I worked with Hertz LE up on Capital Blvd due to an accident with my Mazda. As a State Farm preferred vendor, it was an easy choice but overall I was impressed with their customer service and representatives. The details of the contract were very well explained and reviewed before signing. And while they were busy, things moved along quickly for both picking up and returning my Chevy Malibu. While it would be nice to have more vehicle choices, that's pretty much par for the course for a Hertz HLE. So overall, good experience and I would certainly rent from them again. They even had a car service to where you might need to go which was nice. read more

I made a rental car reservation here weeks in advance to make sure I got a reasonable rate and could plan my vacation around that reservation. When I arrived at my reservation time I was informed that there were no cars to give me. This was not a case of one person keeping a car long or breaking down, as about half a dozen other people were also there in the lobby with the exact same problem- reservations but no cars. The staff insisted that a reservation doesn't actually mean anything and that they allow many more reservations than they have cars available and it just "holds the price in case there happens to be a car available at that time." (And yet they charge a $50 cancellation fee to the customer if your plans change) We were told that there was nothing for us to do except go to another location and see if they had a car for us- they couldn't call ahead and check because they "don't have their number." I was given a small credit voucher and promised that the other location would honor my booking rate, however that was completely false. After an expensive Uber to that other location, I was finally given a car but at a much higher rate- the difference exceeded the amount of the voucher I was given, not to mention the cost of the Ubers and the vacation plans I had to cancel while I got this sorted out. To top it all off, this original location STILL CHARGED ME!! I never got a refund for the prepayment on the car I didn't receive and got charged by the other location on top of that. So now that I'm home from vacation I have to make a claim with my credit card company for a fraudulent charge. Overall, the staff were incompetent, the logistics were a mess and there is clearly zero communication between corporate and individual branches. Given that making a reservation doesn't actually reserve a car, don't bother and go to a place that actually wants your business. read more

Insurance made an open reservation on 10/26. I confirmed on 11/6 that I would be picking up the car on 11/10. Pull up at 3:15 and was told that there were no cars but that they had 2 coming. An hour and a half later... no cars but they had a return to put me in. I drive a Toyota Camry and the gave me a Toyota Corolla with dents and THE MAINTENANCE light is on. This is just bad customer service. An hour and a half wait and I didn't even get anything remotely comparable. My insurance company arranged for my rental here while my vehicle was being repaired. I went over there a couple of weeks before the repair appointment to reserve my vehicle. On the day of my rental, they were at the repair facility at the designated time to take me to their office. When I returned the vehicle, the paperwork process and ride to the repair facility so I could pick up my car went well. The drivers to and from Hertz were polite and enjoyed our conversations. The agents at Hertz were always busy, and while efficient, were not particularly friendly. The Hertz desks for the agents are strangely designed so that the agents are seated, but there is no desk seating for clients as the paperwork process is done. The vehicle I rented was fine. It was a different brand than my vehicle, and made me appreciate my vehicle even more. read more

I booked my rental with points, but when I checked out the rental they asked for a credit card just in case any charges were needed to be made upon return. They then charged me an extra $242 that I didn't agree too. I've tried calling the central office, they said it looks like I agreed to these charges but offered to refund me $50, not the entire amount. They said I needed to call the location I got the rental from, but the location never answers the phone and the main branch has no other way of getting ahold of the Raleigh branch. So I am left paying for something I NEVER agreed to and no one will help me. So frustrating read more

Dump. In a yellow box. Attitudes from down under. Utterly shocked & more or less enraged that individuals could lack such skills in communication. I used Hertz rental as a supplement as my car was repaired by an auto body place. They were inconvenienced that we even warranted a conversation. From pick up to drop off it was a mess. The saving grace to warrant a second start was the manager who saved the drop off. Last name was Patel; can't remember his first. Because we had to wait an additional day he was understanding and let the drop off be picked up by my insurance. Day one of drop off: we called 3 hours ahead & were told someone would take us and drop us off at the collision place- 15 minutes away. He arrive and the employee said we would have to call an Uber!!!! Part of your services that you offer are "we'll pick you up!". This is insane. We called to verify and advise we were on the way. And we need to get an Uber? There were multiple failures during this experience. Thankful that day two of drop off was handled marginally better by the manger on duty. read more

Worst Hertz I have ever been to. The service was fine, but man did they give me a dog of a car. I spend a lot of time in rental cars, so I have driven everything so it is not about whether I am in a luxury sedan, or they are running low and put me in a minivan or work truck - I'm flexible like that. The car should be nice...a late model Ford Taurus. However, this car had bald tires and the interior looked like it had been used for multiple frat parties. It also had the terrible aroma of extreme cleaning (probably to scrub out the vomit) and air fresheners. If I didn't need a car desperately for a last minute work gig, I would definitely have gone somewhere else. read more

As I have mentioned in previous Hertz reviews from various locations.. I rent from Hertz exclusively and most often receive very good service... This location is not any different. I have two complaints at this location.. 1) Most of the cars smell like an ashtray 2) They dont open early enough for people taking the first flights out.... I rented a car from Hertz in PHL. Dropped it off in NJ. When I got there, they ran out of cars. They then gave me a larger SUV and did not comp me for the price difference. I went to drop the car off and they gave me not 1 but 2 wrong locations that no longer existed. I was then charged $1,800. I would never get a car from them again. read more

I thought I had done my shopping around. I thought I had a great deal and Hertz even told me they'd take 10% off the price to bring it to what Enterprise wanted for a 3 day rental. However, when I got to Hertz to pick the car up, I found out that it did not have cruise control (I was about to take an 1800 mile round trip vacation), there was a price discrepancy (only by $5 from what we had previously discussed, but it was still something), and the customer service was awful. The customer service representative had already run my debit card (Hertz also cannot figure out, and I don't know if it is all locations or just this one, how to put the deposit on one card, i.e. a credit card, and the actual charges on another card. Small, but annoying) when I excused myself and called Enterprise from the parking lot. Enterprise offered me an upgrade, comparable pricing, and even waived that pesky underage fee those of us under 25 must suffer. After having wasted 45 minutes at Hertz (there was NO ONE in front of me, but it still took the agent forever to process me), I left, went to Enterprise and was driving away with a car with cruise control in under 10 minutes. I have had good experiences with Hertz in the past, but have dealt with this particular location on multiple occasions and have always had problems. read more

This location is allright. It's not on airport so you have to take a shuttle which takes about 5 mins, plus the wait. There also not gas by the rental car place, you have to get off of I-40 going the opposite direction from the airport and go a few blocks. Otherwise, no problems though. read more

Worst experience I ever had in my life. Late flight 11 PM picking up a car, and asked to show return flight ticket due to reservation made on debit card. I did not have one. Did not get car had to return to airport and take taxi to hotel. Money still on hold and they say it will take couple weeks to return my money for service they did not provide. Hertz rental counter employee did not inform my son of the total rental cost before running his debit card through the card reader. Since the total cost was over $300 dollars more the quoted rental price, his card did not have sufficient funds to cover it. The rules at the Hertz counter at Raleigh-Durham International airport state that he could not use the card for 24 hours even if sufficient funds were added. They don't never have the car that is reserved, they dont care about about their customers time or being inconvenienced and their excuse is this is a busy location. Gold member, I rented a car for about $1000 to drive from NC to MO. Worst experience in EVERY way. Had a terrible time setting up the reservation for a certain 4WD vehicle. When I tried to call RDU Hertz to confirm which car I was getting, no one ever answers the phone (like hundreds of rings, 10 different days). When I call their national line, they say they'll connect you to Raleigh, but put you on hold and then hang up on you after holding 15 min (over and over again). The people on the national line are never sure about the configuration of the car (tried like 10 different people on 10 different days). When I got the car, workers at RDU super rude, 75% of them were playing on their cell phone instead of helping customers. Car seemed good, but of course the engine light came on as I drove over the mountains and I had to trade in the car in TN. Lots of lovely unexpected charges for me, even though it was their car that broke down and inconvenienced me. To top it all off, they billed me the total bill twice, and it's now been more than 10 working days and they can't manage to credit my card for the overbilling, even though they said they would credit me back on 11/28 and it's now 12/14 and still no credit. Super fraudulent company - I would advise everyone not to do business with Hertz. There were a few nice Hertz employees that helped me in Nashville and St Louis, but for the most part, this was a disaster. read more

I rent cars from here on a consistent weekly basis. I haven't had any problems from any of the staff as of yet so I hope they keep it like this. They have a good amount of cars that you can choose from and some are relatively new but you have to watch out because some of them are EXTREMELY old. When I get there they deny me the car and denied a refund up front said I would have to call keeping my vacation money. 3 week later i still havnt got my refund. I dont know how this is even legal. Worst customer service! I ended up living and went next door. When I got there I was not greeted, I normally wouldn't mind. However a lady that came after me was greeted and was help her right away, even though I was there waiting for about 10-15 min before her. A second man walk-in and was greeted and help right away as well. So I grabbed my kids and left. I rather give someone else more money. P.s I'm not a picky customer. First of all, love Liberty Mutual as my "everything" insurance carrier. I've always used Enterprise in the past & this is the second time ever using Hertz. I did not want to be without a vehicle the weekend and Enterprise at the time (mid Friday afternoon) only had pick-ups ready, Liberty Mutual wanted to know if I'd interested in going with Hertz. I agreed, expecting the same high integrity and this just wasn't fun at the Hertz site. The guy was nice, polite . . . but very businesslike, cold even the entire conversation. Maybe I've grown up to be the "proper Southern codger" where simple common courtesies extended go a very long way. He wanted credit card for a "deposit" that the rental would be returned in the same condition as I left with it. He verbally told me that my credit card would not be drafted but "kept on file" for any charges for damages upon the return inspection. Next thing I know, my phone notifies me that my Visa "HAD" been drafted the deposit. So now, they're making interest on my deposit and I'm paying a finance service charge to my bank also, after he just told me he would not! Lesson learned, stay with a company you're already familiar with and that didn't give me a reason to look elsewhere to begin with. The car was excellent and so was the service I received in the office at the airport. However, when I returned the car, there was a problem about returning my pre-authorization deposit of $200. I'm still waiting 10 days later. I called the corporate offices and spoke to someone named Ashley or Amber who didn't seem too pleased to hear from me who stated that she would get my refund on it's way and took the phone number of my bank here in Raleigh. Nevertheless, I'm still waiting and not happy about that at all. Enterprise, though more expensive, never gave me this problem. I just discovered that it was actually my bank, Woodforest. They had some kind of lack of communication that didn't allow my funds to be released until I complained enough about it. I think it's time to start banking with someone else. read more

Worst customer service ever experienced at a rental car company. There weren't enough employees on site to handle the customers so it was a long wait to be helped. Then they didn't have any mid size cars to offer anyone. Everyone was given the option to take a compact car or wait til a mid size happened to show up. I was told I could take a compact and bring it back later that day to swap it for the mid size. So, needing to get to work, I took the compact with the intention to bring it back later in the day. I tried calling several times later to verify that they did have a mid size on the lot but I either get put on perpetual hold or nobody answered the phone. Very poor service overall. read more

This experience with renting from Hertz in Raleigh, NC was not pleasant. Initially the booking for Raleigh-Durham Airport but due not having a credit card and flying out of the same airport I wasn't able to rent there. The price quoted was $649 which was expected to be honored at the location on Capital Boulevard. However, I was quoted at $1,600 for renting from the 28th of March to 10th of April and that was the compact car price. I ended up renting from the 28th to the 30th of March at $207.99 with the $200 deposit. Only to drive to Goldsboro, NC to get quoted $340 from the 30th to 7th April. I normally do not write reviews, but when the price jumps up an extra thousand dollars for a compact car, this needs to be said. Especially for a compact car. I hope this review is an effective one for anyone else that rents from there. I definitely recommend not renting from this location. You will be paying higher at this location than any other Hertz location. read more

She purchased the insurance that Hertz offered her but i has been horrific to say the least trying to get Hertz to even answer the phone. This was the worse experience of customer service I have ever experienced. The reservation was made fifteen days in advance by the insurance company and I called two times that morning to confirm my pick up time at the body shop. The pickup was 45 mins late (no fault of his own--HE was the best part of the company and the only honest employee there!!) He informed me they had just told him 15 mins prior to my pickup that his services were needed. Upon arriving at the facility, there was NO ONE in the office with five other customers waiting. Being as it was on my lunch hour from work, I inquired by having to knock on a closed door which was not answered and I had to open myself only to be told he "was with a customer"! I then found the only two people there outback washing cars while customers waited (unhelped) in the lobby! I then called the insurance company which greatly changed the rental reservation to a an AWESOME service center--ENTERPRISE, right next door! They had me in and out in under 20 mins with a 2016 model with only 15k miles! AMAZING service next door--NEVER will I use HERTZ!! I later called the place to get the manger I was hung up on twice when giving my name AND my insurance company called 3 times after canceling the reservation, still have not received a return call!. I have ALWAYS received Gracious, Professional service at the Hertz Rental Ofc on Capital Blvd!! I am a customer from California, my daughter lives in Raleigh, NC. When I fly into RDU, I prefer to pick up my car from the Hertz on Capital Blvd BECAUSE of the Great friendly service I receive there! I will NOT pickup a car from the RDU Airport! I ESPECIALLY want to thank KATRINA MCGEE who is the location Manager for this Hertz ofc. This girl ALWAYS goes Above and Beyond to make sure that you have been well taken care of, that you are satisfied with your rental and will always do her BEST to make sure that everything has been satisfactory for her customers. This ofc has many new great cars! I have NEVER had a problem at this location. I DO rent cars often when I'm at home in California to drive to Las Vegas for the weekend, so I don't put that mileage on my Hummer H2. Don't rent here! I rented a car here (capital blvd location)because it was close to my house. Won't rent here again. First off the car smelled and was very dusty inside. I don't believe they clean them after each customer. People working there dont seem to really care, same type of people you'll find working at your local walmart. Should of known better, shopping center was a bit sketchy. Paid hertz for a full tank of gas, had a quarter tank less then full. When I called I was told if I bring the car back with the same amount of gas I would receive a full credit. Spoke with Sheranda. Filled the tank back up and took the car back and was told they couldn't give me a credit. The girl told me the manager Larry would be back in half an hour and I could wait for him. I told her to have him call me. Over an hour later I didn't get a call so I called. She told me he just left. Guess I'll call my credit card and have them file the dispute. read more
