i wish i could give them negative stars. i reserved a corolla a few days in advance to make sure of availability and because i was running a tight schedule needed to be in and out. my son decided to go with us so i asked for an upgrade to a mid size car. The worker there told me they had a camry and that i could take it. then another customer comes in who hadn't even made a reservation and requested a camry after me. she then told me sorry and gave the car to the other person. ???!???? i'm not quite sure why she told me i could take it and then right in front of me told the person who came in after that he could take it and told me sorry. that's not all, they didn't even have the corolla that i reserved so they gave me a hyundai elantra, i thought, well, it's about the same as a corolla so i decided i'd forget about the poor customer service and get out of there so i can get on the road. but instead, they told me they needed to clean the car. it took half an hour to clean the car and it's still the dirtiest car i've ever rented. this place has no concept of customer service and i'd never rent anything from this place again. i advise others to look for a rental service else where even if it's a little further away. i hope this helps people save time and from a horrible experience. because that's what yelp is about in the first place right? and since i'm way behind schedule now, i need to go.. have a nice day! read more

I can't even give them a negative star. So after driving here and first not having a car at first location. I was told I could come over here and they would wait for me. There was 3 workers when I arrived. They ignored me at first. Then they said they were closed. I told them that their manager told me that he was going to wait for me. He told me that the manager was gone. So now I'm outside waiting because the workers decided to go out the back door. And also they had a customer inside while I stood outside and they sent her out the back door and didn't even walk her to her car. I don't know how they stay in business. So from bad to worse. And now I'm stuck waiting to see if they will call me back like they told. Me. I will don't use Hertz go somewhere else. 10 mins waiting on the phone to get a person then no car. Then employees leave a patron stranded because they had to go. They had time to talk to me and tell me they couldn't help me for 15 mins. Less time than it would have been to sign a sheet that was already ready. read more

I don't treat customer service as a sport, and I understand things don't always work out like one would like. But I was disappointed in my recent interaction with this company at this location. I went to this location in person to book a car a week in advance. I thought doing so in person might make the process more successful and ensure that I ended up with the car I needed. The clerk immediately told me "it would be cheaper if I just did it online". I explained that the definition of "Prestige Car" seemed a little unclear online and that since I was going to log a thousand miles in two days with my two linebacker-sized buddies, I really wanted to make sure I was reserving a nice, roomy, comfortable car to make this trip more enjoyable. The dude (I won't use his name) assured me that it was impossible to reserve a particular car, but that the luxury rental would be something like a Mercedes, Lexus, Chrysler 300, etc. I was a little annoyed that even with advance notice I couldn't lock down a specific car. I should've moved on at that point and visited another rental agency, but I took his word for it and agreed to the $100 a day fee. (Figuring at roughly 3-4 times my regular rate, I'd get what I'm paying for.) So, Saturday morning, I'm there bright and early, ready for my weekend to start. There's a big line of us before it opens and the three employees seem either hung over or distracted, quite possibly both. Either way, they were in no hurry. When I get my chance to get my car, I lucked out and got the same guy from earlier in the week. I reminded him of my visit and cheerfully asked what "luxury car" they had for me. Keep in mind, I'm as cheap as a five-dollar steak, so I don't often treat myself to things like this, but it was important that my rather capacious companions be comfortable since we had such a long drive... Mr. Clerk guy says we need to go outside and check out the car. It's a Dodge Journey. Man, it doesn't really have to be the Benzo, I know Hertz probably only has two of those that they use in advertisements, but could a guy get something in an Avalon, maybe? The aforementioned Lexus or 300 perhaps? No. Mom's station wagon. I could've just borrowed my wife's car. But she just dropped me off and drove away. He was proud to announce that I could expect a discount from the agreed-upon $100 per day. Wow! Really? Next he offered me a tiny Nissan Versa, or a mid-sized Chevy Impala. Neither of these were clean, and neither was large enough for my needs. Another customer was turning in a Camry, so I decided on that. Dude cleans out the fast food trash, vacuums it out and off I go. Thanks for the vacuum job, that was a plus. The tank wasn't full and there was trash in the trunk, but that was easy to take care of and I know my guy was hustling to get me out the door since he knew I was on a schedule. Bottom line, the Camry is a wildly capable car. It averaged 30MPG loaded with approximately 800 pounds of man meat, at well over the speed limit for 500 miles one day and the same amount the next. The problem is that I tried diligently to reserve something that suited my needs, and agreed to pay full price. Upon delivery, the salesman was obviously used to this situation and was offering me something completely different with a straight face, like it was a great idea. I don't really slight the clerk for these actions. I doubt he has any control over the process at Hertz. I do think the management is remiss in training their staff in how to deal with this situation and whoever cooks up processes at corporate should rethink how they do things. Me? I already cleaned out the trash, topped it off and I'll return it on time in the morning. Then, with so many other options out there in the rental car world, I'll simply go somewhere else next time. Not happy with the service I received. I had an insurance claim and my Insurance company is contracted with Hertz. I was told by two Hertz employees of Temecula that they would notify me when I reached my max coverage on the rental. I was never told I reached my max coverage from anyone. I found out when I received an automated call from Hertz basically saying I stole the vehicle. Out of control! I rushed over to the Lake Elsinore location to return the vehicle. Now I have a $400 rental bill because the employees at the Temecula location did not do their due diligence as promised in keeping me up to date on my coverage max. This bill has now been turned over to collections which is now jeopardizing my credit score! read more

My car broke down in Temecula and I needed a crental car. The repair shop called Hertz, and the manager Gail came to pick me up. Now I rent cars all the time and most rental car people could care less about their customers. This girl was terrific. Professional, friendly and above all else her customer service was outstanding. Back at the Hertz office, I noted that everyone was friendly, relaxed and yet efficient. They only had 1 car left to rent and it was a bit higher than my budget. Never will I rent from Hertz again. My rental car broke down on our way to Laughlin and after waiting almost 3 hours (with a 2 year old) with absolutely no help from roadside assistance and the MANAGER, Kamran at Temecula, I was left to fend for myself by contacting locations around the area to find a replacement rental; after Kamran had said he would "See what he could do and call me back." He provided absolutely zero customer service and was completely rude to me over the phone. After reading the other yelp reviews I am shocked that Hertz would still keep this employee working for their company, let alone as a manager. Do not rent from Hertz!!! if there was a way to give them no stars I would. They don't even deserve one stars. The customer service is horrible. Basically rented a car on 05/14/18 and rented it on 06/06/18 . As I was walking in to return the keys John walked rite passed and said nothing. I was waiting in the lobby for atleast 5 minute yelling for someone to help me and no one came. Then John came back in and I have him the keys and that was it. I don't smoke and no one ever smoked in the car or even around it yet they charged me a smoking fee of $300. Called Saturday 9th spoke to a lady manager and she said she had to wait till Monday to talk to John. Waited till Monday. She didn't call me back so I called again. Guy that answered said she was busy and would have her call me back. She didn't call me back. So I called yet again today and they told me she was busy again. So I waited an hour and a half for a call back and spoke to a rep and he said to wait for John to come in from lunch cause he had the "evidence" of smoke on his phone. Waited an hour no call back, so I called back and spoke to John and he said there was photo evidence of smoke and it smelled like smoke. I asked to get an email of the evidence and would continuously disregard my request. Talking to me rude, raising his voice and being smart. Trying to talk over me and shut me up. Spoke to the manager Belize or Louis couldn't really make it out. And he pretty much regurgitated the same thing and attitude John was saying. When I asked him for the evidence he said I would have to call the customer relations for it. So I called the customer relations and they were pretty dumbfounded that the location wouldn't just send me the "evidence" directly and instantaneously because typically that's what they do. But whatever I filled the request with the customer relations for the evidence. It felt like I was pulling teeth in order to get this "evidence" they said they had. Nonetheless I was fed up dealing with the rude manager and sales associate so I just waited. And the photos are a joke!!! For one, they're blurry. Secondly I live in aguanga so they just took photos of sand. And because the manager and the associate or such rude obnoxious people there's absolutely no way to get my money back because they keep telling me this evidence they have is proof enough even though it's literally a blurry photo of some sand!!!! Pissed and annoyed doesn't even begin to express how I feel. But moral of the story the manager and John were some extremely rude unprofessional people and did not try to help resolve the issue and made me jump throw hoops for no reason. And I will NEVER EVER EVER RENT FROM HERTZ EVER AGAIN AND WILL MAKE IT MY MISSION TO TELL EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT HOW I WAS TREATED AND MAKE SURE THEY DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ EITHER. Do not rent from these people. Paid in advance two weeks prior for a vehicle and when I come to pick it up they don't have it or any other vehicle to rent. What's that point of paying in advance? Then to add insult to injury they are taking two weeks to refund my money that they have already had for two weeks. So complicating my aren't to rent another vehicle elsewhere. This place is horrible, the guy that was helping me took almost an hour to get me a car because he was too busy greeting everyone that was walking in the door. The lady who was sitting next to him who was doing absolutely nothing was obviously too good to help any one else because she didn't do a thing but play on her phone until someone from the back room brought her some breakfast, and even then she didn't help any one because she was too busy eating while playing on her phone to realize there was a rather large line already formed. When I made my reservation over the phone I was also guaranteed a small SUV or similar. I was offered a crappy Nissan Versa or I could wait around and see what was returned. After everything was said and done and I accepted the pos Versa I was kept waiting almost 30 min so it could be cleaned. Their idea of cleaning it was spraying windex into the cup holder. They didn't get the windows or clean the floor but thank god they cleaned those cup holders, I can't stand a dirty cup holder. read more

I have rented from Hertz many times, and have usual had positive experiences. I normally rent from San Diego or Temecula. This time I rented from the Murrieta office and found that even though it is a small office, customer satisfaction was the number one priority. Everything from reserving a car online to picking the vehicle up to the return were very pleasant. The car was clean, which has not always been the case, and everything went smooth. My suggestion, if you live anywhere close to Murrieta, take your business there. That office runs much smoother than Temecula. read more

Today, 10/13/2015 out of absolute necessity we had to rent from this location. Worst car rental experience I've ever had. I would like to give this place 1/2 star. The poorest customer service ever, (the manager came out to assist us while listening to a meeting on his smart phone(loudly). They open the door for business but refused to come out for service until 7:30. Said my complaint about the service was "ridiculous". Daughter and son in law rented a car today from this office. When they arrived at my house they found that the rear tire had an emergency "donut" tire on it. The Hertz customer service stated that they would tow the vehicle but they may be responsible for the payment of the tow vehicle if the counter in Temecula deemed the vehicle ok to drive. We do not know if the how long this emergency tire was on the car. It's pretty unreal that they would let this happen! So a few weeks ago, we left the San Diego area for a weekend trip to Palm Desert for my wife's bday. My car broke down in Temecula on the side of the freeway. All the Enterprises were sold out and were of no help nor did they care. We called Hertz and they rushed a driver over to us in a truck and picked us up and our luggage so we could get our car towed that wouldn't be worked on until Monday. It was towed later. They cleaned up a car and gave us a free upgrade as a bday present and got is on the road ASAP. Thank you for Hertz for saving out weekend. I rent from Hertz about twice a year. I've never had a problem getting the vehicle back in time until this last visit. I was supposed to have the car back by 3:30 but do to horrendous traffic I wasn't able to get it back until 5:30. I know they could have charged me for an additional days use but they were happy to let me off the hook for the charge. The group that runs this branch are great! read more

I made a reservation for a economy sized rental car today. When I arrived at Hertz to pick up the rental, I stood in the front of the business with another customer waiting to be helped while all of the employees could be heard having a conversation in back. After a few minutes an employee finally came up to help us. He seemed to have known that we had been waiting, but did not apologize. When I told him I was there to pick up a car, he proceeded to tell me that he had no cars in the size I had reserved, but I could "up-size" to a larger vehicle AND be charged more to do so or I could be put on a waitlist for a vehicle. It would greatly benefit Hertz to rethink their customer service policies. Needless to say they have lost a customer. read more

I reserved a Kia Reo type rental car through rentalcars.com and they provided me with a Hertz reservation for me to pick up this morning. I went to Hertz and completed the "we take your credit card and DL" process. The representative stepped to the back to see what was available and returned to tell me there was a problem. He said they did not have a car in my rental class and I would be put on a waiting list for a car. I asked how long of a wait and he couldn't tell me. I said too bad, there are plenty of cars in the lot that are obviously rentals and they should provide me with one of them. I told him this was the first time I had made a reservation and didn't receive a car. I told him it didn't make sense to make a reservation and not receive a car. He said he would talk with the manager. He returned to tell me they were tracking a car in my class and it would be available in 30 minutes. I told him I didn't have 30 minutes and I needed a car. He said waiting was the only option. I told him I should have made a reservation for yesterday and I could have gotten the car today. I told him the only reason I wasn't getting an upgrade was because I rented through rentalcars.com and received a deal Hertz couldn't afford. He just stared at me. I told them I would go to a competitor, I would put a review on Yelp and advise Rentalcars.com of the issue. They just let me walk off. Now I finished my homework. No more Hertz! read more

I just came in to pick up a vehicle , I was the only one in the store and it took a few minutes for any of the employees to acknowledge me. The two gentlemen at the front were pre-occupied with joking about how they had just sent the wrong vehicle to a customer. I could tell they wanted me in and out as quickly as possible so the gentlemen handed me the keys to a vehicle and asked if it would do. After explaining to him that it was dirty ( bird feces all over the car, crumbs all over the seats and a sticky back seat and steering wheel ) he said that if I wanted it cleaned I could go across the street to the car wash instead of sending someone's who's job it was to wash it. Hertz Fallbrook location closed. I was so disheartened because Fallbrook isn't called the Friendly Village for no reason and I have been renting vehicles from Russ's collision/Hertz for over 2 years! But then I came to find out that Donica from Fallbrook location moved to Temecula Hertz location. I just want you to know that Donica knows her Hertz stuff, is super kind and will go above and beyond to help you find a great price for your next rental and do all she can to get the vehicle you need! Unfortunately, the first time I spoke with the manager, Victoria, at the Hertz Temecula location it was because of a billing issue. But I am happy to say that Victoria was extremely accommodating to my situation and resolved the billing rate issue with ease! Thank you Victoria! One improvement I recommend for the Temecula location includes, "Answer the phones". I've called several times over the past 2 months while transitioning from Fallbrook location to Temecula location and I either get a continuous ring with no pick up or a busy signal. Please answer phone Temecula, as customers we are usually calling out of our busy day to extend rental ($$) or book a rental ($$). Lost calls equal lost revenue! I would give them a negative zero star if allowed. Total nightmare! Very incompetent! I made a reservation online from Hertz to pick up a van on a Saturday at 12:00 pm at their Temecula location (27452 Jefferson Ave, Temecula Ca 92591). Paid online and got my confirmation email. So I went to pick up the van on that day, and was told that they don't have any cars since 10:00 am and the manager showed me the key box that is empty. The manager (Rowell Tolentino) told me that there's nothing he can do. I was confused since I already pay for it and have a confirmation. He even told me that they are supposed to be closed already. Seems like he is in a hurry to get out and did not even attempt to help me in any way. He just handed me a brochure and told me to call a number for help or refund. So I called the 800 number on the brochure and after about an hour of endless holds and transfers. I was told that the best they can do is to have me pick up the vehicle in the nearest airport which is about 65 miles away from where I live. This is ridiculous since I don't even have a car to go anywhere. I had never seen this kind of incompetency anywhere. They did not even give me a courtesy call ahead so I can make other plans. Now I'm stuck with no vehicle to pick up my family from the airport and ruined all my plans for the weekend. Thanks Hertz I should have not count on you. I used to appreciate their professionalism and efficiency. Your service is falling apart I hope someone from the Corporate Office is aware of this. read more

This has to be the worse customer service I have ever experienced!! Reserved a rental and the guy at the counter wanted me to sign acknowledging there was no damage to vehicle, I asked to inspect vehicle before signing and he told me it wasn't necessary but if I wanted to it was over there on the lot. Went out and checked and was told I told you. Was upset to find the vehicle had less than 1/8th a tank of gas, which the rep told me that's what you get for picking up a vehicle at the end of the day. The store is decorated for Halloween with "push here" decorations, of course my 8 year old pushed the button only to have the man jump out from behind the counter and snatch the toy off the counter as he scolded my child saying don't touch anything!!! Needless to say I returned my rental early and had enterprise pick me up!! I will NEVER Utilize hertz again. read more

My last review went to the "spam" zone so I figured I would start all over in hopes that people never use this location. I have also contacted Hertz Customer Care and haven't heard back yet. Had a terrible experience with this location. Made an arrangement to be picked up at the auto body shop and taken back to the location to get my car. Confirmed the day prior and called 1 hour prior to my pick up time to give them a heads up. Both times the person I spoke to said it would be no problem. I was told to call them when I got to the shop and they would send some one to pick me up. When I called to let them know I was at the shop the person I spoke to told me they won't pick me up from my location, they are too busy to accommodate and that I need to call a different Hertz to pick me up. I called the main 800 number to verify that was true and they said that it shouldn't have been a problem and that each location should be able to pick up within a 30 mile radius and my location is much closer than that. On top of this, I had to inconvenience someone to come pick up my kid and car seat so my child didn't have to wait while I try and figure out who is going to get me to my rental car. I ended up having a complete stranger who happened to be heading in the direction of a different Hertz location take me. I not only was inconvenienced by this garbage service but also got a car I could barely fit my car seats in since the other location only had compact cars available (not their problem and I don't blame them). I requested at the time of booking a vehicle I could fit comfortably in with my car seats as I am over 6ft tall and have 2 car seats. I would never do business with this location again. read more

Needed a 4WD vehicle for a trip into the backcountry, not an AWD (Escape etc). Stopped in here to see what they had the week before renting. Staff said they would have a 4WD available, price got even cheaper when they asked about AAA. Had a Chevy Silverado on day scheduled to pick up. Staff suggested buying a pre-paid tank of fuel (just turn vehicle back-in at any level), after AAA discounts I couldnt fill the tank for what the charge was...Overall satisfied and would do business here again, staff was friendly and helpful. Seems like most of the problems mentioned have to do with on-line booking and people in a hurry, I plan ahead... and prefer talking with people. read more

If you are looking to experience horrible custumer service! Please come in to Hertz in Temecula. Look for Veronica or Donika Hispanic lady black hair. . I got a car from a location in Oceanside the car was driving very weird on the freeway and I didn't feel comfortable. I called the place in Oceanside and they told me to go to the nearest hertz and they would take care of me. I called her and she said it wouldn't be more than one hour. When I Arriaved at 1 pm I was told to wait until 4 pm. AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!!!! Although I could see a lot of cars being dropped off and even told them I didn't need a clean car I just needed a car ... She still said sorry there is nothing I can do. When I asked to speak to a manager she said they don't have one!!! I called the Oceanside location, she called the office in Temecula and apparently they were very rude to her too . So I was inconvenience and told to go to the riverside location 35 miles away. Anyways beware!!!! If you can go somewhere else go !!! Don't come here ! read more
