I appreciate the wide variety of brands - local included - despite the fact that prices are a bit steep. This is my neighborhood grocery store and I come here quite frequently to pick up the grocery staples or a late night snack. Some specific observations that are reflected in the rating here: - They do not know how to make an omelette with cheese. You have to put the cheese in while the eggs are still liquid, not after cause then it's just a slab of partially melted cheese sitting on top of cooked eggs and it's disgusting - Seamless delivery is horrible. It's already quoted as taking an hour to delivery when most restaurants that prepare food and don't just simply box it have shorter delivery estimates. But despite this, they still miss the estimated time frame. My latest order took 2 hours to arrive. So take this place as you will. For convenience if you're in the neighborhood but not a first choice. read more

Hi Mango is open 24 hours. It is the most useful health food/organic shop where you can stop and get some beers and snacks on the way home after an already super late night. They have the delicious grapefruit beer from Germany Schöfferhofer. And you can buy bottles and can individually. Not the cheapest deal but a great way to taste a variety of beers. I also like to take a gander at the salty snacks. I did notice they have my favorite herbed salt from Germany too. And they have all kinds of decadent products, from almond butter to fancier granolas. I am a little suspicious of the outside produce that only gets a tarp thrown over it at night. I don't partake in those "fresh" foods. This place is overall pricey but stick to nightcap and snack and you will be fine. read more

I just had a very odd thing happen here. I have been coming here since 7/2020 and I have always liked the people. I stop in around 4-5 times a week, because we aren't the most consistent shoppers. When checking out, I had asked for a reusable bag (like I have done many times). The cashier rang me up and I paid. She grabbed a paper bag to put my groceries in (honest mistake). I asked her if I could get them in one of the green reusable bags. She said "20 cents", which I replied that I only had a few $50 bills. I thought we had moved past it and she proceeded to ring me up for .20. I was a bit startled and handed her a $50 thinking she wouldn't actually break it over .20 cents. I was wrong... The main draw for High Mango other than their location to where I live that they are open 24HRS, which is huge in Bushwick but also quite dangerous. Many a morning after going out I have woken up with gourmet this and organic that. The selection is very much geared toward the higher end and the prices reflect that. I love their beer selection and the produce is always good. They rarely carry any sort of major label dry goods but I have found some new favorites there like smoked celtic sea salt. Discrimination: So, I hate that I have to write a review of this manner. In short, coming home from work. Picking up some odds and ends for dinner. I'm walking along the store. Every aisle I walk through, I see the workers looking at me and one another. Two gentleman in the aisles and the 2 main guys at the cashier. I noticed this Bc I felt eyes on me and that uncomfortable feeling of silence. I didn't pay it too much attention. Then, approaching the cashier I look at a few items before my purchase. The two men at the cashier are speaking to one another in another Language and looking in my direction. So, I just decide to cash out (therefore, I wouldn't be of an in convenience). One of the gentleman, says nothing to me and starts scanning my items and not bagging any of it. Until it's all scanned; mind you a mountain of my goods were stacked on top of one another. Once finished, I see my total and he waits looking at me. I start ruffling for my money assuming he wanted my money first. The total was over $80 bucks- I give him cash and he gives me my change (no receipt). He stacks all my items overtop of cold goods, canned and fruit/vegetables in two bags. I try not to get frustrated but also very confused. I say thank you and walk out. NOT EVEN OUT THE DOOR! Just 5 feet from the register. I hear the register open again (no one on line) he takes out the cash of $20 dollar bills from under the register, speaks in another language to the second guy, counting it and holding it to the ceIling. The second guy noticed my look over my shoulder and just shock his head and looked down at his register. I HAVE NEVER FELT SO DISCRIMINATED IN MY OWN COMMUNITY Ever- mind you these men (I assume- are from the Middle East). I hope this post reaches the right person. You should never make a working class, successful person like myself feel this way. I just found a live MAGGOT crawling in my Chocolove brand dark chocolate bar (coffee crunch flavor). It's expiration date is Jan. 2017 i.e. last month. (I never thought a chocolate bar's expiration date meant much.) Alternatively, it's possible the little worm came out of the package of Sheila G's Brownie Brittle (expiration July 2017) that I was simultaneously eating and fell onto the chocolate bar. But I'm guessing it was in the chocolate bar. About to go return the stuff-we'll see what kind of customer service I get. Update: I took food & maggot back at 11:30 pm- luckily I was only two blocks away- and the young cashier, nervously laughing, very persistently encouraged me to trade it in for another one, claiming he's not allowed to issue refunds. I resolutely expressed my absolute disinterest in sampling further wares from the store, and he asked me to talk on the phone with the manager, who did not answer his phone. They have a pretty good beer selection and interesting organic food and snacks. The prices are high, I could never do my full shopping here. If you get a sandwich made to order, they are pretty good. One thing that really turns me off is that the pre-made sandwiches in the case can be old. Check the dates. Sometimes the 'packaged on' date will be four or five days before the the present date. They give it five days for the 'sell by' date and I almost always find sandwiches that are at the end days of that limit. Gross - why would I ever want to purchase a 7 dollar sandwich days and days old? If they do that for the sandwiches, I wonder how old the produce is that doesn't have to have dates marked. Flowers I have gotten here die pretty fast, I prefer the place a block down on Knickerbocker. I've been a very frequent customer of hi mango for the past two years. They're open 24/7, they have pretty much everything and it's close to my home. Last week, I went in there to buy so groceries and when I got to the beer corner I saw a huge rat running under the sandwiches counter. I rushed to let the cashier know that there is a rat walking around the store and he didn't really do anything. He didn't even seem surprised. I realize that there are rats and mice everywhere in the city, but lately the hygiene of the place is not the best. It smells like something died in most corners of the store, which maybe is actually the case since there is a rat in there. After I went home I shared this experience with my roommate and he said that he saw a rat as well several weeks ago. I've never been in there since. read more

This market has good products and good intentions in the grocery store department. We've found products that we love and are great...but here's the thing, if you find something you like, buy it ALL. Everything. And cherish the product and try to make it last because they will never ever bring it back. Every time we find something and get excited about it...they don't bring more. How is it possible that I am first? This place must be open for a year now and I know tons of people that love it! This is the bigger, better version of the original location on Flushing Ave. This place is awesome in so many ways... IT IS OPEN 24/7 - that, to me, is huge. Their selection is massive and considering the types of products that they carry and how convenient it is, the prices are very reasonable (cheaper than Hana and Brooklyn Natural). Smoothies are good, sandwiches and sushi are decent, beer and non-alcoholic beverage selections are great! The cashiers are always friednly! I moved to the neighborhood a few months ago and have been coming here every two weeks or so to get the bougie items you cant buy at trader joes/ the generic cheap stores. I honestly really liked it and continued to come back despite their high prices. However, today I bought chicken sausage for 6.99 and upon coming home I discovered that it had expired two months ago. YIKES! But oh well, I kept the receipt and walked back a few hours later to return it. I walked up to the cashier and asked her for a refund, showing the receipt and the expired sausage. She was a young Asian girl with blonde hair and was honestly very nice. She said that the policy was not to issue returns on items. I was very surprised. If you're carrying expired produce then how are you not going to issue a refund?? She offered to exchange for a different chicken sausage but most of them were expired too??? She then told me I can get something for the same value and I didn't want to argue with her any longer so I just got some overpriced ice cream and called it a day. This problem is purely due to poor management. I've cashiered at one of these high-end grocery stores before and know for a fact that you have the capability to issue a refund. It's just not in your "policy" to do so?? Bullshit! I understand it is hard to sell certain products but if you continue to sell expired food and continue to implement a policy where you don't issue refunds then you are going to lose business! I'm here 3 or 4 times a week. Nice mix of specialty items and normal. They have a nice produce section, they make good sandwiches, cheap kombucha on tap if you need clean organs, and some harder to find beers. I got $10 organic packaged beef from them. Got home and released they cut off the expectation date and the beef was leeking out because they broke the seal. I work a lot and now I don't have the main part of my dinner to eat. They will take it back but now I have to go there tomorrow night after a long day. I think that they never should of done that. Used to come here a lot but it became less frequent when better places opened up and their customer service and cleanliness went downhill. They have a huge deli/sandwich/juice bar that takes up a third of the store and yet it's next to impossible to flag someone down to make something. The counter comes up to my eye level and I'm 6'3", as if they don't want to make it easy for their workers to notice when a guest walks up. Not that they'd look up from their phone anyway unless you yell at them to notice you. That's enough to make this a 3-star review but the cleanliness here is just awful. The place smells terrible, the beer section is next to what I assume is their cold storage and the smell literally makes me gag. I always check the expiration date wherever I am before purchasing and I've noticed multiple expired items recently. What finally made me swear this place off forever - Ordered a chicken wrap and the sandwich guy actually rolled his eyes and made a show of having to make it - you'd think I'd ordered the most difficult thing on the menu when he had a line of 30 people, but there was nobody else in line and it took him 5 minutes. And then, good God, it tasted terrible but I was starving so I ate 1/4 of it, only to wake up in the middle of the night to yak for 2 hours. Never again. read more
