I've been meaning to write this review for a while, so here it goes. For the price, food quality, and quick and attentive service, there may be no better value in Greenville for any restaurant. We've eaten here multiple times with the first try inspired by the police cars in the lot. If the local cops like it, you can bank on it being good. This is a "fast" food experience for Japanese, Korean, and Thai-inspired cuisine. Everything we've ordered, including their sushi, has been excellent. The interior is simple and functional. Our 8-year old loves this place, and he begs for it every time we are in Greenville. This place deserves more business. read more

I've been in Greenville off-and-on for about 3 years now, and I refused to go to a place that specialized in both hibachi and hamburgers. I reluctantly went to Ninja Hibachi Express when accompanying a friend, and damn, I was pleasantly surprised. The orange "crack" chicken and fried rice didn't do me wrong, especially for the price. I have been twice for the same order, each time adding additional veggies and white sauce to my bowl. Both times, I ordered my food to go, and it appears many others are doing the same, as the inside dining area is usually pretty quiet. I just recently noticed there was a drive-thru option. Given the food, price, and ease of access, I say it's definitely worth a shot if you are looking for cheap, Asian-inspired grub. Tonight will probably be my last time coming here. I placed my order at the drive through. Went to pay and the young lady at the window was having trouble with my card. I've had my card charged twice here before so I immediately looked online at my account. They had already charged my card. I showed her and her other coworker that I had already been charged. I proceed to go home and enjoy my food. I ordered pan fried gyoza. They gave me steamed instead. The bulgogi wrap was great. I go to eat my main entree. I asked for no carrots and no broccoli. I got cabbage and 1 sliver of zucchini. The food is usually good but tonight I just don't know what happened. If you decide to eat here, I suggest paying in cash. read more

This place has been a favorite of mine since they opened. I loved the food and service was good. Recently came here and got disappointed twice in a week. I don't order take-out from here. I eat out of enough paper wrappers. and styrofoam containers. I'd like to feel human once in awhile and eat off a plate or something. So I stopped in here a few nights ago, bulgogi on my mind, and gyoza! Menu hasn't changed much and I ordered my food. Was disappointed to see that all of the ingredients were scrambled together -like a dumpster fire. Used to be they put the rice on the bottom, and placed the veggies and meat around the rice mound, giving you the option of choosing your "ratios" of whatever to whatever. The food was good but I was a bit irked about being denied my ratio options. Tonight I returned for bimimbop and gyoza. Again. I am dining in. I get my food in a cardboard bowl and styrofoam clamshell. I'm not thrilled but figured I'll just deal with it. Nope. I tried my bimimbop to find it was all mixed up (dumpster fire style) and it was barely warm. I mean, warm was almost an exaggeration. Plus my egg was cooked almost hard. The whole point of the egg is the yolk!?! I am not one to complain, or write bad reviews, but I asked for my money back and left. I don't know what changed but it hasn't been for the good. read more

Came here for drive through takeout with my family the first week I moved to Greenville. The service was prompt and friendly but the menu left much to be desired on the plant-based front. Ended up getting the hibachi veggies for my brother and I and the hibachi chicken for my mom and sister. The food was fresh and flavorful and cooked to order and they even let us skip the egg for the fried rice for the vegetable hibachi. My mom and My sister enjoyed the chicken hibachi as well. Ordered a bowl with no veggies and a bulgogi wraps. Had to return it because it had veggies. Bowl came back and still didn't get the bulgogi after we asked about them. Got done eating and still didn't get our wraps. Asked about it for the 3rd time and they said 6 minutes. We asked for a refund for it and they said they wouldn't be able to get our refund until management comes in which was the following day. I ordered hibachi chicken with brown rice and white sauce. It was wonderful! I usually find that this type of food sits very heavy on my stomach, however, this restaurant's hibachi felt light to me. I'm not sure if they use ingredients that are more fresh or less processed, but I can tell a difference in the quality based off of how I feel after I eat it. I will note that the white sauce from this hibachi restaurant tastes slightly different than normal. It was quite a bit sweeter, but I didn't mind it. When we first walked in, the girl at the counter was very cold and barely acknowledged us. After a few seconds, she turned around and just walked away... no idea why. However, the guy that stepped up (Akito) was amazing. He was super kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. He redeemed the experience for us. The food was great too. The menu definitely needs to be updated outside as their combo deal had salmon on it and they don't sell it anymore. The chicken wasn't dry or the rice. The food could have been seasoned better as it was bland. But it's not a bad deal for only $6. read more

Good quality food and it seemed really fresh. The steak wasn't scraps it was large pieces of quality steak. They were a little light on the steak but I'd rather have quality than quantity so I'm ok with it. Also love that they didn't skimp on the sauces you ask for. They gladly gave exactly what I asked for. Their Ginger must be fresh it's very strong and has pieces of real ginger in it. I'm not a big ginger fan but I recommend trying theirs. read more

Love ninja hibachi and would go more if close to me. While the service is lacking the interior is very nice and offers a drive thru as well if your short on time. The crack chicken is called crack chicken for a reason, I don't know what they putting in there but try it you won't be disappointed. I love Asian cuisine and so does my daughter. We have two Ninja's in Goldsboro and still ended up eating here in Greenville and another Ninja's. Their bulgogi is amazing, I like to get mine with Bimbobop sauce and fried rice. My daughter always get the steak with fried rice and no teriyaki sauce. Which is light tempura and I believe contains a Tuna with amazing sweet and spicy sauce. Another good thing here is they also offer burgers and other options for the non-sushi lovers. I did not enjoy my experience here. My boyfriend and I stopped here on a whim and I have no intention of going back. Our food did not taste very fresh and was unpleasant. To be fair, the prices were low and the service was kind. But, food-wise, I was disappointed. Especially after reading all of the good reviews. This restaurant is right across the street from me and I come here every month when I am not busy working. Food is spectacular, kimchi is a hit or miss, and the restaurant has a nice quiet vibe. Whenever I order, I like to get the beef bulgogi bowl with a side of homemade kimchi. Which will run you about $10.00-$11.00 if you order what I get. Beef is marinated well and the rice pairing is delicious and Moist. My former boss got the bibimbap bowl and he said it was authentic to the korean flavors. Food tasted absolutely HORRIBLE. I love Asian food and I was expecting to have an amazing fusion of Japanese and as well as a few American favorites to my surprise the food quality was extremely poor. As their steak was very tough and over cooked. I ordered the Tokyo Steak and the Hibachi Steak and chicken with vegetables, all the vegetables and especially the cabbage were raw and not steamed properly. The Tokyo Steak was slimy and almost impossible to chew threw. I was expecting the Bulgogi fries to be so much more like the authentic experience I've had before at other resturants. As a Greenville, NC resident and ECU student I am truly embarrassed to have this restaurant in Greenville. My worst regret is having my family eat here as we all suffered from explosive diarrhea. I was surprised by this place. With a goofy name like Ninja Express I was expecting poor quality food on the cheap. The good news is their food is on the cheap but comparable in quality to the other hibachi chains in Greenville. For $2 their side salads are a great deal and far superior to other hibachi salad offerings. Their crack chicken is also very good. I do wish they had a greater selection of sauces and allowed customer to access those sauces without requesting them from the counter. Hibachi Japan on Firetower Rd. offers a variety of sauces and that is probably why until Ninja does the same I will likely frequent the other place. So far so good. Usually do the combo rice bowl take out... steak, shrimp, chicken or salmon, comes with veggies and brown or fried or steamed rice. I usually do steak and chicken or steak and shrimp with brown rice. Never been disappointed. I have also had the bulgogi bowl, comes with veggies and choice of rice. I have tried their gyoza, always good. Spicy tuna roll always yummy.
