Rented a car through priceline, then wanted to extend for an additional 3 days. Price for a mid-sized car for 60 dollars listed, ended up being 138 dollars per day after extending and only paying for minimum insurance and not comprehensive. So all in all the additional costs seem to be double the price of the vehicle. The bill and cost breakdown are hard to understand. I will be working directly with another car rental company in the future, and try to get insurance protection through my regular car insurance company as that seems to be the chief culprit for the very large increase in price. read more

I rented a car for uber and they didn't put the vehicle into my profile like they were supposed to rendering the vehicle useless for what it was intended for in the first place I had the car unable to drive for uber for 6 days and they didn't post it into my profile until the second to last day of the return date in my app and they are still trying to charge me for the full week I'm disputing this with my bank on top of that they tried charging me $310 before insurance and protection for a chevy bolt which is the the luxury EV6 kia price ridiculously unorganized and unprofessional the Lady that helped me if you even wanna call it that was Gale. read more

I have been renting cars from this location for over 3 1/2 years. I utilize them for business travel when I stay inside the state. In the 3 1/2 years I've been using them I have always received top-notch customer service, have never received a vehicle with any issues, and I have always felt like a valued customer. If I could rate a '0' I would. My reservation was for 6PM. I got there EXACTLY at 6PM. I told the clerk I had a reservation and he told me they were closed. I WAS STANDING INSIDE THEIR BUILDING. Unbelievable overcharging. Run to any other car rental company as fast as you can. I rented a Small suv for 2 days at an advertised price of $45 per day plus tax. 2 days passed and I turned in the keys. $282 was charged to my card. Should have been just a little bit over $100. Rented a mini van and the customer service was great a pick up. While driving the van we discovered the breaks needed attention. While driving on the highway we discovered the brakes were not good. They were shaking the steering wheel while trying to slow down. Renting a van with 50,000 miles on it, you would think the brakes would have been checked. Pretty scary that they would rent a car that was pretty unsafe in my opinion. read more

Bad, very bad. Not only did it take over a half hour to bring the car around they charged me for something they did not include that I did not ask for. I got charged for satellite radio. So okay that is one thing if I got it even when i did not ask for it but the car did not even have it.... So I called their billing and he was unable to do anything after 12 minutes of talking about what the problem was. Seriously, it doesn't make a neuroscientist to figure this out, a toddler understands. So then he said email customerrelations@hertz.com and I should get a response within 24 hours. That was 12/13/2019 and today 12/26/2019 they replied. So 12 days and 24 hours later they contact me saying everything was fine. This is with a photo of the car showing satellite not hooked up and my rental prepaid agreement where I did not ask for the service. if you rent a lot of cars at the airports like I do, don't expect to go into this place and get in and out quickly, nor expect to get what you reserved, nor a nice clean car. I have had 2 terrible experiences here. They bait and switch you online. You rent for a certain time period but then they don't have a drop box, so they try and get another day out of you. Don't take it, demand you get what you rented and a manager should honor it. After waiting in line for 25 min. With only 1 person in front of me, while listening to Co workers yuck it up in the back, they gave me the spiel about not smoking in the car. I go get in my car and it reeks of smoke (my first experience was the same with smoke and an unclean car), I have been in three out of four cars at this lot and they're all horribly inundated with smoke. I tried to take the car regardless, because I was told they did not have any more cars, I made it five minutes down the road and had a splitting headache. We returned the car and made other plans. This location is unprofessional and great places customer service. I attempted to rent a vehicle and the price I reserved tripled once I arrived to pick up the car. Ally at the counter was unable to clearly explain the reason and was very rude and unprofessional. This is the second incident I've had. A month ago I was called an hour prior to me picking up the car and was told the location not have inventory. The location is dirty and not well kept much like the staff I've felt with. This Hertz location is a joke. They charged my credit card without authorization... asked why ..I got the basic response of " it must have been fuel" . I told him I filled up and left the receipt in the car. Then started on well" we assumed your insurance covered 25 dollars a day....WHY WOULD YOU ASSUME. The Hertz lady that met me told me it was COMPLETELY covered by my insurance. The branch manager Mark told me I have an attitude problem....apparently I'm not allowed to be mad that they lied to me and charged my credit card without authorization....certainly not stellar Customer Service. After PREPAYING for a car to go on vacation with, this Hertz office called me at 10:34am on a Saturday to tell me they had no more cars. If you know car rentals, you know that everywhere closes at noon. We were leaving LATER THAT DAY for vacation. We were almost there, so we kept going anyway. We walked in the door to a short line of people. The guy at the counter asked us if we were picking up and we said we were. He said, unapologetically, that the guy in front of us was getting their last car. I thought they had already given away their last car. Now they have another last car to give away? We told him we were prepaid. He said it didn't matter and told us we could go to the airport 40 minutes away. Again, no apologies or anything. Just "you can go to the airport if you want." So we went to the airport. The guys behind the Hertz counter seemed nice enough, but when we told them we were sent by the other guy, they looked at each other and said, "We already called him and told him to stop sending us people because we don't have anything else left either." Long story short, we dealt with a very nice young lady at the car rental place a few feet away that starts with an E and ends with terprise. She bent over backward to get us a car and even match the Hertz prepaid rate for an upgraded car. I can't say enough great things about her. Hertz? They should spell it Hurtz, because that's what you're going to do if you rely on this office. We're not going back. Bad company. No customer service. Rude employees. Oh, and it took a month and numerous phone calls to get my prepaid cash back. Not good at all. If I could go less than one star, I would. Avoid Hertz. read more

Hertz is horrible! We tried Britain Rd a few times #epic fail. Then we tried Market St #eveyone needs to be fired because the are idiots. I even called corporate office to fix my issue and was told they would research and call me back. Do you think that they did? No, because that would be too much like doing the right thing. Then you have these people from social media with Hertz who respond as if they want to be helpful but then they stop responding to messages. Not once has anyone apologized or even contacted us to make sure our issue was resolved. Don't rent from #Hertz! I have a tripped planned for today to DC from Ohio, and called to arrange for a pickup (which I had already signed up for online). When I called they said they could make it between 10-10:30am, I said "okay, are you sure you can't make it earlier?" They said "yes, we are too busy." Then, I asked them for their corporate customer service number and they wouldn't give it to me without me telling them why and I just said "general customer service." They then proceeded to tell me, "if I was going to play it that way - they are too busy to pick me up at all." Even more shocking, I called customer service and they were indifferent and kept asking me "why I couldnt pick up the car from the location?" Horrible. Would go with zero stars if I could. Prepaid for a car for vacation. After arriving at the location, we were asked if we were picking up, said yes, and were told the guy behind us in line "was here first and is getting the last car." We asked, "Even with a prepaid reservation?" The smug guy behind the desk said, "Yep. You'll have to go to the airport." No "Sorry." No reason for it. Just "You'll have to go to the airport." So we went to the airport...and they said they had no cars available either...and that they had told the other guy to quit sending people there. Luckily, Enterprise was able to work some magic for us, upgraded us to an SUV, and matched Hertz's price. Wow. Should have gone with them in the first place. Excellent customer service and plenty of vehicles to chose from. One down side is i requested pick up service which was on my copy of the rental online. When I called the local Hertz to find out when they were picking me up they said they did not have pick up service on the reservation. I then had to drive directly there with my personal car and had to wait 30 min to get my rental. I drove the rental home then waited for my othet half to get home to go back and get my personal car. On September 23rd 2011 I rented a car from Hertz, the car was returned on October 11th 2011. I gave the company my credit card number associated with my checking account on the original rental date and was to be charged $1,023.94 upon return of the vehicle on October 11th. I spoke with a representative named Nate from the Akron Ohio location on Brittain Rd. a few days prior to returning the vehicle and confirmed the card number to be charged. On December 30 2011 my account was charged $500.00. That charge was removed by Hertz a few days later. On January 3rd 2012 Hertz charged my account $1,119.41. Then, on January 5th 2012 they charged my account again for $1,062.52. Neither of the charges are the correct amount, as I was to be charged $1,023.94, not to mention I was charged double. These charges took nearly three months for Hertz to put through, for which no one has an explanation as to why it took an inappropriate amount of time. The two incorrect amounts that were charged also have no explanation for how they were come up with. Due to the three month delay in collection and the double charge to my account, I am now negative $821.83. My account has been frozen by my bank due to the dispute and I am unable to access any funds via card, nor can I send any vital checks such as my rent, car loan, or student loan because they will bounce. I spoke with the representative Nate on January 6th when I discovered these charges, he recognized the mistake and has agreed to refund me $1,158.91 to make up for the amount overcharged, however they stated that this will take them 21 days to do so, leaving my account negative for three weeks. I then called corporate to complain about the length of time for my refund, the first representative I spoke with interrupted me, yelled at me, and then hung up on me. I called back again and spoke to someone else and was told that there was no possible way to speed this along, when asked to be compensated for the inconvenience I was told the only thing they could do is give me money off towards another rental. All in all, do not rent a car from Hertz. They are extremely unprofessional. The location and corporate just point fingers at each other as to who is responsible for giving my money back. I have been yelled at and treated as an inconvenience over and over. read more

Ah to be in charge of the Hertz car rental counter. Got into the place at 8:30 in a long line of people. They kept answering the phones while waiting on people. When we got up to the desk, they wouldn't let us do the paperwork because the reservation was at 9. Place clears out and we are still waiting. At nine on the dot they call us. Guy is nice as anything (seriously really nice guy), but continues answering the phone while processing the rental. Great way to start a 7 hour drive. read more

Rented a car from Hertz on line, but when I went to Shaw, they did a bait and switch. Did not have the size car I reserved, so they gave me different car at a different rate. When I called to try and resolve, they forwarded me to a completely different number (330-630-3356) which i found was Hertz of Akron. I spoke with "Nate" three times. the Britain road location was horrible! the experience is something i never want to deal with again. no order, long wait time, whats the purpose of doing it online and then when you arrive they still have to go into the system, they take calls in front of you, making you wait. no customer service, it seemed like a circus. one of the guys keyed in the wrong amount causing my card to be decline and then i contacted the bank and they said he inputted the wrong amount, i was frustrated coming and leaving, i will never go back to that location, I'll just have to drive to the Airport.
