They are on Main Street in Port Jefferson which makes parking a bit tricky but I had no problem finding a spot that was in walking distance. There was a gentleman who greeted me at the door and I waited only about 3 minutes before I was escorted to the wax room. The owner (I didn't ask her name) was very sweet and passionate about her business and her work. She makes her own sugar wax and sugar scrub for after care. The appointment was quick. Maybe a half hour from parking to being back in my car to go home. Everything was clean and quick and she asked questions to determine how to proceed with the wax and what kind of aftercare I would have. As a first time Brazilian wax customer I would recommend Sugar Sugar. Although I have nothing to compare this experience to, I don't have any reason to go anywhere else.

When making the appointment I spoke to a young lady who passed me on to a more mature sounding female after telling her I'd never been there before. I told her that I have "short and funky" hair and was looking for a stylist who was good with short hair. I walked into the salon for my appointment and met the stylist, I have decided not to use her name, and showed her 4 pics of women who had the hairstyle I wanted. She said, "I didn't know I would be doing a MEN'S HAIRCUT." She preceded to say she didn't have her clippers on her and the receptionist was new and didn't ask the right questions. 1. The last time I checked hair didn't have a gender assigned to it. 2. Why don't you have your clippers and couldn't you have borrowed another stylists? 3. I have never made an appointment at any salon and told them more than the fact that I have short hair. I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble with this post. I'm sure the stylist is a good person and didn't mean anything by it. She honestly seemed very uncomfortable for whatever reason. I THINK THE LANGUAGE NEEDS TO CHANGE: I would not want anyone struggling with their sexuality or gender identity to experience this. (As I did growing up on Long Island in the 90s) I would absolutely avoid this salon if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY or are looking for something outside of the norm. Based on their yelp reviews there is a trend of rudeness, unprofessionalism, and discrimination. I'm sure MOST businesses would want everyone to feel welcome and accepted into their salon... but this is not one of them. Suggestions for the owner: Speak to your entire staff about the language they use. A rainbow flag sticker on door will help the LGBTQ+ feel welcome and safe, but only if you put in the work to create that safe space FIRST! You have my #.

I have to keep my eyebrows in check otherwise I'd look like Bert from Sesame Street. No one wants to see that so every quarter I get an eyebrow tune up. I am not a fan of eyebrow waxing. It sounds barbaric, they smear hot wax on your face, press tape on the wax and PULL! My sensitive skin can't handle that, I usually have marks for days on my face. So when I hear about a threading spot in my neighborhood, I'm going to investigate. I walk in at noon for my appointment. No one is at the front desk, after 3 minutes, I said hello? Someone comes to the front desk and checks me in. My appointment is with Lucy, she shows up about a minute later and brings me into her office. Now with threading, there's participation! Lucy tells me to hold my eye as she takes her magic thread, almost like dental floss and goes to work. The end result, I have a cleaned up face. The question is, what is your pain level? Both procedures, to keep my youthful appearance, there's some pain involved. Nature's Touch Day Spa also does sugaring, that topic is for another review. I tell this story to my brother in law, he laughs at me. The final result, I have my mani-pedi-eyebrow wax complete and I'm ready for vacation.
