Took my dog middle of March on a weekday before 5pm. They have 3 sections for dogs but most medium to large dogs were playing in one area. Since I have a smaller dog I kept her separate. I was a little disappointed in the "extras" of the park. I will list my pros and cons Pros Grass and cement Waste management with bags Picnic area covered outside the dog runs Cons Water fountain is gone Only 1 bench for humans Mud puddles ( should be fixed) No activity areas Not a lot of shade ( for summer) read more

It's okay. Sometimes people try to bring their small dogs into the big dog area and get upset when the big dogs play too rough. Some people bring in dogs that are a little aggressive and definitely shouldn't be in the park. I watch my dogs like a hawk when I go. Also there needs to be more rules maybe? I had some man tell me you aren't supposed to bring in three dogs at once. I'm unsure if that is true but it really brought down my whole mood. I don't often bring three dogs because the one pulls so bad but I was trying to let him have some fun with my other two. He isn't bad once he's in the park and he is actually my parents' dog. So there really shouldn't be any reason for rudeness. The man had walked out of the park without his dog, past me and then went back and said it while going back to the park. So it felt like he really just came out there to say that to me for no reason. Anyways would give 5 stars but sometimes dogs are a little crazy at it so giving people a little warning. read more

This is a nice little area to take your pups. Everyone/pup that we've met here thus far have been very friendly. Like those have suggested, bring water because there are no fountains for the pups to hydrate inside the park only one little spout right outside the fence entrance. read more

Soccer is a sport played on grass. When the grass is so tall the ball doesn't roll, it's a problem. Its a bit embarrassing when my child's team is hosting games here with teams coming in from other cities to play us. Would be nice to have something we could be proud of. It wouldn't take much....just the proper type of turf mower, water and some fertilizer. read more

First of all, the map on this page is wrong. The Bark Park is on the SE corner of the 101st/Peachers Mill intersection. Go into Heritage Park and go past the skatepark, take the next right and you're there. This place is pretty good. It gets really torn up and it would be nice if they switched up the big dog/little dog sides since no one ever uses the little dog side and there is plenty of grass there. The people are hit or miss. Many people have no idea how dogs play and get upset when they wrestle or nip at each other. Oh, and my dog likes to bark when he plays. It's called the Bark Park...not the Dog Playing Quietly Park, don't get upset if a dog is barking. Like the poster above, please watch your dog. I will watch mine and I know when he's getting too rough and I stop it. If your dog is afraid of everything that moves, bringing him/her to the big dog side isn't a good idea. All in all, a good park. I'm looking forward to the new one opening up on riverside! read more

Very large bark park, divided into three good sized areas. One for large dogs 30 pounds and over, another area for dogs 30 pounds and under, and one for training and/or exercising your dogs which has two pieces of "equipment." One is a large funnel for dogs to make their way through and another is for climbing. As others have said, bring water for your dogs because I didn't see any fountains. Every time I've gone it's been pretty empty so I can't say how the other dog owners are. All I can say is beware of dung mines because not everyone picks up after their dogs. read more

Over the last year, the maintenance at the park has dropped.. I guess they want people to go to the pay-to-play dog park at the Clarksville Marina where you have to pay $$ yearly for the dog park. But overall, Heritage Park Bark Park still has good points.. Still has a working water fountain in the summer {they shut it off in the fall/winter, so you have to bring your water from home} The large dog area has little grass in the cleared area, due to little upkeep now.. The tree area still has grass on the ground. And the small dog area has grass except near the gates. Agility course has some working areas.. Some need work, since it is still broken. They also posted signage against CCW/CHL. Now I understand no one wants their dog shot. But there is violent dogs as well as violent people. And sometimes both are in the area. You can't defend your dogs or your kids while in this park.. Not sure if that is a great idea of banning CHL/CCW.. read more

We live in Dickson, south of Clarksville. It's about a 50 minute drive for us. We have been to the Centennial Dog Park in Nashville. It was all right. Sloped not level and not big. We have a German Shepherd and a Golden Retriever and decided to go to the Clarksville one on Saturday. You can't get in unless you punch in a code. We found a park brochure outside the dog gate. You have to go downtown Monday thru Friday during business hours and pay a yearly $5 fee, vaccination and spay/neuter records. So people who work through the week will not be able to go down to do this. Crossed off our list. Oh, and people were in the park with their dogs. I wish someone would have come over to explain what the deal with the locked gate. Took me awhile to find the brochure on the side of rules sign. read more

i am the proud parent of a super handsome, wicked smart and utterly adorable baby boy named charlee. he is my joy and (along with my husband) is my reason for living. he is also an australian shepherd. suffice it to say that i do whatever i can to make him happy and he is ridiculously spoiled. which is why, the day we arrived at ft campbell, i found a nearby dog park to take him to. after driving around the park complex and searching for awhile, we finally found it (go past the skate park and it is the first right hand turn you can make, into a big parking lot...you'll see it). it was love at first sight, for both of us. the park is AMAZING!!! there is a section for big dogs, one for little dogs and a small agility section. we frequent the big dog section, so that's what i'll tell you about. the fenced in area is half cleared and half wooded, so the dogs can feel like they are in the wild. we have gone at all times of the day and how many other dogs will be there is hit and miss. weekends tend to be pretty packed and afternoons seem better than mornings if you want company. here are some suggestions i have if you decide to bring YOUR beloved pet to the bark park: a) bring water and/or a bowl. there is a dog-level fountain outside the gate, but the dogs get really thirsty if you stay for awhile and it's frustrating to have to put them on a leash and/or risk other dogs escaping. other ppl tend to bring water, but you can't depend on it. i just bring a bowl & fill up at the fountain. b) either bring a chair or be prepared to stand. there is one bench in the cleared out area, one in the woods & some rocks. the benches are usually occupied, so it's luck of the draw if you'll get to sit and the dogs pee on the rocks, so...yeah...sit at your own risk. c) be willing/able to watch your dog. the other day a woman brought her pit bull and her two young children. she left the dog park to fly kites with her kids, leaving her dog alone. she was right outside the fence and every once in awhile would look over to see what her dog was doing. however, she failed to notice that her dog was harassing my dog, chasing him, biting him, humping him. now i get that dogs are dogs and they do these things, but after ten minutes of this, charlee would not leave my side. the pitt continued to bother him, even with me looming over them. i shoved him off more than once and finally we had to leave. charlee was terrorized and he wasn't able to run or play with the other dogs, so really, what was the point in staying? the pitt followed us all the way to the gate, where i shot dirty looks at the inattentive dog owner. please, if you bring a dog, be available to watch it & discipline as needed. d) on that note, be aware that dogs bark. they nip. they hump. they play rough. they ALL want the ball that just bounced past. if you bring your dog to the park, you have to understand that these things WILL happen. but also know that you need to be ready to pull your dog out of the middle of a fight, control the amount of humping that goes on and apologize for the inevitable barking/chasing/horseplay. i have had to take charlee home early more than once for being mean to other dogs. they're just like kids...they need boundaries and consequences. e) CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG! yeah, it's posted, but ppl don't always do it. bags are provided, so pick up the poop! i don't know why, but every dog that comes to the park poops EVERY TIME...it's some kind of scientific anomaly. f) after it rains, there are big mud holes. charlee and i try to avoid going the day after it rains, but the mud does tend to stick around for a few days, so put a blanket or a towel in the back of your car, just in case. and lastly, g) be ready to talk to people. they will want to know about your dog: the breed, how old...all that stuff. this is a great opportunity to brag about your baby, meet other ppl and make some dog park friends. the same ppl tend to turn up, so try to remember their dogs names, even if you can't remember theirs. charlee and i *try* to go every day, so hopefully we'll see you out there! read more

I love the bark park and taking my dogs there. The people who go there I can not say I like that many of them because their dogs are unruly and they nip at mine. People with violent dogs should keep them at home not bring them in a place like that. They won't stay in the right weight place and put a big down in the small dog area. Then my little dog gets pushed around and hurt. She has been rolled before and even ripped her sutures. Sometimes there is not any dog poo baggies in the providers but I usually just bring my own. Others clearly do not clean up after their dogs, because once I went to my car and had it all over my shoes. The place bets really muddy after a light rain and you have to wait forever to be able to go again. I do like the water fountain for the dogs though and it is very useful. Would be nice if they had more place to sit though, there is only two benches per section. Not a good place for kids, because people have untrained dogs that will jump on them and knock them down. read more

Nice, large dog park. BUT BEWARE OF PEOPLE WITH AGGRESSIVE DOGS. We went for the first time today and as soon as we opened the gate, a brindle pit/bulldog mix was growling and biting our border collie mix. I had to pull this dog off of her and the only apology we got was, "Sorry, he gets worked up sometimes." Luckily, I got him off in time and there was no blood. All of the other dogs there (including many pit bulls so no stereotyping) were well behaved. Also, bring your own doggie bags and water. read more
