although I didn't get the full experience of renting a car here, I did drop off our Rent-A-Car from the airport to this location. They give you instructions outside of what to do to leave your car anywhere you would like clean it out and then dump the keys in a box alongside your paperwork. We did exactly that and we didn't have any issues checking out so for that reason I'm giving them five stars. There's a lot of parking space in this parking lot so you shouldn't have any issues getting rid of your rental vehicle. read more

Called this location the day before to make sure cars were available before I made the reservation. In my experience, making a reservation for a vehicle online means nothing. They assured me they had cars and took the reservation. It was a Friday and I arrived an hour after my appointment time due to being held up at work. When I got there, one of the Hertz employees was explaining to someone that they have been overbooked all day. Then when it was my turn to be helped, I was told they had NO cars! Not one to give me. One of the Hertz ladies told me that had I showed up at my appointment time, I probably would have had a car! Whatever. So we got no car and as we were wrangling with Hertz until almost closing, we couldn't go anywhere else. They totally ruined our weekend plans to go out of town. So bottom line is we will NEVER rent from this location and maybe not from Hertz. What a joke. If we ran our business like that we would be out of business. read more

My husband was recently in a wreck (in our only car). Thankfully he was okay, but our car sadly wasn't. We needed a rental and this place was close to where I work. When I got there, there were hardly any cars in the lot (which worried me). I ended up getting a '11 Fiesta, which sounds great, but ended up smelling like a hoard of smoking hobos had lived in it a week. I asked if they had anything else, but the only other choice they gave me was a entsy-weentsy roller skate looking thing. No thanks! The first week we had it, every time I got out- I smelled like Eau de Smoking Hobo. Not attractive, plus I am horribly allergic to smoke. For the price I spent, I could have made 2 car payments. I have rented from Hertz multiple times and they the last two times have been been a joke. Last car was filthy, smelled like an ashtray, glass in the trunk and something wrong with the front end and was t asked about ins. I was told by Mike, to take their survey, give all 9's and I'll get a $25 coupon. Lie! Gave benefit of the doubt, rented again. This time charged for ins, car was filthy and again smelled like an ashtray. I just got a call from corporate financial regarding legal action for not returning the car. I returned it on time, 3 days ago! Mike was who I gave the keys to. I called right away and spoke with Ryan who said the car wasn't entered as returned and that now I will get my deposit back. They will take your money and reservation. Then you will arrive and be told they've run out of cars since they have massively overbooked their own inventory. Avoid Hertz if you can. We booked our reservation a week in advance, we had a long road trip that day and had pick up for 7:30 AM, get there at 7:31 AM, they have no cars..., the other location had no cars, so we had to drive an hour to Nashville . When I originally booked the res I checked online then I called to confirm the price and package for unlimited miles, they told me $198 (had to drop off car in another state, so was higher), so I reserved it, as i was driving to Nashville i called and double checked to make sure price didn't change, which it hadn't. I get to Nashville, and the price jumps up to $340, taxes and fees were only $50 and that was with %25 discount. read more

Saturday At 6:30a my car just stopped on me in mid traffic while on my way to work. I scrambled to find a local car rental that was open on a Saturday and came across Hertz. Booked online for 2 weeks @ $289.23 which I thought was a great deal. When I final got to the location at 9:00a they were warming and parking cars; the office didn't open till 9:20a. When the agent pulled up my information, I was hit with a $200 holding fee. When I booked through the website, there was NO mention of a holding fee, not even in the fine print. So I was stuck with 1 week @ 389.23. Hardly worth the booking, but i needed to be at work at 10:30a in Cedar Hill. Had no choice. Not a happy customer! read more

I did an online reservation on top of calling before driving to this Clarksville, Tennessee location from Kentucky only to get slim pickings of any vehicles really worth renting. Worst scam artists in the rental world. Will let you make a prepaid reservation on line, confirm it over the phone, let you know you will be charged $200 additional to cover credit deficiencies and no major credit card but then - even after you've rearranged your world to fit in their store hours - they will refuse to allow you to rent based on your credit history. Now, the biggest part of the scam is they will refuse to issue you a refund because "you didn't keep your appointment and you cancelled the rental." So after four days of being given the "No" standard answer when asking for a refund - they finally say yes after my lawyer calls but it'll be 7-10 business days before we see the money. It's now been 12 and counting. Don't rent from Hertz. Expensive lesson but hopefully they'll think it's worth it. read more

First off let's start as we walk threw the front doors of hertz. As I entered the building that was empty with no customers. Two employees were talking about lunch and what they wanted to do after work. Fifteen minutes later one of the employees said can I help you. As I stood there with my wife two kids trying to figure out how long this is going to take we finally walked out to our car. As we approached our vehicle we realized there was minor damage, door dings and scratches. I had to inform the employee more than once to write down the damage I found on the form hertz developed. Annoyed about the wait and the employee not wanting to write down the damage on the vehicle, so I am not liable later when I return. I forgot to inspect the interior witch I found just as dirty as the outside. I asked why the outside was so dirty I was informed bugs are hard to take off the windshield and bumper. During my trip I realized my vehicle had no windshield wiper fluid and needed a oil change I informed my hertz store they did not care. When I returned the vehicle on the last day, I was informed that there was a customer waiting on my vehicle and we agreed to bring back our vehicle at noon witch was not informed to me. So I went out of my way dropped off the vehicle to hertz on a half tank thinking of the customer. When I arrived they informed me that it would be $10 a gallon to fill up the tank full witch I was not informed and they refused to let me go fill up the vehicle even though I did not sign or give any agreement of turning in the vehicle. I then talked them down to just making me pay $10 for the whole half tank of gas witch I was thankful for. I then informed them that when I received the vehicle it was dirty so I left it dirty on the outside cleaned the inside and they did not care about the oil change. To my surprise the customer that was waiting for my car they handed over to him with bad oil no washer fluid and dirty they did not fill the tank or even clean the vehicle. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! I made an online reservation with no issues ... a few hours later a counter person called to say there was no cars available and I would be on stand by. I go by the lot and there was cars there. I got a check in email so as I was following through with it when i got a message my reservation was canceled. I called the customer service 800 number spoke with Regina (she was sweet and tried to help)in which she showed there was cars available and yes someone in the local office canceled my reservation. The customer service rep put my reservation back in. I went to local office the next morning, the counter person was rude said there was no vehicles yet there was and they closed that day with cars on the lot as well. Your company should NOT accept reservations if you can not or will not fill them. I even offered to drive to nashville and the rep in the local branch as well as the second rep i spoke to at the 800 number refused to help. read more

The worst customer service, got charged for a bunch of extras and can't get the manager to call back, and is never In the office. The first time I called to disputed it they hung up on me. Now it's been over a week since I retuned it and the manager still won't explain why I was charged $150 for keys, when I turned in the key, but the key chain had fallen off. Or why I was charged 30 for gas, when I rented it it was a quarter tank and returned it with 3/4 full. Shady shady place. Hertz Car Rental on College Street in Clarksville TN has some very unprofessional service. Made a reservation in May for June and called to verify all was good and was told the 12 passenger van had been sold 2 weeks prior and they have no idea if and when they'll be getting more in. So asked why I wasn't notified or if anyone was going to call me to let me know and the manager Tim and his supervisor Phillip Swaw said probably not. Now I have been trying to find another 12 passenger van to get these girls to Florida for a dance competition. I even called customer service to make a formal complaint and Micheal couldn't even find my reservation number even after Tim gave it to me. This is a Mickey Mouse ran store/company. I work in the Auto Repair Service and we send customers to them and we use them for the business as well. Don't rent here, prepaid for my rental 3 weeks ahead of time. rented a standard car called the day of my pick up car was ready went down to pick it up and they downsized me and then gave me a dirty car. Worst experience I've had renting a vehicle. Vehicle was NOTready when I got there. Associate quickly cleaned which went over The time that I was supposed be pulling off the lot. I had to request the time being changed to reflect the fact that the vehicle was not ready to leave at a certain time. Reluctantly, with a little attitude, the time was changed. The car was heavily perfumed and by the time I got far away from the dealership the smell of smoke, from a previous smoker, started to settle in. I called and requested a new car but no car was available. The male associate I was working with offered for me to come back to the rental place and exchange but that was not a good option for me because I live. Over 20 minutes away. Same associate try to find one in Springfield and also Franklin but no vehicle was available. Unbeknownst to me they tried to send somebody out to exchange the car... Did not even call me to tell me what was going on. Associate got lost on the way here. Good gesture but if you're going to do that you need to make sure that the person is going to be home when you show up. No phone call was given to me to let me know that was their plan. On returning the car the same associate that I had when I took the car off the lot began to tell me that she was going to waive the hundred dollar pet fee. I never put a pet in that vehicle. More than once she expressed to me that pets are not allowed in the vehicle and that she was waving the fee. Maybe if the car was cleaned properly when I picked it up she would've noticed that maybe there was pet hair in there before I drove away. I had a black bag in the backseat and never had one bit of animal hair on it. The female associate that I had to deal with was not a good representation of your company.
