I rated this hospital with one star because there was no other option. It shoul be a 0. There was no doctor available to see him. No even the nurse or the hospital administrator to which i talked to coldnt tell me when was the dr going to come and see me. I was trying to find a supervisor or manager but i was told they were all in a meeting. What a coincidence. The hospital was all runing by itself with only nurses and some of the cleaning personnel. Nurses didnt even talk to you and when i approached them and asked them something they told me that i have to ask the nurse that was attending me that they didnt know anything. Well anyways. This hospital run down conditions were appalling. My dad suffered a transient Ischemic attack in the early am and was taken to the hospital because he could not move left arm or left leg. My mom callled to tell me that they got there at around 7am. At 1pm he was still in the ER no room yet. My mom said he was fine so I wouldn't worry. When I got there They had set him up with an IV catheter but no IV or meds. Mind you my dad is diabetic. At 6 pm I ask him have you had dinner he said they been asking for food all day and the nurses keep saying oh yes it's been ordered, but it is now 9pm and no food came. Mind you he has been in ER since 7am and now it's almost 9pm. Room is run down smells like urine, he is diabetic and hasn't eaten all day, no IV, and no food. To make matters the nurse finally shows up with two small cold sandwiches and I here the elder man on the other bed ask for his food that he hasn't eaten in two days. And she told him, you haven't let me check and never returned. I was there from 6pm to 10pm and no one came for that poor man. I gave him the two cold sandwiches the nurse had brought over for my dad since I had bought my mom and dad some food. Most of the nurses are very nice, but the conditions force them to avoid questions about food, availability of meds and IV fluids. I'm going back tomorrow to speak to a doctor and possible transfer him out if Dr. Says it's ok to move him. So disappointed and distraught. read more

This was the worst experience we've had dealing with my elderly in-law who recently took ill with a seizure at Miami International and was ambulanced to this facility. She stayed there over two days and still had not seen a doctor. Apart from that, there was an attempt to steal her personal effects including her passport, money and green card, which mysteriously left her purse, and reappeared at the threat of legal action against the facility. I would not recommend this facility to anyone and I think that Miami International Airport needs to reconsider where patients are sent if there is a passenger medical emergency. We had to insist that she be discharged so that she could continue her journey to Washington DC to see her physician. It was deplorable!! Her arm is in pain from a tube and her nurse was unresponsive to the issue. This is the worst hospital experience she ever had read more

On February 22, 2018 i went to the ER at Hialeah hospital due to a scratch in my eye from my dog. I couldn't see and it was very painful. Thankfully there was no wait in the waiting room. When I went inside there was an emergency coming in with fire rescue at the same time but they still gave me a bed and took care of me. The lady dr. gave me eye drops for the pain and also a tetanus shot. Turns out I had a cut in my cornea. I am in Shock!!! This Hospital has deteriorated so much through the years!! With all the money this Hospital makes they really do need a complete MAKEOVER!!! The customer service at the outpatient facility is atrocious. In addition, the nurses/assistants either do not enjoy their job or are not happy in their work environment. The employees seem so upset. I accompanied my father for an outpatient procedure, and I was not allowed to be with him in the pre-op room while he waited ALONE for 3 hours AFTER his anticipated procedure time. I have never been to a facility where a family member is not allowed to be with the patient while they wait to be attended. Naturally, folks are anxious/nervous before surgery and this facility fails to recognize the needs of their patients to be with a loved one while they wait. And when you ask if you can wait with them, the answer is "nope, only patients are allowed. You have to wait in the waiting room". Really? When they have been waiting for 3 hours? Absolutely no humanitarian approach. The family member is not even allowed in recovery. They call you when the patient has already finished each stage of recovery. Simply terrible. My experiment was not an obsolete case. Everyone in the entire waiting room, about 20 people waiting, were not allowed to be with their loved one. read more

I have to agree with the previous review. My mother who is an Alzheimer's patient was recently taken to Hialeah hospital and I would not recommend it. Unfortunately a lot of the nurses they have, have no business being nurses or taking care of other people. That hospital is dirty, out-dated, and needs a better staff. Wow! I couldn't express my immense amount of gratitude towards hialeah hospital & all its staff. I am super happy with my stay this past Friday September 29th, onward. I delivered my baby boy via csection & they have the best anesthesia blessed hands on ironically the birthday boy of that same Friday; named Jesus. A huge thank you to you all in the OR. To Jesus, Jordan, Janet & Miranda from the 5th floor. You guys made my delivery such an ease. From the moment i entered I was with family, from the laughters of our jokes to the tears when I laid eyes on my son. I thank you all for your so kind and loving personalities. I FELT SAFE! & id also like to thank Dr.Dominguez-Bali my Obgyn , Dr.Prenabal my sons pediatrician and balis sugical assistant. To a kind woman who's name I can't recall but cared for my son so kindly In the NICU & deliverd him to me. Thanks to my sons night shift nurse who ironically took care of my daughter two years ago when I delivered her. Your such a dedicated and beautiful person, very easy to talk to and listener ; your smile lit up the room every time you walked in. I appreciate everything you did for us. My room nurse Germaine who saved my life when I thought I'd colapse and faint on the bathroom floor, you saved me with your attentiveness and readiness . You laid down the law when you had to , i was in a rush to recover and had no sleep in my system . Keeping my meds up to date & You honestly made me snap back into it with those juices and forced me to sleep no matter what guest I had lol. I'm indebted to you. Thank you to my lovely discharge nurse Mia & Dr.Echevaria. A huge token of gratitude to Tony from the cafeteria; who was always so pending to any request I had and assured my husband had a meal; when visiting. Worst hospital ever!!!! That star is not what i would give them but none. I've waited in ER since 5am and still im not in a room WTF!!! A lot of nurses walking around, talking about what they did last night, the hair and the guys and they don't remember they are.in a hospital. Next to me was a family and they were looking for the doctor that was attending their family member and NOBODY knew who was the doctor or where was the doctor. Seriously!!!! ER charged me 8,000 dollars in ER expenses, 1,800 dollars in physicians fees, and 600$ for a urinalysis to check if I was on drugs. I asked specifically to not have a urinalysis taken, and told them I wasn't taking drugs, so to counter me they told me that I was peeing in the cup for a 'pregnancy test'. Surprise!- I wasn't. Overall all that was done was IV administration, blood test, EKG, X-Ray, a 400 dollar aspirin, and 5,000 dollars in "laboratory fees". I wasn't there more than five hours. The staff was accusatory and shady, and the hospital should be sued for fraudulent charges. read more

Horrible rude dirty out dated they still have small big booty tvs up in the ER beds. my dad was there twice for a few days and they killed my pockets $7 To park i was there 4 hours and for 2pieces of chicken and dried up macaroni i had to pay $11.20 with my drink . This is absolutely ridiculous. I have come in with my grandmother. First off, upon arriving to the ER, I drove up as close to the door as I could. My grandmother cannot walk, so I went in to request a wheelchair. 10 minutes of waiting, and still no wheelchair. So I ask the girl at the desk again, and she calls again to request it. Right after that, some guy comes up to the window also requesting a wheelchair. I told him "good luck, I've been waiting 10 minutes for one". Well, right after that, my wheelchair comes, and Mr. Big shot that came after me took it. When I told the nurse that was in the process of wheeling the chair out that I was the one who originally ordered it and have been waiting, he disregarded me and kept walking. Luckily right after that, they brought another one. So I finally get her in and park. I walk in again, and it is really hot in that waiting room, looks like they had the air off. It is now 4:55pm, we got here at 2:30pm, and they only have taken us from one waiting room to the next. We are still waiting. The doctor here looks like he has no idea what he's doing. And I've seen about 3 patients just walk out because they have been waiting many hours just to get discharged, and they do not attend them. Horrible horrible ER. read more

My father has surgery scheduled but needed a stat ultrasound of legs. I called Hialeah hospital registration outpatient service and asked if he could walk in to do test. A guy rep advised an auth is needed and a nurse will need to make appointment because it is stat. I hung up and called about auth and was advised this service is not required. I called again spoke to a young lady who said the nurse has to make the appt but I have to wait for a call back. Meanwhile I am missing work to do the test and no one called back. Two hours later i called again. Another guy said I will transfer you but I cant give me the number to nurse for appt. Now it is 5pm. Next morning they call me and say you were giving the wrong information no auth and no appt necessary. Day 2, I leave work again and the front desk registration person Daise P. says you need an auth. I explain the issue and she gives me attitide and insist an auth needed. She claimed the process I went through is not their procedure and said she has to do her job. I said I am not telling you not to do your job. I explained again your employees called me back and said no auth is needed I could walk in today. She says I dont know what nurse you are referring to. She speaks to others in the office and then calls insurance company. After being on hold 25 long minutes Daisi P. calls someone by the name of Maria within the office and ask if she spoke to me this morning. After this lady held us up 25 minutes arguing to the point that I asked for a supervisor whom I was not allowed to speak with. Now she calls the department and get confirmation of what I had been telling her gor 30 minutes. Finally she processed the paper work she preceded to scold me saying you talked to scheduling there is no nurse here. She knew all along who I was referring to. Also, she was well aware of the procedure I mentioned. If I was not persistent my father's surgery could have been postponed. Stand up for yourselves. Unbelieveable. read more

I came to this hospital on the 15th with my sister in the ER, this was by far the worst experience ever in a hospital. As i entered to look for her, the Security in the front was extremely rude when asking where the ER was and told me " QUE TU QUIERES " and did not ask me for identification or anything. I had to find everything on my own. I walked into the ER with no idea where to go and had to call the patient herself to direct me to the room as no one paid any attention to me or my husband, as i enter her room it became worse to see the nurse enter and not even identify himself to her or us and automatically give her pain medicine without even taking the urine sample she provided. The urine was never used and remained at her bedside up until discharge. It was hot and Muggy and the doctor as well seemed to be lost at how to asses her as she had a VP shunt that she needed checked to make sure it did not receive damage when she was assaulted. They proceeded to tell her she had " un chichon" where she herself needed to explain that what they were feeling was in fact her shunt!! I was in complete AWE as i sat there for an hour with no one to check on her after she did her scans and had her pain meds. when the doctor returned he proceeded to tell her everything was fine but had her explain to him how to find the valve on her head to make sure it was patent and as she instructed him where it was he said " i think i feel it, seems fine" and proceeded to discharge her. This experience has made me NEVER want to return or send any family and friend to this hospital. It is a Shame that after being treated we felt like it was a waste of time. My mother was here for gallbladder surgery and from registration to discharge we felt as if we were all a family. The love the nurses have for their jobs seeing how difficult it is to truly give 150% seeing as I myself am an ER nurse and know the ins and outs of what the day to day process looks like. I appreciate all the help and assistance she received from all levels of personnel. Including environmental. I would recommend anyone to this hospital. With my eyes closed. Think twice before coming here. The emergency room is the loudest place ever. Everyone is loud and the rescue team take breaks and laugh all loud right in front of your room and with some cursing too. Its just horrible. My friend just went to this Hialeah Hospital last week so it motivated me to tell everyone how rude and unprofessional these people we rely on are. My friend has no insurance and is stuck in a huge debt and wasn't even treated with care and if anything they abused on my friend, they left my friend with big bruises and neglect their patients! I am a licensed Registered Nurse who applied for a position the hospital said they needed to desperately fill. After a wonderful interview with the Director she was kind enough to show me the unit and introduce me to the staff as a potential candidate. While waiting outside HR I had the pleasure to meet and talk with the Patient Relations Director. WEEKS have now passed.I have never heard ANYTHING . I have called and left messages for the Recruiter. They sent no letter of acceptance or rejection. I feel it is very unprofessional and uncaring to have someone who really wanted to work and came for the interview, provided the references etc to just be ignored. At least they could be professional as an organization and say thank you for applying but you are no longer being considered. Stay away from Hialeah Hospital! Surgery complication is just one complaint! Here are just some insights of the experience there: 1)There are lots of staff that stand around doing nothing while you wait to check in, and don't seem concerned that you are still not through check in when its already past your surgery time. 2)Nurses answer personal phone calls while they are attending to you post opt (while making you wait with your arm extended to take out your IV needle), 3)anesthesiologists don't follow the doctor's orders, give you tranquilizing medication to 'take the edge off' but then tell you its OK to drive home! and lastly 4) They use cut throat bill collectors who within 6 months of surgery (when it took months to receive the initial bill) ruin your credit by reporting you to the bureaus even before they have reached you on the phone! Any other hospital in Miami MUST be better than this one! Find another option for your surgery. There was just an overall lack of professionalism and quality of care with every department that I came into contact with. read more

The only reason I gave it one star at all is because it doesn't allow me to put zero stars. The staff is rude, they have absolutely no clue what they're doing. I am very much pregnant, I've been to several doctors before this one, and my blood work and urine test came out negative for pregnancy, when I tried to explain to them that there must be a mistake, the doctor had an awful attitude. The nurse had a bad attitude, the technician had a bad attitude, the only nice person I found was the lady in charge of doing my ultrasound. I don't understand this place, you can clearly see my little munchkin in the ultrasound, but the doctors kept telling me I wasn't pregnant. Someone needs to shut this place down, or hire a whole new staff. Oh and on top of it all, all they're equipment is very much outdated and they used a 2$ pregnancy test that I could've got at Walmart, instead of wasting four hours of my life here. read more
