Dr. Herrera was recommend by my longtime Capitola endodontist. Dr. Herrera's staff is extremely warm and friendly. Every medical detail is addressed. For some reason, my appointment ran 40 minutes late. Normally not a big deal - emergencies happen - but I was thirsty and sleepy. The dental assistant offered me a blanket before the procedure began. The sedation/laughing gas quickly helped me relax. I did not feel the IV needle being placed in my hand. The molar was quickly extracted and one stitch was put in place. I was not nauseous or dizzy at any point during of after the extraction. The caring nurse had me lie down for a brief period and then wheeled me out an exit door to meet my ride. It's now 12 hours post-extraction. Pain medications, ibuprofen, and ice packs are keeping me comfortable. I would recommend Dr. Herrera to my friends and family. read more

I came to see Dr. Andres F. Herrera today . I not an average patient and have bad anxiety due to pervious treatment at a different Dentist office. I was not able to take anything for the anxiety because I got a allergic reaction to the anxiety medication I was given to take mind you we had to reschedule the 1st appointment so this was the 2nd appointment I when in with my anxiety off the roof. The staff was very nice and trying to make me feel better and not think about my anxiety. I was explaining to Dr. Herrera that I had Gastro bypass surgery and I process meds different than other patients. I have seen him in the past and my experience was amazing but this time was a little different. Not sure if Dr.Herrrea was annoyed by the fact my anxiety was off the roof and how fast the medicine was wearing off. I was surprised by the fact that he thought I was lying about feeling pain so fast. I try to explain to him about how I process the medicine differently but he was not having it..... maybe it was a bad day for him! I sure did not like the way he responded to me. I needed a wisdom tooth extracted that had an old, very large silver filling which had additional decay and was not worth saving. I am a very nervous dental patient and require a lot of TLC. My experience having my tooth extracted by Dr. Herrera was so painless I didn't even realize he had begun to remove the tooth when he announced he was finished. I was so relieved the procedure was so quick and absolutely pain free. Dr. Herrera and all of his staff were very kind, patient, and considerate of me and my nervousness. My husband was injured at work and we had to find a doctor that would take worker's comp Ins. Dr.Herrera was the only one in the area that accept worker's comp, which I'm glad because he's a excellent Doctor that shows compassion for his patient. I saw Dr. Herrera for extraction of an upper tooth and later on for the replacement of the same tooth with a dental implant. I'm taking the time to write this review because for starters, I don't like dentist. However, my experience at Dr. Herrera changed the way I see their profession. First of all I have not seen a dental office so well appointed as his, I was used to outdated decorations and old magazines, that going to his office was a breath of fresh air. The day of surgery his staff of receptionists and assistants had all the things ready for me, precriptions called, written instructions, etc. The day of surgery I was very anxious, but Dr. Herrera put me at easy and after he got an I.V. on his first try, I was out. I woke up without pain or discomfort and the surgery was done. My recovery was uneventful and with no pain. Later on Dr. Herrera performed a dental implant to replace the missing tooth (you don't know what you got until is gone!). This time around the procedure was even better in terms of the pain and recovery after surgery, I only took Ibuprofens for pain for the first day. I went into for an emergency extraction for a wisdom tooth that was infected. Dr Herrera was very informative and explained any possible complications. I was very nervous but Dr Herrera and his staff made me feel very comfortable and at ease. I was concerned with side effects of the anesthesia but I was relieved to wake up not feeling one bit nauseous. This was my biggest concern from past experiences with other surgeries. Let me start off by saying the staff from Dr. Herrera's office are amazing. I came to see Dr. Herrera on October 18, 2016 for an emergency extraction of my lower left wisdom tooth since the day before I had went to, what I thought was an oral surgeon and who advertised oral surgeon on their business description and card, but was actually a dentist. This dentist, Dr. Wu, tooth two and a half hours and failed to remove my tooth, but left it chipped, sawed in half, and extremely irritated. Dr. Herrera was extremely thoughtful with the amount of pain I was in and the amount of pain I felt from his numbing shots was 1/5 of what I felt the first time. He was so careful and in total took about 8 minutes to remove my tooth. His staff gave me specific care instructions as well as a shake for the nausea and a list of recommended foods. His offices were both extremely nice and well maintained and the care from Dr. Herrera was unforgettable. I wish I had come here the first time, thank you Dr. Herrera. read more

I needed my wisdom teeth to be removed so my dentist referredme to Dr. Herrera. I heard multiple horror stories from my friends and family saying Dr. Herrera trys to pull a fast one and charges you double or triple the cost, but I didn't know who else to go see. I went to my consultation with him and the staff seemed nice, but when It came down to how much the numbers just didn't make since to what my insurance normally covers. I brought this to their attention and their responds was they contacted my insurance company and that's what is left. So I made the appointment with knowing I could cancel. The next day I called my insurance company to question why was my portion still high. They said they never received anything from this doctors office and was confused on where they got their numbers. My co-worker was listening to my conversation with my insurance company and asked me what dentist was I talking about. I told him Dr. Herrera and he said he has a salinas office and they tried to pull the same thing on him. I then called them and said I would like to cancel my appointment for my wisdom teeth removal. They receptionist asked why and I told her I thought there prices where to high and my insurance thought the same. She said ok I will have my finance manager contact you to go over a breakdown on cost. I never received a phone call and ended up going somewhere else. I ended up getting my wisdom teeth removed by a oral surgeon who knew his shit and my cost was 63% cheaper than Dr. Herrera. I just want everyone to beware. read more

My 15 year old son had his four wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Herrera. He and his staff were professional and there were no complications. However, they did not let me know when the procedure got started nor when my son was in recovery. His appointment was at 9:10am. I went in with my son and stayed with him until the IV was set up then went back to the waiting room and did not get called in until 11:30am. The waiting room is sparse with the same 12 minute loop playing over and over on the TV and a very little selection of magazines that were 4 months old. There was no toilet paper in the one restroom they had. When I went to the recovery room to collect my son, he was obviously still sedated, which is to be expected...but the nurse marched in and nicely but overly quick went over the after procedure instructions, made my son stand up and guided us out to the parking lot and closed the door behind us. I ended up leaning my son against the wall because he was so dizzy he could not stand and ran to my car to drive it over to him. I felt like we were parts in an assembly line. The job got done...but the service is lacking in bedside manner and general courtesy. read more

so first of all i was refer over by my dentist and when he told me i needed my wisdom teeth pulled, i was terrified!!!. When i called to make the appointment the receptionist was really nice and she got me in right away, very professional. Once i came in to my 1st appointment the assisitant were so professional with me and very caring, they knew i was so scared but took care of me. Once i met dr Herrera he was very professional and knew what he was doing. i also met the financial person and she gave me a copy of the treatment plan and explain to me detail by detail on the insurance and told me how much it was going to cost. Fianlly i had my suregery and i felt so confident when i came back becyase i knew i was in great hands . i had no pain at all and the surgery went EXCELLENT!!! i highly recommend dr herrera if i ever need any more treatment im coming back and im referring my friends and family to dr herrera!!!!!!!!! read more

I called Dr. Herrera's office, as he was recommended by my dentist in Santa Cruz, on a Friday morning at 9am because I was in so much pain the night before with a wisdom tooth that needed to be extracted. The receptionist told me I could come in at 9:45am. I got there at 10am and even though the office was very busy they took me in, asked me questions, made sure I was accompanied almost the whole time by Dr. Herreers's wonderful assistant, Marcie and finally numbed me and got the tooth out. I really appreciated that he kept asking me if I felt anything as he started and gave me more novocaine when I said that I did. I was so grateful that they were able to fit me in between other patients and while it was a painful healing process (no one should have to get their wisdom teeth out at age 51!) Dr. Herrera and his staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Even when I needed to ask a question later that night Dr. H. called me back and thoroughly answered all of my questions. I will definitely go back to Dr. H. should I need any other oral surgery (but I hope not:). read more
