    I rented a car from this location and once I got to the location they closed 4 hours earlier than stated on their business page.

The passenger seat was stuck and would not slide forward, creating a major inconvenience for our trip. I asked if someone could assist with the seat or if I could bring the van in for a quick repair. I was told there was nothing they could do at the downers grove location and that I could take the rental to O'Hare airport to see if they can assist (this location was 40 min away from me). As a result, our trip was delayed by more than two hours. When I requested compensation for the inconvenience, I was told that no refund would be provided and that I would only receive a credit toward a future rental. Considering this experience, I have no intention of renting from Hertz again. To make matters worse, when I asked for the manager's name, Jaime refused to provide his last name and told me I could get it when I returned the vehicle. The rudest manager I've ever encountered. This was by far the worst rental car experience I've ever had. I would not recommend this location, especially if you have to deal with management. Customers deserve better service, communication, and support when issues arise with a rental vehicle.

I could go into all of the details but after doing this to numerous 'customer service' agents, I'm worn out so I'll just give the highlights...the first car they provided had bald tires. So bald you could see the wear indicators. Our trip was 2,400 miles round trip through the mountains, not happening. Our exchange had a key fob that stopped working 800 miles in which means you have to use the key to open the doors which sets the alarm off until you start the car by pressing the fob against the start button. This is alot of fun for a week long trip and yes, we replaced the batteries. The wipers were also useless but we were overlooking that. Contacted roadside assistance who found (yet another) exchange but since the only location near our destination is a franchise, they wanted a $300-$400 hold ON TOP OF the $200 hold we already placed. I know they're going to respond to this with an apology but we already gave their 'unresolved issues' department a chance to help us out & that's all we got from them. Oh sorry, they gave us enough points for a free day but since this nightmare was prepaid, it's useless as we'll NEVER use them again.

There are many reasons why I do this (and I've done this at least a dozen times). When I come to Chicago, I often do not need a car for the first several days of my trip, so I don't need to rent from the airport shortly after arrival. However, even if I did need to have a car from the the outset, I would probably opt to take Lyft or Uber from O'Hare to Naperville. Why? Because unlike the airport lots, which charge all sorts of taxes and concession recovery fees that add about 60% to the base rental rates, at this location the added fees come to less than 10%. Also, because this is a small location, service has always been very quick. And as soon as your paperwork is settled, they pull the car right up to the front, so all you have to do is step out the door and into your waiting car. There are some drawbacks, of course. If you walk into this location without a reservation, it is possible that there may be a very limited selection - or even no cars at all. Also, you will be limited in what you can rent. With some advance planning, however, you can avoid these pitfalls. I always come here with a reservation, and there has always been a car for me. Sometimes I even luck out by getting a upgrade to an SUV or minivan (yes, for me a minivan is an upgrade).

I drove it up to Fond du Lac Wisconsin…read morefor work, was there for two days and then tried driving back on 6/25 just after 11am. 20 minutes into my drive, while on the highway doing 70mph, the car lurched and then the dashboard lit up showing the vehicle was overheating. I popped the hood and come to find there is basically no oil in the brand new vehicle. They were unable to get a tow truck to me quickly stating it would be 2 hours from when they were first notified of this issue and given an address for the driver to meet me at. I then drove roughly 3-4 miles from where I was at to West Bend only to find that the Enterprise is no longer there, luckily the car salesman directed me to where the new spot was 1.5 miles down the road. Since this occurred, I have had no response from the branch on how to rectify this issue and ensure other customers are not put into a dangerous situation due to their gross negligence. This also caused me to miss several scheduled work meetings that I traveled to up from the Dallas area. Terrible service on the vehicles by them and even worse customer service after the incident occurred. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

I flew into O'Hare but ended up renting all the way in Glendale Heights. Renting in Glendale Heights vs O'Hare made a $500 difference in the rental. No I am not kidding. That is how nuts rentals are right now. I have great friends who took me to/from the airport each way so it didn't end up being a huge hassle. The guy working the front desk was friendly, quick, easy to work with and personable. Getting through the check in process was very fast but waiting for the rental took a bit of time. I think I waited ~20 minutes after checking in for the car to come back from an oil change. It was freshly washed though, so that was nice. I don't think they checked the car thoroughly before handing it off to me because I found a Reese's Peanut Butter Cups wrapper between the seats (it was hidden but grossed me out & made me hungry at the same time when I found it). Plus, there were some fishing hooks hooked into the trunk which my friend was able to pry off. Returning the car was even more simple, just returned the keys and I was good to go! Was my experience perfect? No, but it wasn't bad in any way and I would recommend and rent from this location again.

Their policies in fine print are excruciatingly complex and it's never in your favor. Want a nice luxury sedan too bad you had a reservation and paid in advance we don't have one and don't care. Was stuck an hour on the telephone to get my money refunded for the econo box they downgraded me to while the npc just sat there on his phone watching Tik Tok videos. Note: The car was the worst part of our trip which was cross country. Please don't make the mistake I made since I was in a hurry to get out of this hole; Gave us a half tank of gas but expect you to pay for full on return. Please get it in writing how much gas was in the tank. A Gold member does not mean anything nor you get anything beneficial from them. Its a worse experience than shady dealerships but at least you know what you are getting into from them. Sadly Hertz mission statement should now be "To be the lowest quality, highest cost and most painful customer service rental company in every market we serve, we only create value for our shareholders."
