They charged me a cleaning fee on a perfectly clean car! Scam! They are giving me hassles with recovering the money. The car was driven from the airport, stopped to drop home my luggage, and brought it to this location for drop-off. It was after hours, so I dropped the key in the slot with paperwork. Get my bill, and huge charge. They don't have any explanation written for what was "dirty." The car was not smoked in, nothing spilled, nothing even left inside! They are giving me a hard time and did not call back for 3 weeks. I finally called again and am starting from square one. Ugh! read more

"HURTS" is the WORST place I have EVER rented a car from! I was in Poughkeepsie, NY on business. I rented a Nissan Altima, (by the way horrific in the snow). I called customer service (1800#) to explain the importance of having a safe and reliable vehicle. The one I was given SHOOK LIKE HELL at 60 MPH. (I was planning on driving car 10hrs round trip to visit immediate family that I haven't seen in 3 yrs.) They told me to call back in morning, so when I called in morning they responded just as ignorant as the first time, "nothing available and nothing we can do about it". Next, I requested that a technician would please at least come inspect car for safety for my long trip ahead... I did receive the luxury to stay on hold for a half hour just for them to tell me they couldn't meet that simple and safe request. I eventually returned car (failing to visit family that is 2400 miles from where I presently live), and I neglected to notice 4 personal items remaining in the car upon returning car...phone charger, a 3.5mm wire to connect phone to car stereo,mouse for laptop, and a high dollar pair of sunglasses. I am absolutely positive that I left these items in the car. When I returned a day later to claim items, (I waited for about 20 min with 2 employees working and only one customer inside store). Employee claimed that there were NO items found. I stated to (what I believe was) the "manager"; I was positive those specific items were in car and car was LOCKED upon departing it. Un-doubtingly I was inattentive for forgetting items behind (not trying to excuse myself from my own responsibility, but I did return car when it was pitch dark outside. The dome light didn't work and I couldn't see in the POORLY lit parking lot). One would presume that out of 4, I would've received min of 1 item back. Shame on me for ASS-uming people still had integrity. If that wasn't enough, I was given a car with 3/4 tank of gas; I looked at paperwork (but of coarse, a day before returning the piece of sh%$) and the paperwork falsely stated it had a FULL TANK upon pick up :\ Why even argue with the fraudulent staff? Rented a 7 passenger SUV for a day when I went out to the SUV it's bumper was falling off dents and scratches all over it and the rims were damaged and the interior was filthy I told the staff about the damages and she said it's probably already noted and they don't have any other suvs to change me into. I went inside to cancel it because I'm not going to take it due to its condition and another employee told me he will switch me into a another SUV newer and with less miles on it. Let's start with the customer "service" I care very little to recall. I walked in the morning of 3/29, I sat down with a girl whose personality could have used a booster, to put it mildly. No handshake, no smile. She assigned me a car, mentioned it had some scuff marks on the rear bumper, yet couldn't even take a few minutes to accompany me outside to check the car. Needless to say, I looked it over and it was marked up in many areas. I go back inside to alert her and she is already with another customer. She sent out a colleague instead who seemed to share in her lackluster attitude. As if the human experience couldn't get any worse, I drove away in a Nissan Versa that REEKED of smoke, to the point that I exited the car, each time, with a migraine. How dare you rent out a vehicle with a stench so toxic. Allow me to end on a positive note, with some words of advice. Perhaps you can shadow the folks over in Newburgh Enterprise. They are well-versed in REAL customer experience. read more

Interior of Car was not cleaned. There was dog hair all over the seat and dashboard. It was one of the worst car rental experience since my wife and I both have allergies. I ended up cleaning the interior of the car myself since the rental office was already closed when we noticed the dog hair. read more

Hertz rental from Tampa Airport to Sarasota.....quickest pickup / drop off experience ever....

Rep told me gas in car was full and the gauge was broken, So I received the car at 3/4 tank, drove 80 miles and put in 4+ gallons of gas and guess what??? The gauge went to full. So I was duped out of some gas. Car smelled of smoke, stains on seat and dust on inside of car. Never use this office! Actually use another rental agency!! Then I called customer service and they said that they couldn't help me. Asked for a supervisor, and was told someone would call me back within 2 hours. Still waiting!! read more

The office is understaffed and run by kids in their early 20's and customer service is poor. They ignore phone calls most of the time. I wound up paying more money in the end because I could not reach anyone on the phone to make a decision about the return time of my rental. Avoid this place if you can. read more

I am a regular Hertz customer. When I first starter renting they let me know all the ins and outs of car rentals. Well needless to say I pay way too much for car insurance so I always take full coverage. Why have my insurance cover a car I'm unfamiliar with that I will have for an average of a few days. Its gotten me out of some sticky situations. Ex: I've got into an accident, went to Hertz and the first question they asks was was I OK? I filled out a report and received another car instantly. Actually while I was there someone else came in who had an accident and they had to call his insurance company and file a claim. He was mad because he couldn't afford his deductible and his premium went up. Their staff has always been very helpful, they even offer a free pick up service and as long as there is staff available I have never had an issue. They have restrictions they have to stick to but how can u complain about free service? As the only location in poughkeepsie they are very busy and run differently than other Hertz I've been to. Off airport locations are in the business to get people cars who are having their personal cars fixed. They have 4x the amount of reservations than their neighboring locations that's why they're different. But easily understandable why gold customers wait in line like everyone else. They are not an airport. They've always had good service and good cars, I will b a life long customer read more

The Hertz I mostly use is a small office, located near my work location and 15 mins. from my home. I use it for both business and personal travel. They always go out of their way to make me happy. The cars I rent are always nearly new, clean and in very good condition. I'm a Gold member so when I pick up at airports my name and car location are posted on the borad, I just get in and drive away. No stopping at the desk or waiting in line. I have a vacation home in Florida and use the Orlando airport Hertz, several times a year. When I drop off on my way home, one of the Hertz attendants always gets in the car and drives up and drops us off at our Terminal. This is a very nice service and saves us from draging our luggage onto the shuttle and through the airport. I could use other car rental companies, but I perfer Hertz. read more
