Walking in, friendly service. They greet you, the menu options aren't bad. Foods delicious and it's very cute and peaceful, as I went in the afternoon on a weekday. They have a dog friendly patio and tons of drinks. There's also a back dining area. I believe I met a bartender, her name was Zoey. She was very kind. Along with the kitchen staff who seemed to enjoy chatting it up when they can. I had a few kouign amann and sat there, no trouble just hanging out. Ordered a sandwich and called it a day. No fuss. No hovering, just friendly workers who wanna talk story and get to know their customers !

Loved the menu options! My Mediterranean salad was huge and delicious. Order are placed at the bar. Basically you serve yourself. Not sure why I tipped the bartender a full 20%... we had to bus our table as well. But the food is good. Very nice atmosphere.

What an experience. My partner and I walk in and the vibes seemed cool. We look at the menu and lowkey feel rushed from the bartender? It wasn't even busy so it felt weird. I think we spent like $60 there and we fully regret it. I asked a question and the bartender made me feel stupid for asking for clarification on one of the food items (food restriction related question). The nachos were dry and the sandwich was mid. I won't be going back there but i'm sure a lot of people like it and have had good experiences.

Exactly the thing I wanted when I was in Portland a little while back--a neighborhood restaurant/bar with chill vibes and great food. It's not the kind of place you would really know about, but I fired up the app here and it did not disappoint. Parking was a little rough (this is deep neighborhood, but on the main drag) so I ended up a few blocks away. I ordered inside with the bartender, then snagged a spot on the patio. I'm a sucker for both a patio and a Cubano and both of them were delightful, if not unexpected. The week's work had me worn out so I retired early. It's pretty convenient to order and pay first, so I just got to skedaddle and relish in a good Cubano and a nice end to a PDX trip.

Hi-Top Tavern is the place to be as a Beaumont-Wilshire Millennial on a Friday night. I'm a Gen-X'er myself, so I don't have the finances to make a night out at a cocktail bar a carefree experience, but that's not a fair metric to grade an establishment on so a 5-star it is! The drinks were PERFECT, the patio had an amazing vibe to it, and the Bartender was surprisingly speedy given he had a full bar and was virtually alone. Portland is famous for its small watering holes that cater to a local clientele, and Hi-Top Tavern may be the best example of that "Downtown-taste-but-small-neighborhood" feel. Will definitely return on my next trip to Portland.

Thank you for being a neighborhood icon with the most excellent food and drink. Don't miss the chance to hang out in their lovely outdoor space or bar.

Wow, driving by, you might never notice the awesome bar that is Hi-Top Tavern. Toward the upper end of NE Fremont, its storefront is unassuming but through that front door is a colorful, stocked, friendly, neighborhood spot. Full bar with signature cocktails, classier bar food with vegetarian options, and tons of outdoor seating both out front and an an L-shaped back yard. (They're welcoming vaccinated people to sit inside, and asking anyone in-vaccinated to use their outdoor seating.) I personally loved the colorful murals adorning both interior and exterior walls! Gotta come back for some selfies next time.

Came in to escape the rain and learned this is one of the few bars open past midnight. We were able to get drinks quite fast. Since it was Cinco de Mayo, Margaritas were a must. The servers were very friendly and the prices were fair. Very surprised by how big the place was compared to what you see from the outside. We settled in to on the back heated patio and watched the last quarter of the basketball game. Best surprise of the night was a curious raccoon that came to visit us several times, I named Ricky.

A great local watering hole that has a good outdoor seating that is also welcoming to (well behaved) dogs What We Had (most recent visit) - Fried egg sandwich - pork sliders - RC x2 Pro - Breakfast sandwich for dinner? Yes, please! - Pork sliders were messy but well prepared - Bartenders are friendly and very helpful in food selection Cons: - can get quite crowded at times (it's a bar!) so need to get there early to beat the rush Overall: Will visit again. Food and service have been mostly consistent with minor hiccups.

Entering the shop, you will be greeted by loud music. Be ready for that. You will have the option to dine outside, if the weather provides it and the seats are empty. The hosts are wonderful and very accepting with a positive attitude. Smiles and all. I ordered the Jim because it was the only sandwich I could eat. The majority of the sandwiches contain meat, so I would not recommend this for vegans or pescatarians. Jim was delicious and I consumed both halves of Jim flawlessly. Either hunger overruled me, or the sandwich was that satisfying. I do recommend the shop, but with limited options for non-meat eaters, I truthfully would rate Lottie and Zulas, 4.5. Yet, I don't believe the spot was "good."

We also had the Vinny which was fine, a bit spicier than I thought it would be, but I'm a wimp. The service was fine, not overly friendly but adequate. The food is 4 stars, the service 3 starts, but the real bummer was all the plastic. Plastic container, plastic cups and we were eating in. They asked if it was to go and we said no, but everything came in plastic anyway. The ambiance is quintessential Portland, right up until they bring all your food in plastic with plastic silverware to boot.

Since it was late, I was excited to…read moresee they offer a 1/2 sandwich and side of potato salad special because I really wanted to try the potato salad (I have yet to meet a potato I don't like), but didn't think I had it in me to have a whole sandwich plus potato salad without ruining dinner. The service was friendly and our order came out quickly considering we hit a mini-rush. The inside of the restaurant is cozy, clean, and comfortable. There are a few booths and a couple of tables inside as well as a few picnic tables outside. My daughter and I both got the No. 1 1/2 sandwich with potato salad special. The house smoked five-spice pulled pork was AHHHmazing. The pork was deeply flavorful, the sesame slaw was crunchy and added balance, and the chili-garlic BBQ sauce was the perfect way to bring it all together, flavorful without being overpowering. The thing about sandwiches is, you can have the best filling in the world, but it all hangs on the bread. I'm happy to say that their bread was incredible, delicately chewy, nice loft, but not too much bread. The German potato salad was piquant and flavorful, just what I hoped. For a side, they gave a generous portion. I was fairly stuffed, but managed a couple more bites in honor of Dolly. Now is the time when I tell you I'm not even a sandwich fan. Yes, I eat them, but I don't crave them. I can't wait to return and bring my lobster because he LOVES a sandwich. So many of the sandwiches look delicious, but now the test will be, do I keep ordering my beloved No. 1 (which I find myself craving now), or branch out?

I was excited when this location opened as it's closer to my house, but will definitely only be going to the SE location from now on to avoid the horrible service we've experienced here. DON'T go to this location, unless you want to go hungry lol
