This experience was truly a lovely one. I went to Hermie's from a recommendation from a coworker of mine. I went to the salon on Saturday October 28, one day shy of my 32nd birthday and wanted to leave feeling foxy and fierce. Well the time I entered I was greeted by the lovely owner Hermie. She was very welcoming and accommodating. The stylist who braided my hair was an individual though young in age, very experienced in braiding. I was more than satisfied with my style and this will be my go to from now on. I was so impressed and satisfied with the service and the price of my lemonade braids. The atmosphere at Hermies is wonderful with all the different island accents discussing current events while patiently but eagerly waiting for their turn to be styled. It's so funny. Hermie herself makes the shop exciting because she is naturally funny, especially if someone walks into the shop off the street and don't speak. A true West Indian. All the Stylists work well together and are highly professional and each individually have their own special skill. My Stylist is Jenny and she is just fabulous! this salon is a class by itself. the services you get is exceptional, from repairing damaged hair, weaving the shortest of hair. My stylist jenny works magic on my hair, and my granddaughter's stylist Isha treats her so special is it wonderful to watch. while waiting you can check your e-mail on the computer available to customers free of charge, or watch the news, and for the people who loves to listen to good gospels you get it. Excellent!! She was absolutely a delight. They really know what they're doing and are so nice and understanding. I went in with my friend who wanted to perm her natural hair and get a pixie cut. She had damaged hair in the back but Hermie's didn't even bat an eyelash or miss a beat and hooked her up! She left feeling absolutely beautiful. And a lot of other customers were getting their hair done, not one leaving with dissatisfaction. A nice friendly salon that doesn't intimidate you whether you're a first time customer or a returning. I have been going to Hermie's since I was a little girl and I have been always been happy with the results. Not only does this salon have great stylist but it has the warmest atmosphere. I have never left Hermie's disappointed which is why I think the salon has been opened in the same location for so many years. When people are happy they return. Its nice to have hair stylist you can trust. A lot of New York salons the stylist aren't friendly and they want to do what they want with you hair without asking your opinion. As a former heat damage victim, I was initially nervous to have my natural hair straightened but Hermie did a great job of reassuring me and I can confidently say that my hair snapped back perfectly. The salon was clean and had the vibe of an old Brooklyn salon. I did ask for a silk wrap and I am not 100% sure that I got what I asked for but my hair still turned out very nicely. Hermie also recommended using a new product to combat hair dryness which I did use and so far my hair does feel softer and more manageable. I will definitely be back! read more

I went to Hermie's about a week and half ago after a friend of mine recommended this salon. I wanted to add highlights and try a new style/cut for the summer.
