I went to Enterprise in Teaneck, NJ to rent a car after my vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run. My insurance company and the auto body shop both recommended Enterprise, so I expected a smooth experience. They picked me up from the shop, and at first things seemed promising--the initial representative I worked with was very polite and helpful. Unfortunately, my experience quickly went downhill. The manager I dealt with was dismissive and unprofessional, brushing me off with excuses about a "loss." I rented the vehicle from August 4 to August 13. My insurance company was billed and refunded appropriately. However, on August 28, Enterprise charged my debit card $323.75 for tolls that were actually left unpaid by the customer who rented the car before me. Instead of resolving this directly, Enterprise gave me the number of a third-party company, VerraMobility. When I contacted them, I was told an investigation would be conducted and that I'd receive an email within three business days. No email ever came, and when I followed up on the fifth day, I was told Enterprise would be responsible for issuing my refund. I returned to Enterprise and spoke with the manager, Ryan Karr, who was extremely rude. Rather than apologizing for the fraudulent charge, he acted as though I should have been grateful the issue was "being taken care of." When I became frustrated, he tried to pass me off to his district manager instead of addressing the problem himself. In the end, Enterprise charged me for something I didn't owe, withheld my money without explanation, and treated me poorly when I sought resolution. This was by far the worst customer service experience I've ever had. I will never use Enterprise again and recommend others consider a different rental company. I would've given them zero stars. Great staff! Excellent manager (Marilyn)! Was scheduled to pick up my intermediate car at 2:00 PM a few days before Christmas and the blizzard of 2010. I arrived an hour late and was informed that they had given my car to another customer. The only thing I saw in the lot was a tiny Cobalt. I thought I had screwed myself. The manager was assisting the rep and asked me if I would like an upgrade to a pick-up. I WAS ECSTATIC because I'm debating buying one and this gave me the op to test-drive one for several days not just 20 minutes. For her it was a logical question to ask me because she still had more customers, some of which would NEVER have been comfortable in a Chevy Silverado 4x4. I lucked out twice that week because the Chevy's 4x4 capabilities got me through some of the worst snow in Brooklyn, NY and the metro area. Thank you Enterprise, Marilyn and staff! read more

Good service but lousy cars. They upgraded me from a compact to a large SUV for free - and I appreciated that. However, it was a bear to drive that SUV as it was fairly old and hard to handle. It appears that most of their cars were fairly "old" looking... I saw 4-5 staff in that little office. I also remembered that I didn't see a lot of cars in their lot across the street. I wonder what these staff were doing as they all appeared very busy and only one person was working at the counter! A mystery that needs to be solved... anyone know? read more

Enterprise car rental in Teaneck, NJ has been OUTSTANDING! From the moment I reserved my car online I received a follow up call to confirm too calling and extending my contract two more days. When I arrived (they practice social distancing ) I was addressed they will be with me momentarily. After her (oooh I am terrible with names I APOLOGIZE) completion with her current customer I was helped. This young lady who assisted me smiled the entire time and offered me an alternative car because the return size hadn't come it yet. Then the next day I received a "Thank you" email from the branch manager Kent for choosing that location. Now, in my town there are car rentals I had used previously but wanted to try enterprise. Let's just say I will continue to go to the Teaneck, NJ location for going up and beyond with hospitality and customer service...that means a lot to me when being a consumer. We rented a car to drive to Peoria, IL from NYC and unfortunately we learned a few things wasn't working with the car along the way. Driving that kind of distance, we didn't have the time to switch out the car so we called customer service to document the issues. Unfortunately Enterprise customer service hotline is AWFUL, spoke to 5 agents and was mislead each time, not one of them had knowledgeable information. Because we experienced all these issues, all we wanted was a change of location to drop the car off EARLY without paying the fee. After being told by the customer service agents that I can drop to a Manhattan location, only to come and be told no, threatened with a $250 fine, rejected, and dismissed from that location and another...we ended up returning it to this original location. It all worked out in the end because Anthony is a great manager, was understanding of all the issues and provided more than exceptional customer service unlike the incompetent agents and managers at the corporate customer service hub 1-855-266-9565. I will only be dealing with this branch and these agents in the future, as far as the terrible customer service from corporate, I will be filing complaints -- that is how bad it was. read more

Well, As long as everything goes well at enterprise, they are as wonderful as any other agency. They greet you with a PHONEY smile probably taught in training, so well, you give them one back, and they give you a FALSE sense that you are going to be well taken care of if anything goes wrong! THIS IS WHERE YOU WILL ENCOUNTER JUST HOW PHONEY THEY ARE. I rented a standard SUV from the Teaneck NJ branch, and spoke to JOHNATHAN.He was soooooo helpful and so much so that I actually saw that PHONEY smile right through the phone. I requested a Ford Explorer, but was told he only had a Jeep Cherokee (get ready, here's where the bs begins, ready?) but he would try to locate and have an Explorer here for me by the time I got to the location. I was 2 miles away, so I now ask those reading this review, is there anyone that would actually believe that line of bs (probably in the ENTERPRISE TRAINING MANUAL RIGHT UNDER THE SMILE SECTION)? But, no big deal, I am an adult, and can handle not getting the model I requested. I would have been nice for them to be honest and tell me that was the only SUV they had, but I guess, yep, back to the training manual, there must be something in there about lying to the customer WITH A SMILE! OK, Now folks, here is what happens if anything goes wrong! THEY DO NOT CARE, ALL THE KNOW IS THAT AT 1:00 on a Saturday afternoon they are going home. Read on! The Cherokee they gave me was more high mileage that you usually get from HERTZ, But, then again, this is NOT Hertz, so I sort of expected that. But what I did not expect was a car that would give me problems. A few times in 3 days I had the car, I would get a message on the panel that that this or that should be checked, but the car was functioning. Well, 3 days later, I get in the car, and all I heard was a constant "ding" along with constantly revolving items showing what as wrong. After a stop at a red light, the car had to be put in park, then back into drive, or it would not go. I then discovered, when I got home after a short trip, that it would not go into reverse, so I had to go around the block and front into a parking space. It's a good thing I'm a good driver, because I only had one shot at it! But in all fairness, I cannot blame Enterprise for the car breaking down, even though I would have loved to. Ok, so, I called the Teaneck office at aprox 11:30 am Saturday morning, and spoke to, who I thought was my friend JOHNATHAN,( remember, he's the guy who's PHONEY smile I felt through the phone), but low and behold, he tried to hide the fact that he didn't remember me by asking me for the contract number, so he could pull it up on his computer, and give me another PHONEY smile! Well, I explained I needed to have my car changed, and why, and reminded him I needed an SUV for Sunday morning. He said he didn't have one, but he would transfer me to Jersey City. So I'm on hold, and guess what folks! I got the towing dispatcher, not the Jersey City office (closest to my home). So I call my buddy Johnathan, and he puts me on hold, then tells me he called Newark and LaGuardia airports, and no SUV's. Well, I have 2 college degrees, and well, something didn't sound just right. It is now 12:45. Teaneck office closes at 1:00. I called back and again my friend Johnathan, (my buddy that told me when I rented the car that I should call him if I have any problems), answered the phone again. He said he would try to locate an SUV. I was put on hold for 15 minutes, and at EXACTLY 1:00, my call was disconnected. Now, this could be a total coincidence, but, my 2 college degrees told me Ed, you are smarter than that, he put you on hold until they closed! Brilliant! I said to myself! So, I went on line and found another number and called it. I spoke to a woman who was I believe in Florida and explained my situation again. She said she would try to help me (HA, an Enterprise employee that TRULY wants to help me???), and she put me on hold. Then she comes back and said I see 1 (THATS ONE, 1 SUV) at Newark airport. I ask her if she can hold it for me and she said she can request it, but cannot guarantee it will be here when I get there, and that's the best she can do. (Folks, that what is known in the business as covering your butt!) So, I get Enterprise to send a tow truck to pick up the car and drop me off at Enterprise at Newark airport. I was surprised at how courteous the driver was, and how helpful, until I found out he was NOT an Enterprise employee. That explains his helpfulness. So I get to Newark airport in the snow and cold, and go to the window (not even an indoor office) and I will as standing there explaining that someone should have called and held an SUV for me. She immediately told me she didn't have any SUVs available because she was expecting a heavy week and demand for them this week. So, here I am, made to be the victim because their car broke down on me. NOT FAIR. I left driving a mini van, no choice. No compassion. read more

My experience with the manager Laquan of this location was appalling. I have been a customer of Enterprise for over 20 years and this location used to be incredible with a lot of wonderful people who got promoted because of their professionalism and stellar customer service . Post Covid; and it all went downhill. The manager of this location first did not honor a 2 month in advance reservation that I made in July. On the day of my rental after waiting two months Laquan calls me with no regard to my plans , the very morning I was to pick up the car and he tells me " There is no availability". He does not explain why there is no availability , but simply pushes up my advance reservation to the following week. On the night before I was to pick up the car, Laquan called me 4:30 pm and once again says " No rentals available - our fleet sold out" . Again, he offered no explanation. 3 Weeks later he calls me telling me they now have cars. The day I attempted to pick up my car I asked another customer what their experience was with Enterprise. I explained to her that the customer service has slipped. Two minutes later , Laquan comes in to the office . When I attempt to speak to him about my grievances , he raises his voice to me and scolds me- telling me that I was " disrespectful", because I as a customer aired my opinion to another customer. When I attempted to offer my thoughts about how they could improve - he cut me off and told me " he wasn't going to discuss it with me ". He had a chip on his shoulder the size of the rock of Gibraltar, but it got worse. 'I've been in Customer Service as a Relationship Mgr. If a customer complains - the response should be " How can we make your experience better ? " That would be both professional and courteous. You don't argue with a customer and act inappropriate and like a bully, which is exactly what he did . Instead - I got attitude and he told me " I could go elsewhere ". Every time I tried to speak , he interrupted me . When I expressed that he was behaving unprofessional and that he was representing Enterprise I was told " I represent myself, not Enterprise" ! WHO hired this guy ??? and why is he still working there ? Is anyone paying attention ? Long story short - in an attempt to tell him why I was dissatisfied with his service - he refused to rent the car to me . Essentially he allowed his ego and personality issues to affect his professionalism as opposed to addressing things appropriately and refused service to me which is appalling. His behavior was entirely unacceptable and he should be fired. Enterprise clearly has the right to deny a customer service if they break their " code of conduct", but I did no such thing. Laquan essentially lacks the temperance, maturity and professionalism that is required when you are dealing with a dissatisfied customer. His behavior was atrocious and the clear personal anger he possesses should be dealt with - perhaps by a Counselor - instead of displacing it on Enterprise customers. I called Corporate and I am in the process of filing a complaint. I video taped and recorded what happened so there should be not subjectivity with he said - she said. I was sent to the Hackensack location and was met with their mgr. Sean Lombardi. who was professional, congenial and courteous. I requested a credit but I have yet to receive it . I don't believe an apology from the Regional mgr. is sufficient . DO NOT GO TO THE TEANECK LOCATION. They seriously need a change in personnel with someone who actually possesses the skillset of a manager , because Laquan doesn't. read more

Car Rental #1: Ordered an Intermediate SUV (RAV 4) from the Teaneck location for Friday, Saturday & Sunday. The weather was very bad and I needed the All Wheel Drive. I called to confirm they had the car. When I arrived and completed the paper work I asked for the keys and I was told that the car is on the way from Englewood (I was told on the phone that it was at the facility). If I didn't want to wait I could take a different SUV at the same price. To my surprise they gave me a Land Rover and was very satisfied. Car Rental #2: Needed a car again for the coming week, Tuesday - Friday. Ordered the Intermediate SUV (RAV 4) again. Called to confirm that the car was at the facility and was told it is available. Arrived to pick up car and the salesman tried to convince me to take the KIA Soul, it's the same car he said. I replied that it's a cool car, but, not a SUV All Wheel Drive (again bad weather week). The salesman then said the agreement is for an Intermediate Car or Similar and he insisted these 2 cars were the same. I disagreed, but, didn't have time to argue. He then offered me the Lincoln MKX SUV (beautiful car) at 12 more per day. I felt it should have been offered at the original agreed too price because I was told the RAV 4 was in stock. The end result is the salesman convinced me to take the Lincoln at the higher price. I was still bothered by the fact that I was told the KIA and the RAV 4 were in the same category. I checked the Enterprise web page and just as I thought, The KIA is a "STANDARD RENTAL" and the RAV 4 is an "INTERMEDIATE RENTAL" They are not the same category. The salesman misrepresented the true facts. Although I got a good deal on the upgraded rental, I am still very disappointed that I was lied too and was given the wrong information. This was truly the best experience I have ever had with any rental car place. This enterprise is clearly better than the one in Hackensack as they have no idea what they are doing. David from the Teaneck location made my rental processes very easy and extremely convenient. They made sure my rental was large enough for my daughters car seat as well as parked it on the street and gave me the keys to pick it up later. This allowed me to work on my schedule and not on theirs. David kept in contact with me regarding the payments for the car as well as my refund for my security deposit. He showed outstanding customer service and personalised my visit. If you ever need a rental, ask for him at the Teaneck location!! read more

I had a great experience. I got a very competitive rate, they picked me up, gave me a clean, low mileage late model Hyundai that was very comfortable, and when I returned it they gave me a ride home. They also upgraded me for free because the class I had booked was not available. I was originally scheduled to have the car for two days but returned it a day early and had no problem. When asked for proofs of address ppl bring shut off utility notices! Then they wonder why they won't rent to them. ITS CAUSE YOU CAN'T PAY YOUR BILLS!!!! When we were "between cars" we rented from Enterprise a few times. It was always an easy good experience. You could do most stuff online through the main company, and when you got there, they didn't spend a ridiculous amount of time upselling. The cars were always in good shape. My only gripe is they are not open on Sundays, which means if you need a car for the weekend you're paying for it to Monday. You can drop the car off on a Sunday and leave it in the lot. It's probably the most reasonably priced but decent no hassle place close to Manhattan. You'll spend much less than if you try to rent a car in Manhattan or even in the boroughs. It's not difficult to get to by mass transit. If can get up to 168th, there are minivans going across the bridge, all the time, and it's about a one block walk from there. That's the main advantage it has. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS BRANCH. They have screwed up a number of my reservations in terms or overcharging and trying to bait and switch with type of car rented. Several times I've reserved a standard size ca online, only to be told only full size or premiums are available upon my arrival, and then they do not honor the online rate that was quoted. The manager Marilyn could REALLY use a class in customer service, and they really need to train their agents to pay a little more attention to detail. Most recently, I had a Friday to Sunday rental, for which I brought in what I thought was sufficient proof of address to rent with my debit card. Well, when I got there, I was informed that they no longer take either one of the pieces I brought with me as proof. I sat on their office computer for about a half hour, trying to find and download something else that would be suitable. In the end, I got away with having only one method of proof, but only because I have been a very regular customer for the past two years. Senior agent Dave, scanned the piece of paper and aid he would save it to my file so that I could avoid the hassle going forward. So fine, I leave with the car and return it on time on Sunday. Two days later my fiance calls me at work, asking why our credit card was charged for the rental, and why the total was $50 more than the total I was quoted online and in the branch. Long story short, it took them almost a month to resolve the overcharge problem, and they would not admit to screwing up and charging the card on file instead of the one I handed to them. I had to call 4 times, and on the 4th time I was told that the problem was given to Marilyn to take care of before she left for vacation and she never touched it - the district manager who was filling in that day took care of it for me right there and then. Their screw up caused my credit card to go over the limit, and because they took so long to resolve it, it went into the next billing cycle,s crewing up my perfect record with this credit card company. And they are STILL claiming that it was my own fault for handing them the wrong card. Horrible, HORRIBLE service since Marilyn came on board as the manager. I miss Dave and Steve, this crap never happened with them. read more

Used these guys while car was in the shop due to accident. Very friendly, good customer service. They called me no more than 3 minutes after I logged my claim with insurance company and triggering my rental coverage. The day after first rental day, they gave me a call to check that everything was ok. Car return was a breeze. Love their "we'll pick you up". Place is a little far for personal driving needs but would definitely recommend this place for Teaneck locals or for those who like myself have auto body needs in Teaneck. read more

I have been renting here once and even twice a month lately for various reasons - mainly work. I have only the best to say about each and everyone of the staff at the Teaneck location. They have literally bent over backwards to make sure i leave as a happy customer. Cars are always clean and run well. If there is an issue they are prompt to provide an upgrade just to get you out on the road. I wish didn't have to rent this often, but they really help to take the sting out. read more

If your from outside ny, pa or nj dont even bothering going without a credit card because they cant rent to you with a debit card from any other state. Total disappointment. They recommend me to go to Hertz. At least hertz are more reliable if you have good credit. I just give a star for trying to help. read more

RENTER BEWARE: I rented a cargo van from Enterprise in Teaneck NJ in early July and return it the same day to their facility in PA. I got there when they opened at 8AM and processed the standard paper work. I was in a rush as I had to move my elderly parents back to their house in PA after a long illness. The agent stated that she moved the van out of the parking lot to the street as their were a lot of cars in the lot and it might be difficult to pull out. We went to the van to perform the usual vehicle check. The van was almost new as it had only a little over 3000 miles on it but it was dirty - mud on all sides and in the wheel wells. Other than that no marks or scratches that could be seen. I left the facility and proceeded to pick up the goods and drove to PA and unload (approx 95-100 miles). I returned the van to the PA facility around 2PM. The agent in PA went to check the mileage and stated that the van was muddy and how did that happen as it was a bright sunny day with no rain. I told her I got the van that way. Then she noticed that the incoming mileage was approx 500 miles less that I started (my first mistake). I told her that had to be a mistake as I only traveled around 100 miles. She corrected the paper work. She continued to check the van for damages and cleaned off the dirt on the bottom of the passenger side door and found a 6 inch crease. I know that I did not damage the door. At that time she said I was responsible for that damage as it was not noted when I and the agent in Teaneck inspected the van. After a long frustrating discussion she handed me back the rental agreement along with information on how I would be contacted by the repair service and how much it will cost me and that I should deal with the Teaneck location regarding the issue. They never completed the paper work on the return or provide me a receipt with their damage findings (my second mistake). As I did not take the Enterprise insurance I contacted the credit card company to see if this was covered. The cover cars but not cargo vans (my third mistake). I received and invoice for the repair a few days ago and to my surprise I was not only charged for the crease but also for repair of the bumper. I know I did not damage the bumper and the agent in PA did not state that their was any additional damage other than the crease. I'm in for a long fight that I undoubtedly will lose and out $800.00 - BEWARE - when renting from Enterprise - check all paper work before leaving - inspect the vehicle (even crawl under it and check) take a video of the car before accepting and signing anything - better yet rent from a reputable company - be sure you have insurance coverage! read more
