First visit to the HI-FI was a Tom Waits tribute show, and it most certainly will not be my last. The talent and acoustics were great. Nice bar, and a killer bartender that managed to keep up with what seemed like 20 patrons at a time. While he did keep up, the only criticism I'd give is that they really should probably have two bar tenders working on such a busy night. Definitely recommend keeping an eye on their Facebook page so you don't miss out on any upcoming shows. This is a great option for a relatively inexpensive excuse to get out and see some of Indianapolis' arts & entertainment. read more

Great little concert venue in the Fountain Square area. We went on a Saturday night to see the band Red Wanting Blue and I was highly impressed. It has an inviting and intimate feel since the place only holds around 200 people at most (I'm guessing). They also offer a good craft beer selection and the service was quick and friendly. Besides being a little difficult to find (on the second floor), it is a real gem! We saw Brendan James there and it was amazing! The smaller size makes it seem like you are at a private concert! The Hi-Fi is easily one of my favorite concert venues in Indy. It's located in the very hip and happening Fountain Square with some great places to eat or grab a drink pre-show (I suggest Siam Square for dinner and then grab a beer or coffee at Square Cat Vinyl!). Cool intimate venue showcasing both local as well as bigger name bands. Lionel at the door is always friendly and quick to flash a genuine smile as you walk in to enjoy the show. The bartenders are always on their a game in the fast pace environment, and their selection of beers includes Indiana favorites from breweries like sun king and three Floyd's (score!) as well as the "national beer of Texas" lone star. This is my all time favorite concert venue. It's a great atmosphere as it is both upbeat and low key at the same time. Be are and get there at least 20 minutes before the concert because it fills up fast. Beers are typically local, but a little pricey. However tickets to the concerts are more than reasonable. Service at the bar top is always good. As it is in fountain square, it makes for a great week day date to eat next door at Pure Eatery before heading in for the concert. read more

I am so excited about The Hi-Fi's expansion! It's always been one of my favorite music venues because they have local beer on tap and I never feel unsafe there. My own gripe about The Hi-Fi was its size, i thought that they could attract more mid-level bands than they were if they expanded. Now after their expansion, the First Friday show didn't feel overcrowded (like it could before) and I loved that there was no wait for drinks. I'm beyond giddy about the future for this venue and what bands they'll attract. read more

I love The Hi-Fi! Despite nearly doubling in size, The Hi-Fi has maintained its' cool relaxed vibe. I love the diversity in shows. Everything from hip-hop to Bollywood and all are reasonably priced. I've been to several shows there and have never had an issue. Plenty of free parking in Fountain Square. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Wonderful new staple in Indy. read more

This venue has been remodeled since the last time we were there. We were pleasantly surprised! We arrived early enough to snag one of the few tables with two high bar chairs along the wall. The rest is standing room or dancing room only. The bar is on the opposite wall and serves various beers selections and hard liquor. There is also a selection of t-shirts and other products offered for sale by the artists as soon as you walk in. The sound is really loud so be prepared. I personally like it. read more

Nice little venue for up and coming acts. Nothing like seeing a small act on their way up. You and about 200 people is all this place holds so it's a very unique experience. Sound is not bad considering the acoustics are probably horrible in there. Little hard to find for out of towners, but park in Fountain Square and it's not to hard to find. What a nice little concert venue! We came for the Elephant Revival concert and loved the place. It's smaller, obviously, which is a nice way to get a more intimate feeling show. The acoustics also seemed about right, as the music was the perfect volume and the bartender could still hear me ordering drinks. And speaking of drinks, the bar and bartenders were great. Good variety of drinks and plenty of staff keeping patrons in drink. I'll definitely be keeping an eye for other shows to come through here. read more

I wanted to share with everyone what happened to me and my wife last night when we went to Hi Fi in the Fountain Square area of Indianapolis to see the Bob Marley tribute on April 20, 2018. I was hassled at the door by the promoter (Old Soul Entertainment) and the door person. They were quite rude and condescending to me. They even tried to charge me $1.50 extra for using my credit card instead of cash. This is a violation of Visa/MasterCard policy, as the merchant is supposed to incur the minimal cost (usually 1.8-3.5% of the transaction amount) as a cost of doing business. As result of being hassled by the promoter, they ultimately refused to admit my wife and myself. This is the worst customer service I have ever had in Indianapolis at any restaurant/club/bar. This is uncharacteristic for a business in Indy, which generally has very good service, as it is now a major sports and convention city. So were not able to attend the Bob Marley tribute performance last night, which was the reason we went out last night. Fortunately the Pacer game was being shown next door at the Red Lion Pub, which has good food and very good service and nice people, so were at least able to watch the Pacer game there. I would recommend to people to not support Hi Fi in Fountain Square, and especially not support any event hosted by the promoter Old Soul Entertainment - as they apparently have contempt for their own customers. If this venue or this promoter attempt to charge you extra for using a credit card instead of paying cash, I suggest you refuse to allow them to do so and instead submit a complaint to the Visa website at usa.visa.com. My wife and I will never patronize either of these 2 businesses again. read more

This is a great venue. What a contribution to the local Indy music scene! This intimate setting will have you up and close to hand picked touring artists, as well as high quality local acts. You will find this traditional single store front right in the middle of lively Fountain Square, where there is more than plenty to do before and/or after the show. The space itself is simple with clean design hosting a well balanced sound system. Seating is limited, so be advised, but who wants to stand anyways when your favorite band is killing it? The bar has a rotating tap list of high quality and progressive beers from local breweries. Liquor is available, as well as a small selection of bottles and canned beer. Bar service has been good, even on busy nights. Make friends quick with the bar keep as there is no waitstaff. Prices are a little on the high side, so a pre-show drink at Kuma's Corner or Revelucion may be a good idea. read more

It's tough to find, but it's a diamond in the rough. The updates that they did make the space so much more enjoyable and the new bar is fantastic. There is a decent selection of beer and wine, they always have local on tap. There is a show there almost 3 times a week and First Fridays are always free. This was a crazy cool venue. Small but really made me get to listen to the music. I went on a random night to attend a Drum and Bass DJ night and it was my first of any kind. The dance floor was fun and the drinks were great. There is even a restaurant in the same building that i fantastic to eat at if you are waiting for something to start there as well. The guy at the door charged more than what was listed online but only by $2.00 but they didn't accept cards which is all I had so I had to go to the ATM across the street. It was a very welcoming environment and I would definitely see another show there. read more

I've seen a few local shows here and can say that I really love the HI-FI. I think the sound always sounds great and I like the size of the venue. Perfect for the introvert who likes to pretend they love crowds every once in a while. Comfortable. I don't drink so I cant speak on the craft of a cocktail but there's plenty of room to dance and vibe out...great energy to the place in general. read more

Recently went here for the first time to see one of my favorite musicians. I would definitely come back again! It's a small venue that has a very intimate feel. They have a full bar and attentive bar staff. As a craft beer fan I was very happy with their draft selection- not a lot of options but the ones they had were all local and delicious. Stuck in Indianapolis for a week (car issues), and discovered the Hi Fi - and a great show by a band I'd longed to see. This place is solid gold - I do a lot of concerts, I like small venues/bars more than bigger places, and the layout, vibe, bar, employees, sound, location, and size at the Hi Fi are top notch. What a great night, what a great place. If I ever open a place, it'll be nearly a mirror of the Hi Fi. Or, maybe I can buy it if I hit the lottery. read more
