Someone recently hit our vehicle, so while it was in the shop, the insurance company got us a rental from here. I've got to honestly say the wonderful people at Hertz sure made it easier on us by being so amazing and always willing to help and answers questions. We picked up the vehicle on Oct 21st, put down a $50 deposit which we were aware of beforehand. From arrival to departing Hertz, it took less than 30 minutes, now everything was mostly already taken care of by the time we got there, so that could be why it was so quick. I got a brand new beautiful blue Nissan, which drove like a dream. We had the car from October 21, 2025 to November 11, 2025 and during that time, Hertz kept up with us about our extensions and anything else we needed to be aware of. On 11-11-25 we returned the car after gasing it up and getting it cleaned, the return took about 20 minutes, everything went great and we got a compliment on how nice the car looked and smelled. Based on this experience, I'd definitely come back as a future customer and I would recommend Hertz to friend's and family. read more

Why is there always a fight! Rented a car at Pensacola Airport and waited an hour to get a car. Then upon return 3 days later without a hitch, so I thought. I was overcharged for an additional 3 hours, when it fact I returned 2 hours early. There are so many hidden fees, I was charged almost $200 than my original quote that already consisted the taxes. For instance, initially I was quoted $45.48 for a concession fee recovery, but when the final receipt was emailed I was charged $60.00...wtf! I drove my friend to Hertz. She entered the office to get her already reserved a vehicle. We arrived at 940 am for the 930 reservation. She came back out and told me they were washing the vehicle. At about 1045 am the vehicle was still not ready. My friend walked back into the office and told them not to bother with the wash, she would just take the vehicle unwashed. At about 1100 am they brought the vehicle. We loaded the vehicle in approximately 5 minutes. As I attempted to leave the parking lot, another one of Hertz big van blocked the driveway. I walked into the office and told them we were attempting to leave and they had blocked both of our vehicles in. The employee looked at me and said alright he will be out in a little bit. No one moved. I got loud and asked how long, I received no answer. As I walked out someone from the other side of the fence yelled asking me if something was wrong. I yelled back yes we have been here for over an hour and now cannot leave because we are blocked. I told my friend in the rent a car that we were blocked in. I then went back to my vehicle. Then another women possible a manager came out and asked me if there was a problem. I told her yes we were blocked in and she became sarcastic with me. It was a shame that they knew we were attempting to leave and did not want to wait anymore, as we had been there for over one hour already. Super frustrating trip, and I thought Hertz would be apart of that. When I got there, my flight was late and I didn't get in before this location closed. So I waited till Saturday when they have limited hours. I had a busy schedule so when they "upgraded me" to a better car I didn't question it till too late. I had a midsized car (for me and family and our luggage) and got "upgraded" to a mini cooper. There was no room. I didn't have time to fix it then, and they were closed Sunday. I finally made it in again Monday. They claimed it was an upgrade because the mini cooper was a "luxury" car, but an upgrade should have matched what I was getting space wise. They did get me into a better car that fit what my family needed as far as space goes, so 5*'s for the quick turnaround in fixing their mistake. Edit: 0 stars for lies. I was told I would get a discount for the two days that we did not have the space we were booked for. It's been over a week, and my deposit has not even been returned, and there has been no credit for those two days. I called corporate, they claim the deposit is released, but he could not get past "reassuring" me that I was not charged extra when that was not the purpose of my call. He did tell me that I was apparently not upgraded at all and somehow a midsized car like a Mazda is equivalent to a mini cooper that rates as a compact car. My car broke down in Pensacola the night before, and after a Toyota employee brought me to Hertz, Keke assisted me in getting a rental. She not only provided excellent service but also helped me save money. Throughout the week, I called her several times with questions and to adjust my insurance coverage, and she was always very helpful. I'm not sure why this place has bad reviews. I have rented cars from all of the majors, most of the up and coming, and a few of the local independent guys around the country and overseas. So I have had a full spectrum of experiences. So this site is not at the airport...about 3 miles away. There is a Hertz at the Pensacola airport, but due to airport policies, this location cannot service airport travelers...no pick or drop off. You must use the Hertz group in the terminal if you want to rent or drop off your vehicle at the airport. The rental office is really lacking and outdated. The staff is average in providing customer service. But I've experienced much better service at nearly all other Hertz locations. So by comparison, no so good. I was on a long term rental. My employer requires us to "zero balance" monthly...meaning we have them charge our credit card. According to both the national call center and local office, that meant I had to physically show up with the vehicle. Then they'd process a new contract. The problem with that was that it meant your rate would change...I only saw it stay the same or go up. All the other majors allow you to call in the mileage to zero balance. Now this location is central within the city. Staff told me they are constantly renting vehicles. But the lot is fairly beat up. It also has an unmarked and unprotected split level lot that's hard to see. Meaning you can easily drive over the curb! A staff member told me someone drives over it about once per day. My compact vehicle, a Ford Fiesta, had useable features. It got good mileage too. But there is no gas cap on the vehicle and the filler door doesn't lock either. Luckily no one stole gas that I could tell. But obviously, someone could easily dump something into my gas tank. My car also made a weird sound. I think it may have just been a tire but it might have been something mechanical. I mentioned it at my monthly visits, but was never offered another vehicle in exchange. I wouldn't recommend renting this particular car. Overall, my experience was below average when compared to other Hertz locations. Keep in mind that some locations are national rental offices and some are franchise offices, like this one. From my experience, there's definitely a disconnect here...probably something to do with money. Regardless, I think the customer experience should be similar regardless of rental location. Your experience here will probably be different. I'm on the line on whether or not I would recommend this particular rental location. If you choose the next closest location, the airport instead, you'll get extra fees. read more

The place is operates at a snails pace, it's run down and they don't clean their cars until you are on their property. We were super stressed to find out that all of Pensacola was out of rental cars. We'd rented a larger vehicle from New Orleans to Pensacola (to accommodate the whole family) and were hoping to rent a smaller economy vehicle for just two of us to head back to New Orleans earlier than everyone else. Keke was SO kind, professional, and brought our stress from a 10 to a 1 within a matter of seconds. It was clear with the customer in front of us as well as with us that she gives 100% to every interaction and makes everyone feel special. She helped us problem solve and gave us the best possible deal, saving us a ton of money and helping us to get a car (by re-renting the one we'd brought out at a lower rate) when none were available! I booked a rental car online and scheduled the time for pick up. Once here the car they go to give me is filthy inside. Not surprised because the inside of the location is gross. Floors are dirty, chairs are white and there are black handprints all over them, everything about the office screams pop up location that looks like it will be shut down any day. I'm dealing with some health concerns where I can't do justice, to leaving the proper type of review I would like at the moment. Please understand that this location has had an influx of customers due to recent hurricane activity nearby in Panama City in the not-too-distant past. I can tell I had a going above and beyond was trying to help customers and trying to juggle a lot of different things simultaneously a time so please try to be patient with them. This location is well managed. Everyone I have seen there had had a good amount of etiquette and patience and understanding with customers who may be a bit frazzled due to stress and difficult life situations. Was quoted at a decent rate for a long term rental through my bank. After I returned the car I received a bill that was almost %300 of the agreed upon rental rate. Essentially I was charged over $100 a day for one of their smallest economy cars. After 30 mins with billing (mostly on hold) I was told that they may be able to do something to fix the situation but I'd have to wait 3-5 business days to see what actually gets put on my credit card and to call back then. The insurance company taking care of my vehicle scheduled the reservation for me. I arrived to pick up my rental and the gentleman helping me was very helpful and personable. The vehicle chosen for me was very appealing, and I was happy with the overall cleanliness. The issue I have upon pick up, was the gas tank was well below E. The mile range was 7 miles until empty, the car started to stutter on my way to the closest gas station. The associate did offer to gas the Tahoe up for me, however I was running short on time and did not wish to wait. Do not rent here. I made my reservation for 5 pm and nowhere on reservation does it state they close at 5 pm. I prepaid for "contactless" rental and gave my flight info. Our flight was slightly delayed and my friend and I and our four children arrived in our two Ubers at 5:25. The manager Carlos comes to the door to tell us they're closed and will not give us the vehicle, despite the fact there is another employee at the desk. He argues with us that there was no way I booked my reservation at 5 pm, but I showed it to him. He then points to the sign that says they close at that 5, as if I made the rental in person. When we beg for any shred of kindness or mercy, as we're standing outside with four children, a bunch of luggage in a sketchy part of town, he gives us weird excuses that he's "got a meeting," "not in uniform," and "not in his office," despite us standing right next to it. One of our Uber drivers heard what was happening, and he calls Hertz for us to make a complaint, he was so flabbergasted. After arguing and begging with him for over 15 minutes, another employee comes to the door to start arguing too. In the amount of time they spent arguing with us they could have given us the vehicle. It was extremely bizarre- as if they enjoyed doing this to customers. We sat outside the steps for the next 30 minutes to call Hertz corporate and trying to secure another rental while Carlos sat inside eating a salad.
