    Cockroach on my cup.

    We rented a car from Hertz and it had cockroaches. We didn't notice it until the second day. I saw it from the corner of my eye but thought it was just a bug. On the third day I was drinking an ice coffee and put it down in the cup holder and 3 cockroaches came out and went in my cup. The last day going to the airport my daughter opens the back door and there were 3 cockroaches in the back seat. When we returned the car we let them know about the cockroaches and the lady gave an excuse the it is Hawaii hot and humid and people eat and drink in the car. They only gave me credit for 1 day out of 4 days. Horrible rental company don't rent from them!

    Shoutout to Jojo who helped us get our Jeep exchanged within minutes - she was super nice, patient, efficient, and thorough! We found a tiny crack in the windshield when we picked up the car and didn't think anything of it - took pictures of it anyways. Thank goodness we did because the next morning, the tiny crack turned into a huge crack down the front windshield. We got worried, especially with the kids and all the construction happening on the roads, so we took the car back to Hertz and Jojo helped us get the exchange process going quickly. Thank you for the efficient process, Jojo - within 15 minutes, we had a brand new jeep and the kids got to finish up their naps while waiting. Perfect! Even when we went to pick up our Hertz rental car after landing, the process was fast - wait in line, give driver license, look up reservation, make any upgrades, and head over to the exact car stall number to pick up the car (keys inside car) without having to wait for any agent to hand us the keys. It's also on the same level as the front desk when checking in to pick up, so that was convenient instead of taking the elevator and waiting in another line to get assigned a car. Thanks for the quick and excellent service, Hertz! You made this a great trip for the entire family!

    This is the worse. We had a 12:30 rental schedule And it said go through early check in which we did. We arrived a little earlier and still had to wait in this enormous line. Here in Hawaii Thanks Hertz for starting my vacation like this

    TL;DR - Our experience sucked. We had reserved a vehicle for a trip to Hawaii and went to the rental pickup upon arrival. We spoke with an agent (who was rather unfriendly, but that is beside the point). She gave us a Chevy Traverse which seemed suitable for our needs. We loaded up all of our luggage and started up the vehicle to depart. We then realized that it may be a good idea to document the condition of the car prior to departing. Upon inspection, we found that the front right tire had a rather large slit which exposed the interior cords. This is incredibly dangerous and I am concerned that this vehicle was offered to us in the first place in this condition. Compromised tire cords are highly susceptible to blowouts and endangers every passenger. As an established car rental company that has such high-tech cameras that keep track of damage, I am baffled that this was missed. And if not, even more concerned that it was overlooked. We went to the Gold service center inside of the garage to speak with a different agent about this issue. She confirmed she could exchange the car for us but did not share any concern or remorse about the issue we had discovered. She gave us a Ford Explorer and assured us that this vehicle was larger than our original. We walked out to the car and realized it was actually much smaller and our luggage would not fit. We went back to the Gold center and spoke with another agent (who again was quite rude) and she told us there is nothing that can be done, and if we are still concerned we need to go back inside and speak with our original agent. At this point we had become frustrated with the entire situation and exhausted by the poor customer service and lack of concern for safety. We went back to our original agent who again switched out our car to a Kia Sorrento which did not resolve anything since our complaint was about the smaller size and the Sorrento was even smaller than the Explorer. We tried to explain the situation and how we already loaded all the luggage into a damaged vehicle but she shared absolutely no care for our situation. Her best response was to upcharge us for a larger vehicle. Honestly, this feels ridiculous. We were given a vehicle with a damaged (and dangerous tire) after we had already loaded everything up and was met with no concern or assistance. A simple complimentary upgrade would have solved this entire situation and avoided this communication altogether. Is this really the best Hertz can do? I'm also baffled that the customer service was so cold and unfriendly. How can you expect to have a business built upon providing service to customers while having agents that seem to hate their jobs and the folks they service. This experience has left a sour taste for our entire group and we will avoid booking with Hertz in the future.

    Rented a F150 this morning.  Move some small things to storage. Returned this afternoon.   Easiest ever.

    YES 5 stars. The only bad thing was going round and round trying to find it. Everything else was smooth. Never ever had renting a car been this smooth. Truck was waiting for me, keys inside. Dropped off same day - OMG YOU GUYS ROCK! So easy 5*****'s hertz - Gold member treatment the best! Did I mention how freakin reasonable it was too!

    They claimed that you can skip the line by checking online but their miserable online system has been down the entire morning!!!

    The Oahu Hertz is Usually very busy. I had a hard time w calling. But check your paper work make sure it’s not in there. Call 1800 number and they will call for you. They have numbers that the public doesn’t have. Good luck

It didn't have the fuel efficiency if a compact car and it was much larger than I expected. The window visibility was lacking so I returned it. The clerk said my only other choice was a Kio with a boxy build. It was actually a compact SUV but I snatched it as it was better than the first car in many ways. Well, I can't complain too much since I only paid $40/ day but it wasn't fuel efficient.

The lady said not to worry, she had other vehicles available at no additional charge. I ended up getting an upgrade- BMW X5! Not to shabby! Overall, I had a great experience! I was in and out of SIXT rental within 15 minutes from arriving! Staff were friendly, quick and efficient, not to mention accommodating! It's located upstairs in the parking garage adjacent to the airport (very convenient). The car itself was in mint condition, clean and practically smelled brand new! Plenty of legroom and luggage space. We definitely felt like we were driving in style around the island! So thankful to SIXT and their staff for kickstarting our vacation on a happy note! It's true what they say, having your own set of wheels eliminates the stress of waiting for rideshares or adhering to rigid public transit schedules- Mahalo SIXT!

    The "manager" Andrew, accused me of aggressing an employee by saying the word "crap". I did not say…read morethat, I was not even angry or frustrated. He came out of nowhere to tell me, aggressively, why they need to check an id that had been scanned multiple times previously. I don't understand what even happened! Because I was confused and upset about being wrongfully attacked, I asked him to clarify his accusation. He escalated by repeatedly telling me, "you can't even admit that you said it" and I said, yes, because I don't ! He would not engage with me or my husband in coming to a meaningful understanding. My husband and two teenage children both said they did not hear me say this and came to my defense. He would not admit he could have misheard. He shut me down and repeated that I was denying it and that I couldn't admit that I "cursed" at his employee. He ended with sarcastically saying, "why don't you leave and enjoy your vacation." I don't say the word crap, because it's a crap curse word. I use better, more adult curse words. If I was frustrated, the room would know. What manager is trained to escalate? This person should not be in a front facing position. I'm kinda floored that he chooses to be in customer service, because if he is starting g a fight with a not that annoyed middle aged lady, how does he handle an enraged man? I doubt he would have had this interaction with a man. I wasn't even mad, it came out of nowhere I think he must have heard my kids or another customer say something 'cause it's not what happened and my whole family was witness. I'm sure everything is recorded - check the footage. You're an angry man, Andrew, shame on you. Sixt has been made aware of the situation and I do really hope they watch the security footage. Also, Andrew, crap isn't considered a curse word by any means (even though I didn't even say that!) Get your crap together - I can say that even on yelp and it's not considered offensive. Unless you don't have your crap together and then yes, you should take offense.

Over the years, I've rented from Budget several times and always found them to be economical, efficient, and easy to work with. Unfortunately, my last few experiences have shown a noticeable decline. The lines have gotten longer and longer, which initially led me to start exploring other rental companies. For this trip, I ended up shopping based on price and was surprised to find Budget's rates were no longer significantly cheaper than the competition. I reserved a Toyota Camry or similar, only to be offered a Nissan Maxima or Chevy Malibu upon arrival. When I asked about the Camry, the agent told me that Budget doesn't carry Toyota vehicles. That response left me confused--if that's the case, why are Toyota models featured on the website? I understand that specific vehicles aren't guaranteed, but advertising vehicles you don't even carry seems misleading. The bigger disappointment was the condition of the car. While it looked clean from the outside, the interior told a different story. There was trash under the seats, mud in the trunk, and dust across the dashboard. It was obvious that little to no attention had been given to cleaning the inside of the vehicle before it was rented out. Everyone can have an off day, but this experience felt more like a lack of pride in the product being delivered to customers. With pricing now comparable to other rental agencies and service quality declining, I'll be taking my business elsewhere on future visits to Oahu.

When you arrive to the airport, you'll have to hop on a shuttle that will take you to the rental car center. Once we got there, we got in line to check-in for our car. Once you are checked in, they'll give you a spot number which has your car. This line moved pretty quick. However when we got to our car, we noticed that the seats wouldn't fold down, which was an issue for us because we had our golf clubs and needed the extra room. We went back to service counter near where the cars were and they were able to switch us into a bigger Jeep at no extra cost. It took a little bit of time as there were a lot of people in line here but it was well worth the wait. The new 2026 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was such a nice drive and was easy to navigate while driving. Definitely a car worth getting especially if you have some bigger pieces of luggage. Drop off was a breeze and everything went as smooth as one could want for a car rental. I wouldn't hesitate renting from Budget again.

I had a reservation for April 20 with a 12:00 PM pickup and had already checked in online the night before, but that did not seem to help at all. After picking up my luggage, I got in line at the Dollar counter around 12:30 PM, with at least 60 people ahead of me. It took about two hours just to reach the service counter. After that, I was given a card and told to go downstairs to the first-level pickup area, where I had to wait another hour before the car was ready. The whole process felt like Beetlejuice car rental purgatory -- slow, surreal, and completely uncaring. Dollar/Thrifty may be cheaper compared to other rental companies, but be prepared to be ignored and stand in a mind-numbing line for three hours or eternity, whichever ends first. No apology, no explanation, and no sense of urgency from the staff at any point. Others before and after me were clearly going through the same painful experience. Meanwhile, I did not see the same long lines or wait times at other rental counters in the HNL CONRAC. Someday we may all have to wait in line at purgatory... so you might as well start practicing your patience at the Dollar HNL CONRAC. This was a terrible and frustrating way to start a visit to Honolulu.

The man who finally helped us also could not answer my question about the reserved Minivan. He tried to offer us a standard-sized SUV and claimed it satisfied what I had reserved. No way! Our family had specific reasons for reserving the van during this trip. He kept trying to get us out of the way by saying. "It will be a wait for a van". So....you didn't know we were coming? What's the point of a reservation?!?!!? Anyhow, we got passed around to a couple other staff who kept trying to play the same game and we kept insisting that we ordered a van. It took 45 minutes longer to get what we reserved. Not happy with undertrained staff who are free to hand out the wrong class of cars vs. what customers paid for. Very poor customer service and bordering on fraudulent business practices. If I didn't have to use this company to use my airline reward points, I would never have reserved with National. I urge you to avoid using them. I have much better experiences in the past at this very airport with their competitors, namely Enterprise or Budget.

    Absolute LIARS…read more I've rented cars many times and this was my first experience with Avis, which I booked through Costco Travel. The first car they gave me was a Dodge Durango. Three of the seat belts were DEFECTIVE (belt could be pulled but very slowly retract), rendering it completely unsafe. We exchanged the car the following day and were given a Chrysler Pacifica. The van was TRASH when we received it. Dents, scratches all the way around. A leftover empty plastic water bottle was still in the back. There was sand in the car. I'm not sure how this even passed "servicing." They said it was the only van they had left, so we went with it and got through the rest of our trip just fine. At return, while we're still going through the terminal, we receive a damage claim. What a joke. Their car already had all of these damages before we even left the parking lot. The mileage they claimed wasn't even correct. On their report, they claimed we drove 13,412 MILES during the NINE days we had the car. That is how many miles I put into my car over a WHOLE YEAR. For the record, our actual mileage driven was 248 miles. Thankfully, I have photos of the car documenting the damage already present when we received the car.
