Based on so many good reviews, maybe my expectations were too high? I would not hire Olectric again, though they did fix the electrical issues I needed fixed, so they get three stars. The work itself would get 5 stars but the experience overall was not great. The problems were: -Late. Said they'd arrive between 7 and 7:30 am (ouch) but came at 7:45 am -Neither Dale nor Alex wore masks. I didn't ask them to, as I am vaccinated, but I was wearing one and they still didn't put them on. Not cool -Left a (small) hole in my bedroom ceiling where Dale accidentally punched a hole while working; came back and threw some spackle on after I followed up about it and some of these other issues -Left a larger hole in a wall where he removed an outlet -My original estimate was for ~$600, based on a list of issues identified in my home inspection. I changed some of the tasks (ditched some, added some) based on priority as we found more things, and expected the amount to change, but would have really appreciated a heads up on billing or the amount - the final amount was $875, not a very welcome surprise -That is because for two guys, they charge $95/hour each, and I got to pay for things like smoke breaks and time playing with my cat. Had I realized I was paying more than $3 per minute, a LOT of things would have been VERY different about that visit -Their work installing a GFI outlet that turned out to be bad was far from efficient. Alex installed it, and when I tested it, found it wasn't working. So he went back to fix it and couldn't. Then both of them worked on it. Eventually, they realized it was bad out of the box and installed a new one. I get that GFIs can be tricky and that a bad one is going to extend the time on installing, but I didn't really see any of the promised efficiency in figuring that out -They labeled my electrical panel but I guess got confused a bunch so had to cross things out and re-label them. There are a whole lot of notes on the panel now -The electrical panel needed strain relief added, which I understand is a small piece of plastic that goes around a wire. Dale added that, and also used foam at that part and lots more in the top of the box. This may have been normal and for a good reason, but it made it a lot harder for the guys installing the electric for my central air unit (which they knew I was getting/I specifically asked if I had enough space on my panel for it) -I waited for this appointment for about three weeks. I know people are busy and that's not necessarily a problem but I got conflicting info from Rick, who emailed me back, and the woman who I called to actually schedule it. So it was kind of a letdown. So! I do appreciate the fixes they made to my electrical issues. Dale was really nice. Alex doesn't work for the company anymore, I heard. We hired Olectric to change out some light fixtures, install 2 ceiling fans, and install can lighting on the first floor of our two story home. We were aware we would require some drywall work with the can lighting. The first day they arrived there were supposed to be 3 people, but there were only 2 and they were not aware the can lighting would be down stairs so they said they had to reschedule the can lighting. After they left the first time after installing some light fixtures we started finding rusty nails and screws all over the house in the areas they did work. We have an infant at home who can easily get to these locations. The second time they came out to install the can lighting they did not have the dimmer switches we had requested from the very beginning. After looking at the job in person, they said they would need to make 4 holes in addition to the holes for the can lights down stairs. They ended up doing MUCH more than that, and by the time they left our floors were completely covered in drywall dust, as were our couches and books and photos and counters and tables and rugs. They made no attempt to clean and left wiring, nails, and screws throughout our living room and kitchen. After speaking with the owner about these issues he gave us a discount, but nobody has come out to install the dimmer switch as they said they would. Our drywall repair was just completed today and we were told they do not understand why they needed so many holes, or how some of the holes were even made. One looked as if a hammer had been taken to it. To top it off the drywaller said when he want to do touch ups around a chandelier they hung, that when he barely tapped it the entire chandelier swung around from the base of the light, where it should be snug up against the ceiling. Our floors have permanent damage from all of the drywall dust and now our lighting is a liability to anyone who walks into our kitchen. While the electricians are not drywall experts, the owner assured me before all of the work was done that drywall repair would not exceed a few hundred dollar. Definitely will NEVER call this electrician again. I had a problem with my outlets and by the time the electrician got here everything was working. They charged me $125 for like 5 minutes worth of work. HA! The guy opened my electrical box and tightened a couple breakers. I asked how much I'd get charged and he said "I'll write it up, it's usually $120 an hour, I'd say probably $50." Got a bill in the mail for $125. Last time I'll EVER call them again, so rather than repeat business I really hope they enjoy their $125 and don't spend it all in one place because they'll never see another penny from me! Update: glad to know that the owners idea of "running a business" is to argue with upset customers on Yelp. See owners response to my comment. The issue with the service was the tech told me it would be $50! If you don't know then don't say! I kept the appointment in the off chance that I might actually have something wrong with my wiring. I'm not an electrician and I had no clue if there was some loose connection in the wall or a frayed wire. Expected the guy to actually come into the room where I had the problem and maybe test something. Instead he went to my electrical box, where my home inspector had just inspected about a month before when we bought the house, and screwed a couple things in uselessly. Had I known the minimum charge I would have had him actually do something! Instead, thinking it'd be $50 i let him leave after 5 minutes. Not to mention that two hours after he left the outlet stopped working again! I opened up the box and fixed it myself! Great service at an affordable price! I was very grateful to get a same day appointment on a Friday when our dishwasher, garbage disposal and over-sink light wouldn't power up, even after resetting the breaker. The owner, Rick, quickly diagnosed the problem and got us partially up and running. Some of the parts weren't with him that day, so he came back to finish the job on Monday without charging for another full visit. Work was excellent at a fair price. We like that Olectric charges an hourly fee vs. other electricians who charge a fee just for walking in the door, plus parts and labor on top of that. I called about a half a dozen companies that Friday morning, and of the few that were available that day, extra 'rush' fees would apply. Buyer beware! I own a 500 sq ft apartment and needed some electrical work, I regret calling Olectric. The electricians told me that they lacked access to the ceiling, and they would need to cut a hole. I accepted the recommendation of the professional, and approved the cut out. The electrician cut one hole, and then came back to cut another. Cutting the hole twice imposed a greater cost on repair. At the end of the day the senior electrician informed me that they found ceiling access in the closet, and cutting the hole was a mistake. Olectric refuses to offer any remittance for the damage caused to my property. The Olectric PoV is that I should know better than their electricians with regard to access points available within a 500 sq. ft. apartment. My concern is for my tenant on a 100 degree day, and I simply did not know about the ceiling access point. While I did not know, Olectric made no effort to inspect the unit effectively before recommending the action, and imposing meaningful damage to our property. Buyer beware! read more

Just had a new clothes dryer installed and the installer messed up the wiring so the breaker kept tripping. Wish I could give 0 stars. Very unhappy with the service we were provided at our home in Reno. Bought a new house. I'm experienced with changing electrical outlets and minor wiring with my job, but I leave the more complex things to a professional. My husband called this company to come out when some lights were going out a few weeks back. They came and they switched and outlet were working. We made it clear that they sometimes shorted and wouldn't work even after resetting the breakers then would be back on. Long story short, minimal was done to fix our problem. They checked the break box and current in the outlets, that's all. We were charged like we actually received service. The issue is still persisting. I love this company! Am finally posting a review after a number of projects I've had Olectric do. Got several quotes before settling on them and liked that Rick came out and took the time to listen to what I needed done. He was dependable and was efficient in getting back to me with a quote . . . and believe me, I had a LOOOOONG list of things I needed help with. So the day comes for the work to be done and two vehicles pull up, right on time. Darnell, Ty, Dale and Justin took care of everything, were professional, and cleaned up. But wait . . . there's MORE!!! Some of my light fixtures hadn't arrived so I told them they'd have to come back. The guys were packed up and getting ready to leave for the day when UPS dropped off 8 fans and lights. They unpacked and got right back to work and finished everything. I'm sure they wished I could have gotten my act together more, but they didn't show it and were great! But wait . . . there's MORE!!! So they let me know there was a broken truss in the attic.
