This was my first visit to a chiropractor using a Groupon and I am glad I decided on this practice. Staff was very nice and helpful in informing me not only of what was going to happen in the appointment but also of what the doctor was going to throughly explain to me later so that I will have an understanding! Purchased a LivingSocial deal and was just hoping for the best. I had chronic back/shoulder blade pain and was desperate. I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of the LivingSocial deal. I paid $39.00 minus one of the regular discounts LivingSocial usually has so it ended up being a little over $30. It included a consultation, X-rays, an adjustment, and a 60-minute therapeutic massage. The massage alone is usually $50, I believe. I ended up going to the office on three separate occasions. My first visit included a consultation and X-rays. Dr. H performed a lengthy series of mobility tests and told me to come back next week after he had analyzed everything. When I returned, my X-rays showed issues with my spine. He performed an adjustment and I noticed a change on the spot - my neck mobility increased as did my shoulder strength. Since that day, my daily (!) shoulder blade pain has been gone...KNOCK ON WOOD! I returned another day to have the massage done and it was excellent!! Kyla was terrific - very friendly and professional. Her massage was amazing - I fell into that place between wakefulness and sleep. So relaxing. I was a bit nervous going to the chiro for the first time - 1) adjustments are scary and 2) my boyfriend has a personal vendetta against chiropractors and seems to think they are all quacks. I couldn't even mention the word without a lengthy diatribe on the subject. However, I think this was a terrific deal for the money and I'm very happy I went. Dr. H recommended a weekly treatment (for several months) for me to address the underlying spinal issue. I can't afford it at the moment and don't have health insurance. Otherwise, I'd absolutely go. In addition to adjustments, they also offer physical therapy (they have a physical therapy room). Office is very welcoming btw. Friendly staff and free snacks. Large parking lot. **My one small complaint: I was told it would cost $25 to obtain my X-rays. That fee seemed like a lot for my own medical records. read more

It's in an older building but it's very quiet and pleasant there. The staff are amazing with really upbeat and perky personalities. It seems to be a very positive atmosphere at this office. Dr. Herfindahl is a very interesting guy. He definitely knows his stuff, spewing out things so fast I couldn't keep up while he was recording the session. I very much appreciated his thoroughness and the amount of time he spent with me. At first I didn't understand why he would say he'd be right back and then I would hear noises in the room next door. When I went to the restroom I saw he was adjusting someone. So he handles several patients at the same time it seems. I was getting impatient waiting until I realized he was working with several patients and then felt at ease because he would spend as much time was needed on the whole but had to go back and forth to handle the next step for someone else. It's a tricky thing to do that and I think he does it brilliantly. I didn't have to wait more than 5 +/- minutes each time he left. He is also so fast, with everything really. While he was checking my back and head, I was being maneuvered around so fast I don't know how he knows what he knows so quickly, but I guess 25 years of doing this gives you that expertise. As for the Groupon, they are good with taking that, no problem. At first I didn't like that it was split up into 3 appointments but it has to be that way based on how he does it. The first appointment is when he does his physical exams and x-rays (if needed and located in office) as well as a quick 'Nerve' test. After he is done he gives you a pamphlet to read that goes into detail how the office is run and set up for your future appointments as well as explaining what he found that day and will be reviewing in further detail before your 2nd appointment with him. Mine is set a week after the first. At the 2nd appt., he will review with me his findings and discuss a path for treatment. He found a lot of things with me but I feel pretty good so Im confident these are things that will make me feel better. Actually Im probably in denial as to 'feeling good' and convince myself that but I do have faith that he may be able to get me feeling better. And lastly, there is a massage with a therapist who works out of their office and that is the 3rd and final past of the Groupon. I am looking forward to that as she will know how to massage someone in my condition I am assuming, without hurting me as some therapists do. So I am only prepping for my 2nd appt. and can only review the first impressions. The office is very complete with all the things needed to get one better with the right doctor and staff. It's clean, friendly and there are testimonial books all over the office it felt like. I like that as it means they are very determined to make the experience a great one. The testimonials are real people with names and faces so it's not just someone saying something and their initials. I've been going to Dr. Herfindahl for almost 6 months after ending up in crisis with back pain that prevented me from doing almost everything, and barely able to walk around. Liz, Gigi and Dr Herfindhal are very friendly and helpful. We have been looking for a chiropractor to correct our spine. Our previous chiropractor only gave us the band-aid treatment and we had to go back every week, indefinitely. This facility offers tens unit, traction, cervical bloc for the text neck, and cold laser. They actually try to correct the curve of the spine. You will see the before and after pictures of other patients' spines in the office. They also open until 6pm for the people who work late. And their lot has plenty of parking. If you had asked me about back pain a few years ago, I would have explained how I carry all of my tension in my shoulder blades. There was always a knot on one side or the other I was consistently trying to eliminate. After tweaking my back at a trampoline park, and not finding relief through massage and stretches, I decided it was time to seek out my first chiropractor. My first visit was very thorough (including x-rays), and Dr. Herfindahl explained everything in a clear, easy to understand manner that helped me understand where the issues lie, what my current posture was, and its effects on my body overall. Appointments started with two visits a week, and within the first week, the pain had decreased significantly, and within the first two weeks I would say it was gone completely. Two visits a week decreased to once a week, and now finally twice a month. Over the past year that I've been visiting the office I've seen the initial pain that I went in for completely disappear, my posture improve greatly, the "stress knots" that I used to always have are no longer there, and I have even seen a decrease in the number of migraines I get. I wett to Dr Herfindahl about 4 months ago. I had hurt my back trying to lift the refrigerator. What I did not realize at the time was how bad my back and neck had become overtime working as a new construction plumber. He is not just to crack your back and send you out the door type of doctor. He wants to get to the root of your problem and fix it. After 4 months of therapy and traction my back is stronger than it has been in years. I am back to work now and feeling great. I will start by saying that I came to Herfindahl Chiropractic by way of a groupon deal. I've had chiropractic sessions in the past and was looking to start again due to back pain. The best thing about this groupon is it came with a massage which was one of the most heavenly things I ever received. That and the lovely front desk staff are the main reasons I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2. From the second I walked in the door I was met with a flurry of people in and out of the waiting room. Patients were being ushered back and forth. People were talking loudly. The waiting room is incredibly small so this was a little unsettling. It gave the office more of a commercial feel as I noticed three tables in an open room where people were all preparing for adjustments. The groupon also included an x-ray exam and a one-on-one evaluation. I was brought into a small office with a table and asked to take off all of my clothes. I wasn't immediately thrown off by the request although I had never been asked to do this in past chiropractic sessions. The Dr. moved very quickly and asked me to perform certain movements that I truthfully did not feel comfortable performing in my exposed gown. Had I had some rapport with this doctor it may have been different. He talked very fast and the adjustments were also performed in a rush. He did not make me feel very comfortable in his care throughout my examination. Perhaps I was spoiled by my previous Chiropractor who had a calm and lovely office. He only saw one patient at a time and at most had me take off my shirt with a backless gown so that he could examine my movements. He was also incredibly patient, made me feel comfortable and explained everything to me in a coherent manner. Unfortunately I did not feel the same about Dr. Herfindahl. Lastly, the office was giving incentives (free 30min massages) if people wrote good reviews. I figured that was possibly why there were so many 5 stars and not a lot of 4,3 or even 2s. Perhaps I came on a bad day but unfortunately that doesn't make up for the discomfort I experienced during my visit. read more

I'm officially obsessed with Herfindahl Chiropractic! I purchased a Groupon for an exam, adjustment, and massage. The staff there, Liz, Heather, Kayla, and Dr. Herfindahl are so welcoming and kind. I had only visited a Chiro once before and he didn't do any kind of exam as Dr. Herfindahl does. When I first met Dr Herfindahl, he was thorough, explained exactly what he was talking about, and welcomed and desired questions to ensure I understood what he was talking about. At the end of our consultation, he had X-rays taken to be reviewed and discussed upon my next visit. When I came in the second time, the team remembered me and were just as welcoming, if not more (I'm not sure how this is possible but it just felt this way :), than upon my first visit. After Dr Herfindahl reviewed the X-rays taken, we discussed a treatment plan going forward. Before I set up the adjustment schedule for my treatment plan, Liz came in to discuss the costs with me. She had already contacted my insurance provider and laid out exactly what deductible I'd need to meet, the cost associated with each visit, and then the best news - they were in network and once my in network deductible was met, insurance would pay 90% of the visit which left only $10 for my contribution, for each visit. I almost hugged her (you'll feel this way after meeting her too)! I'm now having three adjustments a week - they are brief with two warm up's and then the adjustment. Dr Herfindahl always chats about items we've discussed in the past and I feel like he truly cares about me as an individual and ensuring he does all he can for me. I also had a massage with Kayla, the massage therapist, which was wonderful. She had the perfect strength for the massage I desired and gave me a few recommendations for body parts I could stretch, and the easy way to do so, at the end of the massage. Sorry I've rambled but I hope this portrays how much I respect and enjoy this business and team. Staff is very friendly and the office has a nice atmosphere. I was able to use an introductory offer of getting an initial exam and x-rays done. My neck and back were kind of f*d up. I was given a treatment plan with an option to prepay. I chose to pay as I go. I rarely have to wait long to see the Dr. and they always have really good flexibility on their appointment times. Also--they play the best motown jams. I'm still in the process of treatment, so I haven't seen the final product yet but so far I am happy with my progress and have noticed a difference after only a short time. read more

OK guys, 2 things about this business. I purchased a Group on deal to come a see what a chiropractic visit was all about and boy was I shocked. 1. Dr. Herfindahl was insanely helpful on making sure I understood not only what he could do, but also how my body works and the spinal functions/effects on other organs and systems in my body. Once he did my x-rays and educated me on what was going on we moved on to the actual adjustment. OH MY GOD. I didn't realize what I had been missing out on all these years. As an esthetician killing my neck and back, this was amazing and I will continue spinal health for the rest of my life. 2. My massage therapist (Kyla) was a saint in her own right. I have had many massages over the years and she did a fabulous job. her bedside manner was amazing and her pressure adjustments were perfect when needed. She definitely knows what shes doing. After all 3 visits ive had with them I will say, if you don't have insurance seeing a chiropractor regularly seems a bit expensive but for the long term it is worth it. I heard about Herfindahl Chiropractic at the Eath Day Fair in Balboa park few months ago. They offered an examination of your spine and nerves for the special price of $20 that day, so I decided that I would try! First, the location is really easy to find, right at the highway exit. My first appointment was by far a very interesting and great experience. I had very bad experiences with doctors before so now I'm being very suspicious, but Dr Herfindahl got my trust right away! He is from Canada, and is just so nice. I came because I had a sciatica which was so painful that I could barely move, plus other spinal problems. Dr H did an X-ray of the painful parts of my body and then explained it to me in a very interactive manner! He has this interactive board with all these buttons linked to all different disc of your spine which illuminate when you press them. He explained my problem by asking me to press different buttons, and all the corresponding organs illuminated. I found it really helpful that he took the time to explain me all these complicated medical issues in the easiest and funniest way possible. Please do not change this method! :) I am going there 2 to 3 times a week. I've seen different chiropractors before, but Dr H is the best! He cracks me from everywhere in a second while other doctors were having a hard time trying to realign me. It's a good feeling! The price is very reasonable for the service you get! I paid this package of 16 sessions for approx. $800 and I got a "Welcome Packet" with different little things in it (ice pack, key ring etc) and I even got a free 30-min massage by their massage therapist! I was very cautious before going to Dr. Herfindahl's office because of two not so great Chiropractors previously. I was more than pleasantly surprised. Luz greeted me by name with an outstretched hand. Dr. H was kind , thorough and very informative. When I left the first visit my pain went from an 8-9 to a 5-6. I was thrilled. I have had nothing short of excellent care at Dr. Herfindahl's Office. I've been on a long journey with them starting with the discovery that my chronic lower back pain was due to the lack of curve in my neck *mind blown* over the course of a year we, yes we, got my neck from a less than 1 degree curve to a 16 degree curve and alleviated nearly all of my lower back pain. I say 'we' because they held me accountable as a patient to make sure I was doing my exercises as to not waste time or money on the visits and to make sure I was making positive changes in my life. Live in pain for a long time is horrible, I was recommended to me by a friend, so I went and he made an incredible review of all my problems in my spine, living with very bad pain in my leg running all the way to my left foot, feeling tingle and numbness in my feet was horrible, I'm a horseback rider and that is something that anyone who love horses can live with it. he recommend decompression and adjustments and since the first day I been feeling a lot of changes, still in treatment and waiting to get back on my horse, my primary Dr send me to a specialist and he recommend the spinal epidural and prednisone, the epidural didn't work at all and the prednisone cause me 2 months of terrible side effects..... thanks in advanced Dr Herfindahl for all you're knowledge and you're great staff specially Liz!! read more
