Okay so Dale Heys asked me to call him because he "wanted to make things right" only after I posted my review here on Yelp, not when I originally contacted him. I called him to give him the chance to rectify this matter. I explained to him the situation. He claimed that he never received my initial phone call to speak to him about this matter. He listened to me, and then told me he had to talk to his dad? That was 1 week ago - never heard back from him. It would have been better if he would have just not even contacted me, because now he has added insult to injury and shows that he really does not care about customer satisfaction. He cannot use the excuse that he didn't know about my problem, because I spoke directly to him. Do yourself a favor and don't use this company, they don't care about their customers. I've started to write this review several times and each time my blood pressure rises and I get more and more upset. I would love to share the comedy of the situtation, however it would be a farce at best. Let's just say the problem started at the downstairs toilet. When the plummers from Heys arrived, I was asked about a box that's suppose be somewhere in my garage, which we don't have. I even went to my neighbors who have the same model of home, and asked about this box. They didn't have one either. After this crazy back and forth, I asked why they didn't want to snake the 'clean out' sewer where the water seemed to be coming from? Anyway, I could go on, but the bottom line is Heys charged me $203.50 not to open my blockage. But, instead, insisted they would have to come back, at their convience, to tear up my front yard for hundreds more. After, stupidly, paying Heys, I still had the problem. So, I called another company. The new company came out and, after about an hour, they broke through the blockage from the same 'clean out' Heys gave up on in favor of digging up my front yard and charging me hundreds for unnesassary work. I, of course, had to pay the other company, but they actually did the work. And, didn't try to jack up the costs. In short, Heys is why when a homeowner needs a plummer they cringe asking...who can I trust? It's not Heys! read more

Had a toilet in my condo that was going to overflow because of a clog in the main line. Diana in the office was great at keeping me updating on the arrival time of the plumber, Gustavo, to fix the problem. He showed up in the early portion of the window that was given to me and got straight to work. The clog was more severe than either of us expected, but he took care of it fast and helped out with a couple of other issues that he noticed. Really appreciate all Heys did. read more

The day started out on a very sour note. Standing water in both the shower in master bath and the tub in 2nd bath and toilets not flushing . Called a company to deal with a clog in the drain but was told they could not come out for 4 days. Can't not have restroom use for that long as my wife and I are both unwell and need them to be available. Was referred to Heys by a friend and as luck would have it they were able to set up someone to come by ASAP! Jason showed up a couple of hours later and set to work to snake the drain. Unfortunately the access pipes in these homes in OO2 and OO1 are not very large and he could only use a small snake for the 2" acccess. Bad news was the snake was not big enough and could not go far enough. Jason kept at it but it was futile. He sent a camera down the line and it was determined that the clog was out in the yard which meant maybe digging up the driveway and/or yard to go down 7'. Now we are talking big money and I'm feeling sick to my stomach all over again. Jason was in no way pushing for this and I could tell it was the last thing he wanted to do as well. As a final suggestion he said we could open the drywall in the garage by the washing machine and use a wider pipe to utilize a bigger snake. Success!! He was able to clear the drain of the clog that ended up being 10' out in the street! Even more big money! I applaud Jason's work ethic and going above and beyond. Had a leak in the wall. Next day (today) repairman Mauricio showed up by expected time. Very polite, informative of what the problem was, what happened , and how he was going to repair it. Ended up replacing shower drain pipes that were old, leaking, and worn. Cleaned up afterwards leaving no mess at all. And re-informed of what he had done making sure I understood. We had a clogged kitchen sink back at the end of October in our condo. Because we have had so many plumbing issues due to shared pipes (including root issues), I called the HOA and they sent Hey's Plumbing. They were there for 15 minutes and charged $202.50. The HOA billed us because they said the plumber said it was all the homeowners issue because there were a few strands of pasta that fell down the sink. If I had known I was paying directly I would have asked what they charged first. There are many companies that clean a drain for $99. Ask the price before you call them. The technician even had the nerve to accept a tip from my brother. The only reason my brother tipped him is because he thought the HOA was paying. If he knew they were charging 202.50 for 15 minutes of work..... read more

I called Heys to fix a water pressure issue at my house. I already knew the water pressure regulator was bad, but I had them come over to diagnose the issue. They confirmed my suspesion and proceeded to replace the regulator. After about 20 minutes, my water pressure issue was fixed! I am very happy with the service provided by Heys. I am a bit confused when someone says that their Association mandates that unit owners must use Hey's Plumbing or any Contractor that the Association uses, when the item or problem being fixed is exclusively that of the unit owner. If an association made such a requirement, I will suggest THAT WOULD BE A SERIOUS OVER-REACH and not likely supported in your CC&Rs, RRs or Davis-Stirling. The only time I know where this can happen is when the Association is using some "proprietary systems" that are used 'in common" for a building or group of units, such as a satellite dish connection to a single community operated system dish for multiple units in a building. CC&Rs should clearly outline where the line is between Asso and Owner responsibilities and authority. I have been a board officer and director for 7+ years, and have never heard of any association making any such requirement, and I would like to know HOW THAT WOULD WORK OR BE LEGAL. We have used HEYS and other Plumbing Contractors for large and small jobs over the years and we have never over-reached by telling owners they have to use "our contractors!" In the case of Heys, our homeowers, at their discretion, have contracted Heys for their Unit problems, and I have not heard any complaints from our people about them and our associations have generally been served well by Heys, when chosen. As for price for work done ... everyone should be conscious of price and compare, and in the case of Associations, go through the RFP competitive process to get the best provider/service deal ... that goes for Associations and smart owners. My main purpose in this evaluation and commentary is TO CAUTION HOA OWNERS that they should CHALLENGE ANY ASSOCIATION THAT SAYS THEY MUST HIRE THEIR CHOSEN OR RECOMMENDED SERVICE PROVIDER, WHEN THE HOMEOWNER IS PAYING FOR IT ... You Association Manager and Board Members should be able to give you chapter and verse in Association DOCUMENTS that make that requirement "lawful." If your association has some proprietary systems then I am sure there is documentation for such requirements and 'they' should be able to outline that for you. read more

Wanted to write an update after speaking with Dale, the owner. Basically if you are a HOA Association you are paying much, much more than they quote individuals (for example rootering is $140 OR $400 for the association.) And since they don't care about their work or customers you will have problems and lawsuits from your homeowners. When these issues arise, Dale will let the homeowner know that the association is at fault and to take it up with them. There must be better plumbing companies to use that will not cause MORE problems than they solve. read more

I had several intense questions about a plumbing situation and she was knowledgeable enough to answer them. The came to repair my leaky bath tube faucets but it kept leaking after a few weeks. This happened 3 times but since they did it for free I didn't complain. Then it Leaked again the fourth time but this time they wanted to charge me. I complained that even if the warranty time had passed it was ridiculous that the faucet kept leaking. Then I was transferred to this rude woman manager who changed the story saying that the entire piping behind the faucet needed to be replaced. My question is why didn't they recommended to do that in the first place. Once a problem appears isn't it obvious that the root cause should be fixed instead of patching it temporarily? At the end the story ended up being a lie because after the fourth time the faucet never leaked and I had some other plumber take a look at it and was told the piping is in good condition read more

I just saw your response to my review Mr. Heys. The comments you made are simply untrue. Your own employee, Jessica, explicitly apologized and stated to me your technician on the first day failed to contact me or my wife before he arrived. Secondly, Mike, your technician on the second day did not take 1 hour to work on the valve replacement. In fact, it is in your response for the first time that I am told that your company charged us for 1.5 hrs of labor. Your assertions are simply UNTRUE!!! However, let's say for the sake of argument that what you say is true, then why not clearly state these facts on your invoice when my wife asked for an itemized list of costs? I would be more than happy to post the redacted invoice to clearly show that parts and labor is listed generically without itemization (perhaps done intentionally so that customers cannot dispute the charges at that time which enables your company to make misstatements later because surely if Mike had written 1.5 hrs, my wife would have disagreed with him at that time?) From my brief perusal of the other negative comments by other dissatisfied customers, your responses are empty so that the public can see that you care enough to comment but really do nothing to rectify the situation. Thus, a discussion with you would be an exercise in futility. As such, I stand by my review of your company. It doesn't take much to satisfy a customer, perhaps be up front about your costs or prices. Simply informing your customers about what your costs and obtaining their consent prior to conducting repairs instead of arbitrarily charging them whatever you feel is most beneficial for your company hoping that the customers would simply pay and shut up would garner your company more praises. I have clearly spent more time than your company deserves in writing this response but I felt that your public comments cannot go unchallenged. I truly hope that my review will at least educate the public as to the level of quality they should expect from your company as it is my belief that that purpose is the basis for yelp. read more

So i get an email from Dale Heys saying he was personally going to fix his tech's bad work on my toilet and that was on 12/23/13. It is 1/13/14 today and i never heard back from him. I replied the same day. Now i wanna make it clear i was not expecting anything from him and his email was a bit of a surprise in itself, but i am not so surprised he did not follow through. As i said in my initial review: SERVICE ONE COMPANY DOES BETTER QUALITY WORK! I STAND BY THAT STATEMENT 100%! Heys plumbing did a complete re-pipe of my home over 10 years ago and I was extremely satisfied with the results. They were very cost competitive, professional, draped the interior to minimize dust, cleaned up every night and insured that we had hot water to at least one bathroom and the kitchen before the end of each day.....job well done! 10 years later we are in need of a new water heater which is to be expected with 3 kids and constant showers and laundering. Once again I called and spoke with Dale Heys. He gave me ball park figure of what a replacement unit would cost and personally stopped by the house within an hour and actually gave me a lower bid as he secured a better price from the manufacturer! I told him to proceed with the replacement and within a few hours his technician had removed the old unit, replaced several fittings and include a safety pan under the unit for no additional cost.! I am confused by some of the prior posts as my dealing with John and Dale Heys have been extremely positive and I certainly have no reservations recommending their company. Brad K. read more

Our water main broke and water was erupting from our yard. We had no water to our house and we had no clue what to do. Jason from Heys came out and immediately diagnosed the problem, found the break underground, put us at ease, and had a brand new and upgraded water main installed for us the next morning. Heys Plumbing has done several jobs for me, most recently fixing a leak under my kitchen sink. When I thought it was because of the old garbage disposal, it was actually our faucet causing the leak. They came back for 2 different service calls and only charged me for one. They give reasonable advice and do not try to sell you on anything unnecessary. The servicemen have always been polite and on time. The scheduler tried everything she could to accommodate my crazy schedule and it was really appreciated.
