I got into an accident and while the employees were nice the service was extremely slow. I made an appointment for 8am and by 10am I went home because they still didn't have any cars available. When I went back to get a car they still didn't have anything available for me that was fully covered by insurance and equivalent to the car I drive. I didn't understand the point of making an appointment if I was going to be waiting all day. I didn't get into a car until 1pm. read more

I had brought my car for a repair nearby and Enterprise car rental is the closest to rent from. My insurance arranged the reservation and when I got there, they told me if I can come back later since they had no car's available to rent out. Initially they told me that they tried calling me for time to pick up but got no answer, I asked them what number they been trying to call and they told me they deleted the number. When time to return the car, they were prompt to want to extend the rental for more days and I returned the car early and the person told me that he can give me a discount for less $30. I asked for a receipt but all he can say was, you see it online and that was a lie. They did not give me any discount and still charged the same cost. Just do you due diligence and make sure you get anything they say in writing. read more

Unfortunately my insurance booked my car at this location. I feel like a character in online videos making fun of bad customer service. It is ABYSMAL. It has been two days. They keep picking up the phone, pressing buttons we can hear, with no greeting to the customer on the phone (while playing commercials about their great customer service while waiting), and after a while they manually hang up. You can hear them. I cannot speak to anyone. This is insanity for it to be a real business. They just hung up again while Im writing this! My reservation was for yesterday, I am unable to discuss, will have to switch to Hertz and let everyone I know know about this location. Edit: Thank you for the fast response Michelle. I was loyal for 10 years. Enterprise betrayed me in an instant: They helped the white family. Told me to come back in the morning! I've been a loyal Enterprise customer for over a decade, but my recent experience was absolutely unacceptable. On May 29, 2025, I rented an SUV from the South Michigan Avenue location in Chicago. Days later, in Atlanta, the vehicle's tire went flat without warning. That's when the nightmare began. Despite being promised a replacement, I was left stranded at the Atlanta Airport location for roughly 7 hours. I was passed between rude, unhelpful employees--some of whom flat-out lied to me and showed zero concern for my safety or time. One manager refused to help but immediately found a luxury van for a white family in a similar situation. When I asked for the same treatment, I was told to come back the next day. The hypocrisy and disrespect were painful and obvious. Multiple employees--Devin (Atlanta airport), Sanoyin Okesanjo (Mgr., Atlanta airport), and Tyre Dukes (Chicago, Mgr. South Michigan Ave.)--were dismissive, dishonest, and unprofessional. I lost a day's wages and was forced to drive on a spare tire, exhausted and humiliated. The only person who showed any empathy was a manager named Amari. After 6 hours, she helped me within minutes--proving that solutions were always available. It's heartbreaking that basic human decency was withheld by others who looked like me. I've requested a full refund, a formal apology, and compensation for lost wages, but Enterprise has not resolved this issue. I booked a vehicle in advance (5 days before) rental pickup date, only to be notified an hour before pickup that vehicles are not available. Expected to drive to an obligation in a few hours, however, enterprise won't even look into other locations to see if there is availability for the inconvenience. Upon checking myself, all other locations are booked out in the area. The supervisor on shift wasn't able to provide an alternative and didn't have the knowledge on how I could leave a comment or review to help improve the communication process to prevent this from happening in future instances. I have experienced this once with this location, however, I thought I would be forgiving and try again. I have been left with a "sorry" and now have to find a vehicle before the end of the day. What incompetence and lack of professionalism.... I will not be recommending any services from Enterprise to any of my colleagues as I would not like to impose such distrust and unreliability. read more

I had a wonderful experience! I reserved a mid sized SUV to drive my child back to University of Wisconsin. I rented the vehicle for 3 days. It was clean and super comfortable (Chevy Equinox). I had trouble pulling up my utility bill for the rental, but the manager was patient and allowed me to use their PC to retrieve my statement. Once I returned the vehicle, I told them that the GPS took me through several tolls. They accommodated me by adding the toll pass at the time of my return. Not only that, the young lady that processed my return gave me a ride home!!! As long as I lived within 2-3 miles of the location. All worked out well. The customer service was through the roof! The employees have gone above and beyond every time we have visited, and they make the generally stressful experience of traveling much simpler and relaxing. Highly dissatisfied. Visited this Enterprise branch today for a car reservation made by my insurer. The reservation was confirmed and finalized through a phone call with one of their service reps one day prior. However upon arriving, I was informed that they failed to maintain enough cars for the reservations they brought in. I was one of 8+ people waiting around for a car. When I asked for an estimate on when my car would be ready, the front desk provided not even a rough estimate of how long the wait would take. They simply added me to a queue as if I had no reservation at all. Unless you have all day to wait around for a car, I strongly recommend finding another branch or rental car company to work with. read more

Customer service sucks. They will ask you to give them a good rating because as you can see it's already a low one. Tyree the store manager didn't honor the insurance quote for the rental and when asked why, he said because they didn't have a car for that fixed rate, so we received an up charge. Also he didn't mention that if a vehicle came I that fit the fixed rate I could trade it out and later when asked why this was not explained he stated that he didn't remember having a conversation about car rates. This absolutely untrue. I reached out to their corporate office waiting to see how I can be accommodated, I really hope something can be done, when we only expected to spend 150 for the week we ended up pay 369. Very disappointing and unexpected especially since we need the rental another week while the car is being repaired. read more

Enterprise kept my credit card on file and charged it over a month later, completely unauthorized by me, although my account was closed when I returned the car. The company kept my credit card on file and charged it without notifying me. After contacting the company, I was told that a moving citation occurred. I did not receive a citation from the City of Chicago in person, or by mail while driving the rental. The only recourse I have is to file a complaint with the proper institutions, and notify potential renters to protect your credit card information from companies like this. read more

Terrible service today. My senior mother and uncle stood outside in 90degree weather and rain with twenty people in line because this location had additional ways to handle customer load and new sanitation requirements due to COVID. After waiting in line for over an hour they were unable to rent the car because the driver had a Indiana license and was using a debit card instead of a credit card. They were then told by some manager that they would hold the van for us until tomorrow. I called to confirm once they returned home and was told they would TRY to hold the reservation. Now to book another reservation is $300 more than what my original rental was. So now do we wait until tomorrow to see if there a van available, like we haven't previously made HOLIDAY PLANS!!! Or do I have to spend another $300 to insure we have a vehicle. Very unhappy with the service today. read more

Horrible customer service, they are clueless about insurance procedure, takes hours to even to talk to someone over the phone.

First off, I went to the enterprise in the south loop on Saturday 12/17 and Che informed me that I did not have a reservation in the system. She did, however, tell me that she can see that Allstate is handling this reservation but didn't put one in, so I left the office assuming nothing could be done. I returned on Tuesday 12/20 after being in contact with Allstate. I, once again, was told that there wasn't a reservation for me on file. Prior to me arriving, I confirmed with Allstate and they provided me with a reservation number, so I didn't understand why I was being told that there wasn't a reservation on file. So, I had to wait as it was told that I had to wait 1 hour. They tried to give me a Chevy Spark for $420, but I declined because it was extremely too small. I waited more than 2 hours and I informed them before that 2 hour mark that I had to go to work. I missed 2.5 hours of work that day - yet the 3 people in front of me were able to get rentals and the 2 walk-ins after me were able to get rentals. Secondly, as you can see on my receipt I was charged $165 for the rental (@$30/day) which is $4 higher than Allstate quoted rate ($26/day). Today, 12/22 I received a voice-mail from Che stating that I was charged the incorrect fee and she charged my bank account an extra $287.50 without my permission or authorization. When I called her, she only stated that she has the right to charge me whatever and whenever. I asked for her to allow me to speak to someone in corporate and she hung the phone up.  Is this the type of business protocol that Enterprise is now conducting? I am still waiting to hear from someone from corporate.  If Che would have spoken to me prior to charging my account, I would have informed her that Allstate has agreed to pay for my rental and to not charge me any more money. So my bank account is being overcharged for a smaller car rental. Also why is it that Enterprise does not have larger cars for rent? After speaking to someone in customer service, they still are claiming that they can charge me whatever and whenever they want without my permission. read more

I have never been harassed in my life. I called to get a ride to this place, so I can get my reserved vehicle. The guy on the phone told me my car was sent to the shop and should be back soon and they will call me when their on the way. My reservation was for 12pm, come 12:30 still no call. I called back up there and he still holding on to his story, so I had to suggest another vehicle at the same price like dude why am I doing your job. I finally get there about 12:50. The dude at the counter would not take no for an answer. He was literally turning red and his hand shaking Because I refused to get they insurance. Prior to getting off the phone the second time, the guy said your ride is on the way and the vehicle he driving is yours. Then he started talking about these are $20000 cars and if damaged this is coming out of their pockets. If any ding, scratch, the smallest anything you'll be responsible for .So eventually we came to some understanding and then he say you have to wait for one of the return vehicles and you'll be on your way. I said no, the car they picked me up in was my vehicle. He gone say well I was gonna give you a truck instead but okay. I got my vehicle and left. I wish I have gotten his name and reported him. I always rent from enterprise because they are reasonable and willing to work with you. At this point I'm just glad I now have a major card and will be taking my business elsewhere. If I didn't need the vehicle, I definitely wouldn't have gotten it behind that customer service. read more

I needed a rental for just one day when my car was in the shop. I picked it up on a very very busy Sunday and although it was a bit of a wait, you can see the staff was doing everything they could to get everyone in and out. Kyle helped me out that day and was completely professional and friendly and apologized several times for the wait. When I returned the car the following day, it was pretty busy again but Nneka was able to get my car returned right away and able to drop me off at the shop to pick up my car. Very sweet, professional, and went above and beyond with the great customer service! I understand people get frustrated and annoyed waiting around at any establishment, but when you see the staff working hard, staying professional and dealing with the bad attitudes you have to appreciate it when they still remain positive and friendly. Some things are out of their control and corporate may need to handle reservations and low stock of vehicles better in the future. read more

I was referred here by my insurance company after my car got totaled and I needed to rent a car. I was in and out fairly quickly, ended up with a 2017 Hyundai Sonata which I loved, and I ended up buying that same exact make and model later. Enterprise cleaned the car and showed me everything before giving me the car. Staff was helpful, good location right on Michigan ave in south loop. Do not rent here. The service at this place is absolutely terrible. I had to get a rental from them through my insurance. I will asking for another rental place next time. I had an appointment to pick up a rental at 1 pm and didn't end up leaving until 2:30 pm. The staff was incredibly inefficient, disorganized, and unprofessional. They didn't know which cars they had available or where the keys for vehicles were. Different staff would be trying to give customers the same car. They had a car stolen off the lot that morning, which is no surprise given how disorganized their operation was. To make matters worse, their cars are absolutely filthy. They smell of smoke and are dirty. I have never been in such a disgusting rental car. Completely unacceptable. I would give them zero stars if I could. read more

DO NOT COME HERE !!!!! THE WORST ENTERPRISE. Horrible management. The manager Kelvaugn is terrible at his job. He told me on the phone two different prices for the deposit of a rental. I questioned him numerous times on the pricing and each time he gave different prices, of course the prices were going up continuously instead of going down. He started off at $200 then it became $250 I call back hoping to speak to someone different, now he tells me $410. How does the deposit price jump from $250 to $410. Then he tells me I have a discounted rate, and I will be paying $50 deposit, at $28/ a day for the rental. I confirmed it twice on the phone before hanging up. I get to enterprise and not he's telling me I have to pay $460 for the deposit and "it's policy". Seems like he changed "policy" a few times. I got my information back and left. Totally not the place I would want to have my money and have them responsible to give me my deposit back and he can't even keep his prices the same. Even his employers were looking at him confused at his explaination. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE SO MANY OTHER ENTERPRISES IN CHICAGO WITH HIGHER RATINGS. THIS ONE HAS BARELY 3 stars for a reason. O STARS for this place!! I have a full warranty on my car, and I purchased my car from Rogers Auto right next door. So whenever my car will be at the dealership for a few days for repaursmy warranty pays for rental car, and Rogers Auto happens to use Enterprise next door for rentals. So I've been here SEVERAL times over the past few years since I've purchased my car. And let me say....I HATE, ABSOLUTELY HATE getting a rental car from this place! I ALWAYS seem to have billing issues with this place. I return my rental, and pay the amount due, then MONTHS later, they're charging my credit card another few hundred dollars AGAIN for the same rental!!??? In JULY, I had another rental from them. They charged my card, when the rental was returned, and I NEVER heard anything from them again. So last week 2 MONTHS after my last rental, I receive a COLLECTION NOTICE in the mail, stating that I owe Enterprise from my last rental 2 MONTHS PRIOR?? WOW, REALLY?? I NEVER received a bill from enterprise, I NEVER got a phone call from Enterprise stating that there was a balance due on my previous rental. I have no problem paying any balance that maybe due. However, I do have a problem with them sending a COLLECTION AGENCY after me, to collect a balance they NEVER attempted to collect!!!?? BUYER BEWARE, this place is SUPER SHADY when it comes to their billing practices. I LOATHE this place, save yourself time and MONEY and AVOID them if possible. HERTZ, is within walking distance or a quick cab ride away in side the McCormick Place. And they are WAYYYYY better than this Enterprise location! read more

I chose this location because, honestly, they had the lowest rate on a car for the period of time that I needed it. What an incredibly high cost those few saved dollars ended up costing me in time and aggravation. I checked in, paid, and ended up waiting over an hour for my car to be 'cleaned.' After waiting that time, the car was delivered to us and was still dirty to the point that I took photos of the dirt and debris in it. If you are going to make me wait over an hour to have a car that I had a reserved pick up time for to be cleaned, at least clean it. Maybe it's just me but I feel like the car should be ready at the time I chose to reserve it. After returning the car, they asked me for my satisfaction number 1-10. After giving them a number below what they wanted, they said I'd be contacted. I was contacted and promised a complementary weekend rental to make up for the issues. I was told that I'd receive an email about this complimentary rental, two months have passed and I never received a thing. When you are looking at online pricing you may see that you can save a few bucks here, don't. An hour worth of frustration isn't worth saving a few dollars. read more

Do not rent from here! I arrived at 10:15 for my 10:30 appointment and had to wait over 2 hours to get my car! I entered a very crowded waiting room, there was no one to check me in, and the minimal staff that was present were not easily recognizable since they were dressed no differently than anyone else. After speaking to the other angry customers I was able to figure out I was about 4th in line to check in. I was finally shown my car at about 11:15 but then had to wait another 40 mins for the car to be cleaned, only to realize today that the car they gave me was used by a smoker. My car was in for service, so I needed to rent a car while it was being fixed. I work downtown and I typically rent from one of Enterprise's loop locations. However, they were all completely sold old. The Bronzeville location was the closest location that had cars available so I made a reservation. I called in to make sure they would have a car for me and I spoke with the branch manager, Collin, who assured me that they would have a car for me. The office is nice, clean and easy to find. The employees greeted me when I arrived and I didn't have to wait long to be helped. I was pleasantly surprised that they upgraded me to an SUV with AWD. It was very nice and easy to drive in the snow & ice in Chicago. My car wasn't fixed by the time my rental expired, so I called in to extend the rental an extra day. Collin was very helpful and extended the rental for me over the phone. I am glad I found this location and will definitely rent from them the next time I need to rent a car locally. If you have to use this busy location ask for Kesner. He worked tirelessly to get me into a vehicle. Their rule that you can't rent a premium size car like a Nissan Maxima if you're using a debit card (even if you're insurance company is covering it the cost). They also charge a $50 deposit fee. I wouldn't recommend using this location unless you have a solid reservation that you confirm before arriving. Last week I used the online service to schedule a pickup for a vehicle. Someone called me from the location and informed me that they didn't have the truck that I requested and asked if I would be interested in a van instead. I agreed and made it there at my appointment time. When I arrived, they placed my name on a list and instructed me to have a seat outside. I sat there for an hour before I walked in and asked what the hold up was about. They stated that there were 2 people ahead of me. After another hour went by, I asked if it was my turn yet. They said that they were looking for a van for me. To make a very long story short, I sat and waited from 1pm until closing. They never even had the courtesy to call or tell me that they never found a vehicle. I was scheduled to go to work then out of town that day. I was not only late for work but I had to cancel my trip and I'm not eligible for a refund. Not only am I seeking legal advice, I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN! read more

My experience with this enterprise location on 9/24/2020 was unbelievable. My insurance company made a reservation for me. I called before coming in to pick up the vehicle and I was told that there was a vehicle available for me. When I arrived I was informed that there would be a wait for a vehicle. My reservation was for a midsize vehicle. I sat for 2 1/2 hours waiting on a vehicle that I was told would be there upon my arrival. After 2 1/2 hours a mini van was located. I explained my discomfort with driving a mini van as I was recently involved in a car accident and did not want to get behind the wheel of a van. There was no other option available for me. If the reserved vehicle was not available that should have been communicated when I called. The customer service was poor and I would not recommend renting from this location. read more

We reserved a 15 passenger van a couple of months ago to take a family road trip to Florida to attend the matriarch's 90th birthday celebration. In all, we are traveling with 11 people, plus luggage. Upon arriving to pick up our reserved vehicle, we learn that this location has BOLTED all the seats down. No cargo space! Not allowed to take the seats out! Not allowed to pull anything behind it. WHAT?!? The "manager" says that seats had been stolen before so now corporate doesn't allow the seats to come out. So I telephoned the corporate office who pretty much said that it is NOT corporate policy to disallow the removal of seats. So... either corporate doesn't know their own policies or this manager doesn't. The nice lady (Christina) from the corporate office attempted to find us a van from a different location. Nothing in IL, IN, or WI that we could get and still make it to our event on time. Ended up calling a family owned business and renting from them. Enterprise is a nationally operated business. Surely, we aren't the first people to want to travel with luggage! This almost ruined our trip. If not for the guys at Paragon Auto Rental, we would miss a monumental birthday celebration this weekend. Highly, highly disappointed with Enterprise. read more
