About a month ago I needed an emergency filling put on my front tooth after the previous fell off. I was referred to Willow Bend Dental and will definitely continue to be a patient. They saw me the same day I called and Dr. McKinnis sculpted a beautiful filling on my front tooth (better than the previous). When I returned to Willowbend to get a cleaning and x rays, they asked if I had a hygienist I preferred and I thought no why would that matter. It does. Buyer beware! I have been coming to Willowbend Dental for years and every time I do I say it will be the last. Finally I will fulfill that and never return. I simply just would like a teeth cleaning as my insurance provides me. I try to manage those expectations when booking my appointment as I know when you go into this practice they press you hard to sell you on anything they can. Today they tried again with charging me above and beyond the cleaning I had asked for. When I stated I didn't want that they refused service so I walked out. I came to Willow Bend Dentistry as a new patient after moving to the area, looking to establish care. The location was convenient and the online reviews seemed promising. I take good care of my teeth, brushing twice daily, flossing occasionally, and having had braces and permanent retainers growing up, I was shocked when I was told I had over 10 cavities during my first visit. That immediately raised a red flag for me. Still, not wanting to start over somewhere new, I agreed to have the three worst cavities filled (despite originally requesting to treat only the one I was most concerned about), along with a routine cleaning. Even with good dental insurance, I paid about $300 out of pocket. Shortly after the visit, I began experiencing pain and sensitivity on the right side of my mouth.... so much so that I couldn't chew on that side. I returned, and the dentist said my bite was too high and shaved the filling down, telling me the pain should resolve within a week. It didn't. I returned a second time and saw a different dentist, who shaved it down again. Weeks went by, the pain continued to worsen, and since I was only chewing on my left side, my jaw became inflamed and my TMJ flared up. Still trying to get answers and some relief, I returned for a third follow-up, this time with the original dentist again. I explained that the previous adjustments hadn't helped, but he insisted the bite was still too high and filed it again. This time, the pain was intense to the point where I was in tears in the chair. I was told numbing wasn't an option because it would interfere with assessing my bite, which made the experience nearly unbearable. I was eventually given nitrous just to get through the procedure which didn't do much but allow me a moment to catch my breath. By the end of that appointment, I was told that if things didn't improve, I'd need to be referred to a root canal specialist. Which is a joke considering I came in originally with perfectly healthy teeth and my cavities aren't nearly deep enough to need one. At this point, I've decided to have my X-rays sent to my previous dentist out of state and will be making the trip home to have this corrected. What began as a simple cleaning turned into months of discomfort, multiple missed hours of work, and new dental issues I didn't have before. I truly wish I had trusted my instincts and sought a second opinion sooner. I went in for a cleaning, left with a dozen alleged cavities, and now may need a root canal??? No. read more

What dental office can you walk into and immediately feel the warm surroundings, smiling faces greeting you and not feel the normal anxiety most people have when going to dentist???? My daughter had an appointment for a routine cleaning but was informed she needed a gum treatment instead, which insurance later deemed not necessary based on their review of the information submitted by the dentist. Without receiving an estimate of the cost, they did the treatment, which totaled $1,300, and was told she needed Invisalign (which she previously had) totaling $3,300. She walked in for a routine cleaning appointment and walked out with charges and proposals totaling $4,600. read more

Aug. 6th, 2020 my son & I went in for a simple cleaning. Staff was nice & hygienist did a good job cleaning my teeth & my sons. (Our last cleanings were in October 2019, no issues at all) Dentist comes in, looks at X-rays for 5 seconds & says I have 5 cavities. (I did not let them x-ray my 4.5 year old, we still brush & floss his teeth to ensure they're clean, but I bet money if they had x-rayed he'd say he had cavities) Aug. 10th my wife goes in for a cleaning. She's told she has 13 cavities, needs a crown, & a night guard. Aug. 19th my wife goes in for a second option & guess what? No cavities, no crown needed, no night guard needed. I'm sure this place does amazing cosmetic work, but they want money out of you even if there is nothing wrong. I urge you to get a second opinion if you go in for a cleaning or better yet, not use them for general cleanings at all. We will not be returning. read more

The cleaning itself was great, but just know that you'll never meet the actual dentist shown in the photos from their website. I had a great hygienist. I did have to have a cavity filled, but the filling came out a few weeks later. But the person that filled the cavity was filling in for the actual dentist that's usually there. They patched me up during my second visit and the filling hasn't come out since then. But. Due to their high turnover rate in the office, they can't seem to get their accounting and billing information for my file correct Because of this I have decided to discontinue my services with them. When I called to schedule the appointment they were extremely rude, the receptionist I spoke with was named Crystal. I was just calling with questions about the dentist and she wasn't able to help AT ALL and she was impatient, unpleasant, and nasty. I've been coming to willowbend dental for so long I dont even remember, 7 or 8 years now? They used to be fantastic but my experience today makes sure I'm not going to be a customer of theirs anymore. I havent been in for a while because of covid but I made an appointment on 11/15/21 for a cleaning. I get a confirmation text and an email with no issues so I use my PTO to get the time off. The day of, I get there and they cant find me in the system. They finally found me and the receptionist started reading off my address to confirm. She then asks me to fill out a new patient file which is odd but I do anyways . As I'm filling it out she comes over and says that they dont have time for me right now but I can reschedule. The system said they tried to call me even though they didn't. I've had willowbend dental saves in my phone for the past half decade. She offered me a measly cleaning thing for my cleaning but I have insurance, why would I care about a free cleaning service ? I ask her why this is happening when I have two forms of confirmation of my appointment but goes back to blame their system which I made in their website Dont come unless you're willing to gamble your time if they can have their basic clerical up in order. This office is beautiful but the best part is the staff . I've been coming to see Dr.Beougher for years and I absolutely feel well taken care of in particularly by the office's dental assistants. He equips his office with extremely knowledgeable staff and you're treated with care and priority. I've had veneers (beautifully done ) , cavaties filled , and deep cleanings as well as mouth guards. I love that they come up with a reasonable plan for your needs and I can't express enough how amazing his assistants are . My daughter went in for a checkup and to discuss wisdom teeth removal. She is 21 and just relocated to the area. They told her she had a huge amount of cavities (which I now see is a common theme) and they planned the wisdom teeth removal (1 of the 4 was impacted) They performed the procedure to remove all 4, and sent her home with regular Tylenol and Motrin. No pain meds whatsoever. This was on a Friday morning - and they gave her no emergency number to contact over the weekend. She suffered in pain and went in Monday. They gave her some meds but not pain killers, she had to go back on Wednesday because pain was severe. They looked quick and said everything looks fine. Fast forward to Saturday night as she was up most of the night in pain-face swelling, neck pain into the ear (all described on Wednesday as well). Went to a dental urgent care who put her on a new meds and pain killers, and referred her to a different oral surgeon. Turns out she has a hematoma just below the jaw, into her neck that is quite concerning and is being dealt with as we speak. They said this team should have caught on to this based on her symptoms. They never really took her serious and because of that she had to suffer for 10 days before she finally got some good help. Very disappointed!!! read more

FYI: This review is for Kid's Dental, which is part of Willow Bend Dental :) I'm a bad parent, or so I feel like it. I honestly believed kid's were supposed to go to the dentist when they were 4, but then I read articles that they're supposed to go when their first tooth comes in, others said after teething, etc. Needless to say, I figured I'd take my son when he turned 4. Which he did (too soon if you ask me), so I made an appointment. Making the appointment was a breeze. We arrived on the day of the appointment and the staff was incredibly nice and very sweet. My son got to pick a movie (surprise, it was Disney's Cars, his crack) to watch while they did the cleaning. Now, my son is rather shy and a scaredy-cat. But the staff at Willow Bend went above and beyond to comfort him and explaining the procedures. He eventually was able to let them work and he relaxed a bit while watching his movie. The dentist, Dr. Shah, explained to us his situation (yes, he's got 3 cavities, eeep!) and gave us suggestions for preventing them. She explained the procedure for cavities and took time to answer our questions. We definitely didn't feel rushed out the door. Kiddo got his prizes (along with a spankin' new toothbrush!) in a little goodie bag and left the office incredibly happy, with shiny clean teeth and no longer afraid of the dentist. I couldn't thank them enough for being so easy-going with my son!! Did I mention their offices are totally cool and even have a HUUUGE play area in the waiting room? What kid wouldn't love that, right? I totally recommend them for anyone with kids who may have some concerns with dentists or just want really great service. Wasn't too thrilled to get charged over $40 for an antibiotic gel/spray that for one had no idea I was being charged extra to use. I also was unaware there would be something like this administered as I have asked for the novelty things to be taken off such as fluoride. I am against antibiotics and fluoride unless something such as antibiotics are needed for a type of infection. read more

I was skeptical at first. This place looks like a damn castle. It's ornate and brash. My first thought is, "THIS is what I'm paying for??' That was my attitude until I met Adrian...possibly one of the best dental hygienists I've ever had. You know, I'm really jealous of Adrian because she is one of the few people that I have met who really loves her job. She REALLY does. Not only that, but she is damn good at it. I completely trust her and her opinions about the best way to care for my teeth. Also, Dr. Irvine is one of the friendliest dentists ever. She sits and talks to you like she's known you forever. Neither the hygienist or the dentist ever tried to push anything on me. I know they have all the bells and whistles, but not once did they try to upsell products. My family and I switched to here because We had heard good reviews about it and we were in need of switching. We go in for a normal cleaning and do x-rays. All of a sudden the dentist and nurses are bombarding me with all these problems I have with my teeth. I had never had a cavity before in my life and all of a sudden both me and my sister have 5-6 cavitites each and suddenly we are in need of sealants and cavitites treatment. It was crazy the amount of money we were about to spend, we decided not to and actually get a second opinion about this. Just finished getting looked at by another dentist and I had NO cavitites! I am not one to do reviews but I had to for this place. Everyone here was nice but at the end of my cleaning visit they told me I had 11 cavities. I would've had to do 2 BIG payments. I have only ever got 2 cavities my whole life. I went back to my old dentist an hour away to get a second opinion and did xrays again and not one single cavity was found. My dentist was shocked and triple checked my teeth for anything. I have always got compliments on my teeth and I could not imagine if I stuck with Willow Bend Dental to get 11 holes in my teeth. I am a 15-year patient of Willow Bend Dental and just saw a review from Stef W. about not needing sealants or having groove cavities. As a new patient, I had these same suspicions 15-years ago as they took photos of my teeth and it looked like stain. Their decay detection laser said there was decay under the groove stain. Sure enough, when the stain and groove was cleaned out, a dark early cavity spot was there. They took photos and walked me through every step to prove to me that the decay was there. They explained that all of the new fluoride will now mineralize over the top of the groove cavities making them hard to find until they get rather big and then more tooth is lost to decay and then larger fillings. A lot of dentists are not into this detail and miss a lot of decay to help the patient. Old technology doesn't find the decay. Dr. Beougher and his hygenists use an advanced laser cavity detection that is 95% accurate that shines into the tooth to tell you if decay is present (they told me it's called Diagnodent). Modern offices use advanced early detection to save your tooth structure. After 15-years, I know you can trust Willow Bend Dental. If they recommend a filling, it's because there is decay; if you have deep grooves, they sometimes recommend sealants to protect your teeth and seal out cavities. They always took photos at every step to prove this to me. I have had a full smile makeover and it's changed my life. I trust them 100%. They can prove up everything they recommend. I have even referred all of my family and friends to Willow Bend Dental. They have been in Plano over 30-years and I disagree with Stef W's review. Beware of offices that don't use modern techniques to help you get early detection. Finding out BEFORE you have a real problem is less expensive than waiting. They have also told me when I had "borderline cavities" and put them on "hold and watch" for me as they don't want to recommend treatment unless it is really needed. I will continue to go to and recommend Willow Bend Dental and thank the entire staff for always looking out for me and my smile! read more

I was referred to Willow Bend Dental by a friend. Dr. Beougher and his staff were great. Upon walking in the door, I was greeted by the front office staff. Both ladies were very personable. The Dental Assistant, (please forgive me for not remembering her name), was very nice and knowledgeable. She gave me detailed information about my teeth that hadn't been offered by any dentist office I have visited in the past. Dr. Beougher was professional and client-oriented. He examined my teeth based on the treatment I stated I needed. He made a few suggestions, but never tried to persuade me to pay for other treatments. This was a totally different experience than what I experienced at other dentist offices. Janet, was very sweet. She offered water & even a restroom break, lol. This place is crap. You have to wait for ages for the dentist. They have 20 plus assistants but only one or two are proper dentists. They are also a total rip off. I had 3 fillings done and before my procedure they told me it was 100% covered. So I left and a week later they sent me a bill for $132. I told them to go away and a week after that I went to another dentist because one of my teeth ached from the filling. The new dentist told me they had drilled too close to the nerve. Basically willow bend rushed the job and botched the filling. Stay clear of these from the outside it looks nice but there is a horrible incompetent underbelly. read more

I'm not from around the Dallas area originally so I was really stressed about needing to find a dentist up here and not knowing where to go. After looking around online, I found this place and it seemed amazing, so I decided I would try it out. The staff is always really friendly, especially Dr. Irvine. Sometimes the assistants seem a little clumsy and that stressed me a bit but I've never had any real problems so I don't fault them for that too much. The location is amazing. It looks like a castle on the outside and the inside isn't much different. The decor is really nice and there is a little fireplace in the waiting room as well as coffee and water. This is nothing like my old dentist's office. You can watch TV or movies while you are having work done and they will even let you have a cozy blanket if you're cold. My only real issue with this place is the people that have done the billing. They had to submit my insurance claim over 4 times simply because they entered wrong information and making simple mistakes, even though it was correct in their computer. Overall, the friendly staff and the fact that Dr. Irvine is awesome and really knows what she is doing makes me like this place a lot more than the little mishaps make me dislike it. read more

You should never judge a book by its cover. It's a great office but the staff and dentist is below average. During my first appointment I had to wait 1 hour to see the dentist. When I made my next appt they messed up the time and services provided. I had to call them twice to make sure right right services were provided. I don't know why people even go there. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Beougher and the staff at Willowbend Dental! From the very first consultation for porcelain veneers, everyone was extremely knowledgeable, welcoming, and genuinely excited to help me get the smile I was hoping for. The entire process from consultation to final placement only took about 6 weeks and was a very simplistic and pain-free experience. Dr. Beougher is always personally involved every step of the way which is very reassuring as he makes sure to share his professional opinion but also listen to his clients questions and concerns. The staff made me feel like I was truly their only client, always remembering to ask questions about things we had previously discussed. I just had my final setting of my veneers and absolutely could not be happier. I had an idea of how they would look - knowing they would be amazing of course - but I did not realize how it would truly affect my confidence! I had tried many different ortho options growing up, but in my late twenties I had come to accept that I was simply not happy with my smile and I was embarrassed by my teeth.
