Called and was told they would charge $125/hour to troubleshoot and fix an issue I was having. I suspected my GFI outlet just needed to be replaced, but didn't have a tester to verify I had turned off the correct circuit so I wasn't comfortable doing it myself. The technician just had to disconnect and reconnect the 4 wires to the new outlet I provided, and he was done 8 minutes after arriving. Tech called the office to get a total price and told them his total time was 29 min including the drive. Total charge- $115. If you have a minimum charge for a service visit, don't quote an hourly rate. Tech didn't even bother to reinstall the faceplate or pick up the trimmed/stripped wire, I guess the stereotype about electricians being messy is true. Wouldn't use them again. read more

I found these guys on yelp and needed 4 canned recess lights put in. They showed up on time and worked quickly. The lighting came out great! The reason for 4 stars is because they did leave quite a mess. The guys working didn't use a drop cloth in the space and it was dumping snow outside, so when they walked in and out they brought the snow in with them. Then when they walk across all the fallen drywall from the cutouts it basically glued to my floors. And even though they vacuumed the area it did very little in cleaning the aftermath. However, I did speak with Dwayne and Johanne and they did try to make things right. It is a simple fix and would save the home owners a great deal of cleanup with a drop cloth in the future. read more

A bedroom outlet was smoking during my nightly 3 am wakeup! I turned off all electricity, unplugged everything. the smoking stopped...i went back to sleep. Next morning i started calling elctricians....SWITCH got back to me in 30 minutes...the woman told me they would have someone out within the hour...and he arrived in less than an hour. Removed the smoked up outlet, rewired and put in a new outlet. I do not even remember what I was charged....I think $120....well worth it for the correction and the peace of mind. Multiple visits to replace to panels. When they were first replaced we had an issue with poor breaker labeling and messy work. Also had an issue with the oven breaker constantly tripping (didn't trip before replacement). Work was used as a "teaching moment ". Techs came back out to relable the breakers and fix the work previously done so that it looked better. Oven still trips randomly. And I still find pieces of wiring on the ground by the panel. Will have to hire another electrician to fix the over breaker problem. read more

Thankfully, Switch Electric got me off-the-hook for some of it: --Add remotes/wall-switches to 2 fans --Add an outlet in the closet (feed the Dyson) --Convert the CAT5 phone cable from RJ12 to RJ45 & change out some wall-plates so I can make use of the broadband I'm paying for (I'll finish the job with a 1GB switch in the garage - but wait, the nearest outlet is on the wrong wall). --Add some outlets to the garage (who builds a 7 year-old house with 2 outlets in the garage, and within inches of each other ON THE SAME WALL? I know, I'm obsessing about my outlet fetish, but damn, ... just damn!) --Punch a new outside outlet from the new garage outlet. (Here I go again...)
