I booked a reservation with Hertz Rent A Car @ the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport in Jackson, Mississippi [100 International Dr] from Friday, 06/05/26 until Tuesday, 06/09/26. I proceeded with the Class Vehicle - Large Sedan. When checking in at the rental car counter, I was informed the car fleet inventory was limited. Because of this, I received a free upgrade to a mini SUV. I ended up getting the Volkswagen Tiguan FWD. This vehicle was beyond incredible on a full tank of gas. It was able to hold nearly 500 miles at once. This experience was quite impressive. As a Hertz Gold+ member, I had three complimentary days added to my account. The original total of the booking was nearly $300. After the discount was applied, the invoice ended up being $95.61. I also earned 63 points. I was so elated and grateful because the price point was so valuable. I returned the vehicle while this business was not open. Since I had a 7am flight with United Airlines, I did the drop-off at 5am. It was convenient and easy because all I had to do was park the vehicle in the return line and then drop off the key inside of the airport. There was a designated drop box for keys at the rental counter that a person couldn't miss. This particular Hertz Rent-A-Car location exceeded expectations and provided a wonderfully positive experience. I recommend renting a vehicle from here. read more

This location is a complete failure when it comes to basic competence and customer service. This is now the second time I've had a terrible experience with Hertz here, and it's clear nothing is being done to fix it. On December 8, 2025, I reserved a vehicle and was told upon arrival there were no cars. Then I was told there were cars--but not for the one-way rental I had already booked. When I asked for clarification, I was met with a dismissive "I said what I said." I asked for a manager and was flat-out denied. No follow-up. No apology. Nothing. Now here we are again. I arrive after a flight, wait 15 minutes, and the agent can't even locate my reservation. Once he finally does, he casually tells me: "We don't have any cars." So what exactly is the point of a reservation? Why wasn't that communicated immediately instead of wasting my time? Then I'm told, "If someone brings a car back, you'll have one"--even though they're closing in an hour and have no confirmed returns. That's not a solution--that's incompetence. When I asked about the next morning, I got the same useless answer: "If someone brings one back." No apology. No alternatives. No effort to fix the situation. Just "go get an Uber and come back." I flew in ahead of my team and am responsible for getting us to a critical 12 PM meeting--and your staff couldn't care less. This isn't just poor service, it's a complete lack of accountability and professionalism. At this point, it's obvious this location is poorly managed and poorly staffed. April 13, 2026 9:30 pm. TERRIBLE SERVICE. I and 20 something other people had RESERVATIONS but Hertz had no cars. I am supposed to be someplace the next day 1 1/2 hours away. I was number 13 waiting for a car. Since it's 9:30 pm I asked the Hertz person, do you really expect any cars and me being number 13 on the waiting list, will I get a car tonight. She said No. All the other rental car dealers were also out of vehicles. The people in front of me had been waiting over 2 hours. I called the next morning, they were still out of cars and that evening and still out of cars. I called Hertz support and all they could say was sorry even though I had a reservation. read more

My wife and I were returning to East Texas from a getaway with friends in Biloxi when she suddenly had to be hospitalized and undergo emergency surgery at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Two days before her expected release, I reserved a Tahoe (or similar) through Hertz at their Lakeside location. I chose Hertz because they claim to be #1, and with a six-hour drive ahead of us, I didn't want to cut corners. They even offered an upgrade to a Suburban for $17 more -- I accepted, thinking it was a good sign. The next morning, I got a text and a call saying there was no availability -- not for a Tahoe, Suburban, or anything close. They told me to try the airport location. After several unanswered calls, I went online, prepaid a reservation for a Suburban at the airport, and hoped for the best. On the morning of my wife's release -- after 10 days in the hospital and major surgery -- Hertz cancelled again, claiming no availability. Their customer care line found what they said was a Suburban at the Lakeside location, so I Ubered over immediately. But once again, I was told there were no vehicles available and that they "never let those vehicles out for one-way rentals." I went to the airport to cancel in person, only to find that neither reservation had been cancelled -- and they said I'd be charged $200 in cancellation fees. I stopped payment on my card and walked over to Avis. Within minutes, Avis had me in a clean, comfortable Chrysler Pacifica ready to take my wife home safely. Avis definitely tries harder, and they're #1 in my book. Consistently the worst Hertz I have ever been to. They rarely have cars that can adequately honor the amount of reservations. So you stand the chance of flying into this middle of nowhere airport and not having a vehicle to leave. The customer service is consistently bad. The desk reps are no help whatsoever and they maintain the same bad attitude every time. They are also rarely on time so if you land before 9 you will spend an hour waiting for them to tell you they don't have a car for you. Cancelled due to there being no sign of life that anyone was working that evening, even though it was 2 hours prior to business hours closure. Customer service was zero help over the phone, but did say they were sorry for the inconvenience before offering zero assistance and suggesting I wait an hour to see if maybe someone is on their lunch break.... at 9:30pm... an hour and a half before closure at that point. I waited for about 2 hours and when asked how long I would have to wait the answer was, "I don't know." If I could give them zero stars, I would. Prepaid for a 4 day reservation. Arrived at 8:30am (my scheduled time). When I walked in, one of the 2 employees onsite said "We ain't got no cars." I asked what she meant and she replied "Didn't you hear me, we ain't got no more cars". I told her I had a prepaid reservation and she replied "Other people had reservations too. My family and I had trouble with a rental from Wichita, KS. We received it in the evening and didn't realize there was really bad wear and tear on them. We noticed once it was daytime near jackson, MS & headed to the nearest hertz. Thomasa was sooo nice and understanding! THE WORST EVER!!! I rented a car from them. It broke down within 30 minutes of me renting it. Roadside took over 5 hours to arrive. I could not stay with the vehicle because it wasn't a safe location and the vehicle was towed back to the airport that evening. I ended up having to get other transportation at my own expense that weekend. Hertz is now saying I returned the car a week late and charged me for the towing and charged me for fuel since it wasn't returned with a full tank. I would do 0 stars if they would let me. I had a car reserved and the day before my morning arrival I got a text that there was no car available and my reservation was canceled. I have a charge on my credit card from Hertz for nearly $500 for that rental that THEY CANCELED. I've called no less than 5 times to get some resolution, and no one has been helpful. After renting a car in Jackson, Mississippi turned into a nightmare. First no one did a check of the car when I picked it up, nor when returning it in October, 2024. Approximately 1 month I started getting voicemails with vague messages to contact them back but no reason why. After several of these I called the number. They said I had returned the car with a cracked windshield and owed over $700. I denied that was true. Continued getting the calls, then a news report stating Hertz had a breach of customer information which was resulting in scams. I've contacted Hertz customer service via email and phone calls with no help, but told me to contact the Jackson, MS location. I've called multiple times with no one answering or no option to leave a message. I'm beyond frustration. Efforts to verify if it's a scam, or convey no one examined the car upon returning has been impossible. Needless to say I DO NOT recommend using this location and will never use it again. Originally when I rented the car via the Military, I explained I would be staying for longer than 30 days for my tasking. The man at the counter told me they couldn't do more than 30 days at a time (which is fine). He then told me I just had to call and renew my car when my time was up and it wouldn't be a big ordeal. I called and the girl told me I could only make reservations online. So I tried and there was none available in the next week. I explained I just wanted to renew my car. She stated I had to make a reservation, so I tried to make one and the only day available was my turn in date. Fine, whatever. But I worked 14 hours at the hospital that previous night and here's what happened when I arrived: I came to the hertz parking lot for the reservation and I was 30 minutes early. I parked my vehicle and was going to wait in the airport. As soon as I parked, a hertz worker banged on the trunk of my car and told me I needed to move my car and I couldn't park there. I explained my situation and she stated I needed to leave and come back when my reservation time came. And she was absolutely disgusting about it. I didn't understand why I couldn't leave their car in their parking lot so I could renew it. If I am able to choose next time for a rental company, Hertz will definitely NOT be it. read more

When I went to ask him to get my car. He said "manager said we ain't checking out cars. Manager ain't here". When I told him I had a confirmed reservation he said... They took all my info and then they said that they were cleaning our car it will be done in a few minutes. 45 minutes later I go to the counter and ask the girl about it. Made a reservation only to get off the plane and have an email stating my reservation was cancelled. There was a line of customers with similar issues. The lady at the counter was kind and informed us all that reservations were cancelled. The company had a trailer coming to collect any cars available to take to New Orleans for the Super Bowl. Ended up having to take a taxi to the closest company to get a car for a few days. While looking at my credit card statement they charged me $159.00 for a rental not picked up. They should be paying me for canceling my reservation not the other way around. Outside of having to figure out transportation for a few hour work trip, now I have to fight to get money back that was stolen from me. Safe to say Hertz will forever be at the bottom my rental options. Would rather pay extra and Uber/Lyft for the day than consider using them again. I have no doubt they made plenty of money for the Super Bowl renters, those profits will quickly be gone with the long term customers they lose from tactics like this. What kind of car does a snake drive? An Ana-Honda. Although I didn't rent one of them, I did enjoy my visits to this location. It is hard to rate them high as all any expects is crappy experiences but I have had great visits and friendly interactions. This is a small airport and you will not get the huge airport selections so if you get past that then you should be ok with your selection. Name the vehicle and enjoy the service, that is what I do. Today I even left my WiFi/MIFI in my vehicle and the team did a great job in helping me come back to the car to retrieve it. I always use Hertz and will continue to do so thanks to this visit and other visits. read more

I am a President Circle Gold Rewards Member and this is the worst location of a Hertz that I have ever rented from. I returned my vehicle on 13 August, 6 hours before I had to, at 1pm. No one was there to check me in. So I parked the vehicle in the return line and I stopped by the outside kiosk and asked the lady there if someone was going to close out my rental. All she said was, "Are the keys in the truck?", I replied yes. She said someone will take care of it later. It has been 48 hrs. and no one has closed out the rental because after checking my account online I noticed that I hadn't earned points and the rental wasn't showing as a past rental. So I called customer service to inquire what the problem was. Customer service said they were sorry and that they would sent an email to the location to close out the rental and that I would receive an email of my receipt. After waiting for a time in line, the representative says that same day rentals are not allowed. There was no indication of this policy using the Hertz app!!!! The fact that I had already paid and gone out of my way to pick up the car had no impact whatsoever!!!! There was no manager on duty. Was instructed to use the Hertz App to rent a vehicle. Used the App and booked a vehicle for a week. Received the confirmation number through my email. Same day, after close of business, I get a message that says "unfortunately we won't be able to fulfill your rental." Then leaves me a phone number that is automated and no person is available. Ever. It tells you to use the App or Hertz.com for any modifications or issues. I call Customer Service and they give me a vast array of excuses. Each of 5 people tell a different lie. The final conversation they suggested that I "call around to Hertz Lots and find another car." I told them that I don't work for Hertz. It's their job to honor the contract, not mine. It's their job to find me a car, not mine. What is the point of giving a confirmation number that means NOTHING. Was also supposed to be contacted by a "Resolution Member" and it is now day 3, no call. To top it off, one rep actually recommended "I upgrade to Gold Membership" so she could give me 750 points on my next rental. Like there is EVER going to be a next rental. #dobetterhertz read more

Unfortunately, we booked through a third party and didn't get a chance to review or select the company. Hindsight is 20/20. Our flight had been delayed we called ahead of time and arrived 15 mins after their closing time of 8:00pm (not midnight) they were not there. Another customer said he'd arrive right at 8pm, his reservation time and they had already closed. So we came back early the next day to get the car. They were not too happy to greet us because they were working on a holiday but we received a vehicle nonetheless, we discovered that the A/C wasn't working the next day, and the undercarriage was dragging. We brought it back and the second car they offered was smelling heavily of cigarette smoke. WE apologize for inconveniencing them and asking for a new car. The receptionist begrudgingly asked the car lot manager to get us the smallest thing that they had available (doesn't matter for us, we just wanted to be safe and comfortable) and fuel prices are ridiculous. One huge bright spot was Sydney the car lot manager. I wish every employee in the world, no matter the job or position was more like him. More people in the world should be like him. He never lost his patience, went above and beyond to try and make us comfortable. He tried twice to put my wife and I in a much nicer car, but it wasn't his or our choice. I generally get a complementary upgrade but on this last rental I didn't read what I signed and the $300 reservation was billed at $3,000. So I am visiting friends and family for the holidays and decided instead of taking over my daughter's car I would go rent my own. Seeing as she lives close to the airport we drove the the Hertz located in the Jackskn- Evers airport to see what they had available. As soon as we arrived I immediately noticed a gathering of what I thought were customers being very loud and enjoying themselves. As I got closer I realized that it was in fact the employees of Hertz all grouped together on the Dollar/Thrifty side laughing, talking and cussing up a storm. All were wearing regular jeans and no name tags. I tried to get their attention only to be given a very rude "how dare u" look by a female employee with orange hair. She then said something to her coworker with a hair wrap on. They both then looked in my direction and began laughing then turned their backs to me and began another loud curse filled conversation. All of this took place between 12:45 ans 1pm today. I have never felt so unwelcome and unwanted in any business ever. I never even made it to the counter. After the behavior of the 2 female employees I honestly did not feel safe. I shouldn't have to fight or beg an employee to get them to take my hard earned money just for a car. As I walked back to my daughters car they got even louder. It was more like a tailgate party than a business.
