I am so dissatisfied and disappointed in your company and in your representatives. The man who was working at the hertz rent a car on 1560a Teaneck Road, Ramen Leath, behaved in such a nasty manner to us. Actually, from the very beginning, he gave us the feeling that he didn't want to be bothered with us. I was shocked at his attitude and had expected to be treated as an equal customer. His customer service was appalling and disappointing. I had expected your employees to be there to try to assist the customers , and was mistaken to think they were on a high level. There was a problem with our order. He showed us his computer screen and that it said there that our order had been cancelled, yet we had a confirmation number and had not cancelled. I understand that mistakes can happen. So, we called Expedia and they asked to speak to him. He was actually outrightly obnoxious when speaking to the Expedia representative, who was trying to find out what had happened and to help with a solution. He did not want to help in any way. Why not? Isn't that his job? Doesn't hertz want us to use its services? We really felt that he was genuinely enjoying giving us a hard time and not trying to assist. I can't understand it. Why? We were very upset and chose to use another company. We got a car from Avis right away. I have no interest in using your services, but I demand an explanation for this kind of behavior!!! read more

Very unpleasant experience!! Quoted me a price upon making reservation and then price was completely different upon drop off. Salesperson Raquel made a mistake on my reservation and would not rectify the problem. Instead she argued with me back and forth on why price had changed. I rent cars all the time and never had a problem. Needless to say I will never use hertz again and would never recommend to anyone. read more

Terrible Customer Service and a complete ripoff. Don't forget to ask them about Platepass. Platepass is their EZ pass ripoff program that they sneak into page 4 of the contract where they charge you $5 a day "convenience fee" plus the charge of any toll even if you pay with cash without asking your permission. No one from Hertz ever told me about Platepass when I rented the car and has informed me that it is my responsibility to clear up the $82 charge on my card for a 4 day trip, not theirs. It turned out Hertz made a mistake on the reservation and ended up linked my account to someone else's so the charge was never mine in the first place, but once again my responsibility to clear up. Such a dishonest scam they are running. read more

I actually have consistently good experience dealing with this Hertz location for the past 8 months. The staff has been consistently professional and helpful. Some of the cars are of high mileage but they are generally okay - I think it is more of the Hertz retention policy than the problem of this location. I moved from Avis in Englewood to this location earlier this year and am happy with that decision. read more

8/13/2019 Had the most frustrating day, but seeing Linda and Chris handle my insurance car rental put me at ease. I had constant miscommunication regarding my rental from the insurance company, which had me play phone tag with Linda and Chris. Little did I know, that these two pros were dealing with other very hectic matters with grace as I waited for my car rental. Each interaction and observation I noticed, whether from their constant calls to customers coming in, they still gave 100% patience and care to it. They really turned my day around. read more

We needed a rental car for 7 weeks and was looking around for the best price. Of course I was familiar with the Hertz name so I started with Hertz near our home on Long Island NY. After checking out other companies I found Hertz had the best prices for what we needed and then I decided to compare other pick-up locations. I found that they do vary. I checked Hertz in Teaneck NJ because it is also convenient, being a couple of miles from our son's home. The same exact reservation was $400 less. When I added a AAA discount I saved another couple of hundred more. When we arrived for the pick-up I was surprised to see the tiny office located in the corner of a small shopping area. From the very beginning, Steve, Rachel and Kenny at the Teaneck office was super nice. It was obvious they knew their business and were sincerely interested in pleasing their customers. We were even given a larger car than I originally requested and the service we received from everyone, but I will mention Kenny in particular, was above and beyond our expectations. To make a long story short, it seems that Hertz HUV's don't always come with a cover in the open cargo space. As we were traveling around the country with lots of luggage, they understood our needs and everyone did their best to satisfy us, from calling other Hertz location to going to a nearby store to see what could be purchased to solve the problem. Once that issue was resolved we were off. The VW we were given turned out to be an excellent car. We drove over 10,300 miles (unlimited free miles, of course) and never a problem. My husband returned it saying he wants to buy one just like it. When we returned the car, I was glad to see Rachel, Kenny and Steve there again and we were treated like family. They were sincerely interested in hearing the details of our trip and in spite of what I read about rental companies, they were true to their word about the fees and rates. We were actually sent off with warm hugs and hand shakes. If we ever are in such a need again, I wouldn't hesitate driving the 100 miles from home to pick it up a car from here. read more

Just be weary of their up-selling tactics for their car rental insurance, or other optional services. The district manager was not completely transparent about all of their rental insurance plans, ranging from the cheapest to the most expensive, and the fact that it is OPTIONAL. My inexperience couldn't catch it in time, and I ended up buying something I did not need. I went to a different Hertz and the manager there explicitly told me that it was optional from the get-go and spoke to me like a person, not a transaction. Anyways, just check your coverage beforehand so you won't feel pressured to buy their--frankly--over-priced packages. I went to a different Hertz location and had 100% transparency from the employers and felt at ease, so it's not every location that is a negative experience. read more

Saying that I had a bad experience is an understatement. Let me start by saying that I am just returning from a long business trip. My company & I have been dealing with Hertz for about 1 1\2 years. I have NEVER had such horrible customer service in my past experience. When I first started doing business with Hertz I became a Gold member per Kenneth advice. Due to the nature of my company & my religious beliefs we can not drive starting Friday sunset & Ken was not only understanding but kind & considerate to my needs in renting a vechile. Now, I reserved 2 minivans via the internet which I had not done in the past but after I called this Teaneck location I asked for Kenneth simply because that is whom I established a professional relationship with I was put on hold for about 10 minutes (okay I thought it was busy there) & when the person whom claimed to be the head branch manager (Tim, Tom, not sure) rudly got on the phone & said that Ken is not here & offered his help. With such rudeness I thought either this man was having a bad day, this must be a terrible joke or I dialed the wrong #. Needless to say I drove there the next morning to speak directly to Ken & reserve the 2 minivans. I was not greated warmly with that Ken smile but rather with a plastic scripted Hello my name is Han how may I help you. I asked for Ken& was told that he no longer works for Hertz. I was saddened by this news & told this plastic guy that if that is true me nor the company that I work for will NEVER do business with Hertz again. Rented a car from Hertz Teneack on 9/29. I arrived in the office expecting to pick up 1 of 3 mid size/compact vehicles of my choice that was discussed all week prior. They didn't have either vehicle and they only had full size. I was upset and I'm telling Raquel that I don't want a full size car, I don't feel comfortable driving those cars and this woman was ignoring everything that I was saying. Still offering me the full size cars, trying to get a sale. So I am about to walk out because I am extremely upset. Kenny comes and try to help me and started to name nearby Hertz that they can possibly call to locate the mid-size vehicle I wanted. While he is telling me about the fort lee location, she is taping him with a pen for him to stop talking to me. I looked at her and was disgusted. Why would you stop someone from going above and beyond to make me happy and calm me down and to save your reputation. She is a manager by the way. So that was uncalled for. I never seen a manager who didn't someone to help the customer to get an issue resolved. Anyway....she called Hackensack and they had a car. Kenny drove me over and was apologetic for everything that happened and because of his professionalism and him trying to fix the problem and not concerned with selling me anything to get me out the office. HE IS THE REASON FOR 3 STARS. He is also the reason as to why I would do business again with Hertz. Another notable mention is Steven. He wasn't there during the time all of this chaos happened in the morning but, when I returned the car in the afternoon it was a total different atmosphere. He was nice and friendly. read more
