These unprofessional trash bags stole my debit card. On October 5th, the rental was dropped off. Immediately after, we called to inform them, but they were closed. We called on October 7th and spoke to someone who said he would call the new customer renting the vehicle to see if they could locate my card in the car. Well, we realized after, this Hertz Trash Employee didnt even take down my information, so we called back on the 9th and the Trash Bag said the rental had been extended by that customer. Well, these guys like to eat McDonald's because they used my debit card there this evening - November 11 in Lowell, MA. Here is why I know the Hertz employees stole my card and not the customer renting the vehicle. 1. The customer renting the vehicle would have their credit card and ID linked to the car my card was left in, so it would be pretty dumb to take a card and use it when all their information could be found on file. 2. The Lowell, MA McDonald's is right down the street from this Hertz (less than a mile), making it quite convenient for a junked out employee to acquire a little snack with a stolen card. 3. How many people rent cars to drive around their home city? Most rentals are for people out of town or traveling or business, so chances are, the swindler of my card must be close (.7 miles) to the McDonald's they bought their snack at. I hope they get e.coli from their stolen treat. These people are complete degenerates. Do not do business here. Wait there was a man of color who was really nice. The process booking a reservation online was seamless. I needed a rental shortly after finding out that the dealership didn't have any loaners while my car needed an emergency service. I booked online and picked up the rental within the hour. The rep was very friendly and professional. I didn't give five stars only because there was an issue with the car after driving around town. But as soon as I called to make him aware he told me to bring it in to switch out the car. I never made it due to a personal emergency. But I returned it a day early due to my car being repaired early. The check out process was so easy. We were refunded an extra day due to the one issue with the car. President's Circle Status On March 15, 2024, I leased a vehicle from this location. Despite one of the benefits of skipping the counter and heading straight to the car, I waited to be assisted in a congested environment. The crew was willing to put me in an SUV instead of the scheduled car. The SUV had 3/4 of a tank, low tire pressure, and low fluid indicators that lit up. Before returning the vehicle, I made sure to refill the fuel tank to 3/4 capacity, precisely as I had received it. Today, 3/20/2024, the invoice contained a fuel charge. They gave me a car with less than 3/4 gas and I gave it back to them with more and they surcharged me 2 hrs after I dropped it off. Booked a 5 day reservation. Within 2 hours of my reservation, they gave away my rental and told me that they had nothing available. Shitty customer service by Grey and Shauvon. Who hung up on me twice. She said that I swore at her. I can assure you that I never swore. Unless she consider that the word "ridiculous" is consider a swear word. I don't understand how I made a reservation and put in my credit card to pay for it. Yet, they thought I wasn't coming. Why would I pay for it with my credit card and not show up? Doesn't make any sense to me. But anyways, they're reliable. Don't make plans and bank your plans on getting a car rental from them. My car insurance company has a deal with Hertz, and they initially sent me to the Fitchburg location (which had so-so customer service and very poor car selection). When trying to call around to find out what other cars were in my area, the Chelmsford location was the ONLY one to answer the phone and to make an effort to help me out. Insurance rental; have reservation # and show up to no cars available. Why would Hertz send me to a location that has no cars? Do they not have access to the inventory? When I asked if she could search other locations she was not helpful. They had a lot full of vehicles but she claims they were all recalled or required service. Poor customer service. If you get an issue on the road, they will NOT help you (I promise you this). I booked a full size SUV for my trip to FL from MA. I went to pick up and they had a crap car they wanted to put me in so I declined & I was thrown into an old Tahoe (well & good I was ok but not happy with the wait & choice of vehicle). We start driving & the headlights do not work well (very dim) so the next day I call this location and I'm told they cannot do anything for me halfway through my trip (Mind you I'm with kids in the car). So my whole trip was ruined as we had to turn around in GA & head back (yes we had to pay cancellation fees & all). I bring back their broken car & I'm told they will NOT be refunding me in any sort of way. I called the cooperate office and opened a ticket. As a Hertz #1 Club Gold member, I expect good customer service, and to receive a clean and well maintained car. I found the driver who picked me up (Mike) to be very friendly and courteous. However, the paperwork took longer than I expected. While I understand that having customer's purchase the optional insurance is a money maker, I was disappointed in the hard sell on purchasing the optional insurance. While the car was washed prior to my receiving it, it did not have an ice scraper, the fluids were low, car had issues when starting on cold mornings. The non-smoking car smelled was used as a test lab for a cigarette company. When I returned the car, it took 45 minutes because Alex prioritized answering the phone over customers in the office. In theory, spending or renting enough to teach this tier as a gold member should earn you some extra "perks" Today, one hertz north Chelmsford ma employee proved that theory was wrong. I had a reservation today. When I arrived I had to wait outside because the employee had gone to pick up a vehicle for another customer. She told them that she would clean out the vehicle for them. Then she looked at me and said "you I can't help. I don't have any vehicles to rent" I asked if she could switch my reservation until tomorrow. She replied " no, we have twelve reservations tomorrow and I'll make sure they get their rental. You... I can't help. We have no car you to rent." she said she was out of there in ten minutes and asked another employee to "deal" with me. She never apologized for not having a car available. She never apologized for being rude and disrespectful. Hey Hertz.... Let me tell you what this tells me about your company. 1. hertz hires people that do not appreciate my business. 2. having a reservation with hertz for a rental does not mean you will actually get to rent a car. 3. being a hertz loyalty gold plus member that has spent over $2000.00 in rentals to reach the five star tier does not give you any perks. 4. Very rude receptionist wouldn't even acknowledge me she was on a personal call speaking her language and I had my insurance agent on the line to verify the amt. the insurance gave me. Insurance waited 10 before I gave up and hung up. Instead of helping me her other co worker walked in and then she started talking to him. I asked her who the owner or manager was she responded that she was the owner. I have repeatedly been disappointed by the condition of the vehicles rented from this location. The interiors were not cleaned, the reek of smoke, or they are in need of fluids. The rental office itself is dirty and unpresentable. I travel quite a bit and rent from Hertz often. I chose Hertz, despite the normally higher rental costs, because I want a higher level of customer service and that standard of vehicle. I don't keep my own car in that condition, so I don't expect the rental to be anything less. This place sucks first time I rented from them in 2015 and was given a Ford Focus with the airbag hanging out and was told it was safe to drive this time around I got a Chevy reading low tire pressure and bad wiper blades I called to get a replacement they agreed to it however Trevor was not very nice I should have went to enterprise better customer service without the hassle I will never use this company again they don't even deserve 1 star I just got pulled over by the police for an expired inspection sticker 2 months over due now I'm really rolling my eyes read more

Worst experience ever! 2 hours before we were due to pick up our minivan for our first family road trip to Disney World, I received a call from Hertz telling us that they did not have a minivan and could only offer us a mid-sized SUV. We have 4 children so we could not fit in a mid-sized SUV. So my husband and I had to spend hours on the phone trying to track another car down that we could rent that evening, as we were planning to depart that evening. We finally found one 30 minutes away, but had to pay $300 more than we were originally planning to pay and we weren't able to get a minivan. We had made our reservation months prior to our departure. The only thing they offered us was to not charge us for canceling our reservation. What reservations?! There was no car to rent! Returned the car to the HLE at North Chelmsford this morning, left the keys with the agent and moved on. Received a receipt in about 1-1.5 hours, and there was "interior cleaning" fee. When I called the location and asked what happened, the agent told me there was cigarette smoke in the car. I am a smoker, but I hate the smell of cigarette smoke, therefore I do not smoke inside houses/apartments/cars at all because it is just disgusting. Then the agent told me he tried to contact me via phone, but I "did not list the phone number". I am a gold member, and my phone number is listed on my profile! I have been renting with hertz for a few years now, rented with national 5 years before switching to hertz, and have been smoking around 10, and I have never ever had such a problem because I do not smoke inside cars (see above)! I am assuming the agent saw me smoking after I returned the car and decided to charge for "interior cleaning". I am not demanding a refund, I cannot prove anything because I returned a car about 4 hours ago. I just want other people know that this is a shady location with shady practices. I got the worst nightmare of my life with Chelmsford Hertz by the manager there. Clearly I told the manager I didn't want rental insurance at the time even though he back and forth tried to sell it to me and I told him No!!. After 29 days when I returned the car I found out that that manager ignored my word but charged me for insurance. When I returned the car I realized I was in a big mess. This manager Trevis told me he was not able to void the transaction but his area manager based in Nashua. He told me he was going to get hold of him and give me feed back. I waited for more than 3 weeks I never heard from him. When I called Trevis he offered me to settle this by giving me 50% discount on rental insurance. He also gave me his boss email address who I emailed 4 times without a reply. Very disappointed and angry. Finally this company charged my account. read more

This is a small site with a small staff and inventory, so it's best to reserve in advance to insure the availability of the class of car you desire. Service delays crop up if three or four customers show up at the same time, so be patient or come early. read more
