My husband and I are big burger fans, and big fans of Honest Abe's, so we decided to check out this gourmet burger joint in town. We really enjoyed it! The burgers were amazing. There was a great variety of burger types and burger toppings. I LOVE that the beef comes from a Nebraska farm! I know that is also the case for Honest Abe's, but this place is unique for being the burger side of a cattle farm. The cattle farm came first, and the burger restaurant was an addition to their business plan. How creative, and unique to Nebraska. I also must say I liked their fries better than Honest Abe's. I HIGHLY recommend that you make a visit! When we went, it was busy, but not as busy as Honest Abe's, where you sometimes have to stand in line out the door. It also has more space. The service was fast, the staff was friendly, and the burgers were made with quality ingredients. You can build your own burger, or you can choose one of their signature burgers. Plus you can choose between regular, sweet potato, or waffle fries. Everything we had was yummy! Gourmet burger joint disappoints. I'll start off saying that I've been looking for an amazing burger joint. I love burgers, onion rings, waffle fries, cheese curds, anything that goes along with the American Fried dream. Unfortunately the place was busy so it was a long wait to order and hard to find a seat. The place needs some sound treatment as there is always a dull roar in there. I ordered the jalapeno cream cheese burger and my wife ordered the pbb. Mine was okay. I liked the taste of the meat, and wished that the center was hotter. The cream cheese wasn't gooey at all. The bun overpowered any of the extra flavors you wish to get from a good burger. The PBB was good, the egg wasn't overcooked so you could get the yolk flavor throughout. Unfortunately again the bun overpowered any sense of good flavor. We also go the trio of sides. The waffle fries are delicious, but how do you mess those up? The sweet potato fries are good but not as good as the watering hole. The cheese curds are among one of the grossest things I've ever eaten. It tasted like cheese in a beer funnel cake batter. Actually you couldn't taste the cheese...mostly a beer flavored funnel cake. Definitely nowhere it should be. The amount of grease in the trio left my stomach weary. Overall for the price ($25 for 2 people with waters) there are WAYYY better burgers in town. Parkway lanes is one of them and cheaper to boot. I am one who is willing to pay a premium for GOOD food but this really missed the mark. Therefore the price bugs me even more. If you are in Denver try the Cherry Cricket...we ordered nearly the same thing with 2 beers for less. The burgers there set a very good standard for any other burger joint. PROS: 1.) Good Food, great quality. We were really pleased with the locally sourced items. BUT...please read further: CONS: 1.) Their service left A LOT to be desired. There was one other, already dining patron in the whole place (in other words they were not busy, at all). The gal upfront who would be taking our order never once addressed us, made no eye contact. No "hello" "how can I help you?" "can I take your order?" Nothing. I inquired about a bread type, she said she had "no idea" and left it at that. She took our orders and payment, handed me a card with a number and said nothing else. We weren't sure if we waited or were to go ahead and sit down. So we went ahead and got drinks then took a seat outside (see below re: drinks and area cleanliness) After a five minute wait I walked back up towards the counter to see about our orders, again no one said anything to me. I had our numbered-card in my hand. A fella at the grill station looked out at me and my card. He said something to the other man cooking with him, then came around the corner a minute later with our food in his hands. I moved towards him as he's walking past me, and said "I think that may be my order," showing him my numbered card (knowing we were only ONE of a couple of orders at that time, two other folks had meandered in by that time). He looks at the card, pulls back from me and says "I've got it." And literally without words or pause, no smile, no genuine regard, walked outside, plopped the food down and walked back in. 2.) The drink machine lacked carbonation. So we paid approx $2.00 for a flat soda. The drink machine valve also leaked. When I went to fill up my Sprite, it poured out the sides of the valve, all over my hand and onto the floor. After cleaning up my wet, sticky hand, I moved over to get some ketchup. The pump was nearly empty, so when I pressed down on the lever, ketchup splattered out...on the counter, on my arm, my shirt (which was unfortunately new and white) and the sleeve of my friend. 3.) The dining areas were very dirty. The counter//table tops smelled soured. There's no way they are using clean water, adequate cleaning products, or rags to clean. The floor was sticky. Summary: The food was good, but the service so poor, with a clear lack of cleanliness, I'd really hesitate giving them more money. Especially after reading over more reviews and realizing others have also noted the lack of cleanliness. I own a business and know how much hard work goes into offering an item or service. But if you can't procure QUALITY customer service you're not cut out for whatever it is your are selling. People long remember how you treated them often beyond what you actually sold. Both matter, but in this case the lack of service far outweighed the quality product. I can buy local, organic, non-GMO beef any day of the week and grill it up. read more

Absolutely disgusting. First off, one of us ordered the git up burger and after our order had been in for twenty minutes the waitress came back and said they were out of the sausage for it...there was literally only 6 other people in the restaurant, how did it take the cook 20 minutes to realize you were out of something? Next, we both ordered our burgers med rare, after FORTY FIVE minutes of waiting, they came out hockey puck well done, and the sides and cheese curds were ice cold. We asked for new sides and curds and the waitress paused and said "I guess". Completely unprofessional. The manager on duty was sitting at the bar the whole time and never came to talk to us, nor did he get off the bar stool once while we were there. Anyway, the food was dry, underseasoned, the sauce tasted scorched, and everything was cold. We are maybe two bites of our burgers, weren't offered anything else. AND THEN, we went into the bathrooms and they were FILTHY. There was urine all over the seats, a plunger with toilet paper stuck all over it, the floor was sticky, and the toilet paper dispenser was covered in some sort of film. The place was so dirty. At the end of the experience we paid $40 for two shitty burgers and cheese curds that we did not eat. Never will I return. Go to Burger King across the street, trust me. read more

I love the farm-to-table concept, and that's probably the only reason I would return. I was super excited for the Holdredge location to open, b/c I remember the Han Seoulo burger being so delicious at the original location. But, when we went, the burger wasn't great...not bad, but lacking something. We went back a week later and I got the Loco burger, and I finally put my finger on it - it was so dry...like they didn't put enough sauce on their burgers, and the patty itself wasn't seasoned well...just some salt would be great. On the other hand, the waffle fries were great - fresh, crispy, and well seasoned. Otherwise, I know that having servers is a new concept for them (vs. patrons ordering at the front like at the other location), but their service is off...not rude, but not quite on point. Our server asked if we wanted a box, while I was literally taking my 3rd bite of food. He had just brought us our food less than 10 minutes prior! So weird. I asked for an extra side of ranch, which I never got, and when we were ready to pay, he completely ghosted...waited almost 15 minutes to pay. read more

Every thing here is super high quality. All fresh. The fries are amazing and cut waffle style. Make sure and get the honey chipotle dipping sauce. It's delicious. A good burger, but definitely not the best in Lincoln. The beef seems to be of a pretty high quality, and they cooked my burger to a perfect medium. My companion and I spit a jalepeno stuffed burger and the bleu cheese stuffed burger. The bleu burger lacked flavor, and another friend got burned after he took his first bite of his bleu burger and all the excess juice/melted cheese flew out. The jalepeno burger on the other hand was amazing but still lacked something; I'm not sure what. I was going to give this place a 3.5 after the price was figured in...but the cheese bites. It's awesome that the gourmet burger trend has hit Lincoln, and great that there's a place offering great burgers with largely "local" ingredients. There aren't many burgers even remotely close to this in Lincoln, except Abes and (possibly) Five Guys. Those are both great places too, but Abes is a bit smaller (and dirtier) when I was there, and Five Guys uses peanut oil for its fries, which eliminates a lot of familes with nut allergy concerns. I've tried about a quarter of the burgers on the menu here and all have been fantastic. The fries, both regular and sweet potato, are also top notch. This really is a much, much better meal than you'd get at long-in-the-tooth local eateries like Lazlos, for less money. It's also nice not supporting a big national chain like the nearby Red Robin. Finally, it's always nice to be at a place where you can see back in the kitchen, and you aren't freaked out by what you see. The kitchen and the rest of the place are clean! -- addendum -- I do know that Crave was recently targeted by some folks as part of a smear campaign, because Crave didn't prohibit an "open gun carry" group from meeting there. Some folks wanted them to stop the group from meeting, but that's a non-issue to me, since this is Nebraska and you see open carry quite a bit, like you do in Florida, Virginia, and other states. It's allowed under the state consitution and under the federal one too after the recent court rulings, so if you start to boycot every restaurant where they dine collectively or individually, you might as well cook at home. Many of us here grew up in an agricultural or rural area where it was pretty normal so... no phobias on my part and I'd be kind of surprised if a place tied to local ranchers had any gun phobias. LOL Anyway this restaurant is located in South Lincoln where the clientelle is relatively quite educated and affluent, so the tie-dyed crowd probably are up in some central-lincoln apartment anyway and it's much ado about nothing. Bottom line I guess is I'm kinda impressed that "Crave didn't cave" to all the political stuff and serves everyone without trampling on the first amendment peacable assembly and free speech rights, as well. read more

I want to rate Crave higher... We come here semi often and I think the burgers are quite good! It's more about the cleanliness and upkeep of the restaurant itself. WIPE THE TABLES DOWN! Wash the glass doors and windows! CLEAN the bathrooms like your life depended on it (because in a way it does!). Customers notice these things and it can make or break a business. If the dining room is unkept, is the kitchen too? Clean it up and they will come! read more

First of all, I'm highly suspicious of the negative review that said red robin was better than HF. We've lived in Lincoln now for 6 months, and my wife and I took the kids to HF for the first time today. I had the steakhouse burger (special order swapped mustard for mayo and sourdough bread) with waffle fries and honey chipotle sauce. I won't say that this was the best burger I've ever had, but quite frankly, I can't remember one better, so it may just as well be. I became aware of them a few months ago by googling healthy restaurants in Lincoln - but for whatever reason we hadn't gone until today. Okay... $11 for a burger can seem a bit high. But let's assess this. When I go to a fast food chain and get a burger and fries, I generally don't feel full or good afterward. So if you go to a sit down restaurant, say Outback or Applebee's, and order a burger you're going to be paying at least 8 or 9 bucks. So tack on a few extra bucks for quality ingredients, local ownership, AND local production (which is a big deal)... It's worth a try, right? Figure it this way: to get a burger even in the same ballpark at any other place you're going to be tipping someone $10 or better at the end of the meal anyway, and when I say same ballpark, nothing I can recall right now is even half as good as what I had today. So, there you go. After we were done eating, Ryan, the GM(?), asked us how they did. I almost didn't have words. It was phenomenal, and I felt full and didn't have that lagging gut feeling that I get from fast food. For value and price point, HF gets an A+. Other places hide the lower quality of beef with toppings and extras. While HF has amazing sauces (well the two we got were) and fresh condiments, they don't need them... the burgers are flavorful enough that they don't need to hide anything. In a market such as Lincoln, HF is way ahead of the curve on some things as it pertains to health and quality ingredients. My wife and I have lived in 4 major metropolitan areas in the past ten years and have eaten at many good (and not so good) restaurants. The healthy diet concept has not really caught on here yet unfortunately, but it seems that an awakening is already starting. In many other places in the country when a person hears the word health, they think of good nutrition, organic food, grass fed, free roaming, and a host of other buzzwords. However, in Lincoln, I have noticed from conversations at work that when a person thinks of health, they think of "doctor," not food. My wife (who does our grocery shopping) has said that she believes that Lincoln is about 10 or perhaps 15 years behind other large towns and cities in the healthy eating movement. As a result, there really aren't a lot of healthy eating establishments in Lincoln. But we are happy to have found HF Crave, and fairly soon, Lincoln is going to realize what a gem this place is. I visited Crave for the first time last week. at 12:30pm there were only a few people in the restaurant. The counter service was great. I picked up my cup and attempted to get iced tea.. it was empty, as was the lemonade and the Dr. Pepper. I've never been to a restaurant before where so many drinks were empty. I could see if they were busy but there were not and there were 4 employees that I could see. They did come out and refill it for me. My food arrived and the waffle fries were so salty there were inedible. The burger was ok.. nothing to write home about. read more

We go here often, not only are they the most delicious burgers I've ever had... but! The waffle fries are also amazing, their sweet potato fries are wonderful, their sauces are delicious... and they are allergy friendly. That is what is important. We don't get to eat out often because of my husbands severe dairy allergy, but they are bend over backwards kind and willing to help us, and we have never had any reactions despite them having plenty of (sooooo delicious) options for cheese. I hear they also have gluten free buns, also sourced locally from a nearby bakery if you have celiacs disease or a gluten intolerance. I would highly recommend them over visiting the chains that are in the same strip mall, get real & locally sourced food! I really wanted to like this place, but the fact is it was really gross. All I can say is I am willing to give this place another chance. My husband got the Cowboy and it looked fine. His sweet potato fries where a bit over cooked, though. I got the normal "hand-cut" fries and the Guac Burger and I added mushrooms to it. Now, I have been to many different "gourmet" burger places in Lincoln and usually always add mushrooms to what I order. My burger was so greasy it was inedible. It looked amazing, the presentation was flawless, but as soon as I picked up my burger the grease oozed out of it and puddled in my fries. My husbands burger had barely any grease and was normal looking. Of my burger, I only ate the top bun and the guacamole, and I rarely leave food on my plate. I am willing to give this place a second chance because the excessive grease may have been the result of me adding mushrooms, but they are able to successfully add mushroom at places like Dempsey's, Honest Abe's, and Nitroburger with out such greasy results. Maybe it was just the end of a shift for someone, or maybe it was just me. So, I will review again after I try Crave again. I just hope next time it is worth the visit. :( read more

They also have a interesting selection of toppings and have a rotating menu every couple months. Thank You Hollenbeck Farms! For giving me a reason to eat a hamburger again in Lincoln, Nebraska! Coming from the heart of KC, we had a place called Blanc. The BEST (sorry Hollenbeck!) hamburgers in the country! There were many ways I was spoiled while taking up residence on the Plaza in KC, and one sure was the easy access to Blanc. Now, the foolish chap I am, I moved from the South Pointe area to the center of town where we are kings of "good food quickly". I still travel to South Pointe to get my hair cut once every 5-6 weeks, now I will make a trip once every week or two to go to Crave! The food is great. There is something to be said about grass fed beef. I have always said this and people look at me like I want to build a home from hemp and drive a Prius (no offense Prius-ites!). I will take my gas guzzling '29 home, my not to efficient '07 Jetta...and my grass fed beef! Their whole "thing" is that they are completely local. Your burger is served with a Le Quartier bun (made 50 feet away from them) and all of thier food is grown locally. I need not tout the Sweet Potato fries. I do not need to tell you HOW AWESOME THEY ARE! The prices are worth it. Right at $10 for a cheese burger and sweet potato fries. Not everyone can afford this place... which is why its on the south end of town! If youre looking for cheap, classless, gut wrenching, colon clogging food, run across the street and get you a Big Mac, which will cost you more than $10 in long term effects! Though this may not be Blanc, its all I have while I sustain my "tour of duty" in Lincoln. Blanc, I shall return! read more

Had heard good reviews, was excited to try. Waffle fries were cold, but gladly replaced with new warm fries. Burger had grilled mushrooms instead of grilled onions, and had previously had a convo with worker if he thought grilled onions would be good on pepper jack burger. I asked him "I may be wrong, but didn't I order grilled onions?" he said no, but would bring grilled onions out for me if I wanted. I said no thank you, at that point I was annoyed enough with the place. The burger was fine, but the bun was cold. Overall, negative experience. I much prefer five guys and will visit them next time I'm craving a burger. We ordered 2 plain burgers with fries, 1 specialty burger, 1 coke, 1 beer. Total was $39. We have been anxiously awaiting the opening of HF Crave. We were very impressed by the logo and creative edge in the design of the restaurant. However, we were so disappointed after our first experience. We ordered the Cowboy Up and the Stuffed Pepper Jack burgers as well as the sweet potato and waffle fries. After we had already ordered, we were informed that the Stuffed Pepper Jack would take about 10 minutes. 18 minutes later...we finally got our food. We paid $21 - a price that seems to be that of a full service restaurant rather than a fast casual restaurant. If we had gotten drinks, it would have been well over $25. The small portion of fries we received were cold and it was obvious they had been sitting there for a while. There was one soggy piece of romaine lettuce on the Pepper Jack burger...and the Cowboy Up burger was very dry and had zero seasoning. This was not worth the price we paid. We are hopeful that Crave will only get better as it is the second week since opening. Major changes will have to take place for us to reconsider dining here again. read more

Watch out, Red Robin..I LOVE this place! I had heard many good things about it and stopped in late tonight for a burger and fries to go. The restaurant was clean and inviting, and my burger was made fresh with exactly the toppings I wanted. The staff was helpful, hardworking, and excited to be there. The burger tasted GREAT, and the bun from the local bakery farther down the strip mall was a great touch. I didn't think the chipotle mayo I chose to complement my sweet potato fries would work well, but the pair was quite tasty. This is one of many local Lincoln restaurants that I will miss. An ultimate meal would be to have a burger and fries here and an ice cream or shake from the UNL Dairy Store! The only thing that could make this place better is if they had a version of Red Robin's Banzai Burger. I would definitely recommend you try this place if you are in the vicinity. read more
