330 pm, Wednesday, August 20, 2025, It actually began with a phone call on Tuesday morning. I've read Electric Ave's Yelp reviews... impressive! Mike answers the phone and I ask about AC service for my Civic Hybrid. I knew what I needed, so I had to describe exactly my situation. I needed routine AC servicing. It was estimated $200. We agreed on 4pm but Mike requested to try and come in earlier than that. I obliged, left the Miracle Mile and got over to the Silver Lake shop in 30 minutes. Dang! But not surprised, the bays and staging area in front were full of cars! I've seen it frequently when driving past on Hyperion. One single space at the end and I squeezed in and parked. I walked over to the shop office. First thing I see was a huge Eddy Grant poster. Cool! " We're gonna walk down to #ELECTRIC AVENUE..." Mike is on the phone and a minute later we are going through the new customer intake. He hands me the clipboard, "Fill out the first four lines," as I'm doing this, I refresh his memory. I'm here for the AC service. He kindly asked if I needed an Uber home. I said no, I'm walking to nearby eateries to hang out and eat. I chose Tomato Pie BTW, highly recommend. I get called an hour later, Mike said the car is ready. The AC system is fine and filled up with refrigerant. It need about half pound. Good news, it was below the quoted estimate. We start the small talk while we close out the tab. Mike and I are LA Kings fans! Awesome, I love this. Haha. BTW, 3% CC add on fee. I believe there was no fee using a debit bank card. I wish there was a thorough print out of the diagnosis, service, and the courtesy inspection. He told me verbally that my tires, brakes, suspension (shocks and struts not leaking). Hmm, okaayyy. Another shop had told me that there was leakage and needed replacement. So, I asked to confirm that they were okay. Mike said yes but if I wanted a smoother ride, I should consider the replacement work. Up next, I'll ask Mike about the worn items that I know and discuss a schedule. Thanks Electric Avenue! Edit: the AC is super cold as it should be after having it serviced by Mike & the fine folks att Electric Ave. Trust your intuition, if your AC doesn't feel as cold as it used to and it's been 2-3 years since last service, it's time to service it again. It'll be much more expensive if one of those main AC components fail. read more

I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. Edgar and Mike were extremely friendly and transparent. Brought in my 2023 tesla model x to have the ac evaporator cleaned out. I knew it was somewhat of an involved procedure and I didnt want to take it to tesla services because everyone knows you'll be leaving your car there for days. I got 2 kids and places to be. I brought my car in at 9 am and told Edgar that I needed the car back before 2 pm to pickup my kid. Got the job done timely with no issues and they even performed a general inspection. Updating my review of five years ago to say I'm still receiving awesome service at Electric Ave. This morning, I dropped off my car in for an oil change. Mike gave me a call to let me know it would be a good idea to replace my spark plugs. I told him I was a teacher and that August is the dreaded month we don't get paid. He agreed we could hold off on the replacement until the next service. When I arrived to pick up the car, Mike had applied a "teacher's discount" that lowered the price of my oil change. We had a nice chat about his wife, who used to be a teacher. This is why I don't go anywhere besides Electric Ave-they are genuinely focused on great service, for the car and the customer! I can't say enough about how happy I am with the service at Electric Ave. After a few warning lights (ABS, Transmission) came on in my 2019 Chevy Bolt, I took it to a local dealership, thinking the repair had to be done there. Despite having an appointment, I was told they couldn't even diagnose the issue for a few days. Since the warning light had a "Drive with Care" note, I was concerned about waiting that long just to learn what was wrong. I drove directly to Electric Ave. with no appointment. Mike said they'd look at it that day, despite the many other cars I saw on the lot. He called me a short time later with a very clear explanation of what the issue was, and what the minor cost of the two parts needed to fix it would be. He gave me a precise quote including labor, explained what time the parts would be expected to arrive the following day, and said that the car would be safe to drive if I wanted to use it until the parts arrived. The next day I got a call when the parts were in, brought the car in, and the repair was completed that day. Mike called and said if I could leave it overnight, they'd like to wash it before I picked it up the next morning. My car never looked so good. I highly recommend Electric Ave. for their superb service and honesty. Not that I wish to have more repairs for my car in the future, but you can be sure when I do need them, Mike and his team will be the first place I stop. Thank you! read more

It's expensive, but Mike is only nice when he can sell you something. I love the hustle but this guy has zero respect for communicating with customers outside of his predetermined terms. He had my car and never told me if he'd need to keep it over night, I asked multiple times and he kept saying he'd let me know. Then the shop is closed and I have no clue if my car is in the shop safe or outside. I go in to check and mike glares at me when I'm trying to confirm my car is secure. Don't offer diagnostic then hold it over peoples heads. This place is for naive silverlake millennials who will throw money at an easy fix anywhere else. read more

I was recommended this shop by my usual mechanic when I was dealing with a bad brake actuator, which is a common problem on Prius cars. After being quoted $2.7k by Mike for the repair, I shopped around only to find that this was the cheapest for this repair in the area, and being $1000 cheaper than the dealer. I entrusted the job to Mike. I was offered a complementary Lyft ride to get home, and the afternoon after, back to Electric Avenue to receive my repaired car. In the end, the total repair time was less than a day, and even ended up significantly cheaper than the initial quote considering the repairs I required and the complementary services. In my brief experience here, I saw their professionalism, passion, and proficiency in repairing hybrid vehicles. Called this person In seek of help and this a$$ hole automatically quoted me 4k for a new Lexus hydrid battery!! Not even willing to hear me out, or even let me explain that the cells were all replaced with OEM FACTORY NEW CELLS!! I am still getting "check hybrid system" error code because of other issues but this hybrid guru wants to give me quotes on replacing entire hydrid system, electrical system and ECU, instead of doing the job of a mechanic and trouble shoot the issues. When my beloved Prius broke down in the middle of nowhere some miles outside Barstow, the nearest dealership wanted me to pony up $5k+ for the Prius. I had NEVER had a problem with my Prius and the expensive problem came at a terrible time (and not for nothing, with an $1,100 tow to get it to my regular mechanic in LA). When my regular mechanic couldn't fix it either, Mike and the team were great. They wasted no time assessing what was needed, offering me a great deal. Not for nothing, while they worked on diagnosing the trouble, Mike sent me home in a rideshare courtesy of the autoshop. THEN I started having tire issues. I had bought a couple new tires when the above-mentioned breakdown had happened and thought it was one of my new tires. It turned out the problem tire was actually one of the older ones, not the new (I'm a genius, I know). Never mind, said Mike and team. They found a nail, patched the tire, refused to let me pay (never mind the fact that they had nothing to do with the bum tire being... bum... they just helped me out anyway). These guys are knowledgeable about hybrids and electric where so few others genuinely are. They're fair, willing to work with the customer. And truly good guys who go way above and beyond. Today my car completely stopped working in the middle of the street. Every light on the dash going off including ones I didn't even know I had. Norse runes and stuff. This business is very unique and special, a gem within the community. We took our Hyundai Ioniq there because it kept showing a pressure loss in one of the tires. The 76 station up the street couldn't find a leak but charged us anyway. However, these guys at Electric Avenue (specifically Mike) not only found the leak and fixed it but they didn't even charge us because "we're neighbours in Silverlake." And if that wasn't kind enough, they also WASHED OUR CAR free of charge. We were blown away by their kindness and professionalism and would always recommend them very highly. read more

I remember driving by this shop a few times and the name caught my attention "Electric Avenue." I think its pretty cool! I called the shop and Harry helped me out and told me to come in for a free diagnostic. He was very helpful in explaining everything in regard to the codes my car had and what my options were. They fixed the car quickly the same day, and now the car runs like a champ! The whole staff is very friendly and professional. I am extremely grateful that my friend referred me to Mike and Electric Avenue. They specialize in hybrids and Mike is the nicest man. His prices are very fair and they even work Saturdays, which is really helpful because I can't get many places during the work week. I dropped my car off in the morning, and Mike paid for a Lyft to get me home. He pays for Lyfts for his customers. That's part of the service. Wow! I've never had that before. Mike called me throughout the day with updates, and they even washed my car and vacuumed the inside. They really went above and beyond. They take great care of my 2013 Chevy volt. Took to few other shops who couldn't diagnose my issue. These were my first Ev specialized shop and I won't be going anywhere else. A little pricey but they know what they're doing and you get what you pay for. Haven't had any issues on any of the stuff they have installed. Mike is great at managing the place and the mechanics do awesome work to back it all up. I've done spark plugs, ignition coils, transmission mount, and oil change with them. I was referred to Mike when another garage I was trying out couldn't take me for an oil change and I'm now here for life. I've had 3 oil changes and I think he's starting to recognize me amongst his customers. I now understand why the reviews are highly positive. Even though I'm fairly new, Mike has always been patient. I got an oil change and he wrote down a whole list of things I needed to get fixed. I forgot for a few months and so my partner called back to ask, and he spent time over the phone telling him about the list. Mind you, I've seen Mike in his office and he's always super busy - and he still took the time to explain nicely and was straightforward about the price. He even offered a rideshare to pick and drop us! There's so much value beyond the price and quality, especially attentiveness and kindness. I bought a used Prius with a dead hybrid battery for scrap money and had the battery replaced here in early 2020, three years ago at the time of writing. This was the only place to offer brand new OEM Toyota batteries, and they warranty them for two years - that's twice as long as a Toyota dealership would warranty them, and it was far less expensive. Mike was excellent throughout the process - thorough, honest, fair, and highly communicative. He knows everything about these cars and will tell you what to watch out for and what preventative maintenance is most important. I honestly didn't expect such excellent results, the car still runs like new three years later. I take my Prius here for everything now, the prices are right and the service is excellent. I recommend Electric Ave. to all my friends with hybrid/electric vehicles. read more

Mostly just dishonest when it's convenient. Which is annoying bc most people don't know better and have to trust their mechanic. I'm not stupid I know a lot about my hybrid car and like to fix stuff myself bc mechanics charge so much for things that cost them very little to repair. I was told that I could bring my car in for a diagnostic because there are strange fumes in the car making me sick and I thought it might be the hybrid battery producing then due to some failure. I spent hours getting my car towed to this place and waiting for them to look at it. I immediately knew after I brought it he had no intention of doing the diagnostic he promised bc he thought I was just crazy and imagining it and that I wouldn't be able to pay for any repair anyways. They never did the diagnostic and just told me to get my car detailed bc it was dirty and it was just mold like I'm stupid. I removed all of the trim in the entire car looking for something like mold. Its not mold. It was really rude that this guy doesn't care and would just waste all my time and money saying bring it in and they'll do a diagnostic and then don't even bother to stick a code reader in the car and run the codes. He admitted he didn't even do that. He had no clue if there was anything wrong with the battery because he dishonestly decided he couldn't make any money off me so just lie and say there's nothing wrong with it even though he said hed do a diagnostic to find out what was wrong with it and to bring it in. I don't have a lot of money but my parents would be paying for it so it's annoying that no one will even help me with this serious car problem that has been causing me all these problems literally bc of the problems it's causing. There are only 2 mechanics working here total and like 25 cars they're working on so they seem very understaffed and overburdened and I don't know how theyd possibly do a good job on anyone's car. he told me there weren't any leaks either when I know for a fact that my radiator is leaking. Dishonesty in a mechanic is the worst. Very inconsiderate now I'm stranded in front of this guys business for who knows how long until I can get a tow truck bc I used my only free roadside service tow to get it here and then the guy just tell me that's my problem and to figure it out which was rude considering I had it brought all the way to this place because this guy told me he could find the problem and fix it. dont get why he has such good reviews all the cars here are gen 3 Priuses which back then were somewhat more advanced but now a days seem more like a regular car than a electric vehicle and aren't exactly complicated to fix. Reviews are just a perfect storm of total yelp reviewer smugness and don't reflect anything actually special about the place.
