This Hertz rental is conveniently located in Santa Rosa airport; the land of Snoopy and Charles Schultz. I picked a Chevy Malibu that had not been properly cleaned and had to return to Hertz to get another car. The new car was located not too far in their holding station. Unfortunately the car had only 3/4 of a tank. When I returned the car no one was at the counter. I waited for 5 minutes and had to leave. Left the key on the counter so I do hope that I will not encounter any problems. Overall the experience was fine as I love this small airport. I also understand that such a small facility does not have a lot of staff. The gentleman at the counter was very courteous and helpful. So overall my experience was positive. read more

Having pre-booked and pre-paid for a full size pick-up months in advance, we were greeted by the Hertz agent "Amber" telling us "we don't have full size trucks here". She continued, " we have a small Tacoma" (compact pick up) and "you can take it or leave it" Out of the blue such a surly attitude. Wow. I follow with "can you then put me into something full size, a car if not a truck? Being on the mend from a recent knee surgery, the full size aspect is critical part". Amber: "No" I am voiding your reservation" Me: "We need a car, we will take the Tacoma" Per Hertz policy, we are required to take the Tacoma with a full tank and return it with a full tank. Upon arriving at the Tacoma, the tank is less than half full. Back inside, (on my new knee, fun) to the same counter agent..."our tank is less than half full, can you note the contract and we will bring it back with the same fuel level." Amber: "No. Bring it back full, that's what the contract calls for". But "that's unreasonable for me to pay to fill a half empty tank of gas" Amber: "Too bad, I don't care. Like I told you take it or leave it. I am already five vehicles short this morning and someone else will take this Tacoma happily in two minutes." I ask for the manager, "He's on the phone" I ask for her name, "I don't have to tell you that, my name is "reservation agent" Thankfully, the Avis representative at the adjacent counter says, "Her name is Amber" At that time I ask the Avis representative, can you help us? He says I'd like to earn your business, I will put you in any a vehicle I have for whatever rate they had quoted you". Stay away from this operation. I flew into Santa Rosa on a Friday night and our flight was slightly delayed. I thought it wouldn't be an issue because I had attached my flight information to my reservation, so they knew it was delayed (by 30 minutes!). When I got to the counter, there was no one there and someone at the counter for ACE told me the worker left 30 minutes before. I ended up renting a car through them (and had a much more pleasant customer service experience), but it was more money. from Hertz. When I called Hertz at the airport the next morning about a refund, she told me that she couldn't help me and I needed to call customer service. I finally did and now I am waiting 7-10 days for a refund. I am extremely disappointed. Hertz has had my money since the end of September and were not able to accommodate me. Get a hard copy of your vehicle return statement. I dropped off our rental a couple of hours before the return deadline. Five days later I get a text from Hertz vehicle control inquiring about when am I going to return the vehicle. I called the number and spent 30 minutes on the phone while the Hertz person filled out a form to be sent to this location to ask them to close out the rental. Hertz Santa Rosa Airport is supposed to call me in 24-48 hours to confirm closure. So it's technically still unresolved. This took an hour after a 5 hour flight delay. To top it off, once we got to our car, we were blocked in! NEVER USE HERTZ (aka HURTS). They are fraudsters! Do NOT do a one way or any rental with them. Period. Dot. We needed a one way rental, because we were picking up a truck that we were buying in Santa Rosa, CA. We're a family of 3. The Santa Fe Hertz was short-staffed and running behind. We had to wait an hour and a half to get the rental that they didn't get a chance to clean. When we got to Santa Rosa they took a $500 deposit that they said would be refunded in a number of days. Not only did they not refund us our $500, but they accused us of having dogs in the car and claimed that the cleaning fee was $500. (We have multiple witnesses including the man who sold us our truck who met us at the airport that we had no dogs with us in California). Our credit card company is fighting them on our behalf. Wow. Unfortunately flight delays happen when traveling and in flight you can't make phone calls. I was 1 hr and 45 minutes late. If you prepaid your Hertz rental car for the discount they offer for prepayment you won't get a refund either, no matter how many times you dispute the charge through your credit card company. Rented through Priceline, needed to make a change to the drop off location from one airport to another that is just an hour away. Priceline offered no help told me to call Hertz which has the unstated policy of " F++k the customer". Couldn't change the drop off location even though car rental companies transfer vehicles between airports all the time. Couldn't change date of drop off and get a refund for the unused day. Not even worth 1 star. Horrible experience!! I made a reservation with Hertz at the Santa Rosa airport a month in advance. I called the day before to confirm that a car would be ready at 9 am on Friday. I got a ride to pick up the rental car. We drive an hour. When I arrived at the airport location at 9 am I was told that they didn't have any cars available and that I could be out in a waiting list. I asked why they didn't call to notify that they didn't have a car for me today. The representative said she didn't have time to call 30 people to let them know there weren't any cars. How can she be busy when she doesn't have any cars to rent. There were no customers in line and there was another representative sitting at the counter doing nothing as well. When asked why there no cars to rent she that they were waiting for cars to be returned I. The next 2 to 3 hours but no specific time could be confirmed. I hassled to talk to a supervisor and she handed me a flimsy faded photocopy that I could barely read for the regional manger that is located in Sacramento. There was no phone number. Just an email. I will definitely be contacting hertz and tracking down a person to share my utter disappointment and frustration with my experience at this location. Hertz should be appalled. read more

When we politely inquired what solutions they could offer, they rudely said none. The manager was a complete tool incapable of managing anyone or any situation. The worst customer experience! Hertz has fallen so far since the pandemic. I have rented from Hertz many times and currently have Presidents Circle status. This location closes at 6 and their computer system shuts off automatically. Our flight was delayed and we arrived at the counter at 6:02 to be informed they could not honor our reservation, leaving us without a car. Why ask for flight information if you aren't going to use it. And if you will be closing at a certain time and not able to honor a reservation, please communicate that upfront so your customers know what they are getting in to. When talking with the other rental car companies, this is a consistent issue and customers are often left stranded by Hertz. I would give a negative star review if possible. Wow, wish I read these reviews before I rented, or rather attempted to rent, a car from this location. I am a fairly frequent Hertz customer, President's Circle member, and generally have been happy with the service given by other Hertz locations. Anyway, I booked a vehicle a month in advance for a weekend trip to wine country but when I approached the counter at the Santa Rosa airport to pick up my keys I was told there were no vehicles available, None. It wasn't a matter of being too late or early, I arrived at my reserved time, no apologies, just we have no vehicles, deal with it. They could put me on the waiting list but had no idea when or if a vehicle would be available. Awesome start to our weekend! Luckily next door at Ace Rental they had an oversized, gas-guzzling boat of an SUV available for about $150 more than my reservation with Hertz. It was the only vehicle remaining, so I took it. Walked to the Ace lot and found the lone car in the area, however next lot over was the Hertz lot with 5 vehicles parked! (Pic attached). Tried calling their number to get a quick, direct answer on if I could do a one-way/different dropoff rental-- hey, it's sometimes quicker to get someone to answer over the phone than having to navigate a website-- only to find the phone number constantly, annoyingly busy. Considering that most established companies these days will have multiple lines so that you don't have to deal with that sorta thing, I called their 800 number outta curiosity and their CSR confirmed that they were indeed shuttered/donezo.. . so guess I just wasted a bit of my time so that other would-be callers wouldn't potentially do the same? It really takes a LOT of effort for me to write a one star review...that's how completely irritated I am. The level of incompetence at this location is unmeasurable...it goes beyond the depth of the deepest sea and further than the distance of the atmosphere. The associates here, mainly ED and manager MATT are absolutely CATASTROPHIC to the Hertz brand. Let's start with Ed...I called regarding an issue with my Hertz rented vehicle to switch to another one and he completely blew me off on the phone and wasn't helpful at all and told me I was stuck in a car that wasn't operating properly. After asking him questions on how to resolve the situation, he would remain silent and not answer at all- I had to repeat and ask if he was still on the line several times. I could see the giant EYE ROLL through the phone. Manager Matt, would not offer me another vehicle because "they were out of cars" but he had 10 keys sitting on the board behind him. When I mentioned that I was a president's circle member, he just simply said they have a lot of those members and there's nothing he can do. Seriously?!?? I rent from Hertz every week. You're would think there would be other solutions. He offered me a car for "tomorrow" but why in the world would I do that when I am here TODAY needing a car TODAY not tomorrow. Sometimes you need to make smart decisions and think outside the box and do what's right for your customer who's standing right in front of you versus the 10 who aren't there and wouldn't be landing for hours. He had plenty of time to figure it out and get a different car in place of the defective one I had but simply chose not to do it. BRAVO to AVIS though! My girlfriend rented a car from the Hertz Airport in Oakland and almost immediately a warning light came on but she was already on her way to work upon arriving. This morning, on her way to the airport, her tire was flat outside of her Hotel. Called Hertz 800 number and they sent someone out and was also told she could go to the Hertz in the Santa Rosa Airport to exchange the car to get her to the Oakland Airport. The Santa Rosa Airport Hertz facility was a disaster! I was on the phone with her the whole time arriving at the Hertz Rent a Car in the Santa Rosa facility. The representative's name was SARAH. Again, my review is based on listening to the service provided by Sarah to her customer (My Girlfriend). Here is my review. From the moment my girlfriend walked in, with me listening on the phone, Sarah was condescending, rude, lacked empathy, unprofessional, and extremely vulgar. Sarah, representing Hertz, was argumentative and always had to have the last word. When asked for a Manager's name and/or number Sarah refused to provide any information. From a customer service point of view, and listening to this conversation from a Quality Assurance stand-point, Sarah should be fired / terminated. However, this very well may be the vision that Hertz wants and prefers to have their customers treated. My recommendation, NEVER GO TO HERTZ! read more

I rented from Hertz in Italy and other countries a few times. However I contested an undocumented 'small scratch' charge of $400 they added on post departure [actual cost to repair: $100} . I contested, presented the case, requested documentation about the already preexisting 12 scratches on pickup, but none came. Credit card company acknowledged and supported, denying the charge. . I was so disappointed with their service. My husband and I waited for more than an hour at the airport to get our car. There was only one guy serving there and that was his excuse that's why he couldn't release he car earlier. Most of the time he was on phone and no one was even in line. I 100% agree with the previous reviews! This location is a total shit show!!! The sign to drop off is small and hard to see. After 10 minutes of driving around I finally pulled into the rental car return lot. Hertz had nobody working out in the return lot and ALL of the spaces were full. After multiple phone calls they finally answered and told me to park in 1 hour parking and to note the milage and gas and to return the keys to the rental counter inside. I get inside where I wait ANOTHER 5 minutes before being helped. I have rented from LOTS of Hertz locations but this location is by far THE WORST!!! 1 employee to run the inside and outside?!?!?!?
