Didn't finish the job. They may have skills in rough electrical but they certainly do not know to do low volt for smart home features - even though they mihh FGt say they can do it and want the business. Find somebody else for any big job that is more than a regular switch and light. read more

They confirmed the issue in minutes and then they were able to fix it a couple minutes after that, bad breaker. They were fast efficient and extremely knowledgeable. Fantastic, from start to finish. We just purchased a new house and opted to upgrade our electric panel. We reached out to a couple different businesses for quotes to include mid- and large-sized companies and solo guys. Rutilo, the owner of Hernandez Electric, was by far the most responsive and most helpful. The price for a panel upgrade is pretty standard and we didn't really find any differences there, so we picked the company that provided the best customer service and least amount of leg work on our end--to include the coordination with NV Energy (this in-itself was so worth it to me!) Rutilo's crew showed up on the scheduled day (dictated by NV energy) and worked until sundown to get our new panel installed. They also disconnected the old service meter and patched up the area of our siding where the old panel was. He did all the appropriate items and paperwork for the permitting and inspection. Now we have a nice new electric panel and don't have to deal with fuses! I'll definitely call Rutilo again when we go to add a secondary panel for our garage and for any future electrical needs we can't tackle ourselves. read more

I found Hernandez Electric on YELP. I spoke to Rutilo (the owner) by phone and hired them to install fans in my home. Rutilo and a helper showed up at the appointed time and did a fantastic job. They cleaned up everything and even programmed the remotes for me. I discussed with Rutilo a problem I was having in finding a contractor to install two whole hose fans. I showed him what I wanted to do and the fans I wanted installed. This will not be an easy job as the fan grill will need to be installed 20' above a staircase. He went into the attic to see what he had to do to install these and immediately agreed to do the job. Problem solved. I will write another review when this new project is completed. Bottom line I would hire Rutilo again without calling anyone else. read more

Recently had service done. First, two electricians arrive, so we are being charged for twice the labor, but we're not sure what's wrong so maybe we need two. They reattach the porch light that fell down and sparked then check the fuse box and flip the switch that tripped restoring power to part of the house. We didn't try this ourselves because of the spark---call the professionals. It takes less than 10 minutes and we are not charged for any parts or equipment. After the repair they advise we will be sent an invoice. Surprise! $340. Labor for 2 hours for two guys. Despite the advertisement on their website that "no job is too small," there is a minimum service call charge that is not disclosed on the website or by the female who scheduled our appointment. Live and learn. Someone did mention in their 4-star review. Crazy. Won't use them ever again. read more

I was looking for electrician and was finding it hard to get somebody that I could feel comfortable with to come to my home. After a few calls I found Hernandez electric I spoke with the owner and gave him my request of what I needed. He'd already been working a long day and promised me he would stop by and look at the job. As promised he came by the same day gave me a very fair quote , Like a lot of companies in the area nowadays everybody is busy but he made time and showed up the very next day and also finish the job early saving me money instead of cheating me and being lazy on the job. The two electricians who came to fix an outlet and switch and hard-wire a Ring doorbell were prompt, pleasant, and knowledgeable. Finding the wire that was causing the plug/switch malfunction took about an hour and a half, but I'm told that can happen. I subtracted one star, not for the service, but for the billing. When setting up the appointment, no one told me that the hourly rate for two people would be $165, and that all but the smallest fraction of an hour would be charged as a full hour. They worked for 3 hours and 20 minutes, meaning Hernandez received $110 for, basically, nothing. Then there was the $65 travel fee. These surprises are partly my fault; I should have asked beforehand, but the person setting up the appointment should have told me all this. I never would have known to ask about the "Angi lead" fee of $41.69. It was explained that this is what Angi charged Hernandez for the referral--and then they pass it on to the customer! In all, I was charged $841.69 to have one plug and one light switch fixed, plus a Ring doorbell (which I provided) hard-wired. Maybe that's not surprising, but it was to me. I have canceled my Angi membership. It's no longer the company it started out to be. Now it seems to be more of a scam, for contractors and consumers alike. read more

After getting 9 quotes for hooking up a hot tub, our last quote was from Hernandez Electric. The owner, Rutilo Lara, gave a quick and honest quote, which happened to be significantly lower in price, and quicker in appointment availability than the other 8 companies we called.. The other quotes ranged from high to astronomical, and all companies were 2+ weeks booked out. Mr. Lara had the job done in a few hours and the quality of his work was beyond what we hoped for (my husband was in the construction business for over 20 years and knew what he saw was above par). Mr. Lara started the company himself in 2019 and, if you like supporting small business like we do, I recommend him without hesitation! (as a follow-up to my review posted on Next Door, a neighbor I don't know personally also hired Hernandez Electric and had a quote one day, work finished the next, and was beyond thrilled with her experience as well!) read more

My wife and I downsized into a 20-year old home in Hidden Valley/Reno, and we discovered immediately that the home needed a ton of work, including electrical. I sent out a query to my FB friends, and Hernandez Electric was highly recommended. So, I called and Rutilo came out to meet me and learn about our projects. He was VERY thorough; he gave advice, offered suggestions. Very consultative. We ended up with 4 key projects: dedicated wiring & circuits for our koi pond; dedicated wiring and receptacles for our 8'x20' shed; new wiring for a large covered screened-in patio, including flood lights; and a two-phase project with a kitchen demo and re-build. Through it all, Rutilo was on top of each phase of each project, and he was very flexible with timing and scheduling for each. His crews were highly respectful, very prompt and efficient.
