I've been coming here daily for the past few years for lunch, last week, my partner sat down while I was on line with both of our lunch, the male manager went up to my partner and said how she can't sit down without buying food, given that this has been our routine for a few years now, she said I was on line with our food & continued to be passive. Today, we were here with our friend, our friend bought the wrong flavor of ice cream and tried to return or swap for a different flavor. The same male manager refused a refund because the ice cream was "melted" since it was purchased 30 minutes ago. Our friend didn't know we had tried this flavor before and didn't like it and just wanted to swap it for mango. Here's the "melted" ice cream that we weren't allowed to return. The workers are always so kind and sweet, so is the female manager, but this guy is always hostile and aggressive to selective customers. This place is always busy and packed and many times I see people do the same thing where one person sits when another is on line with the food and seems to be an issue as of recent. I don't know the reason, but I've never had a problem doing this before in the past 2 almost 3 years. We purchase all of our food, sit quietly, clean up after ourselves, I don't see the issue with sitting while another purchases or why we couldn't return an unopened box of ice cream just to swap flavors. read more

I used to love coming here when we lived in the neighborhood and still try to come by here and there. This compact Japanese grocery store offers a wide variety of snacks, and a great prepared food section. After 8pm, almost all the prepared food items are 50% off which is a deal. I didn't intend to visit Japanese grocery store Ten Ichi but noticed it was mere steps from the establishment where I'd be spending more significant time. Given the proximity, I just had to take a peek! When you step inside, it doesn't seem very big but that's only until you realize there's an upstairs practically exploding with snacks, pantry staples, kitchen dishes and utensils, and personal care items. Downstairs is more grab-and-go focused with prepared meals and bottled beverages, along with a dining area. There were many employees bustling about, keeping the shelves stocked. The space was brightly lit and tidy. I was really impressed by this store and didn't depart without purchasing some munchies for later. Super cute Japanese store filled with bento boxes to go and other homewares to make your own bento boxes at home! This place seems narrow upon entering, but make sure you look up and down at all the stuff that is packed into this tight space. From fresh sushi to frozen gyoza, to adorable cat mugs to mascara that I remembered only seeing while in Japan back in 2019! Was really great to note that they do have some Japanese cosmetics if that's what you're looking for. There's limited seating if you're looking to dine in, so make sure you plan accordingly. I grabbed two onigiri to go - spicy shrimp and spicy kaarage only for this first visit. Pricing in at around $2.50-$3.50 for each one, the spicy shrimp was by far most superior. I will have to try their cooked buns or maybe even ramen the next rainy day we have. Parking around here is a NIGHTMARE! Walk, take an Uber, or take public transportation unless you wanna drive around for a half hour like I did. This place hired people of color which is nice, but every time I go me and my girlfriend are followed around the store. I was walking down an isle and turned my back to see an employee hiding at the end of the isle and peeping on us. Once I caught him he quickly turn moved out of site. This had been such a welcome addition to Williamsburg; part of me will miss it. Ten Ichi had been my go-to place 2 to 3 times a week for an expanding menu of Japanese prepared foods as well as snacks, beer, and household items from Japan. Not always cheap, but fair. [To order ramen, you have to order and pay at the downstairs register, then head back upstairs to hand it in at the kitchen, and stand in the aisles and wait. (Inefficient but worth it)]. But I will not be going back. Earlier this week I made a quick lunch break for the prepared teriyaki near the stairs (after picking up my daughter's prepared sushi to the left), and one of the over-stacked, unsealed round containers fell, and opened and plopped onto to the floor. I called over to the cashier so that no one would slip, and reflexively volunteered to clean up the teriyaki'ed floor. I was told store policy is to pay 50% of the "damaged" item. Huh? I wasn't going to argue or hold up the line, so I payed half price for the unsealed, negligently stacked salmon teriyaki that was swept off the floor. What an insane, short-sided policy penalizing formerly loyal customers. Unlike the salmon with regard to their source , (鮭), I'll NOT be returning. read more

They have all the produce essentials for a nutritious Japanese inspired meal, delicious hot food, sushi grade salmon, and options galore on everything. And all the patrons are quite kind, bright and good looking if I might say!! (Good place to scope out your next romance partner maybe?) I asked if I could eat the leaf in my dish and the front grocers had a nice sense of humor "no it's vintage plastic wrap," (the leaf is not edible it's meant to hold it all together) I thought that was cute. I shared conversation with other patrons sitting down to eat as well quite easily. Prices are reasonable and organic options are mixed in. Not much gluten free items labeled but it's there. To my delight, my friend let me know that this mart opened up in Williamsburg. Since we were nearby, we browsed around and I knew the perfect snack I wanted - onigiri!! I had been to the location in Boerum Hill area which is much smaller than this new location. I am impressed with the space and selection of all things delicious. I walked away with some delicious onigiri (pro tip: after 8pm sushi, onigiri are 50% off), some Meiji chocolates, and a few instant ramens. One of the latest Japanese mini market in the area as of 2021 summer. They just opened a few weeks ago. the store was sparkling clean and well stocked. when I went, the store was packed with people and they were all buying quite a lot but the stock was fine. great selections they gathered cosmetic/health goods some of them I haven't seen in nyc yet but in Japan. Midoriya is overall at least dollar or more cheaper for every product I would say, although midoriya is small store size and selection. their osozai small portion selection is great for taste and price. sushi and homemade bento etc I would skip but it seemed Williamsburg locals wouldn't care the price. but it's nice to have more Japanese stores! read more

Love this place. I stumbled upon it because I really wanted to go to Moge but they weren't open that early. I stopped in here to pick up a couple things. They have Hijiki, Lotus root, wakame, onigiri. I love Japanese food and treats. I got the pickled mustard onigiri and the rice to filling ratio was way off. Tooooo much rice. The pickled cucumber and radish and everything else I got was delicious. I love the ban Chan and all the options. They have all the sections of skincare, toys, stationary, etc etc. Great place for anything Japanese and cute. read more

This is an amazing and much needed grocer to Williamsburg! This place is more affordable than wholefoods and comparable to H mart in providing food essentials. The grocery has several prepared items such as onigiri that is between $2.24-3.50. A great selection of snacks and sodas as well. I visited the new Williamsburg location on opening day, and needless to say, I am tremendously happy that Williamsburg finally has a legitimate Asian grocery store. The sushi all looked incredible and the yellowtail and salmon avocado maki combo was "chef's kiss." Also, the prepared foods were very affordable, in comparison to the mediocre sushi sold at Whole Foods. The actual store is fairly large - two floors. First floor you have the prepared foods/sushi/bentos, beverages, and the cashiers; on the second floor, they have fresh produce, seafood and sushi grade fish, frozen Japanese products, a variety of natto brands, pantry items, Japanese snacks and candy, and they even have personal care products that you would typically find in a Japanese convenient store. The space is super clean and well organized. I'm especially excited for when their hot foods service opens! read more
