I hate Hertz's billing system. I return a rental after using it for 13 days, I had a friend return it so I didnt see the final amount, so i am watching my credit card online and I start seeing charges everyday for 7 days of varying amounts! this is after I returned the vehicle so I am upset. So I wait a week(my friend was dealing with hertz on phone) and the charges are still there so the next day we talk to hertz and the charges are gone...They explained that they do that while they process the paper work, pull the charges then do a final bill. That is totally Pig crap! they should put one charge when the vehicle is returned and thats it! So the issue is Hertz rental as a company, this policy is pure crap. read more

Worst ever. Rented from here because this is where my insrance comapny told me to go. Car was disgusting inside. Then upon my return they tried to tell me I had pets in my car ... I did not. I told them I wasn't leaving until they closed my claim and that I was not paying any soft of pet cleaning fee to pay for someone else's dog. I had a last minute need to rent a car. I called and was told the only cars available were compact cars and the rate was ridiculous at $30.00 per day. I then went online, reserved a Full-Sized car for $22 a day. In addition my discount was not applied at the time of my contract and I asked several times and was told yes. The staff is a bit ride and very dry (not welcoming at all). I'm giving three stars because in the end, the Manager (Michael) was very polite and assisted me with another situation involving the car return and everything ended up fine. I will probably never rent from Hertz again but I did appreciate the assistance of the manager. read more

I reserved a car at this location. I was greeted by name when I walked through the door, and the paperwork was handled efficiently. I was told that the gas tank was only half full and I could bring it back that way, and don't worry about the warning light that comes on, "Everything is okay." No problem with any of the above. What I did have a problem with, however, was the condition of the car. I noticed how dirty the exterior was, which I mentioned to the agent. He offered to wash it. Since it was raining and I was in a hurry it seemed pointless. I didn't realize how dirty the interior of the car was until I stopped at the restaurant down the street for lunch. The car had not been vacuumed, beverage spills on the console had not been cleaned up, the steering wheel was sticky, and there were fingerprints all over the back windows. For a company that claims to be #1, I find this totally unacceptable. This is the last time I rent from this location. read more

Beware of Hertz. After renting a car from this location, they have been trying to fraudulently charge me $26 for using their "PlatePass" system, claiming I had a toll violation. I explicitly declined using this system, and after going through a toll, paid the toll online using the Illinois Tollway Authority website. A few weeks later I get a bill from Hertz saying that because the car went through a toll gantry, I owe them $26 bucks, even though the toll was paid. I sent them a credit card receipt and screen shots indicating the toll was paid. Hertz continues to send me a bill. I will never do business with these scam artists ever again. HORRIBLE service. Do not rent from this location. I rented a car to take a personal trip to Nashville about a month ago. When I picked up the car (Nissan versa) it was FILTHY. The windows were streaked, no windshield wiper fluid, parking stickers still stuck to the inside of the window, smelled like cigarettes and even had a burn hole in the seat. I called and they told me to just buy fluid and wipes and they would reimburse me for the purchase. When I brought the car back Andrew took my information, receipts from purchase, and said someone would be contacting me to reimburse me for the fluid and also a portion of the rental. A few weeks go by and not a word. Call back again and spoke with Andrew who didn't know where any of my paper work was and made me search for my receipt and rental number so he could once again submit it to his manager. Fine. Wait ANOTHER two weeks and still nothing. Called and he tells me I should just call customer service. Really? Calling customer service wasn't much better. I had an $11 balance on the rental and was told the best they could do was to credit my Hertz account $11 because everything else would "take too long". I will never rent with Hertz again. Renting a vehicle through Hertz was the worst mistake I've made in 2017. As a frequent traveler, renting a vehicle for my family has never been an issue. I rented a seven passenger minivan online prior to my arrival in Houston, TX. The prepaid up front fees were $190.00. Upon my arrival, the local representative suggested I go with the eight passenger minivan for $45 extra per day. The whole idea behind an eight passenger minivan was to have a more comfortable ride. Traveling with elderly people and children can be a challenge. I agreed to pay the additional $45 per day for the additional "seat". Needless to say, this "upgrade" was a mistake. I ended up with a basic minivan that not only was uncomfortable, but it was malfunctioning! The sliding doors jammed and I had more bells and whistles in my 95' Honda Civic. When I returned this "upgraded" minivan on Thursday, I let the gentleman at the front desk know about the issues with this minivan. He was nice enough to tell me, " we are aware of the issues and there is a recall out on this vehicle". Of course this information was never relayed to me at the beginning of my trip. At this point, my rental turned out to be $620 for five days. That's $124 per day for a low end minivan with 1/2 of an additional seat, recalled doors and busted mirrors. Turo, a local competitor had the Infinity Qx80 for $70 a day. Instead, I ended up hustled into a Toyota Sienna for $124 a day. To top this off, I had to deal with incompetent Hertz representatives from start to finish. I attempted to address the situation initially but the manager refused to resolve the mess his staff created. I will never use Hertz again and I will make sure that none one my friends, family and even clients ever use you guys. read more

I had the most horrible experience with them. I booked a rental from home. Took an uber and travelled to this agency just to find out they don't have any cars. Why did the even allow me to book a car at this location when this location hard none. I have never encountered this with National or Enterprise. Perfect example of how not to run a business. I was getting a rental arranged by an insurance company. Be prepared to wait, be prepared to call multiple times only to be put on a "brief hold" for 15 minutes and be prepared that nothing will be ready for you. My rental cart was dirty with hundreds of insects glued to it (white car) and I was explained that their water was not hooked up and they could not wash it. If you need to have them pick you up or drop you off - rest assure there will be problems and it will take forever. I will avoid this place at all cost in the future. read more

We were moving our daughter out of her dorm and needed a van. After 3 attempts with no one answering the phone, they finally answered and confirmed we would have a van. We get there when they opened and they indeed had a van but there were no keys!! We then took a large SUV and the gas tank was less than 1/8 full! The engine light and stability light were on as well! She said the service light was on because it just wasn't reset after changing the oil. We shouldn't have taken the car but we were desperate. The car drove horribly and we had to swap out at the Moline airpot. WTH! I just talked to Daniel and he is going to credit us the rental. No questions just comp for the inconvenience. read more

ZERO stars. I should have seen so many bad reviews before reserving and visiting this place. This place should be closed and fire its dumb employees working here. My wife made a reservation to travel to St. Louis. When we arrived there, there are only 2 people ahead of us. It took an hour to serve those 2 customers. When our turn came, they said our reservation was canceled and they forgot to call us. What!! we just saw each other and laughed. Then we have to rush to the train station 45 min away and catch a train. Wow, it as a perfect Monday :) While at the rental location, I heard a male employee saying that a female employee went to another location instead of coming here, and was mocking that employees should know where they work. Returned my car and left my garage opener in it. Came back in 10 mins at exactly 6:05. I can see the employee sitting in the room banging on the door he refuses to come out. So I call hertz and I ask them they say keep banging on the door. Finally comes out and says we close at 6 and we open tomorrow. Told him and I get attitude back. What terrible customer service. My father and I needed a last minute rental that our car insurance set up for us at this Hertz location. As we arrived the sales associate said he cancelled the request but gave no reason as to why. The sales associate had a very bad attitude, some young guy, who refused to confirm the request via our insurance company in order to get the proper rate. Once everything was corrected they gave us a car that wasn't not washed or had a full tank of gas. We asked another associate about it who ignored us as he was on his cell phone clearly having a personal conversation not work related. My wife's parents visited for 3 days and she rented a car from this location for their use. The reservation went well, the car was decent and it was returned on time. A few days after it was returned, we noticed that she was erroneously charged $40 for overages. To add insult to injury, we started getting daily charges of $100 to $250 for about 6 days. In all, the credit card was charged about $900 over what was rightfully owed. Several calls have been placed to Hertz. They have acknowledged the wrong charges but we still got the usual corporate run-around: "I thought it was already handled. Call us again in 3 days if it isn't fixed by then." After a week of this nonsense, we finally went through the bank. The charges have been temporarily removed from the card while the bank tries to get more information from the company. The manager was rude. I reserved a car and when I arrived I was immediately rejected. He told me he doesn't accept any debit cards or cash. Which is crazy. So we drove a hertz rental from Naperville to Metairie Louisiana and they gave us the location of the Metairie Holiday in to drop it off. When we got to the hotel they had NO idea what we were talking about and would not take the car from us because they didn't want to be responsible for it. So they gave us the location of the nearby Hertz to drop it off but it was closed and had no drop off box. So we called customer service and they were absolutely no help. Fast forward 2 HOURS later and we're told to go to the Hertz at the New Orleans airport. When we get there they tried to charge us an $80 fee for taking it to the wrong location! So we obviously told them to wave that fee because it wasn't our fault and we also tried to get more money taking off because they totally inconvenienced us. Instead of giving us some type of credit or certificate they acted like they were doing us a huge favor for not charging us the $80 we weren't supposed to pay anyway. Overall they ruined our trip to New Orleans by making us spend the fist half of our day trying to drop off their rental car. Go to Enterprise instead. Hertz was a terrible inconvenience. read more

I made online reservation as guest and did not choose any coverage (LDW, LIS etc..). I had a week rental, when I took the keys I did not see the paper and simply signed it which is my fault. However I had the reservation details with me which I printed with "Pay Now" option in which there was no other insurance coverage accepted other than car rental. After a week when I returned the car I saw that there are $13.95 and $6.95 per day is applied on top of weekly rental. Car key (remote) was not having nob and it was wrapped by tape. There was scratches but no inspection report given. Staff at this location (910 East Ogden Avenue) was not ready to listen and not supportive. I was told that it is the only car left and there is no other option however I could see 4 mid size car available and parked at this location when I come to pick up. Summary: Terrible service, unprofessional, understaffed, misleading, and incompetent. My explanation is long winded but I wanted whoever is reading to understand the utter exasperation you will face when working with Hertz. They are absolutely useless, nothing I was promised was given; not the time, comparable car, or even a clean car. The Hertz Corporation should clean house and decide to actually try and operate an ethical and professional business. I am glad I work at a very large company that uses Hertz all the time because I will make sure they drop them and that none of my friends or acquaintances ever use them again. I am going to post this review on every ratings site and call customer service until Hertz decides to take some sort of accountability for the awful service they offer. My car has been hit twice in the past year and required a rental while body work could be done at Accurate Auto Body. I went through Hertz because it is located within a couple miles of the shop. During the summer I was hit and I scheduled a time for them to pick me up at the shop and called again the morning of to confirm. 40 minutes after they were scheduled to arrive they showed up. To their credit they apologized and gave me a "fully loaded" car at no extra cost. To their discredit the "fully loaded" Chevy didn't even have all the standard features my base model Civic has. I was also 45 minutes late to work because of their incompetence and a slightly better car doesn't help that very much. Fast forward to the winter- my car was hit again while parked on the street. I scheduled a pickup through Hertz . When I called, I was transferred 3 different times, I had to tell each person all of my information policy numbers license numbers names insurance, and then I was transferred to another person who seemed to have no idea why I was transferred to them and I had to retell them. After a 20 minute call I was done. 3 weeks later I got a call from Hertz asking if I was still interested in renting a car from them because they had no record of me calling before. I had the prior call confirmation number and after I had told them all of my information for the 4th time, they were able to find the reservation in their system. At this point I should have been prepared for utter incompetence but I tried to stay positive. I called to confirm 2 days before my pickup just in case and they said everything is ready and I would receive a comparable car but I should call the day of to "remind them". Can they not schedule it themselves?? The morning of I called an hour before and told them that I would be at the shop between 9:10am and 9:20am. They showed up at 9:45am after 2 calls from the auto body shop and myself. I had waited outside for 25 minutes (it was -2 degrees outside and windy). The same girl showed up that was late last time in a dirty, snow, and ice covered Mazda. She drove me back to the shop while never apologizing for being late instead she kept trying to make small talk. At the Hertz location I asked again to confirm that I would be receiving a comparable car and they said "yes, definitely". I asked if it had Bluetooth, Pandora, or a rearview camera, they said, "No but it has Skyactive technology." This would be comical if it was happening on TV but they were serious... How does having a different transmission and drivetrain make up for all the missing features they originally promised? How they can work for a car rental company and have no idea what is in their cars or what it means amazes me. It turns out the dirty Mazda she showed up in was the one they were giving me. It had ice and snow on the windows, sticky stuff all over the console and the cup holders. The steering wheel had food on it and the car had a quarter tank of gas. So at this point I was over an hour late for work and now had to go fill the tank. read more

I had a horrible experience and have not gone back. I rented a vehicle on August 30th and parked my personal vehicle in the lot, when I came back that day to return the rental car and pick up my personal vehicle, a car was parked behind my personal vehicle so I couldn't take it out. I had already returned the rental car keys, otherwise, I would've driven it home. I took a Lyft home and have been trying to get the $14 taxi fare ever since I rented the car, I received a check this week but it was not made payable to me. Have rented cars here for 3 occasions. The first time I was there before they opened . The so-called manager was not even awake to help me. He didn't even bother to tell me that there was a specific way to use the car. It is a 2016 and my last car was 21 years old. How this technology works was beyond me. I called and asked for instructions. He acted like I was disrupting his life. Prior to my reservation, it took 3 calls to even get the reservation. Second time the guy John didn't even want me to inspect the car. He said it was O.K. It wasn't loaded with scratches. The third time I returned the car early. It is now 3 days later and I am getting calls saying I didn't return the car. I did. Haven't heard back from them to say we checked the car back in. Lastly every time I rent a car they put a hold on my account for 7 days!!!!!. I am still waiting for the return of my deposit. I will never rent from this locale again ever.If I see there is additional charge I have no problem calling corporate as well as the Chamber of Commerce in Naperville along with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I have been a generally been a loyal hertz customer and think highly of them. However, this location is a total different ball game. I rented a ;mini van that was not properly cleaned and seemed like the automatic doors on the side did not work work at all. I decided to take some of the pictures of food that was left over from the previous rental. I did not have time to change it as was running late to drop my son to college. On my return, I causally mentioned it to the person at the counter that it was not clean. He got very defensive about it and made it sound like I was falsely accusing them. Fortunately, I had taken pictures and tried showing him the left over food. This is were things got interesting he threatened me with additional charges and asked me to leave. I have never seen a customer service like this. I will never rent from this place...they seem be very understaffed and really don't get the concept of customer service. read more
