Reserved a Nissan Pathfinder or similar on a Thursday for a trip to New Orleans on a Friday and ended up with a Toyota Highlander, it had no third row and very little trunk space and smelled like cigarettes. It was the largest vehicle they had at the time. After trying to wait for an hour for a bigger vehicle to become available, I asked if any would be available early Friday morning. Ms. Marilyn asked me to come back at 5:00 AM, luckily I get up at 4am most days so I was used to the ungodly hour. The next morning I arrived and was put into a beautiful Ford Expedition. Thanks to my patience and Ms. Marilyn we had an amazing trip and I'll be signing up to be a Hertz Gold Member so I can be ready for my next adventure. Then when it came time to return the car, they never released the holds on my accounts. They had the nerve to blame my bank account as if my bank is the one who put the charges there. SMH. To make it worse they did multiple charges on my account. I almost overdraft like four times. It's been weeks since I returned the car and it's still on there. And after calling and asking for a manager, they blocked my number. I should have just went to enterprise. I am not happy my Hertz experience and won't recommend them to anyone. Hertz should invest time into training their associates on making all rental charges clear to customers. The day I came to pick up a reserved rental, there was a long line of customers and some had been waiting for an hour. The employee said they were having system issues. The employee kept having a hard time processing my rental to which I waited two hours as she tried to get it right and made several calls to get assistance. I kept asking if I could go to another location, but she kept saying it was almost ready. Finally, after two and a half hours, I left Hertz with a suggested upgrade by the associate from my original reservation. After driving 10 min away, I looked at the charges and turned around to return the vehicle because daily upgrade and toll fees weren't made clear, and I could not pay the add-ons. I was under the impression it would be one-time charge. I was charged 94.67 for leaving the lot even though I didn't keep the vehicle more than 30 minutes, and don't believe this is fair because I wasn't communicated with clearly about the total charges. I left and decided to rent elsewhere. If it's policy that a customer be charged for leaving the lot, there should have been some leniency in this case since these charges were not made clear to me and I was inconvenienced for two hours but I was so patient that even the associate kept thanking me for not being upset about the wait. Showing leniency for a customer who has shown patience for your issues and bad customer service would go far in retaining customers. read more

Save yourself the hassle and go to the airport to pick up a car so that you don't have to talk to any one. I showed up on a Friday half an hour before my pick up time. There were three people there before me and one told me before me they had been there two hours waiting on a car. We asked the employee how long it would be and she made no effort to give us even guess of how long it would be. Finally the manager showed backed up and started helping people. We waited a long time for him to get us through the process. We were now approaching an hour. After he got our car out, he drove it to the back of the lot and was gone for a good 15 minutes. After he came back it was clear that he attempted to wash the car but it was rather filthy inside when we got it. Then the manager proceeded to wage our time by taking copious pictures of the car while looking for dents. Again something they don't do at the airport. The manager told us he would give us a discount on our rental since we had to wait so long. That never happened though. After I left the lot, I got down the corner only to discover that the fuel light was on yet they marked my car as having a full tank. I immediately took a picture of the fuel level and mileage. Luckily when I turned the car back in they didn't charge me to fill the tank. If considering a car here, save yourself the trouble and drive to the airport. This is for the Arlington location at Vandergriff Toyota. Receptionists were venting their feelings about someone in the front of the building using explicit language. It was very uncomfortable but I thought they were disgruntled customers, so it was even more embarrassing when I saw that they were employees. The receptionists were working very slowly with little urgency to help customers. Standing on their phones while I waited at the desk to be helped. They also continuously stopped assisting customers to complain to each other and threaten to "walk out if SHE comes back". Overall very uncomfortable and poor service. read more

When brought to the attention of the corporate office, the response back from corporate customer relations had absolutely nothing to do with my complaint and looked like a standard form apology. This is completely unacceptable and this business doesn't deserve my money. I suggest everyone not renting from hertz. The customer service is atrocious and not worth anything. From now on, I'm renting from Avis What I emailed to Hertz corporate customer relations: I picked up a rental at 233 N Central Expressway in Richardson, TX on August 23, 2023. I was told that my car would be hooked up to my Uber app so I could start working. This is my first experience with Uber and no one has taught me anything. I called Uber help desk and they said that Hertz owed them some information on the vehicle I received and that I wouldn't be able to work until that happened. I went to the location this morning and got told to sign out of the app and back in. That is information I should have received yesterday. I told the agent that the lack of communication on their part costed me a day's wages and half a tank of gas that I have to pay for. I was told that I would get no concessions whatsoever. This is completely unacceptable. I'm not an employee for Hertz, I am a paying customer. I paid $354 to rent a car and I deserve to be treated like any other customer that pays that much. The level of customer service I received at this location felt like I paid $0 and that I was a burden on the company. If that's how Hertz feels, that's fine. The vehicle wasn't clean, the tank was not full making it hard to get to the right level upon return, therefore I lost money due to overfilled car upon return and no reimbursement on fuel. The attendant was unavailable during the hours listed for opening of 8 a.m. and did not come until 15 minutes after 9 a.m. and when he unlocked the door no apology just went into "how can I help you" and preceded to state I don't have the car you ordered (Nissan Rogue but I have a Malibu). I stated you just drove up in a Rogue and the assistant stated, yeah but I have that for a customer requesting an even larger vehicle. He stated you can go on your trip and see if another location may have the small SUV you need. I stated "No I want the one you have here. "After much back and forth the agent finally gave in. Also, with a credit card had to leave a $200 deposit. Inside the car was filthy and looked on the seat as if someone had sex in the seat. There was splatter on the driver's door. I had to go home and put on gloves and clean out the car prior to taking my trip. I took a bath and changed clothes because I was unsure what I had been exposed to. While on the trip it began to rain and when I turned on the windshield wipers the passenger side blade immediately popped off and frightened me. I had to locate an Auto Zone and purchase a new blade and have the attendant place on for us since there were 4 females in the vehicle and did not know how to place this on properly. This by far was the worse rental car experience I have had in my entire life at age 66 this was awful. Since I am a AAA and AARP Member, I plan to let them, and all of my social platforms know of this experience. This location online shows 812 Peach Street, Arlington, TX 76011. However, when you drive up the building has a Collins Street address on the building with a couple of cars on the lot with dents in them. I was afraid I would be provided with a dented type of car and the rest of the lot looked abandoned. This location not to far from AT&T Stadium is a bad representation of the area for people visiting the city for events. **important to do a walk around** The first time I rented, I did not do a walk around not was prompted to with their outbound processes. They simply gave me a car number slot where the key was in the cars ignition and checked my ID at the exit gate. Upon returning after what was an uneventful trip (i.e. No weird happenings with the car), they reported that I caused damage on the cars rear bumper. My companion and I recall nothing where this would have happened. I was forced to sign the paperwork and was told that in my comment, I can state how I did not cause the damage and that they would investigate. Without reporting to me what they found on investigation, they charged my cc $250. When I rented a second time from here, I was scheduled to return the car at 1pm. I was a minute late and they tried to charge me $20 extra without alerting me of this. It wasn't until I noticed the discrepancy that anything was said. While I was at the counter, the same thing that had happened to me on the first rental had happened to another lady and her companion. Arlington, Tx. on Peach St. They gave me a car with a low tire pressure light on. Angel turned on the car while standing outside the car and I was standing beside him, so I didn't see. When I got in, I didn't notice right away as I was concentrating on getting to the hospital where my 90 yr old mother was staying. When I did notice, I had to air up the tires 3 times before my insurance said my old car was totaled. Although I called and asked for solutions, they said I should have bought a 12 dollar tire waiver, so it was my problem. read more

I should have read about this place before I booked a reservation with them. I get a discount with my company and thought this was the best deal. TOTALLY WRONG! Not very attentive staff. Looks like a run down warehouse. When we got the car after driving it for literally 2 mins, the car signals us to put air in the tires. I called them so they could come and assist us since they gave us a car with no air. We ended up going back and the girl who attended to us was like oh what's wrong. This place was pretty terrible. First of all, the address listed on this site and Google are no longer valid and the phone number does not work. Things started off pretty well when I first picked up the vehicle. The woman who filled my reservation was very nice and helpful. That was pretty much where the positives stopped for this place. During the rental period, the car was towed in Houston. When I attempted to get the car released I was unable to do so because the rental agreement was not filled out in full. I attempted to call Hertz roadside assistance which would not give me any information and forced me to call this location which did not open until the next morning. When I finally got a hold of someone in the office (After finding the number on the Hertz website and calling FIVE times) the woman on the line was less than helpful. She would not work with me to get a completed version of the rental agreement so I could get the vehicle back. After going back and forth with the attendant and Hertz Corporate, I was able to get the car back. When I finally returned the car, only one person was helping customers. The other woman was sitting on the phone returning missed phone messages (so apparently I was not the only one not getting my call answered) and she never came out to assist anyone. I waited approximately 20 minutes to finally speak with someone while a line of about four people behind me were complaining about no one being around to help them pick up their rentals. I would never go here again or even recommend it. The only reason I'm not giving this a one star is because of how friendly the attendant was when I first arrived to pick the vehicle up. read more

Scam Artists! They told me there was a deposit of $28 and an optional insurance which I declined and they charged me for anyways. They didn't fill out the rental form all the way and gave me no total. THEY CHARGED ME $500!!! And then when I called they told me to get my insurance to pay for it. I am LIVID. I had no problems with renting a car from them. I rented it at this location and returned it back to Missouri. I waited for one person ahead of me, the were detailed in explaining everything. I had called a week before to confirm they had me in there system and the location was correct. Would use them again. I've rented here a good handful of times as I travel for work. I mostly rent out of airport locations- where they are fast, efficient, and basically AMAZING! Start to finish in an airport (being President's Circle) is about 3 minutes. HERE however- is the COMPLETE opposite. Staff is extremely SLOW and does not know what is going on half the time. Management has bad customer service as well. I think they're used to serving the general public with auto body/ insurance claims and not the business class. I hate traveling in my home territory, knowing I'll have to end up getting a rental from THIS location. Tempted to just grab a car from DFW airport to avoid this ghetto ass store. :/ WAIT TIMES, even with a reservation can take up to 20 minutes- returns as well... Traveler beware. read more

I do not recommend it at all! Please, read all other comments before booking with them or Hertz in general! It all started from not giving me any rental paper work to drive with me ( every rental compancy should give you the rental agreement, i was unaware of this since it was my fiest time renting) to not giving me my refund because it supposably reported the gas tank was on empty and it was returned late. Going on my third week and I am still fighting for my return. Three to seven day refund has ended to be more like a 15 day refund!! Finally, I am waiting for 3-5 more days!! Terrible terrible terrible. Slow, nonchalant customer service. The worst issue I had was with the tires. I had to trade out my car three times because the low tire light kept on coming on. I witnessed them going from tire to tire and adding air until the light turned off. And actually when we checked the tire pressure with a gauge, several of the tires were overinflated. And they never addressed the issue for why the low-tire light was coming on within 24 hours of filling them up. Driving on tires with low air, a slow leak, or overinflation is extremely dangerous. Industrial park way out of the way location, They don't return phone calls or have any computers operating. The car I was given we did a run through of all the chips of paint and previous damage. They did not inspect the inside. OMG!!! Dog hair all over the backseat! I was so embarrassed. I went back in and told them to add that to the inspection. They didn't, I got there to return the vehicle and not even acknowledging that I had walked in. It took Fifteen minutes before they said they would be with me. Granted the radio is on, a Christian Evangelical station. My suggestion keep the radio on something neutral. Not all customers want to hear that. When they finally got to me they asked me about the dog hair. I told them I was just in here two days ago to rent the car, I told you about the dog hair, your staff did not clean the car before you rented it to me. I am not paying for that. Texting & Driving Drivers here at Hertz! Stay away from this place! I had the WORST experience here! It starts as soon as you walk through the front door. You receive no greeting, not even a glance your way. I felt as if I was taking her time, I heard her answer the phone and her name started with an "A".. But since she never even introduced herself, I am not sure of her name. I receive a rental that "they" choose for me. I was not given any type of options. Went out to the rental to do the inspection and the car was disgusting! First off it had dings and scratches all on the outside, and the inside looked as if someone used the car for 2 months without a wash. Completely disgusting. I sit in the rental that smelled horrendous trying to convince myself to drive off... I just couldn't. I went inside and the lady that helped me was gone. I told a gentleman that I simply could not drive that car. He helped and gave me a clean rental after that. He apologized and was nice about the situation. I brought the rental back 4 days later.. This time I was greeted by a lady outside. She takes my keys and has a man inspect it. I then tell her I need a ride to the collision center to pick up my car.. And I get this young lady that is obviously not excited about driving my daughter and I. They whole way there she is TEXTING AND DRIVING!! We were at a red light and because she is texting, she does not know she has a green light. The cars had to honk at her for her to start moving! I didn't say anything because I figured that after that she would get the hint.. But, nope she sure didn't. She then drops us off on the side of the business instead of up front. Which at this point I didn't care, I needed to get out of that vehicle before I screamed. I ask her for her name, which was Brittney. I call the Hertz office and tell them what happened. The first car they gave me was not clean. The second car they gave me was not clean. So I had to wait even longer. ZERO STARS! This was by far the most unprofessional place I have ever visited. Not just for auto rentals but for ANYTHING. The office was a dirty disgusting mess to start off with. They didn't have computers set up so my contract was hand written and the woman didn't even complete it! She literally left all of the financial information blank. She said nothing to me about a deposit so of course didn't mention how the deposit would be returned. I rented on a Saturday and they were busy so she rushed me the entire time including through the inspection. When I asked her what Hertz considered general wear and tear and what they considered damage caused by the driver she said "you tell me". Uh, no! What is your policy!! I HAD to have the car so I took it. The mess of an office didn't even charge me until Monday! Two days later. That's when I say the deposit. I was on a budget and was left 400 miles from my destination with no gas or money and no one would help me. I was told by the original office and by Hertz corporate that when I turned the car in that evening I would receive the deposit back. After I figured it out and got to the drop off location they processed my payment and as soon as I left I check my bank account to see that the funds had been returned. What a relief! Wrong!! The next morning the funds were taken back! I was then literally laughed at by the billing department, asked if I had ever rented a car before, and blatantly ignored on Twitter and Facebook. After three damn days of trying the bank finally release my funds. However I never got an explanation as to why they were allowed to charge my account again after returning my money. I agree with mostly everyone on here writing a review. The staff at the location were rude in person and even worse during the 5 phone calls I have made since then trying to get my deposit back. The 5 times I have called there was never a manager on site. Nobody was willing to help. I finally called Customer Service at a 800 number. The first time I was on hold for 22 minutes and when she answered she hung up ( I assume accidentaly). Today again I have called customer service and she is rude too. She would not even let me finish my story before putting me on hold. Here we are a month later and now she says she has submitted my deposit to the bank and it should be there within 2 hours. We shall see if they actually did it this time. I highly recommend staying away from this location for many reasons. The Management and the whole staff including customer service are not even friendly and appear to be lying about their deposit situation. I will never rent another car from Hertz on 812 Peach Street in Arlington! I didn't catch the girls name because I was so mad by the time I left there but I can tell you this. She sits in the desk that her back faces Peach Street when you walk in. The girl with long hair and glasses was OK but not super friendly either. I called before I showed up and I ask if I dropped my car off there could I get a ride to the dealership because the other Hertz location said I would be able to. They told me on the phone no problem just let them know when so I said I would be leaving in 20 minutes to head their way. When I got to their location both girls acted like they didn't know what I was talking about and even accused me of calling the wrong store. When I called their store I ask for their address and they gave me 812 Peach street which is where I went. They finally agreed to take me and called a lift driver. I at one point said if I have to call Uber I can but need to know before I turn in the rent car. When the girl called to get a lift driver she told him I was demanding they get me a ride and throwing a fit and I said they better do what ever they have to do to get me a ride. The guy on the phone ask her if she called the police on me and she stated no she didn't have to end up calling the police but could he please hurry and pick me up. I never said any of that to this girl. I told the girl what she did was very unprofessional and uncalled for. She said " oh I wasn't talking about you I was talking about a customer before you". I told her no you were talking about me. She said Ok and called the next customer to her desk. There was a room full of people there when she did that which was embarrassing and ridiculous. It's bad enough when I called to rent the car they put me on hold for 23 minutes and I had to hang up and call back and when I told them they had left me on hold for 23 minutes they didn't apologize for doing it they just said Oh well what can I help you with! That's the kind of service you get with Hertz rental . I picked it up at Toyota dealership at that Hertz and their the ones who left me on hold so it's the company in general that doesn't care about their customers. STAY AWAY, if you must use them know that they WILL screw you. It is very unlikely they'll give you the car you requested. They'll tell you it's in the shop or that they have already promised it to someone else. If they had promised it to you, they will tell you it's first come first serve. You will end up with a smaller car but still be charged the rate for the one you originally requested. Secondly, they WILL charge you for every day you have the car in your possession no matter what the employee tells you. NEVER turn in the car at a drop location cause they may say you never delivered it and NEVER walk away without checking the date they say you have returned the car. I was returning from my trip on a Saturday and wasn't going to be able to return the car before they close. They aren't open on a Sunday but I was told by a "very nice" person I should not bring the car to the night drop location and that if I bring it back first thing Monday morning he wouldn't charge me for Sunday or Monday. I was there when they opened up for business and upon returning the car asked what I owed. And that same "very nice" person said I owed nothing and that it looked like the insurance was going to cover it all. I left that day thinking that they weren't as bad as the reviews said. One month later I received a charge on my credit card and not only was I charged for the Sunday (okay I did have the car so I won't argue it), I was also charged for the Monday when I returned the car even though I returned it first thing in the morning. The "smart ass" customer representative I talked with said, "we will charge you for the day even if you have the car for just one minute". Doesn't matter what someone tells me. Bottom line, the Hertz billing model is nothing short of organized crime. They are thieves and liars. They will not help you and even the "nice" employees will tell you how sorry they are but that they can't help you. It was suggested I call the employee that I worked with and I've called him 4 times so far and that "very nice" person won't even return my calls. He keeps telling me he'll call me back once he checks the records but never does. If you MUST do business with them, NEVER leave without a printout showing exactly what they are going to charge you and if you provided them a credit card, you might want to consider closing it before they slip in extra charges. I read the complaints but I let my insurance make the reservation with Hertz anyway. My wife told me we should just leave when they didn't have the car that they promised us. There was even an angry customer complaining about their service the day I picked up my car and still I used them, giving them the benefit of the doubt that sometimes stuff just happens. Yet here I am just like the others, writing my complaint because I don't know what else to do. I've been trying for the past two weeks just to have them take off the one day I should never have been billed. Too bad you can't give them a zero! First of all they charged us for gas when we returned it with a full tank. Then won't talk to us about it at all. You'll be on hold forever! This is for the one on Peach St. Arlington, Texas,, This is the worst place ever!!!! First it is in the ghetto , the next thing the place is nasty dirty,,dont set in the chairs,,, They give me a car with the maintenance light on ! The windows are dirty OMG and the seats have stains all over them. I even told the guy I want another car it was nasty. Oh we dont have one it is either that or we take you back. Really WTF ! I called the insurance co. and they call hertz 3 way call I ask her about the maintenance light being on and she said to me that I needed to go to Firestone and have it serviced , you are kidding right . So I spent 11/2 hrs on the phone the insurance co could not find me a car anywhere. I got pics and everything to back it all up. The company knows it the call was recorded. They knew that I was really Pissed off! I told all of them that this is not my job and I am not responsible and they are not doing there JOB! Will never ever book with Hertz again. Prior to this we were loyal Hertz customers. However, this awful experience which was no fault of our own and rather the worst customer service from four different Hertz avenues (2 local and 3 corporate representatives), has left us knowing we will never use Hertz and definitely advise everyone we know about this experience. A few weeks ago, we booked and previously confirmed a midsize car for two weeks beginning today 8/8-8/21 at the Arlington, TX store. We got a call YESTERDAY 8/7 at 6pm saying the car we had booked AND CONFIRMED WAS AVAILABLE was no longer available, nor were there any other cars other than compact cars available. Because I am pregnant and the OB said since we were traveling to get a bigger/heavier car, we could not do this. The basic attitude was "too bad, so sad, you're out of luck and we won't help you". We offered to come to the store right then (we just got out of the airport) but they said they were closing and hung up. We then called Hertz corporate which found another car at a different location (Irving) but could not honor the original price without speaking with the store manager. I then spoke with a supervisor, Brenda #9803, who promised that since the store was closed at that point, that the Irving store manager would call in the morning well prior to our pick up time (11AM). It is now 10:42 AM and no call. I have also tried to call and the phones are forwarded like the store is closed even though the hours are listed as opening at 9AM. Brenda also promised that we would get the original price. I also called the Customer Care line which was no help at all, except to tell us that it was Hertz policy that when there was a car rental confirmation that couldn't be fulfilled that it was the original store manager's job to find us the same kind of car, for the same price, at a different location. We told them specifically not to cancel or modify our reservation. Imagine our surprise when this morning, we checked our reservation and it had been changed to the Irving location for $60 more! I then called the Arlington office to inform him of the Hertz policy which was clearly ignored, and spoke with Caleb the store manager who did not successfully do his job. He did not know the next time he would have a full size car in which I found very hard to believe. At this point, we had made 4 phone calls (over 2 hours of phone calls!) over an issue that we did not cause, and even now at 11:14 AM (pick up time was 11AM!), no one has called us to help us with this issue. We have booked with a different car company with this lack of customer service. Never will book Hertz again!! My daughter was in an accident (not at fault) ... State Farm was paying for the rental... my daughter is 22 and never rented a car before so I helped her since I worked for 2 different car rental companies... she declined the extra coverage and told them we only want what they are paying only ... I know the person that rent the car to you will get a bounce for the extra coverage on the car .. the guy gave her the contract and said to fax did not say email because I was on the phone with her insurance company to Send over the info .. to make a long story short .. She put her credit card with a $50.00 deposit only to be released when we return the car . 2 weeks later a charge of 400. Plus was charge on her bank account . We called the coward manager wouldn't get on the phone but in the back ground tell the you girl not knowing what she is talking about tell us that we were suppose to email it not fax ..BUT they never called us or anything.. I will NEVER rent from this place again .. I wish I would have read the note ... The way they conduct business is very poor ... they need to go back to training how who be better customer service .
