It was Labor Day weekend and I had a room booked in Flagstaff. Before leaving the valley we were heading to Fry's to stock up on various food items when my car starting overheating and steam began to pour out of the hood. We pulled into a parking lot and I called AAA for a tow. They suggested I tow it to this company because they partner with AAA. I recently moved from East Valley to Phoenix so I decided to go with their recommendation because it was close, I was tired, and hoped it would be fixed the next day. So I got my car towed there and dropped my key in the after-hours drop box, then discover later that they are closed on weekends. "NOOOOOOO!!" I cried, because I was hopeful that it was something minor and I could still head up to Flagstaff after the car being fixed. So it is Friday night and my car would have to be left outside the shop until Tuesday when they open again. So my vacation plans were a bust. I also freaked out and thought, what if my car gets broken into or vandalized? The next night we stopped by to check on the car and they had kindly pulled it into the shop, so I was at least very relieved and grateful that it was safely locked up. When I called them on Tuesday, I was told that they wanted to replace 7 of my heater hoses and my thermostat for $889.62! I almost feinted after hearing the price because I had never been quoted that high of a price before for car work. They also said the thermostat may or may not be bad and the price I was told was just the starting point. I couldn't afford this, and didn't want to pay this price even if I could afford it, so I called AAA back and had them tow my car again to my old mechanic I used to use in Mesa. Honn Auto Repair. He said only two hoses needed to replaced and only charged me $163. So I saved $726.62 in repairs and it's running just fine a month later after finally taking a trip up North. The staff here is very friendly and they kept my car safe and I really appreciate them for that, I just couldn't believe how much they were trying to charge me for work on my car. I should have and will in the future stick to the mechanic I had been going to for years even if it is in another town. read more

I took my 2017 Mazda CX-5 to Hi-tech car care for an oil change and inspection. As they were super busy at the time, they gave me a ride to meet a client and even provided a ride back as well. The work was well done, finished when promised and the inspection was really comprehensive and as a nice addition, they followed up just to check if there were any issues or if I had any suggesting to improve their service. Excellent customer service! Monday I bought the livingsocial deal for three oil changes, good until 2015, and made my appointment for Tuesday at 1PM. Jim greeted me with a smile as I entered and made me feel welcomed. Long story short, like Andy G (see his review on 1/14/12), I have found my new car mechanic. They ran a diagnostic test, told me what was wrong, and didn't pressure me into making immediate fixes like other auto repair shops would. So, I make an appointment to look at my Audi A5, because it was leaking power steering fluid. I bring it in, they tell me I need a new power steering rack and most likely a power steering pump as well. Estimate, $2400.00. On the drive home, the underside protective panels break away and drag on the road because they weren't put back correctly after the inspection. So, a couple days later, I bring the car to another shop for a second opinion. Turns out it needed a new hose....cost $200. Huh, pretty much tells me one of two things. They either are screwing people by replacing things that don't need replacing, OR, they just have no idea what they are doing. Either way, you get one shot to get business, and this place dropped the ball big time. NEVER would go there for anything. read more

Took my vehicle in for an inspection and oil change and this is what happened... 1. Hi-Tech Car Care altered my vehicle without my knowledge or consent 2. Hi-Tech Car Care didn't tell me about the damage they did when the vehicle was picked-up 3. Hi-Tech Car Care tried to cover-up the damage they did by making even more damage to my vehicle 4. Hi-Tech Car Care refuses to cover the costs of repairs to my vehicle by an outside body shop (and wonder why I do not trust them to do a good job, see below) 5. Mr. Garnand sent me an email stating that he will record over the video footage/evidence 6. Mr. Garnand sent me an email that I perceived as a subtle threat by stating if I didn't like his response, I could contact his atty and included his atty's contact info 7. Also, they charged me for an inspection that showed my vehicle needed over $3000.00 worth of work but neglected to tell me that the alternator that is currently in my car is a junk yard part! Isn't THAT worth noting in the inspection?? Mr. Garnand stated that he would send me a copy of video footage on a USB drive but didn't see anything on the video. I agreed to that. I also informed Mr. Garnand that my husband is in IT and will open the files of footage to ensure the footage wasn't tampered with. Mr. Garnand then said if I wanted to view the 10 hours or so of footage, I would have to come and sit in his shop to view it. He would no longer send me the USB drive. I took the vehicle to an experienced repair shop that inspected the vehicle and the shop told us what happened, CSI style. The explanation from this shop revealed how a large and heavy item fell on the hood of my car and in what direction it landed, causing numerous dents, creases, scratches and gauges. The person then showed us how the garage did PDR, Paintless Dent Repair, actually DRILLING into the hood of my car in several places in order to try to cover-up what they did. The PDR was done, according to the experienced shop, and executed poorly as the creases remained, but now not only with creases and gauges, but with several dimples and black plugs where the drilling occurred! My husband went to the shop and spoke with Mr. Garnand showing him proof of the damage that his garage did to my vehicle. I heard and saw Mr. Garnand state to my husband that what my husband was stating was TRUE but he was not going to pay for the damage and then proceeded to walk away! Mr. Garnand's demeanor while my husband spoke to him was avoiding direct eye contact and excessive talking. He was nervous. Mr. Garnand then proceeded to tell my husband that his shop was short-staffed and he had to pull one of his office workers (!) to do car repairs. Hmmmm. Mr. Garnand is refusing to cover the costs of the repairs needed to my vehicle because I want to take my vehicle to the shop of MY choosing. Mr. Garnand's shop has lost all my trust and confidence. Hi-Tech Car Care altered my vehicle without my knowledge or consent. They did NOT inform me of what took place regarding the damage done to my vehicle (by them) when I picked it up. They tried to cover-up the damage by executing a poor PDR job and refusing to send me a copy of the garage footage when I stated that my husband will open the file to ensure it hadn't been tampered with. Since this happened, I looked at their reviews on Yelp.com. There are numerous reviews on Yelp.com with customers stating how Hi-Tech Car Care told them they needed parts that weren't actually needed, over-charging for services and many negative comments describing how Mr. Garnand treated them. This vehicle was in my possession for only 1 week with dealer plates. No one had touched the vehicle, not even a car wash. You ever walk into a room where a child is and see something was broken? You know the child broke it because they were the only person there, but you ask the child anyway if they broke the item and they look at you and say no. Yeah, it's like that. Hold on let me get my Nike's on first..... After doing my research for a shop that could look at my 2004 Isuzu this was the place I landed at. At first glance this shop is clean and friendly. The yelp reviews here are decent, however pay attention to the bad ones. 1st I was quoted over $3,200.00 to fully repair my car which was not what I was initially there for and my car wasn't even worth that. When I stated that to Justin he agreed with me (if you know that then why are you quoting me a full repair?) and pointed out that my main problem was the fuel pump. I agreed to the repair. Every day after that I had to call them to check on the status update of my car over and over again. I understood they were having a hard time finding the part but a simple update on when I would get my car or if they were even working on it would have been courteous. The repair took over a week. I was very patient and did not complain as I just wanted my car fixed. On the final day of my pickup I was told (after I called) at 8AM they were doing a final check. Did I get a call for a final update.....nope so once again at 4:30pm I called to get an update. I was told they were too busy and they would call me back. When I showed up to the dealer Justin apologized for not calling me back. I accepted the apology and explained I just wanted to pay my bill. The cherry on top was when the OWNER went to park my car he handed me the keys and proceeded to say "my car is on NIKE." When I inquired what it meant he explained that my car was almost out of gas and when I came back to get it I better wear my Nike's as I may have to push my car to the gas station. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What repair shop treats paying customers this way? I had given $1,000 of my hard earned money to a business who did not return phone calls, kept my car for over a week without updates on it's return and now the owner of this place was telling me upon on my return I might literally have to push my car from the dealership to a gas station? Not funny and not good service. As of yesterday my check engine light turned back on. I will not be taking it back no matter what. Me and my Nike's will go to a better shop with better service and someone who values my business. read more

I purchased my jeep commander which was serviced here and had over 4000 dollars invested into a wiring issue where they conned the previous owner into repairing it instead of replacing it. They had the car for a month and a half instead simply replacing a wiring harness for a third of the cost. As the new owner and aware of the issues that it had in regards neededing a new MDS harness i took it to my mechanic who opened the manifold and saw the work they rigged. He refused to work on it because nothing was by the book. So i took plenty of photos of their work and went to Hi tech car care to ask them about what they did. They refused to give me any details about my vehicle because i was not the previous owner. I showed them pictures of their work,my title to prove its mine, i even got the previous owner on the phone with them to get my vehicle service records to i could expose their work. Once they looked and saw they vehicles history thi gs got exremely shady.They denied Brad (previous owner) his service records still and insisted the only way he can get them is to be there physically and take them. Brad lives in Montana and still they denied him his records. Hi tech car care rigged my jeep commanders engine harness to ensure only they could work on it. Took my son's 2007 Scion TC to diagnose and potentially repair a vibration at idle. Engine mounts were a suspect. Hi Tech reported that they found it needed engine and transmission mounts and quoted $1900 for both. Because of the age of the car, it may not make sense to have the work done, and I want a second opinion and other quotes. I picked the car up - they charged $44 for the diagnose, but no charge for the "complementary inspection" on the invoice. Hmmm.Of course, the invoice did not mention any findings at all - nothing about fluids or their diagnosis. No one spoke to me about it, either. I subsequently received a second quote for $823 for the same work - and it includes a brake fluid flush. Perhaps Hi Tech quoted OEM mounts and the alternative quote is aftermarket. It's a 2007, though, and Hi Tech did not describe their findings or provide a written estimate. Very disappointed. Be aware. You can do better. UPDATE - the owner reached out and indicated that the service did not meet his expectations. He refunded my diagnosis charge. This is good business and I have adjusted my rating accordingly to three stars. read more

Their team did not address the problems that I brought my vehicle in to repair. Their report stated that there were no codes stored in the system, 7 are present. Within a half-mile of leaving the shop my check engine light, awd warning light, and tpms monitor light all came on. Despite $2,300 in service being rendered, most problems were not fixed, despite their report giving my vehicle a clean bill of health, minus a chip in the windshield and a missing interior trim piece. The tech blasted loud music on the test drive, I had a camera in the car, which prevented him from hearing the rubbing noise in turns and squeaky brakes. One tire was severely over inflated, two under inflated, these errors alone put me in a dangerous situation as my vehicle was not road worthy. There are more concerns present after having work done at this shop than there were when I brought it in. Gary, the service adviser, wants me to bring the car back in since the repairs are under some sort of warranty. I do not feel comfortable having this team touch my vehicle ever again. We brought our car into Hi-tech car care based on the previous positive reviews here on yelp. I am extremely disappointed in the "value" we experienced today. Labor for the lube oil and filter was $24.95. The parts were $13.59. That looks good, right? They called and asked about changing the air filter, the cabin air filter, and the wiper blades, to which, Janet replied to replace the air filters and that's it. Now, I agree, the cabin air filter was a bad idea, but the thought of the previously viewed reviews, I didn't think it would be too bad. The air filter in the engine compartment was $23.10, and they did not charge for labor. Was that generous? Answer that after I explain the cost of the cabin air filter replacement. The part, $25.58: the cost of labor $39.59. I expressed my concern after viewing the bill. This part is paper folded accordion style and isn't even framed by plastic. I'll eat that cost. We agreed to it. But the labor? The owner, who identified himself as the owner, said cars that are 6 years or older the plastic can be extremely brittle and that the cost was also covering his liability, because if they break a piece, I would expect them to replace it...right? He added that the cost would have been disclosed had we asked while on the phone with him. Being in law enforcement, I know a few things about the removal of cabin air filters, as they are usually a good spot for concealing contraband. I walked out to the car, opened the glove box, moved two very pliable clips and slipped the paper filter out, in less than one minute. I put it back together and returned to the shop, where Justin explained and showed me on the computer the standard charges for labor dealing with this part. This establishment had several senior citizens come and go while we waited to pay the outrageous final cost of an oil change. If your mother, grandmother, wife or daughter go to this establishment for vehicle service MAKE SURE THEY GET A QUOTE OR THEY WILL BE RIPPED OFF. as we were first time customers, I guess we shouldn't assume they want repeat business. This was so shady, we will not return. 17 March, 2017 I received Jim's reply, and was inspired to do some research myself. While repairpal estimated a price slightly higher than your shops repairs charged, I located another vehicle repair estimator search engine, Napaautocare.com, which estimated the price range between $66 and $81 (parts $37-$43, labor $29-$38). So, yes Jim, you saved us $11 and some change on the part. My biggest gripe is the cost of labor. If I made $39.59 for three minutes of work.... Just for argument sake, lets say for 10 minutes of labor. You have to retrieve the part, open the box and situate yourself to open the glove box, aftersll. that means I am making $237.54 an hour. If I work a full 8 hour day, I make $1900.32 a day. At 40 hours a week, I make $9,501.60. If I work 52 weeks a year at that rate, I make $494,083.20. Now, I know $39.59 is a but a fraction of the hourly labor cost for automotive repair, as the average cost to the consumer is between $80 and $100 an hour. My question is, did a certified mechanic do this surgical like installation or did one of their assistants? A mechanic who makes under $17.00 an hour? This is killing me! Jim, I know this isn't tour fault. It is the industry, AND society. Why society? Because you, just like everyone else, is blaming someone else for their extremely high and disproportionate rates. You failed to charge based on the work done, you charged the rate because "everyone else is doing it. The days of paying a fair price for work rendered are long gone. And that is sad. I am a dissatisfied customer, and obviously in the wrong business. read more

Up until now, I had never found a shop in Phoenix I felt I could trust, but at long last I have! I have to say that my experience with Hi-Tech Car Care was unbelievably great. Not only are they exceptionally professional, courteous, and prompt, but they also go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction, even going so far as to immediately arrange a rental vehicle when the repairs took slightly longer than anticipated. I noticed some other reviewers mentioning their prices, so I thought I'd chime in on that too. While it's true that their prices are slightly higher than 'discount' garages, all the prices seemed fair to me and were explained clearly (very important - I'm kind of dumb when it comes to cars). Having been burned in the past by shoddy workmanship and low-quality parts from 'discount' mechanics, I prefer the peace of mind that comes from paying a fair price for quality, professional work. My wife and I brought our 2001 Jeep Liberty into their location to get an estimate on: - A broken brake cap. - Brake fluid flush. - A/C not working. We left it with them and came back with an estimate of 2,552.00. The break down was: - Brake Fluid Flush (175.15). - A/C Compressor (1,144.36). - A/C Conditioning service (193.03). They also said we needed our strut assembly replaced (both sides) (729.62). They also said we needed alignment (99.95). This estimate seemed way too high so we took our jeep to the Bill Luke dealership on camelback road and they took a look. They advised me that: - The A/C compressor was fine, it just needed a charge. - The struts were also fine. They charged our A/C compressor, fixed the brake cap, and swapped the fluid out for 425.00 . ___ Someone is being dishonest with us here and we don't believe it's the dealership as they could have gotten more money from us. I see other reviews here where people have had this same problem with HITECH so it looks like this isn't the first time they have done this. It was just a shame, the staff seemed very friendly and accommodating and we would have liked to do business with them but it's clear that someone whether it be the managers or the mechanics were trying to rip us off. I attempted to send all of this info to them via their site but their captcha verification section is malfunctioning and won't allow me to submit it. Who has captcha verification for a simple comment?! Terrible site design. Bogus estimate. The service was outstanding, the guy who helped me didn't try to over sell me on a bunch of crap I don't need, and he got me in without an appointment because it wasn't too busy on a Thursday afternoon.
