The sisters work well together whether it's with home photos or drawings prepared by Rita on the spot. They have a vision that works within the paramaters of your likes, preferences, and comfort zones. Over the past several years, with their mentoring and guidance, I have learned how to coordinate Maria's french fabrics ~ table cloths, french chair pads, chandeliers into our existing decor. Deborah and Rita are very creative and have a very good spatial sense. An example of Deborah's design skill that is viewable in the shop or on-line, is when she folds a rectangular table cloth into thirds and turns it into a runner. Deborah then places a 2nd runner on top creating an illusion of great depth and interest with complimenting fabrics. The china collections of gien, staffordshire, spode, etc. pair up quite nicely with the french fabrics as well as the vintage silverplate trays, ice buckets, silverware, and crystal presentations located throughout the store. Drop in for a custom-made cup of coffee and enjoy the view and graciousness of Deborah and Rita.

Beautiful hand painted plates, authentic quality items. I would love to come back here whenever I get my own place! I got some gold hand painted plates and some cute nic nacs. My wife and I had bought some veryy beautiful goat hide, high craftsmanship chairs from this place. After 2 months ofhaving them, one of them broke while moving it from one place in the house to another, because we enjoy the chairs look and feel we committed to buying another, even though we would need to travel 2.5 hours to pick it up. We love Half Mokn Bay, so we were going to make a weekend of it. Long story short, we ordered, paid and let the store know we will come down this past weekend to pick it up. All was going well, until we showed up to pick up the chair we already paid for.... The staff was clueless to the purchase, after 3 staff got involved nor knowing anything about the chair or purchase, they called the owner who deflected to the customer (my wife) having not communicated with the owner. We ended up canceling the order due to the horrible approach the owner showcased. Blaming the customer, my wife, and making it as though she was in the wrong, we will find the artist elsewhere, I am sure of it, and we will surely skip Abode next time we are in town. Sad but true. I much prefer positive reviews, but also look out for my fellow consumers of good, quality customer service and kindness. So unfortunate, it is such a cute store! Proven otherwise! H

While I can't speak to dealing with the call center, this is my experience with the Palo Alto store and with having furniture shipped to my home. STORE: The Palo Alto location is neatly organized and staffed with tons of employees. Whether you're ogling over a fancy planter, flatware set, or couch, there will always be an employee within 10 feet of you asking what you think of the pieces and asking if you need help. If you're a chatty/needy shopper this will be heaven to you, though if you want to be left alone ... maybe not. I welcome receiving help so I can get in and out of the store with what I need, so don't mind at all. SHIPPING + PRICE: I bought the Hudson Marble Drink Table from them and had it shipped to my house. It arrived undamaged, on time, and it looks great. (See photos.) The fact that it was under $100 bucks at the time of purchase blew my mind, as it even came in cheaper against some picks I was eyeing at my local Target. HANDLING ISSUES: I bought a set of flatware recently, only to find 2 pieces were missing from the box when I arrived home. I called the store and Kyle was super helpful. Because it was right before closing he let me know to come back the next day and ask for him. When I returned, he came over to replace the incomplete set with a proper one and was quite calm and friendly about it. No questions asked that you would usually get at other stores like "are you sure you didn't just lose a couple pieces [because you're an idiot?]" All in all, the store handled my issue seamlessly and provided a hassle-free fix. In reading all of the reviews, it sounds like ordering larger items (beds, couches, dressers) is hit-or-miss when it comes to damaged items and contacting customer service. However, if you stick to smaller items as I do (accessories, dinnerware, and accent furniture) you should be fine. TL;DR: solid retailer, helpful staff, they handled my issue well. Based on other reviews, I either really lucked out or I'm just buying safe items.

I love the expansive show room. It's helpful seeing things in person…read more This review is for the associate I was assigned when I visited to look at a few items. I forgot her name but her attitude was not forgettable. She didn't know where a lot of the items were in the store and had to go to the computer to look it up. Since she would take so long, I'd walk around the store to look around and I'd hear her exclaim out loud to other associates "Where's my client?? Why am I chasing my clients around the store all day today?" I explained to her I was looking around as I was waiting for her. She gave me a wry smile. After I quickly tried to go off on my own since she wasn't helpful, I heard her talking about someone's sexuality with other associates as I was leaving. She was laughing about them "probably being a furry." I felt uncomfortable and quickly left. To be fair, some of the other salespeople I interacted were nice and helpful. It may be a hit or miss depending on who you get.

A very dissapointing experience at your Palo Alto location. I have been a loyal Pottery Barn…read morecustomer for many years and have spent thousands of dollars at your stores. On April 22, I visited the Palo Alto store to return a quilt purched on 4/9/2026. Althout I did not have the physical receipt, I provided my credit card so the purchase could be located. From the beginning, the interaction with the staff member at the register was unclear and unprofessional. He repeatedly stepped away without explanation and seemed unsure of how to process the request. Shortly after, the store general manager Erin McNabb became involved. Despite my explanation that I had only used the quilt once to assess its warmth the situation escalated unnecessarily. I was met with skepticism and dismissiveness. The manager raised concerns about a "red spider" in the quilt which she could not locate, and later pointed out marks that I was not responsible for. The tone of the interaction felt accustory and disrespectful. When I asked for escalation to a higher-level manager, I was initally told there was no one beyond her within the four walls of that store. I was eventually given only an email contact, and the manner in which this was handled felt dismissive. Her EGO was so hurt that she asked me to leave the store and escorted me out. She did not offer any other help at all. She reminded me that the manager above her oversees 5 different stores in different states. I told her that she mistreated me because of my race. She would not have treated a white customer this way. What concerns me most is not only the denial of the return, but the lack of professionalism, consistency, and respect. Both of them did not know if Pottey Barn carried the quilt. I have since contacted another Pottey barn location where I was told the retun could likely be processed if the purchsase is verified- highlighting inconsistency in how policies are applied. 1) I am requesting a review of this incident. 2) Clarification of your return policy and its consistent application across locations and the race of customers. 3) Consideration for a resolution, including the return of the item or store credit and service recovery for insulting a long term loyal customer. 4) Follow- up regarding how this situation will be addressed 5) Please make it clear to the custormer that product must be unused for it to be returned. This was not stated to me at purchase and is not printed on the receipt. 6) After reviewing other negative customer reviews it appears that lack of leadership is an issue with this store location. I value the Pottery Barn brand and have been a long-standing customer, which makes this experience particularly dissappointing. Thank you for your attention to this matter, I look forwad to your response.
