Do not ever rent from this company. They didn't have the decency to reach out to customers to let them know that this location is permanently closed as of a few days ago. People had reservations to pick up or drop off their rental. Corporate couldn't give a straight answer as the abrupt closure and the lack of notification. They couldn't remedy the situation because all cars in the city had been sold out. Had your customers known about an upcoming closure, we would have made other arrangements. And it was impossible to get a last minute car reservation at any other company. Thus, I couldn't get home for the holidays. It's no wondering your company is experiencing financial issues. Online inventory is not up to date. Representatives at the location lied about calling and leaving a VM that was never received. Still charged card without canceling the reservation themselves since they knew no cars was available. I'm not sure what's going on with these Companies but the lack of work ethic is beyond unprofessional and such an inconvenience to the customers. Do better at informing customers you have no cars available. And get the online inventory right so people won't be wasting time on showing up for a car that's not available. I'm currently renting a car from Hertz...I will never use this company again! I tried to extend my rental, the automated service says you can do it online but you can't and they give you a 800 number to call... They can't help because it's not in there system to extend or change drop off location...so, they want me to return to original drop off to extend OR, rent another car to change my drop off location after I return the car to the original drop off location... Me- so, once I drop off the rental (at the airport) how do I get to my destination? CS- rent another car! read more

Went to this location because they advertised you could use a debit card to rent here. Apparently they stopped this practice last November with no updates to their websites...and instead of calling other locations to see if I could be helped, the "customer service associate" gave me unrequested financial advice - "you should keep a credit card". I was assigned this place by insurance with my car in the shop. It was no where near the shop so they tried to move my reservation to a closer location so they could pick me up after I dropped my car off. The other branch didn't respond to them after numerous calls and I considered canceling my drop off since I wouldn't be able to get a rental car. I called this location multiple times for an update and they didn't have one since the other location wouldn't respond. I called once to no pick up and didn't leave a voicemail and Alesia was nice enough to call me back and reassured me that I can continue to drop my car off at the shop and she would send a Lyft to pick me up. She made my car repair process a lot less stressful. I arrived a close to closing and she would have waited for me. I think she goes above and beyond for her customers. I think the Alicia everyone is referring to in previous reviews is actually Alesia. read more

I normally rent through Enterprise on Randolph but Hertz was half the price so I decided to give them a try. I made my reservation online scheduling a 4pm pickup time. No one called to confirm my reservation or to inform me they close at 4pm. When I called the office number it doesn't even redirect to an answering service. I had to leave at 5am the next morning so this put me in a huge bind to try to find another rental company downtown and be able to Uber from McCormick Place before the other rental companies that close at 5pm. Thankfully Enterprise on Randolph came thru for me at the last minute. If I could give zero stars for this review I would. read more

AW HELL NAW! I know people. say this all the time but here goes...I would give ZERO stars if I could. My car fell victim to the bad gas that BP distributed and needed repairs. While in the shop I figured I'd rent a car until the work was finished no big deal, right? WRONG! AW HELL NAW! I needed to say that again because that's exactly how I feel when I think about this situation. Five days later I picked up my car and dropped the rental off at the dealership. Hertz was closed on Sunday and the dealership has an agreement with Hertz so I was told that it was okay to leave it there. I also paid for the FIVE days I had the car at the dealership. Again, I was told this was okay. Fast forward a month and I notice my account is a little low. Come to find out Hertz took out an additional $150+ dollars out of my account. Hold up...say what? Yes, a month later an additional $150+ dollars is just gone. I contact Hertz and they say I had the car out for 10 days, not 5. No I didn't. Yes you did. No I didn't. Yes you did. This went on for awhile until they finally conceded and agreed to refund my money. Now the real drama... A week later still no money. I contact Hertz and they say their headquarters is responsible for refunds. I contact them and they say they have no information on file regarding my refund. I contact this location again and they say headquarters should have it. Well they don't. But they should. Well they don't. But they should. This goes on until they agree to call "again". Another week passes, no refund. I contact headquarters, still no information. I contact this office and they claim they should have the info. By this time I am pulling my hair out! I had to go back to this location and demand that they call headquarters in front of me. Each office said the other was responsible for me not receiving my money. It was ludicrous! Finally, a MONTH later I'm refunded money that should've never been taken out of my account in the first place. And this was after I reported them to the BBB. Then a few weeks later I receive a letter from headquarters indicating I owe them $50! WTF!?!? People please do yourself a favor and don't even deal with Hertz! Period. read more

Convenient location, but staff doesn't communicate well at all. Had a problem with being charged for tolls when we didn't use their toll system. Can't get a straight answer from the people in house and referred to the corporate line which is a huge waste of time. The first thing they do is make you wait for their "pitch" of their used cars. Even if you know the extensions you need to get through you still have to spend your time waiting for their system. Hertz doesn't seem to respect their customers. read more

Rented a VW Passat for a week this past winter. I have a hertz gold membership (which is free, btw) and visa platinum so it turned out to be very affordable. I returned the car about 30 minutes late and also only had a temporary Georgia license but they were accommodating through the whole process. The car itself was also fine, it had some crumbs but was clean enough. read more

I've rented cars from here several times. The staff has always been very friendly, efficient, and accommodating. They make it very easy to pick up and return the car and are very pleasant to deal with. The cars have always been in fantastic condition - clean, newer rather than older, no strange odors, not banged up, etc. read more

The gal that was here when I picked up and dropped off, Alicia, is so nice and really made the whole process quick and pleasant. The van I rented here was a nicer trim level than the usual stripped-down version I've come to expect from rental agencies, and the price was much lower than competitors. Wish I can give 0 stars, had my vehicle at a local body shop and the rental was covered by State Farm, body shop called this hertz location for someone to pick me up, hour and a half later they pick me up and take me to this location on 23rd and Indiana. Get here and wait another half hour for someone to help me, walk up to the counter and they don't have my reservation in the system. Fast forward another half hour while they are on the phone with State Farm. Finally get a car and it took almost 3 hours. Very rude staff as well, PLEASE do not use Hertz, I'll be using enterprise form here in out. read more

As part of Hertz' President's Circle rewards program, I drive rentals four days out of almost every week. I've received on par, expected service from this company until I dropped a car off at this Hertz location. I drove a car from St. Louis to Chicago when flights between the two were being cancelled due to a snow storm. I live a few blocks away from this location, so it seemed ideal. Upon returning my car, I drove into McCormick's parking garages and could not, for the love of God, find out where I needed to get to to hand over my keys. I called the front desk of this Hertz location THREE times, and no one picked up. After driving in circles for all of fifteen minutes, I finally spotted a sign pointing me in the right direction. When I arrived to the Hertz parking spots for rental returns, there was no one there to greet me. Not wanting to simply leave my car and walk out, I wandered into the Hertz office. Inside I found two unfortunate beings stuffing their faces with McDonalds; the phone was ringing off the hook, and they obviously could not care less that it was another renter probably trying to find their way through the McCormick garages looking for where to return their rental. I wanted to smack the super-sized carton of french fries into their faces. I was furious. A perfect example of terrible customer service. Not pleased. read more

I had a good experience on a recent trip. The staffing at this location is sparse but friendly and the shared parking lot makes it easy to get in and out. I would rent again here but call a day in advance to make sure your car is going to be available. read more
