/5): The guac was decent, although it could have used some more Pico and lime for authenticity. The chips were phenomenal. I'm talking thin, crunchy tortillas, dusted with some Tajín and topped with cotija cheese. Not sure if it was an accident or that's how they are served, but I LOVED it. -Asada Ensalada (5/5): This salad puts all the other salads to shame. The veggies were super fresh and crispy. And you get a huge amount of beautifully seasoned, tender steak cubes. It's incredible. -Shrimp fajitas (4/5): Rice was on point. The shrimp were fresh, good quality, and grilled to perfection. The onions were softened while the sweet peppers still retained a bit of their crunch, which made me happy. The fish comes with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. I'd definitely order it again. We had a great time and we will definitely be back with some friends to try more of their dishes. Wow--it's honestly been a while since we've gone somewhere where almost every dish was great. We've been wanting to try this place ever since my wife's client recommended it, and we finally got the chance last night. Our friend, who has food allergies, ordered the chicken tacos and loved them. We shared the steak and shrimp fajitas (though they could definitely be a little more generous with the sour cream, guacamole, and salsa, Only a small portion came with it). We also ordered the carnitas sliders, tuna ceviche (wish we had gone with the trio!), fresh chips and salsa, and the carne asada nachos....everything was delicious. You know, I love the mothership across the street, Hero Ranch. That is one of my favorite places in all the Bay Area. My wife likes Flowers next door, which was designed for women to love. So, when Dos Burros opened, I was hopeful to have a Mexican restaurant my wife would go to with me. I'm not sure we found that place. There just is nothing special about Dos Burros. The food is good. Not great. Not original. The fajitas, yes, are very good. But then the enchiladas could be found just as good on a food truck. And that is how the menu goes. The really bad part of all this, is that it is stupid expensive. Including cocktails. Like Hero Ranch, the service was warm and fabulous. We are regulars at HRK across the street and have been eager to check out this new sister restaurant since we heard our was in the works. Managed to get a last minute reservation at the bar for 5 pm on a Wednesday night. Food was pretty solid, staff are excellent (especially Kevin & Octavio at the bar), and interior design and ambiance looks inviting. Here's what we tried... * Chicken Tinga Taquitos -- Great share dish. 6 cigar sized Taquitos with lots of shredded cotija cheese, Pico de Gallo side salad. Good flavor, perfectly crispy. We did notice they forgot to include guacamole on the dish (as described on the menu), but they promptly brought us a small side of guac which definitely completes the dish! * Asada Ensalata -- Looking for a tasty, low carb dish? This perfectly fits the bill. Tender, juicy chunks of skirt steak over fresh greens. I think this will be a staple dish for us when we come again. * Pollo Signature Tacos -- Tasty, chopped grilled chicken over freshly made corn tortillas. Kevin recommended them with a side of their pineapple salsa instead of the regular tomatillo sauce. Great call, Kevin! The unusual blended pineapple salsa has a great spice kick balanced with good acidity. My wish list for their menu... add an option for Black Beans instead of Pinto (more modern, lighter and healthier), add a Grilled or Blackened Salmon as another healthier Taco protein option, and bring on the popular Chicken Flautas that was featured occasionally at HRK. Overall, it was a wonderful first visit. Same super reasonable wine prices and no corkage policy (up to 6 bottles) as KRK & Flowers. We loved the friendly and attentive bartenders, but the bar stools are cumbersome to get in and out of as they are heavy and crammed too tightly next to each other at the bar. My wife and I met a friend for brunch. Very nice and sophisticated restaurant. I was impressed. The atmosphere was relaxed. Other than the title, you'd never know this was a Mexican restaurant. We were greeted by a charming hostess. Since I had a reservation, we were seated right away. Full disclosure: We got there right when the doors were opened for business. We had a very good waiter. He was relatively attentive. He kept checking in with us, which is always plus with me. My wife liked his nails. I expected a bigger crowd since it was Cinco de Mayo weekend. But maybe since it was mid morning, everyone was recovering from the night before. I had the breakfast burrito. It had no rice (thank God), but it did have bacon. It was very good, We parked in a public parking lot. We had no problems. I'm guessing as the day wears on, it gets crowded. It's not very far from the restaurant. My family and I were really looking forward to celebrating an early Mother's Day dinner here, so it was disappointing to leave unhappy with the experience. The restaurant itself is very nice, the atmosphere was great, and the staff was friendly and polite throughout the evening. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. It took around 20 minutes just to receive our first drinks, and even simple sodas were taking a long time to come out. It appeared there was only one bartender, and service behind the bar moved very slowly. When our food finally arrived, it did not come out together. Everyone at the table was served at different times, which made it difficult for us to enjoy dinner as a family. To make matters worse, the food was cold instead of hot when it arrived. The manager did give us a discount after I explained the issues with the cold food and timing, which was appreciated, but unfortunately it still didn't make up for the disappointment. We were very excited to try this place for a special family celebration, and sadly the experience did not meet expectations. read more

So happy I decided to try this restaurant out before a concert at Mountain Winery. We were seated at the bar and greeted promptly. The restaurant was empty at 5 pm when we arrived, but quickly filled up with other concertgoers. It was clear that the staff was aware of the concert and made every effort to serve everyone in a timely manner. The bartender was helpful with cocktail recommendations and we really enjoyed our drinks. We ordered steak nachos and Mexican corn. I was impressed with the steak on the nachos which was flavorful and tender. Definitely want to dine here again when we are in the area to try some other dishes. read more

This was a great experience! It was our first time. Same owners as Hero and Flowers so expect great flavors and service. We chose to sit at the bar and I am glad we did. We got to have light banter with the bartenders Angelica and Octavio. Both were disarming and engaging. I had the "Don't be a Prick" cocktail (well, a few of them.). My husband tried 3-4 different cocktails and liked each one. We had the carnitas sliders. Honestly one of the best tasting things I have ever had! Really, really good. We also had the tuna tostadas. I was very disappointed with my experience trying to book a table for 12 people for my daughter's birthday at Dos Burros in Saratoga. I was treated poorly during the process, even though I am a customer of their sister restaurants (Flowers and Hero Ranch). I was told we would be charged $80 per person because the group might take longer than usual and impact their business, which felt unfair. I explained we would stay within the reservation time, but I still felt dismissed and unwelcome. Overall, the interaction felt unfair and left a very negative impression. Traditional but elevated Mexican dining experience. The margarita are tasty and they're not shy about the booze. The chips are light and crispy, and the salsas are all on point. We've had both brunch and dinner, and the flavors are strong and the food is well prepared. The only reason for four stars is because the chicken in my fajitas was a little dry and chewy.
