My family has been coming to this restaurant for years and I thought I'd already reviewed it! This is one of the better Chinese buffets I've been to. The sushi is normally pretty fresh, and you can occasionally even find eel! (My fave!) There is also an area where you can choose your protein and veggies and have them cook it fresh for you. The rest of the buffet is typical Chinese fare, from sesame and general tso chicken to fried rice and egg drop soup. Some of my favorite items here are the coconut shrimp and the black pepper chicken...I could make a meal out of these alone!! My grand daughter got food poisoning from eating here. The food was not even warm. This place needs reviewed by the health department. My daughter took her to the emergency room because she was throwing up and having severe stomach pains. The E.R diagnosed it to be food poison. read more

Hibachi knows its audience and serves up good Asian food for less than you could make it yourself. Is it the best I have ever had? No. Is the endless sushi better than a sushi house? No. Is the mongolian stir fry the best I have had? No. That being said being able to eat pretty good all of the above fairly close to me at a reasonable price was very surprising. The food does not seemed to be cooked with MSG as I don't need two gallons of water when I go home. The sushi has all the usual suspects as well you can ask for special rolls if they have ingredients. It is the south so they always have a slab of BBQ ribs. All in all it is my guilty pleasure near my house. read more

Having been to a lot of Chinese buffets, I was not impressed with this one. The buffet is small and so are the trays of food. So, you may very well be taking the last spoonful of something. However, I did leave full and enjoyed everything I had to eat. The sushi was very good and was all you can eat as well. The decor of this place could use some serious updating. I stopped in hear cause it was near my motel. Typical hole in wall Buffet, nothing great nothing terrible. Until I cut into the salmon. I was first to cut into wild salmon and the odor was definitely bad. I thought for a second maybe I'm overreacting, so I carried it to table. Wants I got there and got closer to the plate I new. We've been here twice. The first time everything was fine and the sushi was decent along with the sesame chicken and rice I had. The second visit, again sushi was decent. My husband enjoyed his General Zhao's chicken and rice. My kids barely touched the plain chicken nuggets and I offered my 4 year old some sweet and sour sauce for dipping. She said it was disgusting so I tasted it and y'all... It tasted just like BLOOD. You know that unmistakeable taste of metal that blood has? Yeah. OMG. I made my husband taste it and asked him what it tasted like and he turned green and had to hold his food back. I can't fathom any explanation but we can't go there anymore. BLOOD y'all. read more

So they have frog legs that can be mistaken for mini drumsticks if you don't read the sign (which I did). (Hey, if I won't kiss a frog, I sure as heck won't eat one.) Though, I feel badly for all the legless froggies out there. ;) They also have crawdads and crab legs. If that doesn't satisfy you, try the sushi bar, which has a decent selection from the safe California Roll to the risky eel. You can also have some Hibachi with ingredients of your choice. This place has a decent variety of foods. I was surprisingly satisfied. The fruits could be fresher, but let's face it. You're not coming here for the fruit. We did not really enjoy this place. There was A LOT of food on the buffet, but nothing really looked freshly cooked. A lot of fried stuff. Several food items were just not that good. The fried rice was out of a mix, not real rice. The chinese food dishes were decent. Sushi was so-so - too much rice in it. There was trash under our table. I tried this place when I had a particularly strong craving for ethnic food and my experience overall was just meh. I ordered the lunch buffet, which was very inexpensive, so I should not be horribly surprised, but this was not as good as other lunch buffets I've tried. The waitress was very sweet and prompt with my drink order, which was nice. Personally, I did not like the food here at all. I tried several foods from the buffet and nothing tasted good enough to take more than a bite or two. The sushi was subpar, the beef and broccoli was rubbery, and the lo mein was flavorless. They had some crab pasta that I enjoyed at first, but then the smell started to make me nauseous, so I had to leave that alone. This place seems to have degraded very badly over the years. I had been there a few years back, and if I had reviewed it back then, I would have given it at least another star. Recently, I went there for dinner one night, and had the buffet. The stir fried food was stale, and the meat was almost to the point of being closer to jerky. The vegetables were mushy, and I couldn't even finish a quarter of a plate. The seafood mixture initially looked good, but after taking a few bites, I gave up on it. The imitation crab meat was tasteless and had the consistency of a rubber mat, while the shrimp had a texture similar to sawdust, where it would mash up in your mouth in an unpleasant manner. The fried dumplings were also horribly stale, where there was no crunch on the browned side, and the non-browned side had a consistency of shoe leather. That's a classic indicator that the food had been sitting out in the warmers for many hours. The soup was no better, as each of the three commonly sold soups had a thick skin on top of them that took a significant effort to break through in order to access. I thought about getting some dessert, but seeing how some insects were busy having their own feeding frenzy, I decided to pass on it. The serving staff was unhelpful, and my drink was never refilled even once. When I got up and left, I still paid them, and they "forgot" to give me my change until I reminded them. I looked around to see what their health and safety scores were, since all restaurants are supposed to display their health and safety scores in plain sight (according to the law), but they didn't have one up there. Maybe some day, this place will come under new management, but until then, I strongly recommend that everyone stay away from this place. In the meantime, if you're really hungry and in that area, there's a Sonic drive through across the street that will give you much better food for your money. read more

I had some other things to take care of so my cousin Tanya Collier-Kemboi and my Aunt Sheri Markham along with my 2 grand daughter, Sheri's grand daughter and Tanya's daughter all went to The Hibachi Restaurant in Alabaster. I was told that After They were seated and the manager( the lady in the picture) came over and asked my 11 year old granddaughter(Shy) how old she was and she answers and said 11. The manager went into say, " you 11? You too big. When is your birthday?" Now if anyone knows my Shy- yes she is a big beautiful black girl and she has had some self esteem issues about her size. Now the words from the manager really hurt her feeling. My cousin Tanya went off on the lady and ultimately asked the manager to apologize to Shy. This grown lady refused to apologize to my grand baby. Now God has dealt with a lot of things in my life but I will go to the ends of the earth for my babies. When I got the call I couldn't leave what I was doing to go up there so I asked to speak to the manager on the phone- needless to say she refused to talk to me in the phone. So this leaves me to do this. What grown woman that is a manager of an establishment cannot apologize to a 11 year old child that was offended by something she said? All we wanted was an apology.They will never get any more or my money and I hope this post stop more people visiting this place. You cannot be disrespectful to my baby and still get my money plus you can bet the manager will see my face tomorrow as soon as I get off work! read more

I'm not a huge buffet fan but my family is. We have tried this place 3 times... the first was an okay experience. The second was in a super busy time and they couldn't keep enough food out to keep up with the demand. Our third time was at a down time and it was even worse than the busy time, very little selection out. For the price, it just isn't worth it for us. read more

We love the food here! They're open late, the food is almost always fresh, there's hibachi, really good sushi, and seafood for only $10.25. The only downfall is the clientele. Every time we go there are dozens of Hispanic children running through the restaurant, screaming. The staff will ask the parents to supervise their children and the parents just stare at the staff, doe-eyed, and then ignore them. One of the wild children actually walked up and punched my husband in the stomach. I promptly smacked the kid for it. The child was asked by multiple diners to stop running around and it didn't stop until the people left. If wild, unsupervised children aren't your thing you might want to do lunch, instead. Otherwise, get your smackin' hand ready because you're gonna need it! read more

I'm editing my review. Today my wife and daughter wanted Chinese buffet for lunch. This was a go to spot. It was cheap and decent. We had a run in with some poorly prepared food. I guess it happens. Today was on par with most cheap Chinese lunch buffets. Wife and kids enjoyed it. There are tons of options a hibachi, a salad bar and sushi. The sushi was freshly prepared and the selection was quite good. Improved over my last visit considerably. In the past my family enjoyed stopping here on occasion after church, for lunch. Hadn't been in a while and tonight my soon to be 2 yr old decided she needed dinner immediately, if not sooner, around 630. We were in Pelham leaving a friends house and decided to grab dinner here. Virtually every item on the buffet was old. The fried items such as the typical variations of chicken and shrimp were hard and appeared to have absorbed a tremendous amount of grease. The sauces in the stir fried items solidified. It was as though food had been sitting there for a very long time. It was quite possible someone had attempted to refry/ reconstitute some of the dishes. The crawfish and squid seemed to have been cooked previously and reheated based on the texture and discoloration. Virtually nothing was edible. My daughter ate a bit of fruit for dinner and the rest of us choked down a bit of sushi that we saw the guy prepare while we were there. We were extremely disappointed. We used to enjoy the food here. The quality of good had always been pretty good as far as Chinese buffets go, in the past. A poorly maintained buffet on a Saturday night at peak dinner time is not a good sign for this business. The crowd was limited. It's probable we're not the first to realize this place is going down hill. Hopefully, management will take corrective action, otherwise I don't for see this place being in business much longer. read more

let's be honest: if you want super elite chinese or japanese food, you'd go to sekisui or maybe red pearl. You're here to eat fried stuff, and lots of it. won tons and rice and fried donuts and maybe some cheap sushi and then more fried donuts, right? Well, this is the place. Decent prices plus, yes, they literally have a hibachi and you can select your meats to be cooked on it (though I have not done it yet). It's got lovely etched glass and glittering fluorescent colored chandeliers and is probably the only cheap chinese buffet i've visited that could be described as 'glitzy', so that counts for something too. First impression was not the best. My sister and I had dinner here on Sunday night. The food was cold and most dishes were flavorless (except for the salmon, garlic chicken, and the Mongolian beef). There was no real sushi at the sushi bar. It was just a variation of California rolls. On the flip side, their sweet tea was really good and they had a great variety or unseasoned, overcooked seafood if you're into that.
