    Hi-Wire Brewing, Wilmington
    Bruce K.

A pleasant evening was spent here after the bars and breweries in Wilmington downtown proper were packed. There was zero parking in downtown and I'm glad about that - this was pretty awesome. A definite family-friendly vibe here with some kids running about and others playing cornhole. At least a half-dozen dogs on leashes too. I left my wife seated outside while I popped in for beers. Hi-Wire Lager for me and a non-alcoholic ginger beer for my wife. Delicious and tasty and a fun spot to people watch because there are so many! Tip: Get the pizza first. It's made to order and takes 20+ minutes! [Review 1826 of 2024 - 3726 in North Carolina - 22848 overall]

Outstanding selection of flavors. Well air conditioned. Ping pong! Three cocktails on tap (I loved the bourbon ginger lemonade). Great animal graffiti art. Awesome place to hang. The bartender was friendly and so helpful. They gave us the Wilmington Ale Trail guide when I mentioned going on a brewery crawl.

This location brings Asheville to Wilmington, but without the crowd! Easy to find, they have their own parking lot, are dog friendly inside and outside. Inside is very spacious with lots of space to sit, their menu is diverse, and I've never seen a brewery that offers liters year round! Very laid back atmosphere, which I always appreciate, and super friendly beertenders. Highly recommend!

Hi-Wire is my absolute favorite Wilmington brewery. It's got the vibes, the good beer, an outdoor seating area, a food truck nearly everyday, friendly staff, dog-friendly, kid-friendly, games to offer- what more could you need?! Seriously, if the above didn't make you want to visit already- then I guess keep reading on for more detail. Hi-Wire is such a great place to visit when the weather is nice, or not so nice- they offer a large amount of seating both indoors & outdoors with a great vibe in either setting. When you come here you can normally come hungry because there is usually a food truck parked out front every day. You can check their instagram for the schedule of which will be there. We've had WilmyWoodie while sitting outside which offered pizza, it was really tasty! When you do go inside to grab yourself a beverage they've got a TON of beers on tap, always. There's something for everyone sometimes even ciders or seltzers. Their main brewery is actually in Asheville so they've got a ton of quality brewed beers and they know how to do it right. My favorite is the low pitch hazy which I believe is one of their flagships- it's just an all around smooth tasting beer with hoppy taste and hazy finish. There's soccer pool to play? I'm not sure if that's what they call it there but it's essentially a large pool table but with soccer balls! It's a cool concept and I've never seen it done anywhere before. They also have ping pong tables. And then for all the basic people like me, they've got a great neon light to take pictures in front of, honestly most important die that insta feed. Come visit Hi-Wire, they're turning 1 soon & hosting a coffee fest soon- OH they also host drag brunches which I LOVE, thanks Hi-Wire for just being so darn cool.

It's a very nice beer taproom that is in walking distance from my house. I have been to some nice ones in Winston-Salem and Charlotte and I think this place rivals the ones in the larger NC cities. This is not a place you will find on the main drag. It is located in what I can best describe as an industrial area, right at the edge of the North Side residential area. It is a block and a half off Market street, so not hard to find. Hi-Wire is an Asheville brewery. Great selection of beers to choice from. If someone in your party prefers wine then they have a small selection by the glass. Large inside area with games (ping pong and more). Outdoor seating as well. They take cards but don't take Apple Pay. Private parking lot and bike racks. Food trucks during peak times

This is my first time at this new brewery, I haven't been to the other locations. It's huge, a warehouse. They have their own parking lot. Inside, there are colorful art painted on the walls. There are also games: soccer pool (indoors), three ping pong tables (indoors), two foosball tables (indoors), and two pairs of cornhole (outdoors). There is ton of seating indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating was in front of the brewery and in the back with the cornholes. There were no heaters outdoors and currently there is no plan to get heaters unless a lot of people ask for them. They sell beer to-go If you don't want to stick around. You can make reservations on OpenTable. I came without reservations and luckily they had an indoor table of two available. reservations on OpenTable are for indoor seating. But you can still choose to sit outdoors if you like. Dog-friendly! Staff were wearing masks and they have a large clear plastic shield at the counter when ordering. Tables indoors and outdoors are spaced adequately from each other. Sanitizer bottles were at the counter and at the entrance. There was no food truck available during my visit. Hopefully they will book food trucks in the future. You're welcome to bring outside food. They make their own beers and had a good variety, 20 beers available with 4.0-8.5% alcohol. Their beer menu will change periodically. They also had bull city cider, red wine, white wine, and prosecco, which they do not make. Unfortunately, they did not get the shipment of those so they were not available during my visit. I tried number 11, tangerine peach passion fruit sour smoothie beer. It was good. I recommend getting this if you like sour beers. They offered 4 oz to 8 oz, $5-$8. This would be a good hang out spot for friends and for people watching. But if you're coming in a large group, best to make reservations ahead of time.

Hi-Wire is based out of Asheville and is expanding like crazy. I really like this newer location, it's spacious and has really cool art work on the walls. There is seating available inside and outside. You can also play shuffleboard, foosball, ping pong and soccer pool. My go-to beer is the High-Pitch Mosaic IPA but I switched it up and tried the West Coast IPA and my husband had the Bed of Nails. Both beers were really good. I finally got to play soccer pool, it has been impossible to play the times we have visited their Durham location and it was so much fun. Before you leave check out the merchandise and beer to take home. Cheers!

I have never and I mean never been a beer drinker. My husband has been trying to get me to drink beer now for 14 years. I find most beers to be too hoppy and hate the taste. But Hi-Wire made a change in my life. They have brewed a beer that I enjoy drinking. This Pink Lemonade goodness may not be for everyone but it has made a believer in me. So if you have friends that don't like beer, please have them try this wonderful creation. I can now say I like this beer buzz. LOL.

I was reading over a few reviews, and I realized that I scored them only a four, yet I find myself back there ALL. THE. TIME. I've only checked in 4 times, but it's way more visits than that! This is one of my three favorite breweries in the area so it so deserves 5 stars! It's so fun here!

Hats off to Hi Wire today , their Anniversary. We arrived around 1:30 , and it was jamming already . It was brisk , cloudy and a touch windy . There were vendors and a food truck when we arrived. The food truck was, Grimmburger, and it was great . Masks were still being worn by the staff at Hi Wire, COVID still present. You were greeted by staff member that checked id's , placed a wrist bracelet on then you could purchase tokens for the beers poured inside. There was a band inside playing great listening music. Plenty of staff at the taps , ready to pour for you. The self serve refrigerator was fully stocked . I found two more favorite beers on tap . It was a fun event at one of my favorite breweries.

Great brewery/beer hall! Very LGBTQIA friendly and right next to a REALLY good pizza spot. They have events throughout the week and ping pong tables inside! Nice and spacious, their beer garden also includes cornhole boards and picnic style tables with shade. The parking is moderate but plenty of street parking as well. I had their Dunkel which is the closest to a Red Ale and their Lager. Both delicious and refreshing after a long day at work.

Inside seating - plentiful and spaced

Add in some tv's throughout with sports on, and some foosball and shuffle board, and you have a super fun spot to hang out. Two staff members, juggling orders with grace, kept the taps moving and the vibe relaxed. We had the Oatmeal Porter (dark, smooth, layered with chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel) And the Brook's Mulberry Lemonade (a blend of house-made lemonade and beer, fermented with mulberries hand-picked from Brook's garden). Both were super delicious. Flytrap Brewing sits tucked in a quiet Wilmington neighborhood, and it feels like it belongs there.
